Eager Santa Trainees are stationed in every town across Aden and Elmore to spread the Yuletide cheer with gifts and blessings! Happy holidays!
During this holiday event, monsters will drop an assortment of special holiday items, including ten unique Echo Crystals that play holiday carols, and a variety of Christmas Tree pieces.
Christmas Trees
The Santa Trainees can fashion bright and festive Christmas Trees with the right materials. The monsters roaming Aden and Elmore are rumored to have just what they need, including fir tree branches and ornaments. Gather these pieces from the monsters, and give them to one of the Santa Trainees to create your very own small Christmas Tree!
To make a small Christmas Tree, you will need the following materials:
<ul type="square"> 4 Bead Ornaments
4 Star Ornaments
10 Fir Tree Branches
1 Flower Pot
If you give a Santa Trainee 10 small Christmas Trees, he can work his magic to turn them into a spectacular Special Christmas Tree! Those who rest under the branches of a Special Christmas Tree will gain increased health and magic regeneration. Special Christmas Trees can be summoned anywhere, but you will not receive the tree's magical benefits if it is summoned within a peace zone.
Santas Hats
The Santa Trainees are members of a small guild in the Dwarven Village led by a mysterious, yet jolly, Dwarf known only as Santa Claus. The apprentices procured a small collection from the guild's special stock of Santa's Hats, and are giving them out in the villages. They won't give out these special hats to just anyone though; you'll have to prove you've got the holiday spirit! Collect 10 small Christmas Trees and any of the Santa Trainees will exchange them for a bright red Santas Hat! This hat can be worn until January 29, 2008. Also, players who had a Santa's Hat from last year's winter holiday event received a special head accessory, Santa's Antlers, in their Warehouse.
Holiday Blessings
The Santa Trainees in each of the starting villages also give out holiday blessings. These buffs will help you in your hunt for both monsters and presents!
Event Schedule
The event begins on December 24, 2007 at 10:00 AM Central Time (10:00 AM GMT+1 on Teon and Franz), and ends on December 31, 2007 at 10:00 AM Central Time (10:00 AM GMT+1 on Teon and Franz). The Event Managers will remain in the villages until January 8, 2008 at 10:00 AM Central Time (10:00 AM GMT+1 on Teon and Franz).
The Lineage II team wishes all of our players a very safe and happy holiday season!
Everyone [censored] about the event can give their holiday echo crystals to me, KTHX.
Which was it, 9 or 10? The banjo version of Auld Lang Syne, it's fantastic. Or maybe that was the rag time Deck the Halls. Seems like it's always "rag time" around these forums. :p
It's not an original event (http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y147/strafe/l2/661197626281.jpg), but the special trees are useful, I'll take free buffs if they're decent.
How about we throw in some presents that last longer then a week, some enchant scrols,e vent scrolls, etc etc. Lets make this event worth while, as it stands now, it seems about as fun as the kamael starter event...
We discussed that in clan chat and we came up with the following:
Santa RB...
Minions being all the reindeers (rudolph too, with a glowing nose).
Santa would drop "Santa's Sack" (heh!), that when equiped as a weapon would instantly remove all CP from a red. When used on a white, it would randomly drop a item from your inventory at a 20% chance.
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DO NOT MAKE A POLL AFTER THIS EVENT!!!!
(i didn't want to hit caps and i'm tired from holding shift so just pretnend the latst bit is in caps lock too.)
Every time you have this event 90% of people want the option to participate or not like a quest or some way where there inventory is not full with worthless -_- and yet one more time the wise man at NCsoft said, "-_- the player! We just don't care about feed back and want to waste our time makeing a vent that everybody -_- hates instead of working on server transfers that we promised 4 years ago and repromised 3 years ago and re-repromised 2 years and re-re-repromised 1 year ago and set a time for last week!"
Honestly I wonder what is gonig on inside the brains of NCNA staff.

