ok what i mean is this.... What do you all think would be the best character combination (in terms of complimenting each other during play) for 2 people to run together? No not dual boxing but actually 2 ppl with 1 char each. best for p vs monster and or pvp? and why.
PvE - CDL is one of the fastest and cheapest ways to exp, live healer makes the process safe.
PvP - Nukers require less support to be effective compared to archers, and generally ranged>melee in PvP.
I'd say EE and Necro or SPS . You wont have mp issues if you hunt on herbed areas and the damage dealer should just use empower scrolls. And pvp wise , well both of the nukers mentioned are the best(long debate who is no1 ) and when you get to 78 you ' ll be loving it.
...the damage dealer should just use empower scrolls...
Gotta throw a penalty flag on this one. :) :)
This is kind of bending the post, isn't it? I mean not everyone has a ton of these, and if you do, you're probably better of selling them for profit than using yourself. It's not like it's a swift attack pot, the cost of which can be easily offset with a few dead mobs. Even after all these many events, I still see folks selling EMP scrolls from anywhere from 500K to upwards of 1M adena. Ouch.
Art has stated in another thread he is spamming mostly useless posts to get enough for his custom title on the forums. Although in this case he is right, for a duo, Tyrant with a WC is pretty incredible.

sadly i must concur. ranged, this combination is crazy. melee, this is even more crazy. but for safety sake i would say Glad>tyrant for this duo. tyrants need low HP at high levels to get the good skills active. glads do not, so the WC would not be constantly OOM.

VR, no need for heals. Can use Bison and Zealot all the time. Please Spud, since you havent even sniffed Bison yet, dont comment on it.
Even a Destroyer+WC is a better duo than Glad+WC. Glad DPS is spike dmg made with skills, no mp, no skills, crap damage.
ok it depends what ur after. for dmg id go wc tyrant. but for easy play with no stress i have to say wc paly. ive played wc paly for about 3 yrs now and i cant get enuf of it. my wc is subbing paly and my paly is subbing wc just so i can do it all over again:)
Bishop+SE = undead nuking, really great exp, really expensive too.
/signed . except for the expensive part :) everything is expensive but if you just stick to crystal staff for your bishop you can save alot of adena. the se doesnt even need to nuke, just recharge and maybe a little crowd control.
although some noob bishops think the only way they can xp is by healing some pole user. not always available though. SE + Bishop + undead mobs = non stop XP. anyway it beats standing in town looking for a party.
cemetary area is great for a long time. drops are pretty nice there too if you get any.

glads pdef > tyrant pdef
glad pvp > tyrant pvp
tyrant need (NEED) low HP to use bison, and its effects are of greatest value under 30% hp - you know this jus as much as i do. if youre facing a melee (which you wont be in duo pvp) the tyrant wouldnt likely get to bison for long. WC arent *best* healers in pvp and the regen of VR probly isnt enough if you got smacked down to 30% hp.
overall i would pick the Glad over the tyrant - comparable attack speed and consistent (less expensive) damage.

now get off my forum.
So whats Bison if not a low HP skill, oh right, it's one. Why would the WC be OOM? You really think it would need to use heals, lol? Secondly, this is about PVE in the first place, so changing subject to PVP is the same as admitting defeat Spud. But lets continue on PVP subject then, shall we?
Gladiators become good in PVP only after 78, until then, they're inferior to Tyrants. Good luck getting there with the gimp PVE damage a Gladiator does(reason for why most of them are poling anyway). As to keeping Bison in PVP, that is doable in the same way as the current Frenzy is. Thats why we have CP potions. As to pdef, until S-grade, they're pretty much the same since both will be in Tallum Heavy(you can still catch even dashing HEs).
that would be the most hardcore to do unlike the other wimps (wanted to use another word, but it would not let me) and suggest a buffer class with DD/Mage class.

