. . . So i was just waiting for the Blacksmith on a random alt in Apo, when a clanny comes in to grind and [Censored]!?! an Angel pops up from the ground and starts buffing him and following him around!?
The angel appears to be a Pilgrim of Light, which if i remember rightly, is like a lvl.80 mob found in MoS?
In any case, he constantly buffs him with Might lvl.3, Shield lvl.3, Zerk lvl.2, and Haste lvl.2. He doesn't attack mobs but if you attack the angel himself, he kills you.
My clanny is a Bladedancer with lvl.55 Tyrant subclass (dunno if that makes any difference); has no quests active, and it is on the Hindemith server.
We are both confused as to where he came from and why he is buffing. My clanny has stayed logged for fear of losing him.
If anyone has any idea where this thing came from, or why he is protecting him then please lemme know? O_O
People keep on trying to attack the angel in town, they fail miserably, which is quite amusing but clanny has gone into hiding now coz he doesn't want him to get killed.
That is very strange... I never seen this before either. Yesterday though I did see in Rune an angel mob that was walking around randomly until some people killed it, I can't remember what angel it was exactly, but it would have been a very long way to pull it from MoS to Rune for no reason... and also it wasn't slowly making its way back anywhere (like mobs usually do if you pull them away), it was just running around Rune. Maybe this has something to do with the Gods coming to L2 that was mentioned in the CT1 notes? :O
. . . but yeah, he just spawned as soon as he step foot in Apostate and hasn't left his side since.
He even went to the rift, several towns, MRT, and even swam around random areas. . . he refuses to leave him alone lol and no matter where he teleports or runs to, he just follows.

I have seen those angels appear many times in Giran giving out buffs (only to certain chars).
I have petitioned about it several times and all I have gotten in reply was "We are gonna look into it. Thanks for you cooperation".
I hope Alyra can dig up some more information than that and provide us with it. Nothing like this was mentioned in the patch notes (like many other changes).

There was a pair of them outside the Cemetary a couple of weeks ago following a ratman thief around like a puppy buffing him. We had clannies come out just to prove we weren't seeing things. One clannie killed the rat just to see if the angels were aggro, but they left him alone. I saw one in Dark Elven Village a few days later buffing the GK. I petitioned the ones out in the Cemetary because they were lvl 80+ mobs in a lvl 50 hunting area. The response I got back was: The mobs are spawned by the server and therefore random spawnings do happen, the GM's will not do anything to remove them. Atleast they havent been aggro to hunters. I guess the best thing to do is pretend they arent there. ;)
I was hunting Golems in Shurgard with my SH and one of these guys popped up. I watched him for a while and he just stood there. Didin't seem to be aggro, but wasn't buffing either. I smacked him once, then he layed me out. Interesting.
We had the same mob in fields of massacre near the cata entrance. We thought maybe a misplaced mob from the cata.
He only stood there flying around a little.
When we went to kill it he didnt took much damage and killed us.

It attacked mobs when I did and followed me, that was about it. I ran all over the place trying to see if someone was near by messing with me but I didn't find anyone. I can't remember if servitors had the masters name on them back then or not.
I saw one pop up at the Gatekeeper in DE Villiage when I was lvling an alt like 2 weeks ago as well. Was bascially ontop of the gatekeeper when it first spawned...thought it was kind of odd.

hm... maybe that was because it was the beginning of the chaotic chronicle? and now it happenes because it's the beginning of the chaotic throne? just a thought... if it's a bug, I wouldn't mind if it happend to me at all :p
Are you sure it's not just one of the transformations from the quest you get at Hardin's Academy?
Totally different angel, this one is a rather large male angel as opposed to the slender female tranformation counterpart.
Also it is actually a mob that resides in MoS... the name, the level, the buffs, everything about it is the same as the mob.
When u highlight to mob it instantly comes up with the "Attack" cursor, and the name is blood red (obviously not so red if you are closer to 80) and has no 'Vagabond' tag nor any other.
In addition to this the angel is completely independent and works off its own accord, and reacts like a mob would... you hit it, it fights back and won't stop til either you or it is dead.
. . . and realistically even if it was a transformation (which it isn't) i doubt anyone is sad enough to follow someone around all day buffing them. ^_^
So have you tracked back to see what you did to cause this ?
Is this some sort of Dawn buff ? (or dusk)
Mysteries like this are just what the game needs. People of all levels stumped by some mysterious spawn or bonus.
I never found an explanation to mine. I posted it ages ago and people said it was probably a summoner messing with me (and again I don't know if servitors had the summoners name on them back then) but as you can see the area was fairly open and no one was in range.
I thought it's the mysterious legendary "hero mob" that should help you when something goes wrong, as stated in C3 or so patch notges. But this does not seem to be that, if it follows you around.
Actually I like it, this game needs undocumented mysteries :) (kinda like secret portal in The World from .****//sign) I mean good mysteries, not undocumented nerfs :p

Saw a pilgrim of light and another mob like that in Giran on Franz the other day, we killed em eventually and they just dropped their normal stuff...really odd :o
They were flying around doing well nothing (looked bugged for some reason) they weren't following anyone around at the time. They definetly killed anyone that attacked them.

Servitors in prelude didn't have names of any kind on them and had absolute limitless range on both skills and with a normal atk order on a white toon, it use to af on him. I dunno what has happend to you with this shadow but I used to do that a lot : af someone while being far or leaving my Uni near noob areas, standing still for an idiot to atk lol. The good thing is that you have a proof that there were some PS in prelude and you meet with one of them !! :p
The fun part was the uni being red while I was white... or was it the opposite, me red, her white? The sad part was ppl not getting red when killing the Uni ! >.<
This God mob stuff seems to be fun... I wonder how the buffs would work on a Summoner : my first opinion would be that as always, I'll be buffed and the Uni will get jacked... but maybe, maybe this time they did it good and it will do like herb pots, buffing the Uni. :p

Yep, in prelude we only had 2 servitors and both could be obtained at level 20 : the main problem was their high Crystal cost and also the difficulty to find D cry :p

With the exception of those genuinely intrigued the rest have just spouted slander, and those that did probably didn't even read the thread properly; or maybe they just do it to get an easy +1 post count.

well there were a few C graders i think, but you have to remember the economy was completly different back then and almost no one had a buffer account so almost all leveling was done without buffs or just selfbuffs. also SS werent spammed back then as its now, the auto SS thingy werent introduced till C2 or C3 i think it was. i played for i think 4 or 5 months and i had just reached level 40 then.

Most textures for c-grade and up wasn't implemented in prelude .. so almost everybody above 40 looked the same as those below.

The original poster had a legitimate question about one of the oddest bugs I've ever seen. If we had believed some cheating had taken place, this thread would have been removed and the appropriate action taken. I still don't have an answer due to lack of specific information, but I did ask our QA department to test this one out last Friday.