A little imagination from the design team for this "new" event would have been nice...
I like this event but with it running from 24th to 31st means I'll be in shop mode almost the whole time. Merry CHRISTMAS everybody and a big wedgie for all those who prefer to say happy holidays.
Everyone wants an event. They give us one, people complain.
Blah blah blah.
You are suprised that people are complaining about getting this event 3 times after 99% of the people said that they did not like it in the post event feed back?
I mean honestly... y even have the post event poll if you aren't going to consider it.
Everyone wants an event. They give us one, people complain.
Blah blah blah.
Actually, I'm not complaining about the event (won't be online to participate most of the time anyway), just commenting on the total amount of creativity needed to design it.
I actually like the event - collecting the trees etc is kinda cool - but even though I like it, its not hard to recognise it as a "cookie-cutter" event. Would be nifty if there were special prizes for making special xmas trees for example.

TBH I doubt they even have an event team anymore. When do we ever get an original event? Remember 2ish years ago when NCNA cut 70 jobs or so? They're running on bare bones over there. Not to mention that they can't do anything unless NCK gives it to them. NCNA is basically useless and maybe has 1 vertebrae.
- after 2 days i could equip and got new santa hat in WH they give us some info, gg
- same event again, nothing really new in it, gg
- same event again, after people reactions on last one weee we do that again coz it was sooo great, gg
- same fantastic rewards as last time, gg
- many new items in CT1 that i have no space already in mine WH or inventory (some of tham you can only delete) and now we got some more items that none already has the place to put tham in, thats soooo great!
PS: i like events and fun and stuff but not if it makes normal playing even harder... is it really so hard to lisen to L2 comunity and change the event so that it would make people happy or invent a new event? i wonder what event will korea get, any info?
Doesn't matter. Remember the Korean Piggie event, we got it what, a year after they had it? Hmm, surely the translation part of it didn't take 1 year ....

no i just wondering if they get same event over and over again after they complain???

Cool Thank you I like this even I still have Christmas Trees from last year that I just drop in the middle of some place thou out the year. And I collect the Music :D

Once again in your fanboi-ness you're missing the point. They reuse events over, and over, and over. Pumpkins, squash, trees, trees, trees, letter event, oh another letter event!
Yeah, WE LIKE THE UNIQUE events (that aren't ******ed like the hair pots). You don't need to point that out.
I think the point was that trick or transmutation was actually a first time event for us.
But yeah, of course they're reusing korean events, thats all they can do, they can't make their own, even if they wanted to.
Honestly I don't mind them reusing the pumpkin event, the piggy event and others, they're still good fun....the christmas event however is rather tame though and to make it worse, it starts way too late...we have a stratics wide feature on christmas in mmorpgs and guess what, L2 didn't make it because ours hadn't started. :/ Not that we would have much to show anyway compared to WoW. :/
You guys want to know why they are holding the event again? Go look up the results of the poll from last year. Here, I'll sum it up for you so you don't have to:
What did you think about the duration of the event?
- 48% said "Just Right"
If you didn't participate in the event, what was your reason?
- 81% said "I participated"
What did you think of the background story/lore of the event?
- 44% said "Not interested/didn't read it"
What did you think about the rewards for this event?
- 51% said "Not worth the effort and time"
What did you think about the event item drop rate during the event?
- 67% said "Drop rate was balanced"
Would you participate in an event like this again?
- 57% said either "Definitely" or "Probably"
If NCSoft had paid attention to this poll, they would have run the event again (since the majority said they would participate again), but would have had better rewards. Overall, it seems they had a pretty good response to the event, based solely on the poll.
Thank you Chaos at least some one got my point he said "they don't do new events" yet I just pointed out one and yet it still got flamed....... Dam if you do & Dam if you Don't.
It's also funny how the same people calling me a Troll has 10X more Post then I do ;)
I like buying christmas trees in town 10k each, getting over 5000 then going to giran one day, and spamming a good 500, laggs it really good, even better before a siege :>
If NCSoft had paid attention to this poll, they would have run the event again (since the majority said they would participate again), but would have had better rewards. Overall, it seems they had a pretty good response to the event, based solely on the poll.
Maybe its just me...
But when you have a event that you have absolutely no option to NOT participate in, what would your choice be?
Also, look at the 51% that said NOT WORTH EFFORT OR TIME.
Whatever I guess ;) It just keeps getting funnier how a few select people keep defending NCSoft NA's inept management.
By definition, a "troll" doesn't equal "has a lot of posts". (Splatter has over 11,000 for example)
A troll is someone that posts just to cause trouble. Just thought I'd clear that up.
And yeah those surveys are totally flawed since you can't opt out of the event. The trees themselves aren't bad, it's just the same thing like 3x running.

