Not because of the lovely shout. (I really do like the shout.)
Remove heroes because right now the only battlefield in lineage 2 that matters is the hero arena. 99% of all other battles outcomes are based solely on the outcome that happens in that arena.
It is not open pvp. It is what class did I draw? Oh yea I win. The system is crap. Sieges should be determined by the clans fighting them on that day and not by a closed off pvp (I am using the term loosely) session that happened between members of the same clan a month ago.
If heroes really must be kept in the ONLY thing that should happen is they get global chat and a glow.
It's like NCsoft realised how badly they -_- up the 7 signs and instead of fixing/finishing them they decided to add another thing that would force the server to participate in or get crushed in pvp.
Lineage 2 would be a great game if NCsoft would stop have -_- that people were forced to participate in in order to compete.
Also remove boss jewels.
And for the record i'm a 5 time hero with full boss jewels. And by 5 time hero i mean i've never been hero and I hate the olympiad on general principal and not because a hero has ever hurt me in pvp. They have tried, but I am amazing.
Heroes didn't ruin the game. The zerg did. In seiges and stuff, (although heroes make a nice contirbution) seems like the side that has allied 2/3 the server and fields 200+ ppl, wins. Side effect of having 200+ ppl in an ally? They ususally get most of the heroes too.
The day a Hero destroyer got the zarachi then brought it to a siege getting full buffs and CoV... Ungh the results were horrifying He didn't even get to do frenzy. He didn't meet someone who stood and fought they all ran
Honestly, there's no such thing as zerg in a game which stimulates making huge groups to attempt to take a castle or epic boss. In my eyes the game stimulates huge groups, especially since their early advertisement aimed at "zerg" as well, not some team CS like 9vs9 or whatever.
That said I do agree hero's might be giving the larger side a bit too much extra. Sure a fair game would be fun with equal forces, but once the sides are off it would be more fun the loosing side gets stimulated [by the game] to try overtake.
Compare it to current racing games where the one in the back gets a small speedboost [handicap], to ensure competition is more fun. After all everyone is about wanting to have proper competition and not about wanting to win, right?
.. just some random thoughts. Its very hard to balance a big game like this without people abusing parts.
Waiting for the "Hero's" to start calling people carebear now.
Back on topic:
I would not mind seeing the hero's get nerved bigtime. Knowing NCsoft however I should now invest in a respirator so I can hold my breath.
Or maybe restrict hero-skills from being used during seiges if they are not signed up.
(I just love it when I see a hero-zerg take down castle-defenders so the hero's alt clan can take the castle weeeeeee....)
Honestly, there's no such thing as zerg in a game which stimulates making huge groups to attempt to take a castle or epic boss.
In this sense I agree. Ultimately, if the other side has more ppl fielded, they are called zerg, and if we have more they call us zerg.
I am just pointing out that heroes, although effective, don't play as big a part as 2-3 v 1 odds when it comes to mass pvp such as siege.
Consiquentially, to restate myself, ppl who can field THAT many, abuse the system to get more of the heroes, resulting in further unbalance in the game, and resulting in the OP's rant about getting rid of heroes.
The day a Hero destroyer got the zarachi then brought it to a siege getting full buffs and CoV... Ungh the results were horrifying He didn't even get to do frenzy. He didn't meet someone who stood and fought they all ran
How do you give full buffs to someone who cant join a party?
Perhaps you should have kept your mouth shut? :) Buff scrolls and ally buffs dont come together as full buffs, not even close. As you yourself said, you're still missing BD/SwS and a bunch of other buffs that you cant get from OL or from scrolls. Durr durr.
Wow HIeverybody. Perhaps I am mistaken, but I'm pretty sure you favor high level reds pking lowbies having less restrictions placed on them in the "Open PvP" "Cry More" style you enjoy so much.
Seems odd that you now want to restrict powerful toons with an (arguably) unfair advantage over other players in stark contrast to your earlier attitude.
But I digress; you make some valid points. and the hero system does have room for improvement.
Oh and Hi Charmille. Imagine my shock at seeing you tell someone to shut up.
If CP is shot he will still be a beast if hp is shot...Omg thats the worst case senario 14k cp with frenzy doing 30k+ dmg each swing????? I would just leave the area wouldn't even bother fighting that
Put an end to the feeding and you should have alot better competition.
And how to put an end to the feeding??
Make it so that clan/ally ppl can't fight against eachother.
That should spread out the heroes evenly and make those that actually can fight heroes instead of those that has most nobles in clan/ally

