I wanted to give everyone an update on the status of the planned account service offerings. My goal was to get the services up and running in time for the 1st Throne launch. Unfortunately, it's taking a little longer than I expected. Due to the complexity of both the front and back end systems, my new target launch date is early 2008. We are currently in the testing phase for each of the three services. It is very important to me that the processes work as smooth as possible for the players. I will be posting details of how each service works shortly after the new year, and hope to have them live a couple weeks afterwards. I appreciate everyone's patience regarding the delay and in the meantime encourage you to check out all the new content in the 1st Throne: The Kamael update.
Can we get something better than just a general time frame? I know its great for you guys to give general time frames because you can never be at fault when you fail to deliver. At least set a date to set a date.

Eve Online just gave an update to their users, and once downloaded and installed, it ERASED EVERYONE'S BOOT.INI FILE.
It's not like NCSoft ruined your life, and if they did, you really need a new one anyway.

Feel sorry for NC? After years of the absolute worst customer service and blatant backpedaling, people have a right to complain. Back when NC actually cared about L2 there were promises made about things the players were asking for. "Soon" in Nc's dictionary means some time before the game dies. Which judging by the lack of action on the boards, light servers, and quite possibly the buggiest update to be launched, will infact be "soon".

I'm sorry, I thought as a paying customer I have a right to complain when I am not happy and not being afforded services promised to me.
As mentioned before in this thread, paid services have been promised for quite a long time......well...... years now.
And they did say that paid services will be made available with the launch of CT1, in at least 3 articles which were linked to the game log in screen in the past few weeks.
I dont just Want to be able to transfer to a different server, I have to be able to move at least one toon so that I can make one of the new Kamael toons on one of my 2 full accounts.
After playing this game since OB I am not willing to throw away all the work I put into those toons and just delete one.
Since I dont bot or get my levels by leeching or getting powerleveled they are valueable to me.
So, I believe I absolutely have a right to complain, not that it will get me anywhere with ncsoft.
i made the mistake of putting my main on the server i actually wanted to play...where oh where did i go wrong??! guess im the only one who thinks if you wanted to switch servers that you should have done just that: switched! =p

I log onto l2.com today and see throne went live? Wow...that was realllllly unexpected. Last time I see PTS lots of stuff is still broken.
Now this, okay fair enough it isn't ready to go live yet. But why give us no information? Sorry but I didn't even plan to use the services and I am a bit dissapointed by NC on this.

and to those defending ncsoft, yeah it makes you a fanboi when you defend the supremely lackluster support we've been given. It smacks very much of "thank you sir, and may I have another?", IMO.
1. The first "promise" isn't really related to the other. They probably saw what was being promised in korea, then went too far with it...hence why they're really gunshy about giving us anything nowadays.
2. They haven't exceeded any deadline. They said they were aiming for it, not that it was set in stone. I'd rather have the service working properly than having it rushed out and peoples characters go bye bye (anyone remember UO's launch of server transfers? ZOMG MY CHARACTER IS GONE!)

And posting on Warcry but that went to hell and no one post there anymore that manners. Now I post a lot more here but OMG they never cryed like this on warcry I come here and its WOW.......just WOW. (and I'm not talking about the game WOW).

There was no justifiable reason to string people along like they were...unless stringing people along was the goal. Here let me put it this way:
1. Let's say it was a suprise and they honestly thought that they could finish it on time. They walked into the office yesterday believing that it would be ready. Then how is it going to take an undetermined amount of time to finish it if you were honestly that close?
More plausible is that...
2. They have known for days, probably weeks, and maybe even months that it simply didn't fit into the production schedule. That makes them, uh...human. There's absolutely nothing wrong with missing an already iffy deadline when it's a feature that isn't mission critical. Choosing not to share that information and continue to mislead people is where it becomes problematic and very unfortunate.
Waiting for the forum to explode when you know people are expecting a service and then telling them the same news that you could have shared at any point in the past is just lame.

I use to play a game called There back when it was essentially in a protracted beta phase. They would take the game down for hours a day, everyday. If it was up on Tuesday's at all people were overjoyed and they'd hold events to celebrate(kookie, but seemed cute at the time). It acutally got really fun because the people who ran it were unbelievably open as to its progression going as far as to hold hour long State of There addresses and developing a rotating Member Advisory Board as voted on by us, the players.
It's amazing how extreme situations can be handled to the point where folks actually enjoy it. When you incorporate them into the process and make them feel like they have a say all of the sudden hardships don't seem so hard.
Or you could go with "Plan B" and withold information until even the moderates get pissy. Some transparency buys you a lot of credibility and let's be honest...you were going to have to tell people eventually so why sit on the info?

