I just started and Blade Dancer seems pretty cool, But ingame everyone sayz they are the worst class to solo and that its better to be a tank. Can anyone explain cuz ingame noone does they just say "BD sucks, thats why noone wants to be one but everyone needs them" .
It really depends on your gear and tatoos if BD sucks at solo, my sub i solo'd till about 52 and it wasn't bad at all. But you ARE going to want to group on a BD. It is a decent DD class but especially towards end game it's a support class. In all honesty though, i hate playing my BD. It's fine for sieges and pvp and raids. Those are no prob. But sitting in an xp group doing the same 4 dances every 2 minutes can wear a bit thin. But that's personal preferance, some people love to play BD's and SwS.
BD can solo just fine. It is ALWAYS best to have at least a buffer with you no matter what class you are.
If you are wanting to be "the most uber dd to ever play the game of L2" then don't play a BD. Just because they aren't "the best" dd doesn't meant they can't hold their own. I can pull aggro from most any melee class (ranged is a bit more tricky).
Dancing every 2 min will be some what of a chore at the beginning. As you get higher lvl, it just becomes second nature. I often times find myself trying to dance when I am playing an alt and the dances run out.
I found a BD to be an awesome grinder solo all the way up to 60. By that stage you should be able to get parties alot, because you'll have the dances that most people desire.
I highly recommend BDs. =]
The PvE setup i used to grind when above 40 was;
+4 STR, -CON (these are tattoos that modify your base stats)
+4 duals w/ focus SA (can be pricy for someone new to the game, but perhaps a clan can help you).
BD is fun, but its a support class, you may often be stuck just doing dances and keeping the party up which may not be what you want. Personally I like the variety of skills and playstyles a bd can adapt.
I have a long standing love/hare relationship with my BD. Insane buffs when stacked with a Prophet or Warcyer, decent dps, and a ton of varied and highly usable skills. The hate? You dance every two minutes or people start freaking out and you are locked into using duals(at least when dancing) with no other weapon masteries.
Really good class but it takes a certain type of person.
I love my BD, or else I wouldn't have played it for 79 levels...like Dinin says it's a a pretty diverse class, at lower levels you kinda fit in any kind of group, nuker, melee, archer, etc.
Obviously you're going to be the most use in melee groups since you'll be a more active participant.
In pvp if you have a bow you end up doing some pretty decent damage, and when ct 1.5 goes live if you subbed an archer class up to 75+ you can get longshot1 on your bd as well.
I think on my bd, with bossjewels, I think I crit with a bow probably as much as an sr did without bossjewels...so you have some pretty decent damage output that way.
...by far the most fun I've had with my bd was being hero tho, the cancel stick was amazing...but I suppose that's probably true for any class.

Actually I frequently dance then quickly switch to bow to add additional damage. I don't have a problem dancing every 2 minutes because this is my only toon I play so its second nature for me. With proper hotbar setup and good familiarity with your skillset you can be quite versatile in any situation. The power of the BD is realized when you can switch between long/short ranged weapons seemlessly.
I love playing a BD because of two main advantages:
1st: They are very good for party play, and I play an MMO to play with people, not to solo.
2nd: They are very versatile (although many people don't see that). Not only are they important damage buffers, they also are
- good melee-DDs against high HP/density mobs or especially in raids
- acceptable bow-DDs for spread-out areas
- efficient tanks in small duo or trio groups
- surprisingly good tanks/DDs for medium AoE
- great PvP partners for DDs (like archers)
- sneaky debuffers, arresters, poisoners and drainers (with OE duals)
Oh and BDs can solo just fine in any place with herbs, at any level - it's just not the type of leveling speed people have come to expect. ;)
