Ok I'm going get my Butt Chewed for this but they have the Mastery and I have every top light armor but PL becasue all my Alts use light so I went that way with my Glad and seams to be working fine with me.
I even Used S Grade Light on a 79 Glad on PTS back in Interlude and Owned every Glad wearing Heavy.
I only lost 2 fights really 1 to a HE (no shock there) and WC that Critt on me but he said it was real close becasue I only used ranged attacks and kept cancelling his cast if not for the Magic Critt could end up diffrent.
I know your thinking If I had Heavy I could Won the fight with the HE......no HE owns we all know that and I can deal with that.
My point is Light on a Glad is not so bad just Wonder if I'm going pay for this during a seige? WE do get higher evasion wearing light so.......inputs?
let me ask. the HE that owned u, what were the buffs, and did u fight him in arena? if u did and u lost, yare yare... i beat 78 HE's in BW and tsu*sls+4 on my 76 glad. if it was open pvp, then i can somewhat understand it.
Gladiator's stong point isn't really evasion, I wouldn't worry about that too much.
I haven't run the numbers but I think that Gladi's get a higher boost in p.def percentage wise from light armor and the corresponding mastery than they do from heavy armor and it's mastery. It's just that heavy armor offers more p.def in general so you'll still have more p.def using heavy armor despite LA mastery giving more of a % boost than heavy mastery.
As for siege, survivability is as important as the ability to kill. Gladiators mainly rely on their skills to do the damage as I'm sure you know. So with that in mind, you want survivability and heavy armor just does that so much better. Heavy armor bonuses also let you max out your STR stat better which will help with skill crits, 47 STR = 23% chance of a skill crit.
I know that on retail though you're not inviolved in the kind of pvp where choosing one or the other would be a huge difference so I'd say using LA would be ok for you, Ashley.
LA isnt actually a bad choice for gladiators. You will evade quite a bit when fighting lower lvl classes. But at S grade I dont see the point of it. Archers I face are decked in Boss Jewels that gives them a stupid amount of accuracy and when they crit, they will crit hard.
LA will be an even better option in CT1 where you get even more Evasion when you are high lvl. But still, I rely more on soaking damage then evading it.
I've tried light armor and it sucked compared to my heavy armors... but then again i never did raise the lightarmor mastery so there's the answer to why it sucked for me, hehehe.
Really i dont think light would be that bad though if you do raise the light masteries and act first/second DD in parties. Personally i'm biased to heavy cause i like to tank several (anything from 2-6 mobs at a time depending on buffsetup and mob strength/weaknesses and Xhp's) mobs while solo'ing, lol. Also i like to aoe both solo and in groups and the p.def is good to have when i'm running a train and a slow lands on me, lol

PTS it was open Area I was going to hunt and he try stun me and failed so I figured it's PTS i'm lvl 79 go for it and ...well I lost.
Thanks for your inputs Sounds like Heavy is really the way 2 go but like DevilStar said with me getting the Light armor mastaries and my Play style it will work for me keep using LA :)
Thanks everyone I feel better now sticking with LA
Well i have a gladiator in devianne and i used to ware a doom light + 4 dex- 4 con, +1 dex -1 con and +4 str -4 con.
Its kinda strange cause you have to think in the gladiator as a kind of dagger that has a massive amount of damage ( youll take lots of damage on you too ) but with this combination and useing a tsu*sls+8 ( im not talking about the sls*sls that gives attack speed to you ) you can have an exelent attack speed. Imagine it with a speed duals.
Gladiator's evasion is so good as the dagger's one so the light armor is still good in glads.
Maybe now im a grade and the mobs give me more damage i have to use the majestic heavy for a while ( and my friend that is a tanker is kinda out of game ) but in S grade ill go for a draconic for sure!
Gladiators owns in light armor. All you need is tactic and a good dye combination.
cya in game dudes.
glad light armor masteries are different from dagger ones. glad gets more pdef but less evasion, while daggers get less pdef but more evasion. glads lack the dex and boost evasion passives, so evasion is not great. dex is almost useless if u want to pvp.
I don't plan on any pvp till end game so sounds like I'm good with Light Armor. I would go with -4 con and +4 Str also but I like hold enough ss to last for hours of grinding. Once I start playing my mp3's and grinding I like keep going cause soon as I run out of ss I go town get more and some how end up at the arena and don't grind anymore that day. :p

heavy is always a better option till draconic
The gladi light armor mastery gives evasion and p.def. The dagger light armor mastery only gives p.def.