Let me help you with your reconciliatory skills...
Hero is NOT determined by pvp abilities. It is determined by number of nobles and clan feeding. The fights in the arena is not pvp. 90% of the time it is 1 person takeing off their armor and dieing. The other times it is 2 people that are forced in a small area where there is no terrain to use that fight eachother. That is nothing like pvp in the rest of the game where friends are porting to close ports to run in and help. There are not rocks to hide behind to cancel spells/avoid attack while u spam CP. There is no high ground to hold. There is no team work. It is not pvp.
The fact that something that is not determined by pvp determines the outcome of pvp is rediculous and should be removed.
Without heroes everything could be determined by pvp ability a lone.
A few examples:
Boss Jewels: Boss spawn pvp.
Castles: Fortress pvp and the siege itself.
High lvls: Best xp spots are fought over between warring clans.
All three of those things are now determined by number of heroes. Number of heroes is based on numbers. There is a certain skill that goes into the olympiad in needing enforces to stop open comp feeding but mostly it is just camping the sign ups to try and get your class based fed.
Heroe comp is just -_- and it should be removed. Now. Don't wait for korea because the dev's over there are pretty naive about the realities of the NA servers. NA should just remove it here because it is broke beyond repair in NA.

As I mentioned, the Hero system is flawed. However, looks like Mister "Cry More, it's a pvp game" has to deal with players his own size now and is a weepy willy. Have a tissue.
Rage is still an active with no prerequisites aside from a somewhat unpleasant refresh timer and adds roughly 100% patk while frenzy with zariche adds only + 50% patk.
... LOL and B-A grade perma reds one-shotting D graders then forcxelogging IS pvp?
No because they are useing an exploit called forced logging. The reds that don't use exploits, but instead kill people and then try to run from those who come for them is pvp as far as I'm concerned.
Also if you really don't like it then just get the new buff that prevents it.

Are you kidding me? There is no hero that can match me. I am a god.
hell knights should only be able to fight hell knights, in a big class tournament. the winner of each class (or possibly even the only one to fight for that class) is the best, and should be the hero (heroine) for that month.
if that doesnt balance it....
keep the glowing, keep the weapons, remove the skills. the only thing a hero could do is raise the moral of his comrades (like an ally buff)

When you were champioing the pvp might of the b-a grade, 1-shotting permared patrolling lowbie areas and logging (exploit or otherwise) there was no buff/skill to prevent it.
I mean, hey I agree to an extent on the hero issues, but it's still amusing to see your attitude shift when the advantage isn't in your favor.
Really, looks like most ppl have not clue what r they talking about, but still cry.
Overpowered Hero skills... Yeat, there r some. The problem is, all Hero get the same skills. If Hero - tank get extra UD - its balanced. But when Hero - nuker get UD - its wrong. Every Hero should get class-specific skills. Extra nuke for nukers; extra summon/summon buffs for summoner etc...
Oly are supposed to be kinda show. Like it was for Ancient Romans.
When i am looking a match, i feel the suspens, the pressure , i am living it, fearing for a person i like, screaming because of someone i don't like, yelling that "it's unfair !", or jumping when the match was good and i am happy for the winner !
It's like TV ! like tennisball match (more short tho !).
What is screwing it all is feeding. because there is not fun to watch a match without any fight.
And about that, something must be done.
New oly is nice imo. Arena is more small, and npc giving buffs make matches more balanced in a way. Maybe a bit hard for archers/ nukers but well...
Oly is not at all pvp. It like telling that fishing is like pet leveling.
completly different. not same buffs, no party, no ground, no timing, no global tactic...
So, in my opinion, Heroes should not have pvp debuff like fear. The Hero ud and zerk are fine, same as valor ("moral and power to my clan !").
Because heroes are not pvp champions. but olympiads champions.
What we must think about is the fact that in Korea there is TONZ more players than in NA servers.
So i guess more nobles so more competition in oly.
If NA grows up and count more and more nobles, maybe that in the end of feeding. I am hoping about that, because i wanna see good matches.
about zariche : OL buffs don't affect Zariche owner.
yeah i say stop crying, go get nobel become the true hero that you desire to see, or simply take the path of the dark side like so many others befor you did. they say that power corrupts, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. no player in this GAME has absolute power. they bring thier own corruption into it. either enjoy the game or why are you still here? addiction is not a good enough reason.
As the system is now there is no way a regular player can become a hero if he/she isn't in a clan that cheat (feed him with points) to become hero.
That entirely depends on class TBH.
Certain classes dont *have* to be stacked to do well in the Olympiad. Will they still lose some? Sure.... but they'll do all right with just +'ed gear/skills and no boss jewels.
As the system is now there is no way a regular player can become a hero if he/she isn't in a clan that cheat (feed him with points) to become hero.
Why is working for a common goal to make a clan stronger "cheating" now?!?
Cheating is because it is not working for common goal, but staging a fake fights.
As someoen already said - make the fights impossible in the same alliance AND for one month time for those which left the clan/alliance. So if you leave a clan/alliance you must wait at least montha and 1 day to be able to fight with members of your old clan/alliance.

