I just completed my first transfer last night, and I'm working my way to become a warlock. I was reading some of the other mage threads when I came across this post from Helepol1s:
No. If you go for pure lvling without wasting SP on skills take:
lvl 1-19
Take
-Wind strike (primary attack)
-Ice bolt (secondary attack)
-Shield (handy for +pdef)
-heal (use this normally )
-battle heal (must, life saviour)
-All weapon masteries, All armor masteries, all antimagic
Skip:
-Vampiric touch (consume too much mp, not needed)
-might (useless, you are not a melee)
-cure poison (useless, antidotes drop plenty)
-curse poison (does not enough dmg)
-group heal (you are not a healer)
-wind shackle (useless, waste of sp/mp)
lvl 20-39
Take:
-Heal (continue getting this)
-Battle heal (same as heal, keep getting)
-Concentration (self buff, to avoid interupt)
-Twister (Primary Attack!)
-Auraburn (Finish off skill, low mp consume)
-Body2mind (Must! drop HP for MP)
-Corpselifedrain (To get back lost HP from body2mind)
-Shadowspark (Overhit skill, mostly Secondary attack!)
-all passive masteries for armor/weapon/antimagic/fastercasting/HP,mp,skill.recovery.
-Mana gain can be left out unless you got a high lvl SE recharging you.
-Sleep (as a life saviour, slow cast but helps often.)
Skip:
-Windshackle (as stated at lvl 1-19)
-Poison (same as above)
-Poisoncloud (useless, not needed)
-Surrender to Poison (useless, not needed)
-Flamestrike (lirein leveling is so openbeta/C1, not needed).
-ALL summon skills like said above. It's plain USELESS unless you intend to go summoner at lvl 40+.
That is all. Continue to lvl to 40, become Spellhowler and get some serious skills.
Would this still be a good idea to follow? I don't really want to waste SP on useless skills.
I agree with most of the 1-19 advise, except you don't need to learn shield until later on, since you get shield 3 from the newbie buffer anyway, so no need. And when you become a warlock and start leveling with servitors I'd learn might (the post you quoted seem to be about spellhowlers - who don't have a use for might).
As far as I can remember, wizards don't get any non-servitor heals after level 20, so I don't know what that is about. But I'd take all levels of all the heals - just learn the heals last. They come in handy at times, though I only really use battle heal on my ES, and sometimes group heal for the hell of it.
I'd also get all levels of mana gain, but you don't necessarily need it instantly when it becomes available to you. It's good to have if you need recharges from either Kat or an SE/EE.
Learn one level of windshackle, and use it for pulling.
Well, I would agree with almost what he said 100%. The deviation would be Group Heal. In a pinch, nice to have... though certainly not a priority. I've had SHs throw a group heal... just at the right time and save someone. It's not much, but enough sometimes.

DW's has a servitor heal, MP heal, and servitor buffs.

I will disagree with some of those things.
for 2 reasons. One: this is basing the skills off a Dark wizard, and not a human wizard. Two: summons are good for low lvl PvP, and raids; which happens alot at 20-40.
And as a summoner you will need to know your summons while they will continue post 35 skill set from 40+.
again you don't need to learn every skill. but I recommend that you learn what you will use. If your going to raid learn the AoE's, while you can't do the fun stuff that we did back in prelude-c2 its still useful skill on raids that have minions. while that OP posted he forgot that poisons dmg has been increased.
all the heals are extremely important to have on a warlock. even in end-game pve they increase mp efficiency quite a bit.
for instance throwing 3 or 4 group heals after a balance life will usually heal the entire party to full again without making thre cardinal use 230 mp on a major group heal.