That being said at lvl 66 a TH has 112 evasion, a AW has 114, a PW has 115, a tyrant (using any totem besides rabbit) has 106, and gladi has 107 evasion (DC light for all, no tats).
Gladi's actually dont have that bad evasion when compared to the other light armor DD's. I personally plan on getting drac light for S grade (if i ever reach that lvl lol)

nop its like i said. actually there are 3 different armor masteries that affect evasion :
fighter armor mastery from newbie lvls ~> +3 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Warriors [lvl 1-2] ~> +3 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Warriors [lvl 3-4] ~> +5 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Warriors [lvl 5+] ~> +6 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Rogues [lvl 1-2] ~> +4 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Rogues [lvl 3-4] ~> +6 evasion
Light Armor Mastery for Rogues [lvl 5+] ~> +7 evasion
now as far as pdef goes, dorfs, warlords, destros, glads share the same light armor masteries and get :
lvl 1 ~> 4.2
lvl 2 ~> 5.3
lvl 3 ~> 6.5
and so on...
daggers, archers and tyrants also share the same LA masteries and they get :
lvl 1 ~> 1.3
lvl 2 ~> 2.2
lvl 3 ~> 3.2
and so on...
moreover, glads and the rest of that group get 50 lvls of light armor mastery while daggers and the rest of their group get 47 lvls.
so yea, i think i ll stick to what i said on my previous post.
gladies dont have that bad evasion, compared to tyrants and maybe treasure hunters. nobody ever said they evade anything with the setup u used. tyrants use rabbit when they want to evade, treasure hunters can effectively gimp their str and go +dex, plus they have UE lvl 2. that makes them capable of evading, while glads going +dex have to either gimp con or str, either of which will gimp them in either output dmg, hp/cp or skill crit rate. No UE either, which is where evading starts to matter, especially nowadays with all the +acc buffs. only the PW was, dont know if he still is, never had one either, capable of evading a good number of hits with the right setup without the need of UE.
imo glads dont have a good S grade set to choose from. imp crusader gimps their atk speed, and draconic gimps their pdef. it looks great nonetheless. a +6 drac set could rock, if evasion starts to matter again, not sure tho.
ok, have to go work on 77 for my glad. see ya mates
Ok look guys. If you are talking S grade, your talking PVP oly ect. So for example, 1 light armor glad vs 1 Heavy armor glad. Nothing hugely different but say +4S duals on each and a +0 IC set vs +0 Drac set. If each glad hits back and forth with specials like in an oly situation the heavy armor wins hands down with 4k or more HP.
Skill crits don't matter IC still boosts STR like Drac. Both assuming same tat set up have the same chance to crit. What you get is slight faster attack speed Drac (at the cost of Pdef). Which in reality doesn't matter because of how many different sonic skills we have. If TSS is recharging use DSS. Always use the AOE's as they are free dmg. It's very unlikely that all 5 of your abilities that use Sonic charges are waiting for a refresh. Toe to toe, hit for hit. The heavy armor will win every time.
PVE - Maj or Tallum for example in A grade, are great offensive sets that will last into S grade. Combined with VR and the lower dmg because of the higher Pdef of heavy. Pots are hardly even needed let alone a healer.
Sorry folks light just doesn't make sense.
That be said that is today. Literally tomorrow all that could change with a revamp to evasion.
OFC there are situations where the light and heavy are better or worse, the point im trying to make is that light armor is a viable armor for gladis to wear. So ofc if you put a heavy armor gladi vs a light armor gladi then the heavy will most likely win. However you put a HE vs a Gladi in drac, we'll put them the the olympiad to remove the buffs arguements, the Gladi is going to evade a fair amount of the HE's regular attacks (personal experience from PTS Interlude w/ drac). It really depends on the situation you're in for pvp, and personal play style. Seeing as how im poor, its not really going to matter for me and you will still see me running around in my Tallum well into S grade.
What moronic HE were you fighting that was using regular attacks so much in the Oly on PTS?
Its all about skill spamming. Bad example.
In no situation would the Glad evade enough to make a difference vs Heavy.