Maybe I AM playing devil's advocate here a little. Personally, I hate the event and wish they wouldn't run it again. But from their point of view, if all they have to go off of is the poll, they're going to run it again. Maybe they don't read the poll comments. Who knows?
I would expect no less than for NCSoft to re-run this event. To those blaming NCNA of dropping the ball or seething about the recycling of events, did you really expect anything different? I mean is it really any surprise that we get the tree event again? I would have been really surprised if they hadn't.
Don't get me wrong, I understand where you all are coming from, but let's get real here. NCNA has always recycled these seasonal events. The less high end prized events are much easier for them to spit out and recycle.
IDK maybe i'm wrong to set low expectations of NCNA, but I have no evidence that raising them will do anything beneficial.
From what I can tell, it's similarly structured. But instead of a Santa hat, they get a Rudolph Agathion. I posted it earlier in the thread.
So that's next year for us, probably.
Trust me my expectations of them can't get any lower. Which is the point really. I've seen this game go from something great to something that is utterly painful to watch. I learned a long time ago not to get excited about anything from them because they just keep on letting the community down.
as far as the event goes, yeah i was expecting it. everyone and their brother was expecting it.....
is it fun? it was last year i suppose, the santa hat looks cool, and helped me send a "Merry Christmas, From L2" to my friends :p
the thing is, they didnt make it solely for us to have fun (one extreme) or to have great rewards (the other extreme) and when events are "Luke-Warm" like this one, no one really likes it. (im sure someone else could say it better than that though)
I want an event that gives some bonus XP and SP like some "other" games, and I also would like to see the one where the event mobs dropped oodles of materials like vop and varnish and also good key mats in bunches :p
the amount of mp regen the special trees give is bogus or broken anyway
I wanna see an event where a gm pops in, named =GM=Santa and does some cool stuff, porting people to the arena for a pvp event (Holiday Throwdown), a holiday themed trivia contest or maybe just playing a fun game of find the santa claus. Rewards can be whatever you think would be justified. Interaction with the playerbase in a way such as this would be a step in the right direction. Hell, just to see a GM ingame like we used to would be an event in itself, lol.
I have fun with the trees, I blockade doorways to the warehouse and make little mazes or trails for people to follow, use them as a backdrop for some fun screenshots, theres always something good about the events, its just that I yearn for that little somthing extra...something that makes me feel like the devs/gm's/hgm's/community managers actually give 2 flying [censored] about what we are doing ingame. Support out of game is lacking..support INGAME is nonexistent. (by support I mean more than just answering questions, helping with bugs, etc, etc)
I guess I just want to have L2 be cared about and interacted with again by someone that has a passion for the game. You can't tell me that NCNA is unable to get a character into the game on our live servers and take 1 or 2 [censored] hours to come and have fun with us, spawn a few hundred trees in some town, say ** ** ** in announcements, ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN NOTHING.
Seriously, even if they did somehow yanked those hours out of their schedule and did it, most people would complain anyway because it would be at the wrong hours, in the wrong places or lag would be too much, etc.
I think its good that players that joined since last year (or didn't participate last year) are able to get the santa hats again and as a bonus reward we got the antlers as well. How can it be a complete re-run when there's a new component for old players?
People should take it for what it is, instead of expecting something huge....could be worse, we could be UO where they got a complete copy of the same useless holiday gifts for 3 years in a row. Sure, WoW got a cooler event, but even theirs is mostly a rehash of last year and thats with 9 million players.

A clan leader on Gustin delivered presents(A/B/C weapon and armor scrolls, gear, BSOEs, Brezzes, jewelry, etc.) via Wyvern a few weeks ago as part of a celebration of his clan's anniversary. That was ONE dude celebrating the creation of ONE clan and it was a lot of fun.
Yeah, fun for those who got it. But you can't really complain since it was just one guy...while had it been NCSoft, people would have been complaining left and right.