I played wow for about 2 hours hated it.
I played EVE online for about 6 Hours and that's 6 hours of my Life I will never get back :(
I played UO for about 30 mins and then I ask my self Why did I even load this on my system
I played Earth and Beyond for 2 years best dam MMO I ever played now they knew How to run a game and yes they did it a lot better then L2. They Events alone blow evey singe event L2 does away by a long shot and they had they had bots also they were just macros that ran outside the game. but E&B made changes to the game that made it hard for them 2 run the macros.
But with the new games coming out and E&B running on a old 3d engine and steady declining player base EA killed the game (worst day ever) .
Yes L2 has issuses
Yes they GM don't seam to care
Yes lately they have been very late with announcements
and yes the Korens have it better then we do.
But we have a sucky player base it's a lot time and effort for them convert the game for us and the payoff is not even as great as the payoff for Korea.

I look at Alyra she's trying and I'm sure she has lot on her plate but she stilll try's hard and they piss on her.
I think that someone forced their hand a little early.
Think about it. Usually they announce that the new update will go live about a week or so in advance, right? But in this case, suddenly it's "next day".
So let's say they were originally planning to release the game in another week. That makes them a little behind with the services as it seems that they are going to implement them in the first week or second week of January.
However, NC Korea or whoever says, "NO... NOW".
So they have to scramble, get it out and still deal with the fact that the gap between services and CT1 release is now greater.
The real issue here is one that has always plagued NC. They just aren't transparent enough. I'm not talking about telling the playerbase everything. But the info really trickles in. I do know that NCNA does not get info as readily as people think they do and that Korea just hands it out as they feel like it. Also, I have always felt that since NC Korea is calling the shots that they give off a rather arrogant "vibe". This might not be the case but after playing for 3+ years, I just feel that they will do what they want, on their own schedule and the players will deal with it.
Keep in mind, NC NA takes its cue from the parent company. You can't have Ornery or Alyra coming to the forums saying "Korea has screwed us over again and we are trying to play catch-up". Not going to happen.
As a few have suggested, they really should tell us what the transfers will entail, sex change/name change, etc.
The playerbase has been "patient" (given the years of patience they have had to summon in order to deal with a lot of issues) and perhaps a bit of quid pro quo is in order.
If indeed these services are just weeks away then it should not be a total surprise as to how they will be implemented.
So, perhaps a "these services are coming in a few weeks and this is what will happen" announcement will at least ease a bit of the frustration that the players have developed.

I started first day in open beta on bartz and I moved to lionna the day Lionna went up. I didn't join the forums till 2005 but I didn't start reading and posting till late 2006 just didn't take the time was 2 busy playing.
I cut down on playing and starting to post now that I know a lot about the game and can be helpfull 2 new people plus some clan mates said I was very helpfull on warcry with new people and would like see me post here. But it's a lot diffrent here a lot of angry people.

I am sure most of those steps have been taken already. The next step would be to make a public complaint.... which is what we are doing.

We dont hate the game, we love the game. Some of your most passionate customers are going to be your biggest complainers... those are the ones you want to keep.
We do hate NCSoft US however. Or more precisely, the way NCSoft US treats us, which in turn is how NCSoft Korea treats them. Its a vicious circle.

I was EnB'r too, sad freakin day when that got shut down. Halloween event alone, like 3 weeks gaming was better than most all my MMO's gaming experience put together, during that ONE event.
As for here, been here since OB myself, and I remember the times where you could come here when patches were going thru and listen to everyone talk. After the patch was done, you got to see and here about the changes, some good some bad. The community has declined a bit here like Ash says. 20+ posts on the same thing. I dont mind a joke here and there, but jeez, it gets old everytime someone asks something and they are suppose to include which bot program they use, how much adena they have bought and how long have they owned their newly purchased character. Almost every time, those poor souls are accused of that right off.
I do understand the frustrations too. Seeing questions asked in worng section, when they could have looked in right section and found the answer. But you werent born knowing everything L2, give them a break.
As far as the server tansfer, and all that. So be it, if it takes a little bit to get it done, so what.

BTW, who said it would be done in Feb? Early 2008 could be June. It is all dependant on your interpretation of "Early".

If that was stated, I think a lot of us would give them a break. The fact that NCSoft as never admited that they messed up and are sorry for messing up, is what is really p!ssing us off the most. We are all human and mistakes are made - just admit to them.

I still want a SET IN STONE DATE. Something like "End of day January xx, 2008 these services will be available for use by customers" or at the very least "End of Day January xx, 2008 we will set a date for the launch of these services for use by customers". It is simple. GIVE A DATE or a date to set a date.

