1: Was too long. This is a crap event that shouldn't have been repeted.
2: I partaken; cause I was forced to, if I wanted to XP to further progress my chr I had to waste my time and inventory getting the items. No option to opt out of the event!
3: Same event as last year why read the story, doesn't matter, just read what was needed to get the idea of what items, and how many I needed for the hat/etc..
4: The reward was crap. Waste of time collecting tree stuff. I wish next year we'd get a new event!
5: Santa antlers. what a joke, we find out people will get one the same day the antlers come to people. No forwarded notice about it, or about the event. And a unfair reward for peopel that had a hat from last year, and people who moved servers, etc was [censored]ed out cause no way we could have had a hat.
6: I think the drop rate was too high. Like wise the amond of event mats needed was too many for a unrewarding event item.
7: No. hell no, god no! Plz stop recycling events that people stressed last year they didn't want. Give us rewarding rewards thats useful, and stop Filling up our inventories with lost of event junk stoping us from doing quest turn ins. (and yes I have ++ inventory space)
This event would be fine if there was only one drop. Please make it so that next time they drop "Gift Boxes" that you can open later (like reagent pouches). <- idea copied from someone else and I am too lazy to look it up to find out who.
Please I beg you NC, allow us to join the event by talking to an NPC, not force us to use up 5 inventory slots for it even if we don't want to participate. With all the new types of pots etc, its very difficult already to manage inventory space with the 80% limit on quests.
The next thing is reward... Please make the special trees much more powerful buff - so they actually become worth using and having. Alternatively, allow the xmas buffs to all last 20-60 mins instead of 4mins in the case of holiday empower. Lastly, it would be a great idea if you could trade in 10 trees for a random present, which could be done in a similar way to the LineageII/Throne event trade-in - with nice prezzies like that.

It's an extra extra weak regen that lasts for about 10-30 minutes somewhere in there

HOW CAN YOU NOT PARTICIPATE IN AN EVENT THAT DROPS THE ITEMS FROM EVERY MOB! I think that deleteing items out of my inventory every time i want to go to priest of dawn/quest is participateing. And the participation was awful and against my wishes.
What did you think of the background story/lore of the event?
I loved the story. I think the story went something like. In 2006 we said the event was terrible and never want to see it again and in 2007 NCsoft said HAHAHAH SUCKERS! IN YOUR FACE! and the entire community cried. I find stories where the bad guy wins to be fun!

My mouse button is sticky from deleteing the items... That is a frustrating reward and I'm sending the bill to NCsoft.

If you read the earlier parts of my post, I didn't like it. If it was the medal event that dropped that frequently it would have been jolly good.

OBVIOUSLY I WOULD! I would still log into the game and xp therefore being forced to participate. If the event was a quest, LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AND I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT NCSOFT STILL HASN'T MADE EVENTS INTO QUESTS, I would not participate.
The questions for this poll were poorly writen and all answers are meaningless. It's been fun.
All I wanted for christmas was to be able to wear the Santa hat.
But then i got an event which people were FORCED to participate in (because the event items drop from all mobs, and if you do not use 3rd party programs to lvl up your character, not picking up the event drops is not feasible), and that event used up a HUGE part of my inventory for 10 music crystals+tree parts, so that every time I wanted to change class or talk to a quest npc I had to micromanage my inventory first >.<

christmas trees/music crystals: please stop it >.<
For the future, please, please, make events drop only ONE type of item which you then can right-click like reagent pouches when you're back in town and finished with xping. Constantly having a full inventory just sucks.
How about some christmas mobs all over the world which drop materials like piles of animal bones, or recipes/keymats? That would finally be something useful.
LOL kill santa(very rare) and you get 100mil xp 100k sp and and a santa out fit(armor) santa hat (accesory) and a santa bag(2handed blunt weapon 1attk 1 mattk, 20% to fling a random present on the ground when you do a critical) O.o
Kill riendeer(rare) and you get 1mil xp and 10k sp and a reindeer collar(summons reindeer mount)
Kill green elves(common) and get ?xp ?sp(depending on area) and get a random present that contains songs, christmas trees, elf hat, or mats
There I think that's better than having 14 different items dropping on the ground with a total of 18 items filling 24%-(or 18.5%-) of inventory
and you get (good) buffs if you turn in unopened presents to santa trainees in town
We're getting this event next year, it's likely that we'll see it every year with one small variation. (this year: antler hats, next year: rudolph pets)