Good quote. However, it's not like there's an option to actually "OPT-OUT" of a particular event. The only way to really do that is to not log in during the entire time an event is going on and that's not gonna work either.

Another enlightment and a different conclusion : in the "probably" part, players may have meant "Yes if some changes make it better".
well i think its best if people just spend the time with families rather then play this event lol utterly useless ooo buffs like i dont have enough l2 day event scrolls to get through 7 days of killing :P oh and more santa hats with let me guess the same restrictions of wearing for 1 month outta the year :p oh and trees... well... they look nice :p
Ill be skipping playing this event to go play my xbox/ps2 over the week of this craptastic event.
I don't mind re-runs of events, but I'm pretty sure after the first year of this event people were mixed on it, last year it had primarily negative feedback, so I don't understand the point of releasing it yet again. Some events work when you realease them every year, and I was pretty disappointed the pumpkin event didn't happen for Halloween or Thanksgiving this year, because that one is actually a worthwhile event.
I think this year was the worse year of events by far, and normally they should be getting better and more creative over time. Maybe wilth some luck in 2008, it will get better, cause no offense, it shouldn't be that hard to do over this past year.
Sorry, I'm not usually much of a complainer when it came to events/freebies in the game, but this event being the third year with negative support, and lack of previous good events, etc. This year just dissapointed me. I usually enjoyed logging in for events, can't say I felt like logging in for most of them this year.
Seems to me they have made it thier goal to not have any events where the average player can get anything decent. Every event seems to make the RMT's richer and richer.
Total defeated to see shops in town with event items that rarely drop but they have hundereds within 48 hours. Hell how about seeing the shops in CT1 now with hundreds of wep enchants. Over 2 years and 7 characters including events I have never had more than 5 weapon enchants at one time, but see shops in town with 380 EWD and 1,223 armor enchants. Definatley shows you who the priorities go to when it comes to this game.

Ok, sorry but what are you talking about...every player can get something decent this event and RMT can get very little.
And honestly of course they will get more than us at the other kind of events, that has nothing to do with how good or bad the event is on its own.

I take it you've never met Merchant of Mammon. This new system just allows you to have all scrolls on the same person. Previously, I needed 3 dwarves(including CWH) just for my week of scroll selling. And I could sell all those scrolls in a few days if I made some batch sales to heavy OErs(there's a few of em who OE around 5-10 weapons every night). Dont go labeling people who understand game mechanics as part of the RMT just because you havent figured something out.
And really, NC just can't win. Whenever there's an event where there are possabilities to make good money, the alphabet soup mass will profit more, because they've got more resources than real players. What we can do, they can do. With the exception of raid boss events, although RB farmers can participate too (seen any lately, though?).
And in these boring events, where you just get fun (debatable, yes) items, there's not much enthusiasm either. Which is understandable. I'm not crazy about it either, but I'm gonna take it for what it is, make some trees and plant them on top of rocks or in the water or something. BTW did you know that you can use fireworks under water? Actually I'd probably be more surprised, if they'd made the effort to make them NOT usable under water :p
Anyway, every event doesn't have to be super exciting.

The point is there have been no SUPER events in the past 2 years that have stood out, the pig event took us like a year to get compared to korea and stuff so we knew it was comin and that was just a bot fest.
Ncsoft wont step outside the carebear korea minded gameplay and entertain what NA players are looking for which would combine pvp within the events, such as another battle torty for example would be a nice idea, but expand it to each class singles and then 1 from each server so on, and those people who win each server get a different colour name for a year, etc and a prize then overall winner gets special stuff etc. neway something nice like that, you know, stuff that is a no brainer that EVERQUEST was doing like 7 years ago.
I guess I'm just easy to please ^^
I do agree that we haven't really seen anything extraordinary, but I like the old pumpkin, letter and medal events, and the pig event, if they'd keep the bots more in check, but I always managed to find a good spot where you didn't have to race others (man or machine) for pigs.