Ya know, when another game let me transfer my character for free it happened in under half an hour and I kept all my stuff.
It’s like waking up on Christmas morning only to see that there is no Santa. You did lead us to believe all things would be set in place. I’m sure you tried Tim and I understand some things are just not in your control. However, a heads up and a small apology might of buffered the disappointment. Hind sight is 20/20.
To address the comment about putting our mains on a server then wanting a change. Due to certain situations such as lousy politics, unbalanced game and mass cheating (botting, leaching and walker) which btw NCSoft refuses to address, yes some people would like to move to softer more relaxed server. Heck we work hard, raise families and here is not where we live our lives vicariously but come to actually function some what of a helpful community. Cut us some slack. Also the very LEAST NCSoft could of done to accommodate the fact that they could not give us the whole ball of wax was to give us a slot to create and have a Kamael. As we know many of us suffer from MCD and would of welcomed the opportunity to have one. Not everyone cheats and each char we own we own for a reason.
Ashley I wouldn’t be putting the word (NC Soft Intern) in my signature unless it’s a fact. NCSoft and L2 does not need anyone misleading their intents on this forum. And if you are an actual (Intern) then please practice on being precise in you your speech and thought patterns. Though I don't forsee you as being the next Mystrl (sighs missing her).
LC you truly have mastered the art of “Beg & Grovel” in game long before you ever posted here and to many in game and on the boards we know what the term kick back means and to whom it applies.
It's a great game with great people for the most part. We just wanted to be kept in the loop. Our player base might be larger if NCSoft addressed botting and walker more vigorusly but perhaps they are working on that too.

What happened with that is that the original server transfers were done manually by GMs by editing the databases directly. And while Korea could afford to do this, NA deemed it unfeasible.

The game wasn't made with server transfers in mind originally, and NA's excuse has been that they are waiting for better tools to make it easier to move characters between servers.
Yea, Ashley - you have some large [censored] to put "NC Intern" in your sign line... if it not true, and I worked for NCSoft, something very bad would happen to you. It not only is illegal to mis-represent yourself as a member of the company, it is also in bad taste.

Honestly I don't think it was NCSoft Korea that said this, probably NCSoft NA after Tabula Rasa flunking quite a bit, they want to squese the melon as quickly as possible and probably pushed for the release.
That being said, I can also in some part understand the way its going, it may be a pretty good hope for new player...the expansion can bring new players, the services won't really, so expansion trumphs services in this case.
And really, we don't know if they had everything down and all of a sudden one of them went "oh no, what about if something like this happens or someone does this, that would mess things up...back to the drawing board :( "...Honestly waiting a bit longer isn't going to kill us.
i appreciate the update. i am one who is highly dissapointed with the customer service. At least back in the day when u petitioned they would say screw off in person.. and every once in a while u would get a GM who was actually helpful.
I would not take the fact that they are yet again not releasing char transfers if they at least gave us info in a timely manner... with the custo0mer service being well automated messages 99.99% of the time of course people are going to get irritated. I have been hoping for this since C3.. Servers die, server politics get screwed up and ruins the game for alot of people.. thats why i changed servers in the first place. the idea of having my original first char back would be awesome! i can't wait, i shall be as patient as possible... but please dont make us wait another few years.... by then ill be reving up for L3...
OH and to soften the blow.. Please let us weaar our santa hats already! i got one for my birthday last year.. and this year for my birthday not only havent i gotten to wear my santa hat.. but i couldnt even play cuz of CT1!!! sucked BAD!

on the other hand, i bet you play on the only 3 servers that dont have population problems, so why would you care on transfering?

I am not sure who to blame, NCNA and Korea have equal fault imo. NCNA for delaying something that should not take very long from a database point of view. Other companies have done it before them.
Other things I find that are very lame is how they implemented the T-Shirts. It isnt something that unballances the game. It looks like the items them self isnt what you call the results of hard labour either. No meshes for wearing them, only stat increase. For a item that should have been ingame since the beginning, they really took their time with it.

For those that are trying to defend NCSoft: this is not a "****ed if you do, ****ed if you don't" scenario. Every company misses deadlines. Every...single...one. If NCSoft couldn't get character transfers to work then I and most other people could probably care less. What is bothersome is not telling anyone until the day of the projected release and only after a stink had been raised when they had to have known that it simply wasn't going to happen. Not telling anyone after having promised it for years? Uh, okay...folks might get a little peeved.
A development blog with thoughts on the game and updates would be nice. It won't happen since most MMO's are very guarded in regards to how and when they disseminate information, but I think a lot of that has to do with people just flat-out being paranoid control freaks. Those folks (http://www.wowwiki.com/Tseric) are fun for the whole family.
More importantly, Fire Roasted Tomato & Olive Oil Triscuits are pretty good.
Well I was hoping this would be ready by now, so I could play with my girlfriend before I go away. Oh well.
They are working on it and it will happen soon but I know how you feel I'm waiting on friends my self that want to leave Bartz and come Lionna. But don't give up hope just keep lvling it's coming :D
Regardless of leanings...how you haven't been banned is beyond me. I should have been banned a long time ago and as best as I can recall I've never said anything on par with what you have said in this thread.
I don't say that to disparage you. I'm just genuinely suprised. I really don't know how NCSoft has missed all of this.
Missing this mark isn't the big deal. A few extra weeks (if that's what they mean by early 2008) is not a big failure in itself. But after talking about it for so long, in combination with every other problem this game has, people have just had it.