Hit 62 yet, Spud? Need a hand in leveling places?
right, ya know what, forget i said anything, you dont want to listen to anything i have to say anyway.
srsly, wth charmille? take your "i am high level titan and i can comment on ALL classes, but you are low level reroller of a lot of classes" bull and cram it in your swedish meatbrained toucas.
i still lol at poling glad. waste of a glad. shoulda made a warlord.
but sorry, you went glad to pvp right? good thing youre poling then! you really get to know a dual-oriented class by polearming.
lets throw the WC+Warlord out there for some aoe goodness. much more fun and exciting than being a glad-who-wishes-he-was-a-warlord.
All said by an RPer who cries "Why?" when he gets PKd for trashtalking. You do not need to kill 1000000000 mobs to know how your skills work if you have atleast half a brain functioning still. Poling is the fastest way to lvl, grats for being a total ******* who cant even understand that.

you wont be pvp'ing anyway, so my point is valid.
Destroyer is a better PVE poler than a warlord. just fyi.
Gladdys don't have the pole arm masterys that WLs get, but they do get skills that increase their pattack. Essentially, a Gladdy will do more dmg than a WL while poling, but will be less efficient, so it ends up being "some what" even in the end.

actually, AOE period. its the fastest levelling, true. poles... not so much. there are more efficient (for cost, speed, and power) methods.
i have no shame for being an RPer, nor shame in being PKd by a hero that i didnt even fight back to. i took the death, and the Brez from a clannie and my attacker fled like a baby with his karma. cause i reported his [censored] to wartags.
Wow, I'm seriuosly suprised no one has mentioned the obvious HE/PP.
HE can rip apart mobs like crazy with Prophet buffs. Proph can heal/root in pve and buff. PvP HE is a strong class and needs only prophet buffs, the prophet can root/manaburn and heal in pvp. Also at high level the prophet preps the enemy for the HE with block shield/block WW, root melee and manaburn whoever needs it.
Of course nukers are the new FOTM pvp class, but they need buffs from a ton of classes to be good in pvp... acumen, empower, resist shock, chant of protection.

The point of poling on a Glad is to get to the level where a Glad shines. Not to totally skip PvP'ing.
PvP'ing without Sonic Rage is extremely sucky. Furthermore, most of your enemies will be in S grade anyway by now.. unelss your a complete non factor. Even still, charging after every special chain is about as low DPS as it can get.
I think all Charm's trying to say is... your really dont know much about the game if your trying to say Glad's dont pole and that they should have been warlords.
That really has nothing to do with your level par say. But more your dedication to the game. There are some that are only B grade but know **** near everything there is to know about L2.
The simple fact is that there is a lot of great duos out there. And there may be opinions are which is the fastest and which is the best, there is NO fastest and NO best for everyone. Consider why L2 has what, 31 classes i believe? Theres a lot of variety. It's designed this way. You will level the fastest by picking the chars you enjoy to play. Some may compliment eachother better than others but you'll find a way.
And really the bickering is very childish. Noone cares to listen to anyone impress their judgements or opinions on others.. How bout we just talk about the validating aspects of your duo choice and provide constructive criticisms of other's choices without having to attack them.

Gladi get's polearm masteries up to lvl 36 so they aren't that bad at poling.
interesting point, ashane. lets examine it closely.
true enough, you need sonic rage to have fun pvp as a glad. but the OP asked for a nn-pvp duo as charmille pointed out.
what *I* am saying is glads tend to live longer, regen more from VR, and generally use up less support mana. tyrant would see the wc go bananas NOT doing damage and watching very carfeully for overpulls, adds, and CC'ing (for which the WC is not completely the best anyway) and generally going OOM.
glads with their superior Pdef (non pvp build means they can tank-mimic with tank armor, + shield defs +stun, or Focus sword and FS) and high surviveability without self-bleeding would be less of a drain on the CC skills of the WC.
hell, a Dwarf would be less of a drain on the WC.
and yes, the WC would be spamming life chants even WITH vr on a tyrant in heavy. i dont care what you say, cause ive done it. the tallum heavy is good for spamming blasters in pvp and living more than 3 shots, but pve it just makes you use shots faster. i switched to DC. DC or NM are by far cheaper armor and easier on the shots. you need more than 1 support class for the tyrant even in heavy. even a boxed buffer would help. one lone WC with a piddly MP pool drained by excessive buffing does NOT a support party make. maybe at 78 with COV, but not under A grade.
i am 61, and in a simple place as Field of Massacre on Doom mobs i made a LIVE SE 63, and EE 61 BOTH go out of mana. when we PR'd both of those players swore never to level with me again. both of these players have been on these toons since C1, and know their own limits, they are experts and are very good at what they do, but they wont play without my summonable prophet.
its hard to support a tyrant. i dont recommend the tyrant for that reason.

exactly why some choose to pole
also gladi's and warlords both get war cry the patk increasing buff.