Fair enough bad example (as u can see im too low to frequent the oly to know whats good/not good), i was also in the FP and my party got caught by a gank, the HE shot 3 shots at me before using a special i avoided all 3 (idk what buffs he had but i didnt have evasion).
I cant pull game mechanics or anything out. All im saying is its viable, not best, only viable.

For the record i prefer tal hvy to anything
Thats a good example though :) You typically woudnt spam specials in open PvP - stun.
I just dont think evasion is all its cracked up to be, but with the coming changes to evasion and accuracy on higher level players (I think it was you, or someone in this thread mentioned it) evasion might become more of a factor.
I know @78, a 68 Archer had a hell of a time hitting me, even with the + to accuracy from height. (He was on a tower) That was in Heavy, as a SWS. (Had accuracy toggle on too)
Idk if it was me, but that is right. Evasion is getting boosted so that we may see it become an actual factor in pvp. (and then on top of that UE now avoids melee skills)/useskillaccuracy
the 70+ evasion boosts only matter when you are fighting ppl much lower than you and once again only if they don't spam skills
classes like WL, dorf and destro will always be better off in heavy for pvp
Like I said before, evasion on a Gladiator only matters when you fight lower lvl players. At the end game, don't expect to evade much. Archers get an ungodly amount of accuracy for a class that has 900+ range, count in boss jewels which up their accuracy and CRITICAL DAMAGE even more and GG.
Lets face it,
You are not going to evade a Frenzied+Rage Titan who has tons of accuracy;
You are not going to evade fully decked archers that much;
You are not going to evade skills. Not even in CT1, only daggers with UE2 have a chance to evade skills.
I rather rely on soaking up damage then hoping to evade tbh.
What I do is carry 2 sets with me, IC for facing physical classes and Tallum heavy (same Patk but more atk speed then Draconic) for against mages.
Well, Its totally possible to have a good building using light armor in a gladiator or a duelist but you must keep in mind youll sacrifice some attributes of the char for it.
I play with a light armor gladiator and my building is:
Nightmare light set +3/+4
Dyes: +4str/-4con -- +4dex/-4con -- +4 wit/-4int
Augmented Kesh*Kesh+6 (+1.6 Dodge and +11.6 Mdef)
Since I use this set I get 113 evasion self buffed and 3% of a kind of "Vr" that restores my life from the damage I inflict in the enemy.
When you use a light set in a gladiator you must keep in mind that you'll sacrifice your resistance to physical damage for speed, evasion, critical and accuracy. It, btw, works great in the PvE (I can solo in Martydon self-buffed at level 66) and works good with classes that doesnt have great accuracy or low quantity of damage like dark avengers, paladins, sword singers, blade dancers and shilien knights.
When you fight classes that have ranged attacks the light armor buildings will help you busting your speed (with sonic move you get as fast as a dagger or an archer with dash if you are with ww or greater haste potion)
Once you fight classes that are great damage dealers it doesnt mater if you are using heavy or light armor. Gladiators can fight them both ways. What really maters is your tactic once they just make damage on you. These classes are destroyers, other gladiators, warlords and any kind of close fighter that can inflict lots of damage.
When you fight mages you def doesnt mater so try to find a good jewel set to protect you.
Gladiators are natural damage dealers and all the gladiators power is in his skills and not in the damage he can inflict in the normal hit. The light armor sets boosts your Dex (generally) and cause of this makes your physical skills recover faster, what means they will have a smaller delay to be used. If you know how to use them in the right time you can mix the TSS and the DSS in a good combination for a close fight and make better damage than a heavy gladiator that can not have the same Dex you have.
You, as a light armor gladiator have to look for a dodge augmentation, and at the same time, something that makes possible to you to hit faster.
In the other side I can say that the damage youll receive from your enemies will be a little higher (at last 50%) but you can deal with it if you are skillful.
Light gladiators arent better than heavy gladiators; they just are other kind of fighter.
Gladiators can be faster as daggers (in change of the combat resistance) or hard as destroyers (in change of the speed)
If you are looking for attack speed (what means different as skill speed) go for a Tallum set, If you want to resist players attacks go for a majestic set, if you want to go for skills speed and some chance of avoid attacks (I, personally can avoid 33% of the attacks of a dark avenger at my level) go for the right light set.
