So, I'm doing a class transfer quest that takes me near the Monster Race Track. Several times, I hear a countdown from the kind of voice that tends to grab attention:
Ready
Ready
Ready
Ready
Ready
And since I play 2 accounts, I get this annoying voice in stereo. It turns out it's a voice doing a countdown for the races at the Monster RaceTrack. Rather annoying. That's my story, I bet there are a few others out there.
The one thing that I saw I do dislike the most so far is the GUI Change. Although I do like how the Inventory is stored now, and I like how they split of the skills, but I don't like the fact that every option has its own independant window, was easier before.

Indeed.
It was easier and much less cluttered. Tabs are our friends. Embrace tabs. Love tabs. Caress tabs.
Font overflow its boxes. Windows do not dock. Warehouse inventory window two times smaller than it was before. New items (like talismans) don`t stack. They added sound to PBD as if i`m getting hit by gladi combo, it freaks me out. Left Bracelet costs 7.7m - imo bit too much for a thing you might not be able to use tomorrow. Transformations skins are just same mobs skins and nothing new. Too many bugs went to live version.

Thats because they didnt find any way to fix the old GUI where the clan tab was showing under the character tab in tranparency :p
I like the first look I've had at some of the new features. There are some minor things to fix but overall it looks good.
I'm rather surprised by the "I hate the changes" threads as they all seem rather minor. Even the bug's highlighted so far aren't at all what the naysayers and chronically wounded predicted.
There were trolls posting that this short notice would mean the entire update wouldn't work!
Overall the changes are pretty positive. I've not had time to see much content but as for "new" bugs or problems--they certainly seem minor to me.
I had one negative reaction--I thought the healthbar seemed smaller and the numbers/font cover it a bit too much for my liking. As a solo DA I often take a beating and don't like to get too far down on health so the harder-to-see hp bar wouldn't be my first choice.
I noticed one bug myself, and that was that there was no interior decoration in the weapon/armor shop in Gludin--just 2 npc's standing in the empty room. Looks like that disconnected with the promotion.
Once again the game was off-the-charts, over-the-top with the new art work. Kamael area is in it's own way as captivating as DE village.
I am happy over all with it. I do hear an extra bell sound when I am hunting and picking stuff up. Its rather annoying to hear it all the time. And no, its not the quest bell, it more like "tea time" bell.
Also, the HP and mana bar colors are faded and harder to see. I like how it brightens up and flashes to let you know that you are about to die.
The font change is kinda a non-factor to me, fine with either one. What bugs me, is the new hotkey system as I use all 36 hotkeys so I get alot of skill "missfires" etc. when I press numbers and so on. Yes, I can go around this(hopefully) by assigning all the keys to G1-G18 on my keyboard, but with a properly done hotkey system, that would not be necessary.
The sounds and new spam are horrible, just horrible. Same as the way they made the GUI work. Hellooo, where's the good old tabs?
Windows not docking is another major issue... Well, that's only the GUI but if I go on ranting more about how much crap CT1 really is, they'll prolly just lock this one.
Don't get me wrong, I like the update for the most part - but I did prefer the previous set-up for the windows and menus. This new one is a bit more confusing.
Only thing I wish is they stop working on things that didn't really need a change,a nd fix things that could have used them. Like Clan Warehouses, I wish they would work on those already. Also wish that the Warehouses were stored like the inventory is now. Maybe next patch!
Anyone else hate the new text font? It's bigger and uglier. Why cant we have dynamic fonts? let us choose the size and type!
Thats actually the *old* font, from prelude/C1.
You can fix it and get the new font back in a round about way, but I think its a bug that old font is even there frankly.
Yup, it look like the old font. The one that they changed because several of the letters were difficult to distinguish from each other and it made scamming easier.
I don't like nothing is made about the macros. Neither new icons are added nor is added the feature to choose if the macro to proceed or not if a command cannot be executed.
Yep, major delay in picking still up. I hate how HoT heals/pots make your hp bar flash like it's having a siezure. Hate the no tabs thing.
Love the inventory sorting, but still cannot get use to the same the equipped items were all mashed together. But that may be from it being one way for like 4 years, then it getting an update :/
Not amused with the mob spell resists and 1 damage from nukes. Come on!!

