I'm in total agreement with this.

Thank you and may you be safe and come back well!
Be safe.
Yeah, be safe! ;)

Be safe but....whats that ?
Be safe, keep your butt down and your head lower...

Oh, he could tell you but then he would have to kill you.
A sincere thank you from me for your service.

I pray that you return from your duty safe and sound.

God Bless
I don't know what it is either, but be safe, regardless :]
Army. Dont get why someone wants to go there, it's not like you guys have a mandatory service like some of us...
He's heading to US Army basic training and then he'll be doing Advanced Individual Training(AIT) to become a member of a Military Police unit(MP). Depending on his unit and the mission they are tasked for, dude will probably have one of the toughest and scariest jobs our armer forces has to offer. There are a ridiculous amount of Military Occupational Specialties that don't have the kind of...uh, let's say "exposure" that MP's do.

Good luck. God bless.

Edited by DeliciosoStr as i dont want this thread to turn into a political aspect.

GL to you man however.

Oh ok thats only army lol. After reading all posts above i thought he made something incredibly dangerous for his country or for the safe of the world lol

Getting shipped to Afghanistan or Iraq isnt dangerous to you?

PS. Combat/Assault Engineers > all.
Psssts Charmille edit your quote please :p

Just make like our army ie stay at home and it wont be dangerous :)
Be safe and thanks for your service!

Rules that they won't teach you:

You are not Superman
Recoiless rifles aren't.
Suppressive fire won't.
If it's stupid & it works, it ain't stupid
Never draw fire, it irritates everyone around you.
When in doubt empty the magazine.
Never share a foxhole with someone braver then you are.
Your weapon was made by the lowest bidder.
If you can't remember, the claymore is pointed toward you.
All five-second grenade fuses are three seconds.
Try to look unimportant--they may be low on ammo.
If you are forward of your position, the artillery will be short.
The enemy diversion you are ignoring is the main attack.
The important things are always simple.
The simple things are always hard.
If you're short of everything except the enemy, you're in combat.
Incoming fire has the right of way.
No combat-ready unit was ever passed inspection.
No inspection-ready unit has ever passed combat.
Teamwork is essential. It gives them other people to shoot at.
If the enemy is in range, so are you.
Tracers work both ways.
The only thing more accurate than incoming enemy fire is incoming friendly fire.
Radios will fail as soon as you need fire support.
When both sides are convinced that they are about to lose ... they are both right.
All weather close support doesn't work in bad weather.
The bursting radius of a grenade is always one foot greater than your jumping range.
The only terrain that is truely controlled is the terrain upon which you are standing.
The law of the bayonet says the man with the bullet wins.
REMF's (Rear Echelon Mother Fraggers) are everywhere.
The best tank killer is another tank. Therefore tanks are always fighting each other ...& have no time to help the infantry.
Precision bombing is normally accurate to within +/- one mile (...or so).
Don't look conspicuous, it draws fire.
Cluster bombing from B-52s and C130s is very very accurate. The bombs always hit the ground.
Perfect plans aren't.
Friendly fire isn't.
The easy way is always mined.
The side with the fanciest uniforms loses.
Professionals are predictable--it's the amatures that are dangerous.
Armored vehicles are bullet magnets; a moving foxhole that attracts attention.
No plan survives the first few seconds of combat.
Expending material in combat is easier than filling out Graves Registration forms -- Ammo is cheap; your life isn't.
Just because you can't see the enemy; don't for a minute believe they can't see you.
Final Protective Fire doesn't.
The enemy invariably attacks on two occasions:
- When you're ready for them.
- When you're not.
A "sucking chest wound" is nature's way of telling you to slow down.
If your attack is going well, you've just walked into an ambush.
Anything you do can get you shot, including nothing.
Make it tough enough for the enemy to get in and you won't be able to get out.
When you have secured an area, don't forget to tell the enemy.
As someone that's been in the service, let me tell you thank you for going, thank you for serving.