Gladiators arent just a class that use dual swords and hit like crazy. Gladis can use blunts and two hand weapons. All depends of your play-style.
Im good on light armor. Actually I defeated a level 68 blade dancer and I just lost the cp, I defeated other gladiators, archers and daggers in +- 5 levels upper or lower my level.
Using light doesnt make you a better fighter or a worst fighter. It just can make possible to you to choose your play-style.
Just remember that the set cannot make all for you by itself. You need a good dye combo, the right augmentation and a good SA in your weapon.
Mix your skills in a good combo and dont be afraid to use some skills that gladiators normally dont use like Hummer Crush and Fatal Strike (they are useful if your skill delay is high).
The best part of been a gladiator is that you can use almost all the fighter equipments in the game (even with a bow and vicious stance you can inflict a great damage). So, test sets, Find your style and then send me a message here in forum.
Lets see whats better, a building or the pleasure of find out your character best and worst points.
Firstly forgive me if i repeat anything anyone else has said in this thread, as i just skimmed through and wanted to add my comment in regards to the subject matter. ^_^
Stupid Eggy!!!
Most people called me stupid when i wanted to wear Light Armor for my Gladiator. On female characters Light Armor looks a hell of a lot better than any Plate Armor set; but everyone was telling me i HAD to use Tallum Heavy and i HAD to use duals.
Personally at A Grade i used:
+4/3/3/3 Tallum Leather Armor Set
. . . and i thought i looked awesome, and in favor of LA i chose to +DEX/+STR, my evasion was considerably high, and noticable in combat too.
In terms of stats i probably could have picked a better set but all-in-all it really did not matter, i still bode well in PvP and even beat Gladi's of similar levels that wore wore Heavy Armor.
This also may sound silly but through a large portion of A Grade i used a +3 Dragon Slayer [Health]. Again this was purely for aesthetic purposes but everyone seemed to forget that Gladiators get Sword/Blunt mastery in addition to Dual Mastery; and that in fact a lot of the Sonic Skills work with Sword/Blunt weapons; in addition to Fatal Strike which is a pretty powerful attack within itself.
Dual Swords do become a lot more useful as you progress further through the ranks but ultimately all im trying to say is everyone should just wear whatever the hell they want regardless of prejudgement or misconception.
In Conclusion ^_^
The skill/weapon masteries have been put in place for a reason, and breaking the mold to make use of these options does not make you wrong, noob, or anything else for that matter.
For those who want to wear Light Armor for Gladi's i say...
Go For It!
So long as your having fun it's all that matters, after all it's only a game ^_^

Good post but why the +wit-int? it doesnt help anymore
Maybe, in some cases 1 more dex can be 1 more in evasion and trust me... its kinda hard to hit someone that have almost 120 of evasion at lvl 6x.
Btw, +1 dex changes into +speed, +attack speed, +evasion, +accuracy, +critical rate and -delay of physical skills. Do you still think its not good?
Well... I'm trying it and I'm very good, thanks.
Try it someday and see if it will be good on you too.
Dude, you think you made a glass canon while you are just a glass. Evasion, accuracy and critical rate means nothing for a Gladiator in PvP. The gain in atk.speed is minimal as well as the -delay of physical skills. Gladiators have naturally faster reuse delay compared to their counterparts the tyrants. Only useful thing you might gain from DEX is run speed, but lets face it; even with +5 DEX you ARE NOT going to outrun the slowest mage in DC.
You went -9 CON on a light armor... 1 back stab(crit) and you are eating dirt. You are not going to Evade skills, as you don't have UE2. Evasion is going to matter only when you face lower level opponents. At 76 + you are going to face opponents with epics which bolster their accurasy, gl evading that also.
Seriously you just killed survivability, which is your strong point, for what? A bit of agility stats that won't affect you since you are not an agile class to begin with?
Well, Its totally possible to have a good building using light armor in a gladiator or a duelist but you must keep in mind youll sacrifice some attributes of the char for it.
nop. there is no light set that doesnt have a better heavy counterpart.
I play with a light armor gladiator and my building is:
Nightmare light set +3/+4
Dyes: +4str/-4con -- +4dex/-4con -- +4 wit/-4int
Augmented Kesh*Kesh+6 (+1.6 Dodge and +11.6 Mdef)

enjoy your cast speed for that [censored] wit dye. other than that, u would be better of with tallum heavy both pve and pvp wise. skill refresh and pdef is what matters in a glady pvp setup. in pve, u will take less damage due to higher pdef, kill the mob faster and hit harder. tallum heavy is superior to nm light, accept it.