was like that before c4 you will get use to it by hunting green mobs
The whole layout you will get use 2 had a hard time but got use 2 it on pts then when i came back to live 2 days before the patch I was lost cause I was so use 2 the new way lol
It must be worst then it was before I ahve not used my SH yet so I don't know how bad it is but yes you did fail more before C4 I'm not wrong I have an SH and on red's you fail more then c5 and interlude were you just owned reds.

Welcome to the world of "You Missed"
So glad I dumped my nuker in C4

Way to open your mouth about something you havent even tested ;)
It is far worse then in C5 or Interlude.
Nerf surender, nerf damage, bump up resists to mobs across the board = Hate to be a SPS.
I decided to go back to leveling my mystic muse, tried silenos before update, did ok, 4-6 hits to kill a mob, after update 5-10:-( same mobs, same buffs, same equipment:-( think i will retire the mm again and go back to being a dorf, less painful.
Even down to the bug where if you do a certain something (always happened to me with alt tabbing alot) the text will "bump up" across the board on your screen, which was what.. a C1 bug or so?
I hate the fact you can now target players and NPC's that your computer hasn't loaded yet just by clicking at their location. Very annoying in Giran ><
I haven't O.o
Also, just noticed that there's a 'bling' sound every time a party member picks up an item, same sound as when someone buys stuff from your sell shop.
I like that you can link your items in chat - BUT it's very annoying that you lose the info window when the text scrolls up, away from your mouse  It's especially bad with the Giran spam, incidentally where this function is used the most.

