OK I totally understand that the Extra Services should have a cost associated with them, and it is quite understandable that you (as the community and development team) may have absolutely no influence on the pricing of said services.
I simply think it is asinine to ask more $$ for a service then what your retail product is currently selling for.
I guess in someways it makes it easier to limit the usage of this service by placing an outrageous price on it. That way ultimately there is less extra work that needs to be done, and for those insistent on utilizing said service regardless of price NCSoft rakes in the cash.
I merely think it would be easier to restrict time allotments and concurrent usage on a given toon.

* You are allowed to change a character's name only once every six months.
If NCSoft wanted to curb in name flopping (even if it was reasonably priced) why couldn't they say you may only change a toon's name once every twelve months and only change a name once every six months per PlayNC Account as above.
I simply do not believe this services is worth the price and that there a easier more concrete ways to restrict possible abuse of the service.
I have no intention whatsoever of changing any of my characters names (I would not have named them a name that I didn't like!) but I also think the price is too high. I can see $30 for server transfer, but not for name change. IMO, it should be $15 (the price of one month's subscription) and be a one-time deal. $30 is the cost of two months' subscription. You could practically reroll a new character w/ the name you want in that amount of time (maybe not a noblesse character, but at least a 60+ one!)

pirce is nothing, and i imagine is there to stop people takin the biscuit with it. also they need to make some money for the work the put in to make it live.
Price will stop those trying to do a few name changes to hid their botted histories. The price is nothing in the grand scheme of things. This way, they don't have to worry about someone changing it over and over again, which if you think about it, woudl eventually allow someone to lose the special name they started with as this history can only be so long.
Besides, if they really want it, they will pay it so no biggie here.
As for the slot, that is the same way the server transfers will work so the mechanism is already in place for the future.
It would take you about a year to do that...
And 30 bucks every 6 months... well... cheap.
And if you have more characters to rename, well, what were you thiking when you named them in the first place? :p
I can only see a resonable motive to change name if you change the gender. Or by some mishap (right..) you chose a name such as pink32 and now you actually want a normal name (not mirc stuff) (because at the time you were wearing a pink outfit and were 32 years old???).
Aaanyway, the services seem fine in terms of pricing them.
However the extra slot necessary is CRAZY, change this, or give 8th slot just for this! Hard? No. Common sense? Yes.
Can't even use the darn thing because it apparently requires a free slot on your account :(

Why would someone wants to chance the toons name? I really can’t see the reason.
Ok I get it, u can buy an account with a 78-79 lvl toon in it ( I won’t say 80 cause I’ll be overreacting) and then pay the service and chance the name.
Presto u have a new toon and now the road to victory is open.
Being as smart as you are u won’t be telling anyone who u really are, even your closest friends, cause u can’t jeopardize all that money, you’ll even have to buy those cool voice distortion devises that kidnappers have if u want to use old Vent server.
You‘ll have a macro ready for anyone that asks about your “lineage” Like:
Player: dude, How come I haven’t seen you around? Where did u say you were?
You: The great dragon artharas had me captured and tortured all this time, I earned my exp by killing the bugs that were on his skin, but alas I escaped
Player: iz cool, you know we have to be very careful with those name-changing services
You: (I tricked this one as well, bouhahahaha ,draculas laugh)
Of course there is the other function of this new toon of your’s, a more sinister one…
You can use your secret identity and infiltrate your enemy ranks, wait a minute you can do that with a regural account! Nop takes too much time, your 78-79 lvl toon can easily be the enemy clan leader new right hand and at the right time betray them and give your true alliance the victory!!!
If you're for some reason tired of the name you picked. That's why I want to change mine. Also I'm tired of the reactions i get from the name (people think I'm from their country, because it's an internationally used word, and start speaking to me in their language, which makes me even more tired of the name).
And I understand that it will be possible to look up who has changed their name and to what, which will limit the scamming you're able to get away with.

From my experience, NC softs worth ethic so to say, sucks. The customer service is horrible and the website to find a number to even call is worse, it takes you in circles to the point of you saving the number in your computer because you know you'll need it again later. Of course they dont want to do this much work, and it probably would have gotten the game more attention, had they not put a price on it in real currency. Should have just made it a ridiculous amount of Adena, that way its easier. Im sure they could have figured out a way to do that.
The only problem I have with the name change is not being able to keep it a secret, what's the point of paying the 30 bucks if your old name and your new name will be posted on the forums for all to see? I have no intention of changing the name of any of my toons, but if at any time I wanted to do it that would be the only reason stoping me. Its ******ed.
The reason for posted what the name was before, so for $30.00 someone can not get a clean record. For example, if a toon is a well known scammer, PK'er, etc - then changes name and then acts like the a good little school girl...