When you use a light set in a gladiator you must keep in mind that you'll sacrifice your resistance to physical damage for speed, evasion, critical and accuracy. It, btw, works great in the PvE (I can solo in Martydon self-buffed at level 66) and works good with classes that doesnt have great accuracy or low quantity of damage like dark avengers, paladins, sword singers, blade dancers and shilien knights.
u ll sacrifice physical damage for jack [censored] would be the right thing to say. nm light +1 dex <~> tallum heavy +2str. where's teh crit, speed, accuracy and evasion your talking about? we are talking about less than 1% increase in any of these except maybe evasion. and again, its your imagination that its working good with low damage classes. they are dealing low damage to you in general, so your mind thinks its the same. 30, 40, 50 dmg its all the same to you, but its not. you would be left with much more hp/cp while being in heavy.
When you fight classes that have ranged attacks the light armor buildings will help you busting your speed (with sonic move you get as fast as a dagger or an archer with dash if you are with ww or greater haste potion)
get a clue and stop imagining things plz. you are making other ppl confused with these lies. light armor does not give glad any speed boosts. that happens only with tyrants due to a passive (agile movement) that only gets activated while wearing light. nm light (OR ANY OTHER +DEX light armor) will NOT boost your speed significantly. having 240, 235, 238 speed... it doesnt matter. it wont make a difference i can guarantee u that.
Once you fight classes that are great damage dealers it doesnt mater if you are using heavy or light armor. Gladiators can fight them both ways. What really maters is your tactic once they just make damage on you. These classes are destroyers, other gladiators, warlords and any kind of close fighter that can inflict lots of damage.
it matters. i see no point in getting hit for more damage, with no obvious benefits. good luck fighting a destro in light, hilarious. and what tactic r u talking about? explain that. look, a gladiator with perfected pvp skills will beat a bought hawkeye, destro or whatever most of the time, even if using light. but when u start facing opponents that at least understand the basics of pvp and are geared well, u dont have much room for tricks. u have to go all the way to win, and that is to use heavy.
When you fight mages you def doesnt mater so try to find a good jewel set to protect you.
correct, but atk speed will matter. u think nm light with +1 dex and its uber skill refreshing and mdef boosting capabilities will save u? tallum heavy is the way to go yet again...
Gladiators are natural damage dealers and all the gladiators power is in his skills and not in the damage he can inflict in the normal hit. getting a TSS+DSS combo really needs a lot of knowledge indeed. maybe for someone that just bought his duelist, but not for me sorry. light will not make u do any skill faster. GET INTO YOUR HEAD that +1 or +2 dex is JACK [censored] ******it.
You, as a light armor gladiator have to look for a dodge augmentation, and at the same time, something that makes possible to you to hit faster.
yay at least that was creative
In the other side I can say that the damage youll receive from your enemies will be a little higher (at last 50%) but you can deal with it if you are skillful.
i think its close to 20% not 50%. pvp skill can help yes, but u need knowledge to back it up. and i ask, do u claim to have skill and knowledge about glads?
Light gladiators arent better than heavy gladiators; they just are other kind of fighter.
no they are worse.
Gladiators can be faster as daggers (in change of the combat resistance) or hard as destroyers (in change of the speed)
hi! in change of brain asap
If you are looking for attack speed (what means different as skill speed) go for a Tallum set, If you want to resist players attacks go for a majestic set, if you want to go for skills speed and some chance of avoid attacks (I, personally can avoid 33% of the attacks of a dark avenger at my level) go for the right light set.
majestic only resists stun not general attacks. and a gladiator that knows the basics of his class doesnt need it. war frenzy,lionheart,non-gimped con,a potential zaken and stun is gone. and hooray for being able to evade 1/3 against a -dex non-blunt char, that is great indeed.
Gladiators arent just a class that use dual swords and hit like crazy. Gladis can use blunts and two hand weapons. All depends of your play-style.
76+ thats not effective at all. ppl have boss jewels for one so its pointless to try and stun. and then u will loose the hp/cp/mp bonus so forget it.
