Most threads where asking when CT1 was coming so we could plan for it not asking for it next day. What is ticking most people off is the lack of warning on exactly when the patch would happen. There are no complete skill trees in ENGLISH for the new races and the PTS seemed to have more problems then a Microsoft Windows release. Giving 36 hours notice of a major patch that will require alot of people to upgrade there computers to even run it correctly is CRAP. Most of the major changes for CT1 haven't even been explained like server transfers and sex changes ect. These were said to be available when CT1 went live well thats tomorrow but we don't even have a cost or restrictions for it. All the players of lineage want is to know is what the changes are and how these changes are going to effect them.
If people really need to upgrade their computers then they really cut it close as we are almost halfway through with December.
They said December and that should have been warning enough. I don't see what an exact date is going to do other than let you plan for another week or so.
The bigger issue is really the bugs. They are either fixed on an internal system or ... well.. "or"...
I don't think CT1 requires any system up-grades... runs on the same system as Interlude.
They never explain all the changes until the patch is out, we always know some, but never all of them. The changes will be explained in full when it goes live as with every other patch.
Also, none of you know how well CT1 has been fixed since the test server. Test servers are always full of bugs, even up to the very end. The whole point of the test server is to FIND all the bugs before the patch goes live, it is not nessesary to put the completely fixed version of the patch back onto the test server... Bottom line: None of you know how well CT1 has been patched-up yet.
I can't remember how long ago it was when we were told that CT1 was coming in December. The moment it was released as Beta in Korea we knew the approximate date of release.
Few months maybe? More than enough time to prepare.
I hate saying this, but it is the same with every subscription to anything out there. If you don't like it, you know where the door is.

I'm not sure where you have been hiding..but there has been news floating around since June (http://l2vault.ign.com/View.php? view=Articles.Detail&id=22) that it was going live in the 4th Quarter of 2007. And then if you want another "reminder" that was a little more specific, there were multiple posts about it happening in December.
Honestly, if you were caught completely off guard by the announcement yesterday..then you really need to read the forums more.
edit: *shakes fist* dang you purp for beating me to the point :)

I even posted a link showing the release date of Dec 10th. So, I'm ****** it is two days late. I quit
Just kidding about the quitting part.
When it comes to buying/upgrading computers the longer you wait the cheaper/better equipment you can get. Yes they said they where hoping to get CT1 out in December but then again they say alot of things and half never happen how or when its said. Sever transfers anyone? There was never a firm date until 4pm CST yesterday when it would come out just generic hopes and dreams.
With all the bugs on PTS I doubt anyone was thinking CT1 would come out till end of Dec or early Jan. For those who say they may have just not completely patched PTS and are waiting for Live well thats just stupidity then on NCSofts part. Whats the point of PTS if the patches are not tested? Those patches could cause more problems then the original bugs. So I can expect to have a bug free CT1 on live come wed night right? If any of the bugs posted about in PTS are still around come live like last time they did this dont I have the right as a paying customer to complain.

Are you seriously suggesting that people are going to go out and buy a new compuyter to player CT1? Even more absurd than that, why would the CT1 elease date have anything to do with buying a new computer??? You can buy a new comp anytime you want, regardless of CT1.
CT1 shouldn't even require up-grading....

Complain all you want man, people have been complaining about NCsoft since the begining of L2. But as already said, if it ****** you off that much, leave the game. Why play a game that is so broken as you put it? Leave.
2. the CT1 client is actually more ressource intensive than the Interlude client is, even at same settings.
3. The latests announcement (gamespy article) said "end of December".
That said, they have to reach the christmas sales and they probably had little idea what day everything would be ready until right up until Monday, so its a bit unfair to expect more warning and yeah also, even if people are upgrading etc. its not really that big of a deal, they should just wait a few days until their card arrive or play at lowest settings. (if possible)
It was posted somewhere that the new recommended processor was a core 2 duo or better. hence if you where playing with the min specs before of a 800 mhz I doubt you would be able to play once CT1 went live. As far as people upgrading computers just for a game thats about the dumbest response I have ever heard. 90% if not more of computer upgrades are due to games. Word processors and spread sheets don't require much in the way of graphic cards, processor speeds and ram. I normally build a new computer every few years just to be able to play new games on the market and keep up with operating system and graphic engine requirements. The computer I had when I started playing lineage 2 with is now my secondary computer. I used to be able to play full screen 1024 x 768 with full graphics 2 boxing now I can barely 2 box at 800 x 600 low rez hence I only use it for my healer.
... recommended processor was a core 2 duo or better.
So I bought AMD :p
This engine is going through changes, no doubt about it. Problem is it does not natively support modern nifty GFX accelerator features, and it won't. Because developer is working on new engine (Unreal 3) thus concentrating most of their resources there. If Warfare games want to keep up to date with newer technology that we are pushed to buy, they can stick some eyecandy patch on top it, rebuild textures, add detailed models and transparencies and whatever, but it's not as effective as natively done in graphic code for modern cards itself. They'd need to rebuild code completely which they won't. So it relys more and more on main CPU power rather than managing GFX card.
(We had the same problem when I was working as game tester some time ago, simply game developing cycle is slow and engine became obsolete)
Big difference in ressource usage (two characters logged in into the same area)
you do know de-alloc will commence once you alt-tab out of the game, giving you these memory differences right? That's pretty much a core DirectX feature by default. To be fair you should do seperate tests, instead of an alt-tab.
(I do agree the new client is more resource demanding though, just nagging at your way of proving it)