Agreed, however, to get there you need to PvE.. correct? The fastest way for a Glad to PvE up.. is by poling. (Hell, for almost any class, its by poling, even with the nerf)
what *I* am saying is glads tend to live longer, regen more from VR, and generally use up less support mana. tyrant would see the wc go bananas NOT doing damage and watching very carfeully for overpulls, adds, and CC'ing (for which the WC is not completely the best anyway) and generally going OOM.
TBH a Glad or a Tyrant would have the WC doing the same thing. Sitting on his [censored] or just AF.
glads with their superior Pdef (non pvp build means they can tank-mimic with tank armor, + shield defs +stun, or Focus sword and FS) and high surviveability without self-bleeding would be less of a drain on the CC skills of the WC.
Now your advising a glad to go a *TANK* build? With a 1H Sword?
Man oh man.
but pve it just makes you use shots faster.
You know thats entirely incorrect right?
If your attacking 15% faster.. yes your using more shots. However, your also regaining more back from VR per swing of your monster opponent. (Not to mention flat out more damage over time then any other A set)
i am 61, and in a simple place as Field of Massacre on Doom mobs i made a LIVE SE 63, and EE 61 BOTH go out of mana.
My question would be were you using GSAP's and were you taking the group mobs as well.
I've never needed heals there on any class I've ever played. (Be it a BD, Glad, HE, Tyrant, or SwS) VR was more then enough to compensate for the piddly damage they did.
Unless your being stupid I guess. There was times I'd run into a group of 6 mobs and have to chain heal... but that was me being a moron, not my class sucking or being hard.
If your attacking 15% faster.. yes your using more shots. However, your also regaining more back from VR per swing of your monster opponent. (Not to mention flat out more damage over time then any other A set)
no, not per swing. your Patk hasnt been changed by the armor. only your attack speed. regain more per second, that i will agree with. still doesnt cut down shot cost. you just kill faster by swinging faster. boosting Patk via DC and balancing Atk speed with DC means more VR'd, but slower kill rate (by comparison)
and yes, tank build is viable. its a bit slow, but the skills and masteries (aside from shield) are all there. Fatalstrike or stun, 1h sword/blunt. hell, even 2h sword.
its just as viable as poling. and just as draining on the WC.
edit: and yes, the group mobs there are social with everything else thats undead within 400 range.
so it was always fighting 7+ mobs. they died pretty fast tho.

Read what I wrote really close :P I didnt say per YOUR swing, I said per HIS swing (the monster)
If you swing 3 times to his 1, instead of 2 times to his 1, your regaining more via VR. Had nothing to do with your p.atk in tallum.
edit: and yes, the group mobs there are social with everything else thats undead within 400 range.
Hmm.... now, maybe its been change, since I'll admit I havent been at that level range in quiet awhile, but they were never social with any of the single mobs before. (Doom Knights, etc never pulled a group mob)
Well Spud as to my comparison, between a tryant with vr and a glad with vr, the tyrant will have more survivability in PvE why? cause
Tryants dish out either really super fast normal damaging attacks or fast hard hitting attacks (depeding on what DD totem one uses) and with my tyrant buffed up with vr etc. I don't need heals, I don't need skills, i occasionally pull with blaster, Tyrants dish out damage and dish out even more damage with skills
Gladiators dish out a weak dps but their skills hit extra hard, but In PvE you don't have the mp to wipe mobs clean with skills you have to beat them down with your weaker attacks which is why many glads just pole cause they hit harder, they can take damage and they just buff attack buffs and pole.
In PvP Glads are good in higher levels really at 76+ and Tyrants are really good at 43 lol and better with bison going down to 30% hp and with the right setup you can still have tons of hp at 30%.
From PvP experience I worry more about the tyrant spamming blaster nukes getting ready to pund me to dust if I get near than the gladdy shooting off a sonic blast then trying to chase me doing little hits
Glads= weak attacks, lots of big spike damage
Tyrants= fast normal-hard attacks, big spike damage
difference is the p def which alot of people said earlier doesn't differ much till about Agrade or so...
i have no shame for being an RPer, nor shame in being PKd by a hero that i didnt even fight back to. i took the death, and the Brez from a clannie and my attacker fled like a baby with his karma. cause i reported his [censored] to wartags.
let me put it this way, hater, i been playing my server for exactly one year. in that time ive levelled 1 toon to 49, 1 to 61, all on 7 hrs a week - occasionally more. but of those 7 hrs a week i think i might have actually out exping for 4 or 5.

maybe YOU can, but i cant.
Why can't you? You don't have to have top gear to make 3% a buff round at level 61. My SpS did it w/ C-grade gear in a duo!