Im good on light armor. Actually I defeated a level 68 blade dancer and I just lost the cp, I defeated other gladiators, archers and daggers in +- 5 levels upper or lower my level.
and i defeated a 78 BD full S-grade including boss jewels that ud'd and pulled a DB focus on me in my 75's with tsu*sls+4 and the most crap dyes ever. Glad is just a bad matchup for BDs, dont get that cocky
Using light doesnt make you a better fighter or a worst fighter. It just can make possible to you to choose your play-style.
or your death-style like james said
Just remember that the set cannot make all for you by itself. You need a good dye combo, the right augmentation and a good SA in your weapon.
i dont depend on augments to win in pvp. speaking of dyes, do u claim to have a good dye combo yourself? cos if u do u need to wake up friend
Mix your skills in a good combo and dont be afraid to use some skills that gladiators normally dont use like Hummer Crush and Fatal Strike (they are useful if your skill delay is high).
if ur skill delay is high reroll, u r playing the wrong class
The best part of been a gladiator is that you can use almost all the fighter equipments in the game (even with a bow and vicious stance you can inflict a great damage).
VS is crap with bows. only usefull if your patk is low. glads with bows=crap. unless they have bd+sws+cov+cat. and in that case, VS is a waste of time again.
I have tested to use Light armor, but I had a SE buffing me and in PvE it made no diffrence at all. hunting none stop with heavy as light.
But in PvP heavy will win all the time, but if you are like me you rather die and look good then look like [censored] and win :D
First of all I made this building for PvE, not for PvP, as you can see I choose an armor that gives to me a certain amount of vr.
The strong point you say that doesnt exist is the real quick skill delay. Its faster than the other gladiators.
It's not a question of speed or critical (that helps a lot in pve) but a boost evasion really helps you against lower accuracy classes as tankers and some archers.
Once I talk in a light gladiator I talk in the right dye combination for it. You can think (and I wont say you are wrong, only different) that gladiators should use +dex and +str, or +str and +con. In part I think the same way. The dex bonus is very important once you go for a light fighter. SO you can use +5 dex and the speed, evasion, critical and accuracy bonus wont be that 1% you talked about, but much more. Look:
Attributes and Bonus
Str+4:
8% Patk
Dex+5:
5%Speed
5%Crit
5%At Spd
2,63 Acc
2,63 Eva
For sure youll lose some Hp, Def, Cp, Weight limit and breathe gauge.
From now Im talking about lower level gladiators (around 52-75).
For sure all of us know that there is not a right set for a gladiator in S grade once anyone of them has the right bonus for this class. The IC set is made for tankers and its bonus is completed with shield, only and the Draconic set is a light set for daggers and archers. Anyway, youll have to keep one of them or take an A grade set to +6.
Now, once you spoke about attributes ill paste something interesting here:
First of all I made this building for PvE, not for PvP, as you can see I choose an armor that gives to me a certain amount of vr.
The strong point you say that doesnt exist is the real quick skill delay. Its faster than the other gladiators.
So you made it for PvE.. ok...
Then you say the strong point is skill reuse (even though, Tallum would give you faster attack speed, thus faster skill reuse). Do you spam specials in PvE? Of course not. Didnt think so.
It's not a question of speed or critical (that helps a lot in pve) but a boost evasion really helps you against lower accuracy classes as tankers and some archers.
I thought you said you made it for PvE? Although, lets go to PvP... you think that evasion is going to help you?
Buy a clue... a single toggle by the Archer and hes negated your entire +5 dex. (Accuracy ftw) Dont you feel useless now? Especially considering you've gimped your con into the ground...
-------------
Things to note, This version of L2 Calc does not show the increased evasion and accuracy, that characters see past 70.
---------
One of the glads greatest strengths is their ability to chain skills. Skill reuse benefit by +attack speed and +DEX is rather minimal, and is offset by the fact that the Gladiator class as a whole got a boosted skill reuse time in an earlier chronicle, effectively making them less Dependant on attack speed for reuse. Meaning that at worst if TSS is refreshing there are literally DSS, Blaster, Storm, Buster (benefiting from charges) or TS (not benefiting from charges. I guarantee you even with your attack speed and +Dex you can't have all 6 skills recycling waiting for reuse.