If staging fake fights will make my clan or ally stronger, you can be **** sure I'll do just that - and will drag everyone who can help with me to do the same. For the one common goal: To make us stronger.
Becoming a major force in L2 world takes a team effort. The olympiad is no different here.
IT IS CHEATING no matter if it is working for common goal or not. Using bots is working for common goal too but at least on words it is considered bannabale offence. So it may looking suprising but if something is good for common goal this doesn't make it "legal".
But of course you will proceed to argue just for the cause of arguing.

No it's not, it's unsporting sure, but not cheating. Throwing fights is a time honored tradition in RL, why would you expect a virtual arena to be any different?
It isnt cheating. It is a powerful ally or clan using its power to maintain control. The same way that a powerful ally can "lock down" a world boss so that only they can get the jewels etc. Its a viable use of a game mechanic. The only way to really put an end to point feeding is to get enough people particiapating in the olympiad server wide that the numbers make feeding ineffective.
Depends, are we talking about throwing fights, like in boxing, or a fixed outcome, loke in professional wrestling, where they are semi-coreagraphed before hand?
Well, one of the qualities that L2 has is that there is no judicial body to make rules... and players have to deal with the character of others and their own self when put in that kind of environment. Whenever someone finds offense at the behavior of others, they scream, "There should be a law!" I kind of chuckle at that, because there comes a point where laws take all the fun out of everything.
The Olympiad is pretty broken and it has ruined the game in certain ways... I'm not sure what the developers were striving for when they created it. It certainly is not a forum for the "best" players. I think the best suggestion so far is to take away the special skills that the heroes get until they can figure out how to fix the system. Let them keep the rep points and the other benefits.

Picture a server that is 10 times more populated then Teon or Franz or Bartz. Picture hundreds and hundreds of nobles spread across 40+ guilds.
Oly works fine then dosent it? Thats how it was designed and who it was designed for.
I'm sure if we only had say 1 server, the Oly would work beautifully, as feeding would be **** near impossible due to the sheer number of nobles.

Correct, it was designed for just massive amounts of people to participate, not just a few(in relation to how many people play on the server) I am assuming that in korea it works extremely well.

Perhaps they should combine a few servers...having more people would make a lot of things better, from Oly to raids to sieges IMO ;)
In NA/EU it's just imbalanced because it is and has always been very easy to dominate Olympiad simply by XPing faster than you enemies. Once you get Olympiad monopolized it is very hard for the enemies to recoup due to "the grass is greener" syndrome.

I was going to post that, but edited it out :)
Server transfers won't be enough, IMO. Everyone will just make more dead servers.
Forced server Merges (decrease server count by 1/3 or so) would be much better.
Well if they remove the hero skills , you think anyone will bother? I am not pretty sure about hero weapons if they are that powerfull , but major alliance already walk around on +7 S weapons so that would make litlle or no difference with hero weapon. Thus , leading to another dead aspect of L2 (like 7s) .
What I liked most on this thread was class based hero skills , but I am sure NC will still do [censored] even if they implement it.

Don't remove Olympiads. It's one of my long-term goals. Nerf it if you want but I want to try one day.
The best would be to find a solution to forbid feeding. Maybe the best solution is to compete. Go Teon go! :)
(PS: Korea have had some server closing, haven't they?)
Just weaken Dread and Grandeur in my opinion, either shorter durations or lower land rate. I don't mind heroes being hard to kill, or hitting hard, but these two skills just make PvP boring (as do cancel poles to a lesser extent).