Not everyone is as Strong at L2 as you my tiny friend.
I'm just going to throw this out here, about duo's >.<
OL/PP ?
Not a lot of OLs these days, but we'll go out somewhere random, and just tear things apart. Never have to worry about buffs, can do some massive crazy pulls, and as long as both are paying attention, you'll survive with the correct crowd control. It's a bit of a weird set up, but if you do it right, it's great mp wise, don't need a break between buffs or anything, unless we pull too many by ahh... "accident" (On a side note, I haven't tried this somewhere that doesn't doesn't drop herbs x.x).
We haven't really needed to do any PvP with this set up, but I've always been curious to see what damage we could do, root/sleep/drain, maybe throw in a DoT, and commence the beating. T'would be fun I've always thought :]
And on a side note: Everyone knows that Spud's crazy <3
Spud,
On behalf of all tyrants/Grand Khavatari, please do not speak of our class in forums ever again. you have brought shame to us! not only did you not fight back as you were pk'd, you took a Brez at lvl 61. my god! how can you call yourself orc!?
Spud, adding to this, in the orc forums you listed your tyrant set up. i am telling you that your set up is why your tyrant is horrible. (im too lazy to go look it up but feel free).

i duo my GK and a lvl 73 WC in 8 spawn lvl 78 catas just fine. Therefroe i have to agree with Art,
i am subbed destro! i dont like it much, need to finish out the last few lvls and i am gonna leave my destro at lvl 75 and 0%. cant wait to play another class. lol
well you have bad taste in classes if you don't like destroyers
nah...you just need to play a dwarf and then you will be bored to play yet another class that has similar play style as the dwarf (dwarf on sterroids) without the frenzy and guts :p
@therubberduck /signed /signed and again /signed ... im seeing tyrants called BloodDog or Evilkiller or Undertaker or JusticeKnight and stuff ? ... What are you up to guys ? get urself at least the pride of a good NAME

That is utter bullcrap. The group mobs are not social with the undead mobs. I exp there with my Bishop sub in duo with a PW, the group mobs are social only with the walking tree mobs(can't remember their name). Also, your SE and EE friends must suck if they were both out of mana from healing you. I help my PW friend to kill the mobs by tossing one MoH/undead and I can still heal him just fine without needing breaks, and my weapon is a +0 Mysterious Sword with acumen. L2P.

Thanks, was waiting for someone to confirm that :P
I havent hunted there in about a year but I could have sworn those group mobs were not social with anything up on the hill, like the doom knights and such.
Tbh Shan I arent sure if it was healing or recharging o.O I gotten the impression from what he says that he does blaster build - could very well be wrong though then my bad. At least thats the only explanation I can figure out what he said. Otherwise I can't for the life of me figure out how he managed that feat. OI, actually could it be because no VR? Just curious, not flaiming <.<
For Pve duo I would say EE/Bish UD nuking or if melee Ty/WC. Ripping through mobs for 23-25k a pop is pretty sweet though nothing compared to UD nuking from what I gathered.
Pvp meh, I seen a well played ST with a good SS wreck some serious havork. But I can't pick a definiate one, would have to say it depends also a lot of where said pvp would take place.
Why would he have no VR if he had a live SE with him? :O And two rechargers not able to keep his mana up? HAH. You know how much dagger classes use mana for their stabs and whatnot, me and Ara can go nonstop there with just my SE recharging BOTH of us. Btw, update your signature :)

I have not been there in a little while (errr C5?) but when I killed a tree near a group mob...the group mob attacked me. mind you, they changed a lot of things...like now you cannot use might of heaven/disrupt undead on the trees anymore, but Holy Weapon still works like it did before. (I think ever since interlude?)

