I would have to say that Forts are a great addition to the game. It gives a smaller clan the chance to siege on a smaller scale than castles. It has good benefits once owned. I like how they can be sieged often. I pretty much don't see any thing wrong with them. Except, the guy out front that sells the siege potions keeps walking away from you while you are talking to him. :-(
How could they possibly fall under the "not" category? :D
Doesn't seem like much of a debate there, much less two polls worth. More real estate for a greater number of clans to access, easy outlet for pvp, rewards...
It's a very good thing. Where's the downside?
Well if your clan is small, you don't really have a chance of getting one. And since you can't get one, they might as well not exist. And if a feature might as well not exist, then it can't be hot, so it must therefor be a not.
And since you can't get one, they might as well not exist
That logic is a bit backwards. Because you (hypothetical you, not you personally) can't muster enough of an effort to enjoy a feature, it shouldn't exist?
And my clan has personally helped a few of the smaller clans with 5 or 6 people on at the time acquire their own fortress.
So if you commit an actual effort to it, there's really no excuse. Unless of course you have no friends. And even if they're taken, the border fortresses are barely fortified and are therefore easy pickings.
I thought for sure that Forts would make it almost impossible for one clan to hold multiple castles(through the use of alt clans) because of the advantages they give attacking clans. I was wrong. I was really, really wrong.
I figured that a clan with maybe a clan hall in one area that chose a fort in another would be able to string out defenders and force them into the unenviable position of having to choose one castle and let the other one go since it would be too hard to keep up(mobility wise) but I just haven't seen anyone use that tactic effectively. Maybe some clans on other servers have leveraged that advantage.
Well thats what we did. Having a Rune Clanhall gives us the mobility to go to Rune sieges. Having the fortress makes us easily deployable in Oren, Giran and Aden. Only there are no sieges where such mobility is required.