And as someone else brought up you don't use skills in PVE
Actualy the strong point for PvE is the incressed accuracy, critica, evasion and attack speed (combined with the vr* in my case). thats true, and I'm not saying that i didnt say it before but once you are in a pvp the skill reuse (it's not only TSS and DSS like some people think) is very interessant too.
As i said before im talking about the gladiator itself not about an ubber evil version of it with buffs, songs and dances. Anyway, as you can see there is adifference around 10 points, at last in the status (evasion, critical, speed and attack speed) between the light and the heavy armor in S grade. There is also a difference in the MP too. Those are the good points of a light armor gladiator, I think.
I dont know if you got the point but what I'm trying to say is that I think the light glaidator a good character for playing.
There is a real lose of Hp, yes, but as I said before, you can deal with it.
The critical increase on +DEX is nigh negligible, the same with the attack speed. Accuracy should be a non-issue anyway if you are hunting mobs you can dodge.
VR is impacted primarily by DPS, which means +STR > +DEX by a massive margin.
A version designed for a sucky environment (i.e. no buffs) isn't even really worth discussing.
There is exactly one reason to go light on a gladiator, and that is fashion *******. Whether you think that's a good reason to pick armor or not is a different question, but trying to convince people of its efficiency (when you probably haven't even tried the heavy armour ) is ludicrous.
The gain of DEX is rather minimal for PvE. The few points u gain in critical means nothing. If you are missing on mobs, use accuracy toggle. I am even missing on some mobs with acuracy+aq+baium (which give more accuracy then +5 DEX will, in case u wonder) on me, what makes you think just +5 DEX is going to change anything? Evasion been there done that. Unless you are fighting really low level mobs, it doesnt even help you. Atk speed gain? Ever heard of tallum heavy? Gives more atkspeed then +5DEX ever will.
NM light armor IMO is ineffective and useless. The VR bonus means nothing. If I ever decided to use light it would rather be DC light, gives you better stuff then NM ever will.
But lets face it, A grade heavy sets are better suited for gladiators then light. Like I said before, the day NC Soft gives all warrior classes the same bonuses for wearing light as tyrants, such as increased speed and crit chance reduction, is the day I will consider.
As you said Husje, it looks like as a question of personal opinion. IMO it's more effective then the heavy to hunt mobs. The evasion bonus really works in these cases.
BTW MalineII, i used heavy in the gladiator at C grade, B grade and A grade. I tryed chain set, full plate set, composite set and theca set (At C grade), Doom heavy, Doom light, BW heavy, Avadon Heavy and Zubei light (at B grade),and finaly Majestic heavy, Dark crystal heavy, Tallum heavy (the best for pvp til now) and Nightmare light at A grade. Cause of this please, dont tell me I dont have experience with heavy armors.
Im just trying a new building and i think it can be possible.
Look at JohnLuke post:
IC Set +0 / Tallum *DLE +4 / Maj jewels / 78 Duelist
74 PP buffs , Songs (Earth, Hunter), Dances (Warrior Fury), Duelist Spirit, WarCry
There is a great difference in the evasion, critical rate, speed and attack speed in change of some HP and P.def in these kinds of gladis. In any moment i said that one is better than the other but that they are different and that it should be god to try it.
At A grade Husje, ill consider about trying a Dc, it can be good cause of the p.attack bonus. I'll check it and then ill post here again.

As Charm already pointed out one issue.. I'll do the rest :P
The critical rate is 19 higher. Thats *.19%* more critical. (Thats a ., a 1, and a 9) Do the math and tell me thats going to factor into anything.
Furthermore, a Glad never relies on Crit for PvP. If your swinging your swords around, you've already lost the fight.
Accuracy dosent matter again, as you wont be missing mobs and it certainly dosent effect you in the slightest for PvP (Sonic Rage, Blaster, etc miss? lol..), nor will the evasion help you either.. as its horribly broken at high levels. Better now @80, but still, your not 80.
Speed? Are you really mentioning speed? Will that help you catch.. any.. class? Of course not. Your slow as a snail, thats why they gave you Sonic Move. Learn to use it. You dont need dex for your run speed. (Moving from mob to mob? even more of a joke)
The ONLY issue (and I do mean only) is Attack Speed. However, if I'm PvE'ing, I'll be wearing Tallum instead of IC, which would put my attack speed higher... and if I'm PvP'ing its not a issue again, because you have a huge amount of HP/CP (Remember, Vitality & CoV will favor the higher number).