Yeah I noticed that too. I guess PMs will be the only way to use this feature.
The worse thing about this update is that it increased lag by about 300% overall. EVERYONE is complaining about the lag.
Nuker spell failures and M.Def on mobs is serious stuff. The new island thye added across for Alligator Island has almost all Aqua resist mobs and with +1 Hydro Blast and Surrender to Water they take 4-5 hits for a 77 Mustic Muse to kill wiht a +3 SoM.
I'll tell you once this downloading Odyssey ends. 6 hours and still being at around 35%...
Tell me about it, plus I've got a 3GB usage cap on my internet account so I'll be playing sometime next year. Looking at all these complaints I'm really wondering if it's worth carrying on.
I don't really have a problem with the speed of the updater ( I could most likely leave it running over night and be finished by morning) it's just the shear size of this piece of bloatware and the number of bugs that haven't been fixed from the PTS. NCsoft is more interested in quantity that quality.
Another thing I've noticed, sometimes I just can't get my SE to start buffs with the buff macros. If I wait a bit and try pressing a few other buttons, I can get the buffing process to start. But why? And yeah, as other people have said, the windows not docking and breakup of a tabbed window into many windows is annoying. On the plus side, if you happen to have a fairly good, new computer, as I do now, the general look of the client is a little nicer. If you have an older, slower computer, I suspect the nicer look has a downside for performance.
Then perhaps you should go play a game with less graphics quality and less content so you don't have to download so much. This is hardly "bloatware" and there's not that many bugs left compared to how many were fixed and compared to the size of NCSoft NA L2 team.
Maybe play WoW?...oh wait their client is over 8 Gb in size, larger than the CT1 client.
Yeah, I guess your right, considering how much free content we are getting with this upgrade I really should have no cause to complain. I'm more annoyied with the stupid system in this country that puts a 3GB usage cap on a standard connection.( I don't use that much normaly so It's not worth me spending mega-bucks on a connection with no limit.)
I just reinstalled WoW and it fills 8 Gb on my harddrive, no mods. (thats with Burning Crutch expansion of course :p ) I guess with a little cleanup after install it would be smaller, but meh, considering the graphics.
In the past you can port to town, click somewhere and you run to the spot. Now if I click on a spot where someone happens to be standing/sitting I click on an avatar and go nowhere. This is before the avatar loads up. I end up clicking everywhere and get nowhere because usually someone is sitting somewhere in Giran. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!! This will get worst with sieges.
T1 client does too much checking. I don't know what it is checking but just rotating the camera causes lag. The lag on pickup really jacks up the cpu usage.
I hate the new minimap in town. I can't just run to target anymore. We need an option to have a plain background for the minimap.
I'm talking about the radar map.
Unless your party members are stood 3 feet away from you, they dont appear in the radar. Go try locating a party member in the Necros/Catas using radar. Previously their little green dots were on the edge of the compass and you could see a general direction.
i personally dont like the new mini map, the font i can deal with, the lag from this update is pretty bad but once again i can deal with it. what i really dont like, is in our friend chat box, they changed the colors so its **** near impossible to see when someones talkin to you
I use Enter Chat. </3 this update. Actually, it was easily by passed by just using hotbar 1 and 2 as the same, but if I want to have more than one hotbar up, the first two are doubled leaving me with only one extra. And now using alt+n doesn't bring you to certain hotbar anymore :(
Think the nuke mini-nerf is justified, but it does get a bit old.
Anyone else crit when they try to move from fullscreen to windows mode? Easily fixed but VERY annoying.
Graduating - leaves it on (can you put it back on after taking it off?)
I just tested it on my alt SH that graduated past chronicle. I can remove and wear armor anytime without any problem.
Same here all alts I made in C5 that are 60+ now can wear it. I think it only affects people not in a clan with an Academy or if still 1st class not in an academy. Which is good got sick of people getting the armor then leaving thinking they could just wear the armor without being in a clan. :p
You go into your system folder ---> option.ini (you might not have file extensions viewable, so then it'd just be option) ---> open with notepad ---> under the [Video] heading type in StartupFullScreen=False And there ya go. I don't know why it crit's out, for now I'm just satisfied that it's fixed.
The blinking hp is going to cause someone to have a seizure. Especially after popping a heal pot.
I would like to reiterate how bad this is.
When it blinks "out" it seems like you have no hp left. There have been several times I've looked up only to be confused as to what my health actually was.
Seriously, seriously hate the Devs... in the immortal voice of Eric Cartman... "I hate you guys".
The new font is horrendous. Also, the fun I cut this out with MS Paint texture glitches around the target bubbles(will post a pic when I get home) are really annoying.
was like that before c4 you will get use to it by hunting green mobs
Spell failure like this was not in C4 if thats what you were talking about.
Entirely wrong, sorry.
Seconded. I've seen this suggestion to hunt green mobs several times now, and no one who says this has an idea of how significant the spell failure rate is. If the failure chance were at least eliminated by attacking lower-level targets, it would make some sense.
One should also keep in mind that they expect high-level nukers to be hunting mostly whites, yellows, and pinks.
Some players like to complain that nuker XP is so good that this change is unimportant or even balancing, but I suspect that those players are going on the assumption that every nuker walks around with an OOP support team that consists of an SE at minimum, possibly a 78 EE and BD as well. Not everyone has these luxuries, and it's often those players you see complaining that their nukers level poorly already.
For example, someone around here stated that even an Sps is one of the fastest-leveling classes in the game. Yeah, they do fine with a couple of rechargers and stacked magic buffs, but they are rather painful to level without those things, and making spells fail for half or 1 damage a noticeable percentage of the time certainly didn't improve life for players without stacked setups.