It's 15 inventory slots (sound crystals, though you can just use them at once, and the mats and trees). That's the main reason I always carry a portable self-propelled extra backpack (otherwise known as "hatchling") with me - even on a Dwarf. :)

I liked it, in the sense that I got something out of nothing, i.e. a couple of hats and a dozen special trees.
The hats I have put on different characters, so in case next year they give us antlers, I will have lots of them :)
I also put my two current antlers on different characters, in case NC decides to give something else next year.
The special tree is nice, we used it while hunting 7x mobs. It offers a 10-second regen buff, cast continuously as long as you are near it.
As for the inventory problem, I agree it would be nice to only have one item but since things in this game rarely work well towards usability (shortcuts anyone?), we used an auto follow repository for all the group materials, hence no problem ever.

We never get events that give the players things we ask for. Hell I even agree with your idea a few post down with the Santa reindeer, it's a good idea.
Right now the only good event we have is the event gatekeepers that lets us port to other locs not normally on the GK options list, and for a cheeper price. However you can't port to bridges in DVC which I think is lame.
I haven't seen a raid boss event in a while, those are all ways fun!
I like the events that spam mass mobs that drop alot of stuff, like L2day scrolls, greatter compressed SS/bsps, SS in mass, All ways needed consumables.
What NCsoft needs to give us is: a Pinata type raid boss event so when you kill the boss it pops like a pinata dropping a butt load of stuff. :D
Other than the usual, my additional gripe with this event was when we were allowed to wear the Santa hats. Why should Santa hats be wearable so close to the end of December and well into January? Aren't most of the "holiday celebrations" only in December? (Most, not all)
The rewards aren't that bad, if you do alot of really long raids like Antharas/Valakas it's good to have those trees handy. We usually save them for stuff like that.
...Also there's like way too many item drops, but at least they don't weigh anything...It would be worse, remember that one event where all the potions dropped and they all weighed like 120 so by the time you were finished hunting you were incredibly overweight?? But yeah....fewer inventory slots and less weight is better imo (like the philosopher key event)

You know that this effect also works on mobs which are in range of the tree? Well, it's no biggy when you fight normal mobs, they die fast enough, but it could be quite annoying when fighting a raid boss i guess.
I liked the event. The trees are beautiful, the Special Trees are quite useful at the right circumstances: They can help a party exp somewhere that they otherwise couldn't.
No one forced the complainers to pick up the various event drops, so those whines about 'it takes up my inventory' are totally baseless. Leave them on the ground for me! Toss them on the ground for me! That means more special trees I get, and maybe I will sell you one in August for a mil.
his event needs serious work. As the majority of people said last year, the amount of space that useless junk required for this even takes up in your inventory is just god awful. I certainly hope someone thinks of a new event or brings back good events.
The event was "meh".
I'm a bit bummed that they took down the event managers before maintenance (I know they said they'd be taken down before, but I assumed that they'd be up till they took the servers down. My own fault, but I don't see the point in taking them down before). I've kept asking my lame boyfriend to give me his event items the last couple of days, but he had more important things (WoW..) to attend to -.- So now I've got a bunch of literally useless event items, that will likely be deleted with the launch of Kameal+.

Personally I hated the event, was to long for it's own good, no useful rewards, and all the event items dropping made it torture. Trash this event and never do it again. You'll be doing us a huge favor.
Didn't like the event, it could've been absent and noone would've noticed. The hats are cute.. in a way (on some dwarfettes\, maybe), but I personally dislike how they look on most chars, I've put one on "ugh" then took it off.
Try again, last year it was bad, now the same, last year i didn't even bother playing during the holiday seasons, didn't want the hat, now I wanted to exp.. so.. no choice.
Well here is some tips that can make it better as i really dont think it was fun at all.
First the buffs that santas helper gives out is a great idea, but atleast make them an hour so that you can get out of town before they go away.
And it is way to many items that droped, I to was happy when the mobs stoped droping the items so I could clean out my inv for once and for all. Make it so that all the drops are christmas presents and when you double click them they will transformed in to one of the items. Atleast then it will only take up 1 inventory space when hunting.
You could also make a fun future were you could spawn next to the santas helper and get 25% back from death. ( fun for people with no clan hall or resser. )
You can say alot more.. but as you can see, this event can be alot more fun and not jsut a hassle with alitle work.
Yeah, I really need to slow down my levelling by at least 50% by picking and choosing what drops I grab instead of holding down pick up. That makes sense.