Why is working for a common goal to make a clan stronger "cheating" now?!?

As someoen already said - make the fights impossible in the same alliance AND for one month time for those which left the clan/alliance. So if you leave a clan/alliance you must wait at least montha and 1 day to be able to fight with members of your old clan/alliance.
Please explain how its cheating? People need to stop being so ignorant on this issue...
The Olympiad/Hero isn't about the individual player, it hasn't been in a long time. They give you CLAN and ALLY skills for a reason.
I've said many times I think the Hero system isn't the way it should be, and frankly it shouldn't be called a Hero system, but to say that what clans and alliances are doing is cheating is just plain and simply ignorant, and to say they aren't working together for a cause is just borderline stupid.
People aren't happy, because they are still stuck on the notion that Hero is supposed to celebrate and honor and glorify the 'Hero' of the particular class, and the system that is in place ISN'T FOR THAT. If anything, blame NCSoft for poorly naming an aspect/weapon of the game.

It's cheating in your eyes because you can't accept the reality that it isn't. Please explain how a clan working together to make themselves stronger, and better (Rep. Points + Skills) is cheating? You can't, but instead of accepting the reality that Clan's are using the Hero System to its full effect, you rather sit here and make a post that people are cheating.
Everything in this came at end game involves a Clan/Alliance working together to achieve something greater (aka. Raids, Sieges, Fortresses, Quests, etc.) - Hero is just another one of these aspects of the game. Thats why NCSoft implemented the Hero Skills, the Clan Rep. Points, etc.
Seriously, instead of [censored] and moaning and having no basis for your arguments, accept the reality that you are wrong in this and deal with it.
What is cheating? Is cheating simply doing something inspite of a rule against it? Or is cheating doing something in a way which removes fair competition regardless of whether or not it is prohibited?
(By fair I mean two runners are obviously going to have different physiques and one may just happen to run twice as fast by nature. A race between them would still be fair even though one runner who is only half as fast has no chance of winning. Unfair would be when two otherwise equal runners are made unequal by one runner injecting unnatural steroids in otherwords gaining something above that which is natural and worked for talent)
Even if point feeding isn't cheating by some definition, it most certainly creates unfair competition. Since the ones who point feed are likely already the ones in the biggest alliances with the best equipment and highest levels, this system gives even more advantages to those who least it.
My mistake about Rage, sry :) When I wrote post, I replayed to "+100% p atk from Rage". Even if using Rage would be possible, it add +55% p atk to Zariche owner.
I think Hero competetion should be what the name implies, a competetion. Feeding point hording isnt competeting, its who has the sheer time to spend camping and living for olympiad.
All that would need to be changed, is to change Olympiad to an event that happens for a few hours like once or twice a week. this whole 4pm-10pm everyday is what breaks the system. Farming points, camping olympiad would end, and you would have a true competetion with people prepared to go in and fight for their status.
and ya, i think in mass pvp, Valor is amazingly imbalanced, especially if you have 1 side with 20 valors and 1 side with 1. Ya and fear too. lol.
PS. lol @ whoever is crying about cheating. Its not cheating , the system is broken. are you like bringing us back to the 3rd grade here? lol.
For me the problem isnt hero skills. Is that if u arent on a major clan,u dont have a change to become a hero.To change that,i can suggest,no more no class oly.First 5 days of each month all nobless that want to participate can register for oly. After that, depending on how many nobless is at each class,u have a 3 specific days of competition, and again depending on the numper of nobless how many match u need to do us minimum.
If in one class one 1 nobless,he will be hero w/o fights,i believe that is better, than just alowe him to make one win and give all the rest points to other classes.
Rage 2:
Evasion -3, P.Def. -20%
With Sword/Blunt/Polearm: P.Atk. +54.86%
With 2hs/2hb: Accuracy +4, P.Atk. +64.085%
With other weapon: P.Atk. +20%
Even if you could rage now, it can not give 100% patk let alone 55%. Zariche isnt considered to be one of the types that give 55% or 65% since C5(?), it has no class.
Correct me if I am wrong...