And the list posted above is fairly accurate. Keep your head on your shoulders, suspect everything and everyone, and you'll be on a road to being fine.
Remember that hard surfaces dont mean there is no mines.
hahahaha nice boris
Yes, TC!
wow boris I hope you didn't take the time to think of all that... anyway be safe
Good luck and stay safe!
Good luck, God bless, Get home safely.

Erm, I take it your French?

Viva la France Armée :D
My hat is off to you, stay safe.
God Speed and God Bless. You will be back in no time.

SSG D
792nd Chem Co.
FEB. 5th lackland AF base for me !
Art, my hat is off to you also. And also, stay safe.
Boris, you forgot one in your list:

If you dont want to have your soldiers shipped to some random [censored] contry that never even [censored] with you, has no intentions nor means to [censored] with you, and has no relation whatsoever to the one guy that did [censored] with you, then DONT [censored] WITH THEM.

Then again you want to trow your life away for some brainwashed and hollow ideal thats nothing but a cover for some bureaucrates to make good money in the first place... go ahead. Your life, not mine.

P.S. if you "dont want this to turn into a political thread" then delete/edit all the "thanks for your service to our great country", other wise all you do is turn it into a one-sided political thread.

P.P.S. How the hell is he server your contry if Iraq never even attacked your contry and doesnt even have the means to? How the hell is dying some 2839712370 miles away from home to some random extremist in a random contry going to server your contry... other then petrol money of course.

P.P.P.S. for all the army guys that are going to come and flame me cause i "disrespect" army people know this: i dont. I have the greatest respect for people willing to put their lives on the line to defend their home, their familly, their friends and their ideals.... i just happen to have no respect whatsoever for morons trowing their life away for no good reason, as is the case here. When the US is actually attacked, ill say "tkx for your service to your contry". Till then ill say "have fun getting blasted for no **** good reason".
I fell for the bait and that's my fault. My point, if anyone cares what was here, is that it's okay to be passionate about politics in lots of places. This is not one of those places.
what hard work lol. Stuck to the intraweb? Hardly. I just happen to have been, and still are, sick as a bloody dog for the past 3 days. Food poisening, apparently didnt cook my steak enough lol. I could care less about changing the world. Spending 2 minutes forgetting i just spewed up my last 2 meals by writting a quick post in reply to a couple idiots tho, now why would i wanna pass on it lol, aint got better things to do right now xept maybe lying in the pool of [censored] i left back there. Me = 24 posts on an account i had since OB. You = 399 posts. Who needs to go out there again?

As for slamming the dude, i didnt. Hell, specially if he's going MP, go you man. Who im slamming is the dozen of idiots going "yay thanks for your great service to our country" when all his country is doing is sending their boys get killed for no **** reason.

I speak my mind, so did you. Telling me im dumb or idiotic for doing so is hypocritical. If im ******ed for posted my view so are you.

Im posting my political view by saying that the US not only doesnt deserve his service, but deserve to get their [censored] handed big time to them and Republicans inc never EVER re-elected in human history as a result. You post yours by saying its a good thing he goes and serves this "great" country" of yours. Saying you dont want this to turn political is hypocritical, you just dont want this to turn against your own political point of view.

As for being his "boss" no im not, as i am not american and im **** happy its the case... id be bloody ashamed to be at the moment.

In conclusion you have your PoV, i have mine, you write your post, i write mine, and we are different ONLY in this our PoVs dont concur. As for that poor bloke... well good luck to you man, i didnt know and i probably never will, doesnt mean i wish you ill. Just pointing out the waste it is to put your life on the line for such a ******ed war. I have friends, close and personal friends i grew up with and trained with (yes, ive been 5 years military, im not talking outta my freaking hat, but its been almost 10 years im out now) that re-enroled. I told them exactly the same thing. Your life your choice... but think it through.
First, no where does he say he's going to Iraq.

Second, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."