MoH works against mobs with the race undead.
but there are several mobs who have holy weakness, besides not being undead(Demonic creatures have it for example)
Basic and complete, see the difference in your own words? For one, you will be missing Resist buffs. You will be missing BTB/BTS. You will be missing songs and dances. If you're a nuker, you wont have clarity either. No resist shock.
So how can you say that it's a complete buff set? It's far from being one.
You can say that after you need to stay at under 30% for your best skills to work. I sure as hell would always want all the best buffs possible. Which your setup does not offer, and in the worst case will lead to multiple deaths. No resist = mcrit on new island/Varka/whatever with high lvl caster mobs = bye bye. Especially when you wont have BTB either and are at low HP.
Also, for nukers, recharges and Clarity mean a frikking huge deal. Your set is not complete in any way. It is the barebones buffs that most ppl would even consider going out with. And to have all the _needed_ buffs, the OL needs to be really high lvl to begin with.
Ok one you chose a class onto where you have to be at 30% to use your best skills so that's your fault, 2 You don't need resists for varka, although im not sure about the new island, 3 Just becuase you don't have BtB doesn't mean you have low hp and you as a destroyer have your own BtB, for nukers even with recharges and clarity, you can't go on forever unless your a SH or unless your in a herb area and in an herb area you don't need clarity or recharges you just need emp, acumen, and maybe wm, boom dead mobs get mp back with herbs.
And Both OL and WC needs to be high level for their good buffs so I don't know what your talking about there. And by complete is you have raised your basic stats for better fighting. BD,SwS, cat buffs.etc is nice to have, but as I said earlier is not needed. Only time it's needed if your doing Top Raids, Epic raids, pvp/mass pvp, sieges...
So you will take the 4k+ mcrits from Mediums at Varka and say no to resist and BTB? Yeah, right-o. Good luck with that. Also, if you didnt notice, Frenzy was changed in CT1, so no, it is not really my fault. Maybe if you actually knew anything(and didnt post about tanks having 3k DPS with bow) you'd understand that.
Herbs do not cover the mp drain, they're too random. Especially when you need more than 1-2 nukes to kill the mob.
Also, you're totally ignoring the chance of PVP. Your complete buffs are not complete, they're basic.
edit: and yes, the group mobs there are social with everything else thats undead within 400 range.
actually you would be mistaken.
the social range is there. its smaller than other social ranges, but its there.
the specific mob it is social with is the scythe bearing one. the range is pretty well 200.
if i have to explain why my SE and EE both went out of mana, you are a horrible player. but i wont, cause your head is so far up your butt you dont know the sky from a hole in the ground.
i'll play my tyrant the way i play my tyrant and ill keep on. but hey if you want to give away PVP points to the people you call your enemies, go ahead, be my guest. Orc nature has nothing to do with brainless brawn.
and i will continue to recommend people to the method of playstyle to which i have become accustomed. if you dont like it by all means continue to give cookiecutter setups/answers. i really do like it when players act like GM's with their repeated "this class must do X" replies to EVERY question people pose.
I can kill the undead mobs right in the middle of the group mobs and they still don't aggro, so please don't try to come up with your own theories about how things work when I can prove it 100% that it isn't so. Please explain why it makes me a horrible player if I don't understand how an EE and SE go out of mana in that place with a tyrant. Also, my reply had nothing to do with 'cookiecutter' setups, but reading comprehension clearly isn't one of your skills.

Argue as much as you want, but there are some traditional duos that work very well and are proven over time, including chronical nerfs:
Spellhowler/Necro + Shilen Elder
Hawkeye + Prophet
Bladedancer + Warcryer
'splain me how i aggroed the group mobs EVERY TIME then, hitting the same mobs. just swinging, no skills.
if you cant, shut the hell up.
Fraps or use the ingame video of you exping at that location and post it. We'll take it from there.

By accidentally hitting the wrong key and accidentally sending in an aoe (aka sonic/force storm in our cases), sometimes the animation of the circular explosion doesnt show and it looks just like a sonic/force blaster instaed of the actual sonic/force storm. Happened to me once or twice ^^ but i also been battling all of the other undead mobs in the middle of those groupmobs and gotten absolutely no aggression from them.... they don't social the other mobs, period. The trees mebbe? i dunno, i've never seen that nor had the desire to explore it, lol, so i guess its possible.
Ontopic.. i've said it before and i'll say it again, the ultimate duo=WS+BH end of discussion :D :)