Well, I wrote this in the suggestion forum and some ppl started to shout "hold the thief"... But if you want to stop cheating just remove the incentive to do it... or in the case with the heroes just restrict them from participating in the sieges. Every hero who is happen to be close to a siege have to be silenced and stunned (and become invincible until this lasts or simply teleported to the nearest peace zone).
So the heroes will remain for honor and glory only.
Almost nobody would bother with heroes if it was just for honour and glory. Certainly not the top clans of the server. So a "Hero" would be then "some unimportant guy from an equally unimportant clan who better does as the top dogs say when they need a hero shout or just some extra light source somewhere, else they delevel him and his whole clan back to D-grade."
there's a difference between cheating and just fighting unfairly.
if you could fight someone 2v1 in olympiad thats cheating.
if you fight your clanmates and they intentionally lose that's just fighting unfair. it's not cheating. since there are no rules against it.

Well, maybe you should look in a dictionary. U use the word "fighting". Maybe it is suprising to use but fighting means "fighting", not losing. So the oly is made for fighting. This is the rule. It is not called "Who will get most losses". So if something is made for fightimng and you are in it, if you do not "fight" but instead you "nofight" it is against the rules of the Oly.
No where in the "rules" for the olympiad does it say you can not lose on purpose. It simply states the requirements to participate and leves the rest up to the individual. You have to be a noblese, you have a certain amount of time to buff/get ready before your fight and thats about it. Other than that if you use a fork and gouge your opponents eyes out then log out and lose...its all perfectly legal.

Yes, I had suggested this in another discussion thread. And I think it is a great idea that might even make the Oly a competition.
I'd like it to be moved to the weekends... two 12-hour days filled with competition. This way your time zone wouldn't be a factor... and your real life could actually feasibly be put on hold... not like it is now. This way feeding might be a lot harder to do as well.
They need to remove hero fear/grandeur completely, cancel effect on the pole, and ally UD. All these skills make pvp just plain stupid if you're fighting someone without them. Ally UD is too overpowered at sieges if you have a extremely large raid force (and multiple 80 OLs in clan) because you can use it every 30 min and it allows you to basically run past all the defenses once the doors are down.
Hero UD/zerk is still overpowered for many classes like tyrants/destroyers/daggers but you have to leave something to make it worthwhile to try to get hero.
As for point feeding, it doesn't matter how many people do olympiad simulatenously, you can still feed points easily because you just have 9 people ready to click OK and one person already signed up. As soon as that one person starts going, the 9 sign up. You will most likely get at least 7 people in that round. The only hard part is to get enough points to feed multiple heroes. On my server that is easy because olympiad is dominated by only a few classes so more people will just mean alot more points for them.
don't all of your skills get greyed out when you pick up the swords in ct1?
Winner.
Getting the swords is considered a transformation. You cannot use any skills of your previous class.
Transform into the dog, see if you can use a skill :P
False.
All of your passives are still active, and if you use your active buffs before equipping Zariche, they will still be active.
Truth.
A passive isnt "using a skill" is it? Since when could you "use" a passive? Thought so :p
Also, you know exactly what I meant. The poster said to rage with Zariche equiped, which you cant do.
/You fail.
You can use a totem, use ultimate evasion, dances, songs, vicious stance, etc. all before equipping zariche. When yuo equip Zariche right after, the effect of the actively toggled toggle skill remain. ANd if you are Kamael, you can use Zariche to build up a pool of souls, unequop Zariche to use a couple and rebuff, then reequip Zariche with a batch of brand new buffs, So still false. The fact that you cannot use skills which directly attack the enemy is trivial, since you can still use your active toggles and buffs to up your damage while using zariche.

You unequip it by dying ofc! How could you not think about that? Then you get ressed by the third guy there, buff up, kill the current holder and equip it again!!! Errrrrr....... =)

Yeah.
Amazing what some of these people who havent even sniffed it think they can do with it.
There was a "exploit" on Test that you could do to have the swords stats but not the sword, however, AFAIK thats been fixed and its deemed a exploit anyway. (Had to do with the way the swords have been deemed a transformation skill)
don't all of your skills get greyed out when you pick up the swords in ct1?
Don't you know that SpS are useless now and deal crappy damage? Because of this new found gimpness, Ellisandre can only XP with a Zariche and actively hunts for it. He hunts them all the time now and is the new guru on the Zariche.