Third, you must be a blast at parties.
Take it to PMs guys. We don't need to hear pros and cons of the current state of affairs.

Third, you must be a blast at parties.

Dunno, im usually blast at parties :P

Well... i was >< Been a while i havnt been at an actualy party that didnt involve neices and nefiews lol
get out of Iraq already. and americans, wake up and smell the coffee (tho most of you have by now I hope)

As for slamming the dude, i didnt. Hell, specially if he's going MP, go you man. Who im slamming is the dozen of idiots going "yay thanks for your great service to our country" when all his country is doing is sending their boys get killed for no **** reason.

Some people fight for what they believe while others blow themselves up for it. Either way they are dying.

In conclusion you have your PoV, i have mine, you write your post, i write mine, and we are different ONLY in this our PoVs dont concur.

See, this is exactly the problem that happens in the hot spots. No one wants to compromise. Everyone has a PoV and stick with it.

If the people of Iraq would wake up they would realize the US wants out as much as the people of Iraq want the US out. If they would stop blowing things up the US would have been out 2 years ago. But sectarian violence is a funny thing because each side has a PoV and neither side is going to back down.

Point Of Views generate Ideas which is Good.
in my country army is not optional you have to be there when you are 18. i wish you to have fun (you will have fun) and Good Luck and remember that only life matters.
i will give you the advise my father gave me. " in army, you know nothing" "if they ask you to walk ask them how."
kanenas has a good advice, lol. Anyways Wringlin' i did remember your name quite well, not as a person but i remember when you came to me as a young dorf and asked questions about golems and stuff and then outleveled my dorf as i was rerolling ^^ no matter what part of the army you're going to you have my respect. Good luck to you and remember.. you're not there to die for your country, you're there to make sure the other poor bastard dies for his
Thank you to every one who posted :)

i love the support and, though it may seem wierd, the support of my country men is the only thing i have with me as i go to basic, ait, and where ever my leaders see fit to send me afterward.

though i feel that the words arent enough, Thank you all !!

Ps: i will keep my head down :)
Basic and AIT...I remember when Aldrik went. It was the longest 5 months ever....Until he got sent to Iraq.

Anyway, You'll do fine. You'll come home in a few months all fit and trim and your mom will start cooking to 'feed you up' *What??? Don't those army men feed you up there??*

If you do get shipped out, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mela and Aldrik
HOOAH!

guess who's home :)

yea...thats rite....THIS GUY
heeeey welcome back :)

how was basics & whatnot?
Welcome back :). Glad to see ya safe.
welcome back
Seeing as it was June, I saw this title and thought maybe it was about something else. ;)

But welcome back.
lol

basic and AIT were def. a blast once ya got used to it.

though i must admit i am disapointed to find out my unit isnt slated for deployment until 2012..but eh..gives me some time to get some rank ^^

*no flaming the deployment thing PLZ, opnions on war and such should stay where they actualy mean something...in ur own mind.*
but the world is gonna END in 2012!!! >.<

*no flaming the deployment thing PLZ, opinions on war and such should stay where they actually mean something...in your own mind.*

word to that, being a Iraqi vet I know what you mean.

*off topic I'm sure*
I just went and saw "you don't mess with the zohan," that movie is a trip! very funny movie, but it has alot of crude humor.

anyhow, I think its nice to see someone joining the ranks, and going off to help their fellow country men, even if alot of your own country men/women don't agree with the war. It takes more courage to do what you're doing!
iraq is fail.

but the world is gonna END in 2012!!! >.<

true. might as well do something worth doing, while we wait :)
*starts leveling an OL*
Iam not even American, and still I'll thank you for your service. (Canadian here)

Good luck and be safe.
For all the Military types out there: http://skippyslist.com/list/
funny part is, I know this guy....and have seen him do a few of these.
To the OP...welcome to the ranks. MP for life (former 302MP co.)
Welcome back--and thank you for standing in the breech, from the bottom of my heart.
Welcome home. And thank you for serving.
