Tyrant armor. Light or Heavy?

Yes, noob, noob, and noob again.

I thought light armor was good for Tyrant, but on the previous thread I read everyone reccomending heavy armor, not even mentioning light. So I got confused.

Which is the optimal seup for A-Grade tyrant? Light or heavy?

Isn't anyone in favour of light armor? Not even for the one with the VR effect?

All in favour of heavy? :p

PS. Eeek! I just noticed that there's actually a thread on Heavy armor on the 2nd page...
no matter what i post, apparently, i am wrong. so i will stay generic.

there is no cookie cutter tyrant, so do it as pleases you. some say DClight is good enough, some say tallum heavy, some again say Maj light, all depends on style. there is no cookie cutter answer.

pretty well all the A grade light and heavy sets have some use for a tyrant and will work when properly set up.

dude. i have always been in light armor and love it. if you are gonna be grinding non stop and not actually playing your char then sure go heavy. if you are playing as a main and are gonna be goofing around with clanmates exploring etc...whatver ppl do to entertain in this game...go light. your run speed alone is worth it. you will be front of the pack all the time and in pvp if your chacing someone YOU are the one who will catch up and cripple the enemy. and if you get way ahead of the group that person will 1v1 you and u will own him.

+1 light, heavy is boring and no one likes to play a slow tyrant.
seems to me lots of ppl like slow tyrants, they all go -9 dex :P

that being said i like light better myself for 66+. More armor then heavys (masetry catches up around 65), and frankly i prefer the DC light bonus to Tallum Heavy's.

That being said, when ct1 hits light is gonne be THE way to go with that new crit dmg thingy on light masterys i keep hearing about.
Ye, they go +STR and +CON to maximize Bison and skill critrate.

ALL my Alts use LIGHT ARMOR! even my SH O.o
well for pve it doesnt really matter if you go heavy or light
if you xp in close areas without much moving id prefer heavy

in pvp id defenitly go light unless your in oly where you should need both

for a grade i did prefer nm light in overall its decent pdef and the vr bonus is nice if you solo bison its just the right amount of r most of the time if you have bd +pp
Ty to all for your answers. :)

NM Light Works real good with vr3. I can solo a room at Witches Catta with Puma and Fist fury and never I mean never need heals
costs you millions to level though, i bet.
Will still cost the same any other way I'm solo not in a group. so if I kill the mob fast or slow will still cost the same.

Not if you crit 50% of the time...
I'm not that high enough yet to get that skill, it's a lvl 68 skill and I'm only 66
PL set, PP+SE buffs(A grade+),+5str-5con and u can make some money
OK this may seem silly yo u guys.....but anyways, I have a LVL 44 Tyrant with Theca set +5 Fist Blades (haste) and another with (r.Haste) my tats are +4 Str +4 dex and -8 Con. A friend of mine told me this is a good set up. I play with my GF who is a pally ( still learning) so i try to have her keep the aggro but well, it dont work sometimes. I know there is no " PICTURE PERFECT" set up....im just wondering if what i have is good or not. I LOVE the speed but I hate how my HP is gone. Also once 52 whats a nice set up for a good grind!
well. if you have a buffer your tat setup is best for exp imo. DO NOT PVP WITH THAT SETUP. btw. no tank close to your lvl will be able to keep agro, but if you have vr its no problem. i like theca, thats what i used as well as fist blades haste. once u are lvl 68, change your tats to how you plan on playing and by the time u are 68 you should have a good idea on how you want your tats set. personally i have a health weapon and -3 con -1 dex +4 str. hp gets low at times and elixirs are a must but the skill crits and extra p attack (1964 pattack with lvl 70 wc buffs and +12 dragon grinder with +18 p attack augment @ lvl 76 gk) with a regular enchanted weapon i would still expect you to have around 1700 p attack at least.
lol +12

Hey there big guy that was a good party we had last night and I still want your fists for my WC :)
NEVER! HAHAHA! yeah. that was great. pm me in game when ur online and we will do it again! should be lvl 77 by then too. not that GK get much at lvl 77.
so many ppl saying NM light... am i the only one to prefer DC light big time? Dex is nice, but being -9dex it doesnt seem like logical choice of armor FOR ME (might be if you are -con or str i guess).

-9dex is not smart if u dont hunt exclusively in catas
It is if you want to skillcrit and use Bison 30% all the time.
oh dont get me started now. skill crit rate difference from +0 to +4/+5 str is not TREMENDOUSLY great. Bison on below 30% hp can be done with no +con quite well too. in the end, no dyes is the best all around setup. u can pvp/xp good, both open areas and catas/necros. but all the cool boys go -9dex nowadays so meh
so going +5 STR +4 DEX -9 CON (+5 STR +5 DEX -10 CON with DC light) is a bad idea I guess...
+dex on tyrant is ******ed indeed. -con is not the best, but if u dont care about bison at all, and xp with puma only its fair
What would you say is a good PvE setup (no PvP at all)?
depends on how u pve and what buffs u have

till u get bison all u need is +4str-4con
About cata xp, im still 61 so i dont see why id want to xp outside cata in first place (got RL pals group going on, so dont have lfg problems, we dont even use vent lol, phone conference is even easyer :P).

As for -9 dex outside cata, i PvPed a bit and so far hasnt been a problem at all. Still only got wolf and already catching up to people is a joke. One cripple, pop puma and go to town ez. And no i dont mean vs bgraders, i actually killed a lvl 77 SpS twice today (ok he got me the other 3 times my cripple didnt land, but [censored], with that lvl difference, im happy!)

As for Skill crit and bison... i been at 49 str for a while now using PL till 61, JUST switched to DC light, and already i see a huge difference in my skill crit rate from 49 to 46. And while you CAN get good Bison benefits without +con, I feel MUCH safer with an extra 600+ hp.

When you get to 68 it's all about Bison.

Nightmare Light
Dragon Grinders with Health SA
+5CON -5DEX
+4STR -4DEX

You can change up which of those stats you want to +5 but personally I prefer it to be CON as your HP will be higher for Bison to activate. Regardless of lvl or setup you will ALWAYS use Fist Fury.

This setup rapes mobs. Before that, Plated Leather set if at all possible. I didn't have one so used theca until 52 and then BW heavy until getting Bison, totems to use are either Bear or Puma, I always found that either worked out well. I even used that tat setup from much lower than 68 because your crit rate is worthless anyway and you don't really need to worry about run speed from base stats as a Tyrant, you have 2 totems for that.
i have followers. see charmille? PL isnt only recommended by noobz. FS is noble on TWO servers. he MUST know more than the lvl 60 tyrant on ONE server.

Thanks for the advice, but wouldn't risk haste weapon output more damage and help keeping the HP steady with the VR effect of the NM light?

I am just asking because I have started to save adena for the gear I am gonna need for my next sub on my little dwarf although I still have 7 levels to go before I can re-sub.

It is nice to know that you read only selectively. Notice the NIGHTMARE LIGHT?

And PL is the best DPS armor for about every melee toon in C-grade, for Archers all the way to A-grade if they only exp.
i persoanlly use -9 con with bison but thats mostly cuz im to lazy to change tattos
its possible but it can get thight its pretty bad for pvp tho

and yes pl is the c grade armor to go i used it up to 61 without problems