The Sound Crys did weigh 5.. that's why you didnt see bots (oops) picking them up, like arrows.
If you play a non Dwarf or Orc, and you ended up picking up like 10 of each of them your going to be overweight.
If Korea has this planned for next year, WE will get it next year. NC NA has never based its events on feedback, only on what Korea says we can have. I kinda feel sorry for our devs at times like this, then i remember the bugs that haven't been fixed in 4 years and i lose the pity.
Personally I didnt mind the event. Yes picking up all those sound crystals did get old quick, but then I found out some people dont like hearing them. I was playing Xmas toons all **** day then.
I like the idea of a rez by the Santa Helper. Maybe it could go along the lines of turn in so many trees before hand to earn the rez for the day. Make it an option.
The special trees are great to save for doing rb's. Put one up and have the healers stand by it. Use them for small pole parties. So please keep the trees coming because they are worth it all year long. :D

True NCsoft Korea seems to always make final calls.
However somewhere along the line CM's made the statement that things get forwarded to some-one in Korea.
If this is true or not can be seen as debatable (I grant you that) but until some CM makes the announcement that it is not true folks like me will complain/suggest/debate/write etc etc various things concerning this game including "events".
I was thrilled with the prospect of the special buffer tree. So after I got my 10 small trees I quickly exchanged them for a super-special tree and went out to try it. Wow! It looked great in frozen lab, it blended well with the snowy surroundings. I was in love with my mighty blinking happy tree-friend till... "pop", he... or "it" dissapeared.
"Ahh, I will just have to double click on it for a second time...", thought I.
But... "what the... where did it go?! It's not in my inventory list anymore!!!"

I agree with the majority on this one, too much junk that took up slots in your inventory. And when you, like me, spam-click the pickup button to grab anything that drops after killing a mob, you'll always get the event stuff as well.
I'd have much prefered if there had been random mobs spawning all around of all sorts of levels that dropped some random x-mas item. Like a hat, or a wand or something else, instead of this garbage. Never again PLEASE.

To KnightOfDarkness: well... both. Though to be fair to NCsoft, their tree "passed away" peacefully and without the splatter and gore one would normally associate with a happy tree friend.
It was just an old event with new name ( like most events are ). However i wont complain sold my 2nd santas antlers for 20 mil to a hat addicted player on the first day we got em.
Beside that i got me 2 more santa hats and 1 special tree.
At some point i did start delete the eventdrops.
While the special trees are nice for raids the other items are mostly useless even the santa hats will soon not equipable again.
The other point was the buffs from the santa trainees where only given in newbie towns ? Would be much more usefull to get em everywhere because newbies have newbiebuffs till late 30tys and no real use for the buffs while higher lvl players dont get buffs.

We'll all have to agree that the L2day hair pot event was the worst ever for last year, but this one is second at best to that one. :)
But we should stress that NC$ofts polls only favor them to redo this event cause it remains on a positive, and not on a negative. :eek:
I voted the best way I could to try and stress a negative out look for the event....It's said that others didn't vote the exact same way I did to try and make post data equal to what we have commented about in on the forum.
However what we think doesn't matter as the facts show from their poll. :confused: :mad:

The hair event was THE dummest event I ever had the displeasure of taking part of...
the altered realities I think was my least favourite but i think that was cause it was too long. There was novelty in the hair changing potion thing, it just went on too long.

may be it was rushed.
they said in September that there would be 4 more events before the end of the year, we had 3 then they delivered the mother of all events with the reworked Xmas one.
In terms of reward and drop rate, this event was fine.
However this event was not fine in terms of how much the overly large number of items clogged up our inventories. I'm not sure how much they told you about this game, but we can only hold a maximum of 63 items in our inventory (including equipped items), and trying to stay within that stupidly low item limit when every other mob was adding 1 of 14 event items, was a pain in the [censored].