Sure everyone can play his toon as he wants and with what he can affords.
and finaly Majestic heavy, Dark crystal heavy, Tallum heavy (the best for pvp til now)
When I was at A grade I used majestic hvy for pvp (stun resist & higher pdef) and tallum for xp (att.speed).
Now, I use IC for pvp and tallum for xp except if I have to tank hard mobs and I have BD dances.
Lets set a few things straight here because this thread contains an amazingly high level of noobery from people that think they know what they are talking about but really don't.
First of all, it is not only UE lvl 2 which can avoid physical skills, lvl 1 of the skill which all archers have also can avoid physical skills.
Heavy armor is hands down the best choice for gladiators. Majestic heavy is nice if you're hunting stunner mobs but otherwise, tallum heavy is easily the best set for PVE. For pvp tallum heavy would be my choice of pvp set, fighting peopel with stun? Bust out Lionheart, wonderful buff that is. For PVP at S grade, IC is your only s grade choice. I've ran with both Drac and IC and there is no comparison, IC owns face. The only other armor I would consider wearing other than IC is a +6 Tallum heavy set and I'm actually tempted to try and make one tbh.
Tat setup, for pvp you can go a couple of different ways, all can work to your advantage. I've see +5STR -5CON used VERY successfully by at least one very skilled duelist by the name of cienight. I've used this setup myself on my Duelist and it is pretty nice. The route a lot of end game gladi's seem to go is the +5STR +4CON route (all -DEX obviously) but personally, just for now at least I've gone with +5STR -5DEX in an IC heavy set with +4 S duals. With clan skills it equates to like 86xx HP and 66xx CP with 1400+ p.def with pp buffs (no zerk) A lot of damage able to be soaked up there I think, even more so if the +4CON tat was applied which I'll maybe give a try out over the next couple of weeks.
As for wearinf light armor to PVE in, it's not "wrong" per se you can get away with using it, you won't die and you can xp perfectly well using it but personally I wouldn't bother using any LA other than plated leather at lower levels. BW at B grade if the p.def of PL is causing problems and Tallum at A grade...Tallum heavy for a grade is simply more efficient than any light armor counterpart. Boost to STR, attack speed and increased weight limit so you can go xp longer before going back to town to restock.
NM light is for tyrants that want to use Bison (as they should do as soon as they get the skill).
First i wouldnt use light armor for the life of me, lol, i've tried it and i hate it, lol. (thats because i was a noobie at the time and never bothered to put points into light armor mastery either though it was really early so the points wouldnt have mattered THAT much, lol)
But what i find funny here is the guy is simply saying that in pve you can get away with using light armor just fine, not as good as heavy but still acceptable.. which you can. When he does that he gets banged up on by people saying "you're an idiot, it doesnt work in pvp"... its kinda like playing halo or unreal and saying "you suck at CS".. wth? o.O lol
PvP and PvE are completely different and he was at first Only talking about the pve aspect of it and saying it sucks at pvp when the point was pve is like throwing the argument at a wall and watch it bounce back.. they have nothing to do with eachother, lol. If the players are new and go his pve route and later on start thinking about pvp i'm pretty sure they'll ask, get some advice that are good by the time they get there and for whatever's been nerfed or boosted.. and follow those for the most part and experiment themselves *shrug* big deal

Why would you advise new players to NOT use what is best for their class would be my question.
"Hey, Plains Walker.. use Heavy and get a Shield bro.. its hawt"
This discussion is not just about PvE. He started by saying LA is good because of DEX, then he made reference how good it is in PvP.
I could use arcana robes in single hunting in PvE and still be good that is not the point. Try using a light armor when you are pulling and AoEing in Pagan or Forge (Yes I can still AoE in those places with my Duelist as the main AOE DD).
In PvP LA doesnt have a place yet IMO. Unless they give them the same passives as tyrants such [censored] increased speed and critical dodge, I dont see anything worth in LA.
At the same time I bet you'd be one of those people that call anyone 75+ with single digit pvp count a botter.
Probably true.. and he's afraid to PVP sub 7x.. actually it's way more fun before you get to S-grade and all those imba boss jewels IMO, especially 4x-5x pvp! w00t!
