There are several ways you can go. But if you're going to solo your way through C grade, the easiest and most common way to go would be heavy armor - it helps you take the beating. For weapon, I recommend duals preferably for faster leveling, although a 2h sword would also work. Stick to fields with herbs, try to pull only 1 or 2 mobs at time, and always keep some mana in reserve for the drains and sleeps.
If you look in player guides, you'll find some more general WC guides. You can also look in the section on Orc mages. It's useful to know what people recommend for higher levels, becuase you will want to switch over to other types of gear as you progress through B grade and A grade. It's useful to know what you'll want to plan ahead for.
I know you say that you are solo, but does that mean you are truly solo or have an OOP buffer?
I wouldn't touch the dyes yet, and I am truly soloing in full plate with a +10 SLS w/focus and shield. BSpS for a drain once in awhile. Just get the highest p.atk wep with focus you can get your hands on and start grinding.