the flashing low hp is quite annoying(if not distracting), especially if you are using CDL. as if controlling a summon, silencing mobs, nuking, and activating shot by hand isnt intense enough, now there is a flashing red light on my screen :P.
also ellie, the mobs nuke me for 1 damage too sometimes so i guess it goes both ways.
as for slow pick ups,i only notice it if i am poling in the cats and thats only if someone else is also picking up too. i think its just lagg.
Actually, I find that the flashing HP helps me a little more when it comes time to frenzy / guts & zealot.
I knew where 30% was before, and saw the change. But with the flash, now the healers with me know that as soon as they see that the Hulk is about to come out.
The old font was horrendous lol... at least i thought so ^_^, a lot of things about the GUI are just pretty vulgar in general, and really look outdated too! (*~*)
so many changes.. so little patch notes
i hate the way you can't open your inventory when you are looking in your warehouse or when you are buying stuff from an npc (it was nice to check what supplies you have so you know which ones to get :/)
and the pickup delay, that is just wrong... another CT1 annoyance :/
on the pts, you could hear when someone recommended you which I was happy about. It's gone now on live, way too low to hear it unless you have volume higher which makes everything else way too loud :( We need more range in the sound and graphic options, a LOT more range.
has anyone else noticed that prophet/hierophant buffs are slowed down a lot in cast speed? It's hard enough buffing a full party or for a siege/raid :p but my SE's buffs seem faster? Weirdddddddddd
and the load screen and updater say "copyright 2004" LOL :p
and now that you can get newbie buffs til almost lvl 40, we need newbie guides in towns like dion, giran, hv, oren and others instead of having to port all the way to gludio for them :/

Alyra - can you please change the title on the release notes to:
"Here is only 50% of the stuff that was changed for CT1 - the other 50% go figure it out and if you do, we will neither confirm nor deny those changes."

I feel the need to mention the seizure inducing flashing of the HP bar again... Did they think that near death experiences needed to be more intense? It's really driving me insane when I can't see my HP at all (between the flashes), and I wonder how close to dieing I really am. Fix plx.

/agree
It induces panic for no reason the majority of the time.
It's even worse when your in critical HP and using a healing pot at the same time lol... epileptic disco anyone? ^_^
I dont get all this fuss about the HP bar. It's there, it's blinking and telling how much HP you have. Not that it is extremely BIG or anything or centered in the middle of your screen...
Then again, being constantly at low HP is something I'm used to.
Hah, yeah, you'd think :)
The main issue for me, (aside from the insane flashing, which is pretty annoying in itself) is that the remaining HP on the bar is gone for too long. So it can be hard to tell how close to dieing you really are (who has time to look at the actual numbers in a stressful situation). It would be nice if the HP bar didn't go away completely. If they just made it flash between the normal red and a slightly different colour red, it would satisfy me. If they insist on keeping it in this style. Which I'm sure they do.

I agree. As I recall, the HP bar flashed before, but in a much more agreeable manner. Now the nature of the flashing is such that's it's hard to tell how much HP you have left. And the intense flashing is VERY distracting and annoying.
okies im pretty much easy with the new updates apart from a few things:
Biggest one for me is the MSN window as i use this (for ingame messenging) alot to chat to ppl in game as there are only so many PM convos one man (yea i know the ladies can multitask :p) cankeep track of at any one time and the new colours/inteface means it can be flashin for ages before you (well I) actually notice it.
apart from that I hate the pick up lag thing, and the ready ready ready thing at the mrt is just wierd!
OH and now everytime i close L2 it never remembers where i put my bars and it would be great if it didnt deafult to shortcut bars 3,2,1 everytime you relog - would be quite nice if it remembered what they were on when you logged out. Or maybe its NCS way of making me have a cuppa tea and a crumpet while a put everythig back where i want it each time i log in

Personally, I hover from 600-1.2k HP while melee fighting, and with 3.5-4.5k HP that means the bar is flashing ALL THE TIME. Totally pointless (and more to the point distracting and annoying) for me.

****ed fine point!
That's what the Adventuters' Guides are for ^_^
Adventurers' Guides (not 'Guild') are located in the later towns, and these provide you with the newbie buffs, just a shame that nothing informs you of that lol.
Next time you're in Dion give it a try:
/target Adventurers' Guide
~ he is located at the bottom of the hill, near the little clan hall that's behind the weapon store.
Something else I dont like... the names in the friendslist are hardly flashing at all anymore. It's really easy to miss when a friend is sending you a message :p
