Hmm, I've seen SpS do pretty good in melee AoE - but that was before Aura Flash. Then again, I'm not sure mass-cancelling a target is a good idea if you're trying to keep aggro on the polers. :p
sps is more better for pvp and good with pve with oop SE right?
If what you're trying to get at is a discussion of SpS vs. SH then, yes, typically the SpS is considered better in pvp because of their fast cast speed. The SH is generally considered to be one of the best pve classes in the game, with their hard-hitting skills.
Both can do reasonably well in the other categories, with the right set up. The SpS is the hardest wizard type to level, but if you have an OE'd weapon and empower, you'll do fine.
SE is hands down best for pve, due to having body to mind, death spike, and a drain spell, as well as a higher natural int and more a greater int+wit score than sps who have too many stat points invested in men.
my SPS sucks at the moment, i loved the cast speed with karmian and homu but found i couldnt solo effectively. So i swapped for demon set, +4 SoWD w/MP and +4 int/-4 Men. Even still, i find SH outdo my damage output. Thinking of going back to Karmian but keeping the tats and weapon... personally i would have gone SH if i did it again, better skills at earlier levels. SPS have good skills at 58+ though. mass sleep for example means i can train 20+ mobs mass sleep them and let me lower lvl toon kill them one by one for huge exp. Its how i levelled my Rogue. works welll.
You need to play to your SpS strengths, not gimp them. Try Demon Set, OE'd Homu w/ acumen and +4 int, +4 wit/-8 men dyes.
Also, mass sleep isn't much use anymore. The cast speed is so slow that if you're trying to cast it on mobs already aggro'd on you, you'll probably be interrupted. I think they also changed the amount of mobs it will sleep, but I haven't played a sleeper since they nerfed sleep and introduced trance, so I dunno. If you're trying to level up other toons oop, you'd be better off making an SE or PP.
oh right, i have played SPS twice now, first time played it going cast speed and got bored. Second time played damage and got bored. rerolled PP/Ty/HE for more fun.
I leveled my SPS in C grade with Demon set, then switched to Ava in B with wizards tear. If you play an SPS as a speed nuker, then they do well, though they burn mp faster than any other class. As for sleeping cloud, it is best used on group mobs that haven't aggroed yet, such as the judge groups in VoS. As for pvp, my 70 SPS has +4 int, +4 wit, -8 men, DC robes, and SoM with acumen. I can't out damage a SH, but i have managed to kill 77 Storm Screams, if i can interupt vortex. SPS casts so much faster than SH or SS and seems to get more magic crits. If the SH con;t get silenc to land, then an SPS of about the same level tends to win the fight, simply because they outcast the SH and interupt their casting. I also have an SH, so i'm not just goin off of my experiance with SPS. SH does do better in pve, if you like to CDL, you can 1 shot alot of mobs, which SPS can't do.
No one in their right mind parties a sps period. Unless they bring at least 1 recharger
Yes, we are one of the unloved classes. :( About the only party we can get is SE/EE duo or a desperate PP. But i have never been kicked out of a PVP party. :)
There was a "before" vr? I can't remember that far back... although in OB I didn't see many SO's eithers, just saw a ton of human and dark elf fighters and mages, some orc fighters... and a few dwarves
