A player on the bartz server is griefing me while I solo on the isle of prayer trying to farm my s80.
There is a 2 person party limit for hunting here. What this said person does is he has 3+ people in his party and he runs around solo and attacks people mobs with a very low dmg nuke. This causes the "island defender" moredo mob looking things to spawn, these things are like friggin raid bosses. Since I'm soloing the mob and dishing out the dmg the mobs then atk and kill me. There is nothing I can do but die.
Would you consider this abusing the system and or bannable offense?
This could be a serious design flaw if it allows players to so easily grief you.
Please help alyra the ingame petition doesn't work... I try and petition but the gm just auto responds with we will look into these players if they are using automated software blah blah blah. THATS NOT WHAT I petition about....
Please edit your post ASAP to remove all details about the griefing method, making it public like this wont help you nor anyone else hunting on IoP. I want to be able to hunt in peace, not get griefed by a bunch of random idiots all night long.
Lol [name removed] is well known griefer and ****** off quite a few people on bartz. Usually he flat out pk's people , but I'll know to look for this new tactic now.
This said information is already available if you look under the patch notes about IoP and everyone knows about the 2 person limit. I am just wondering if ncsoft knows about this and or if this is abusing game mechanics as it wasn't designed to be for griefing.
And if this is indeed a no no, then ncsoft could make some kind of announcement about this warning players what could happen if they are caught etc etc.
Manu, I would petition the situation to see what the GMs say. I'm not sure if this would be considered an exploit or not. If it is an exploit, we can request the dev team consider tweaking it.
While griefing is indeed irritating, if the player is not using illegal programs or methods (exploits, hacks, etc.), your best bet is to move on to another spot or gather your friends to convince the griefer to leave by force. :p

This is quite possibly the best answer I have ever heard about griefing in this game.
Lol, Warmachines will laugh at this. They use this trick on more bots on IoP than anything. The OP isn't doing anything nefarious now is he? He, typically only does this to players that he feels has at some point "cheated" or is closely associated with a "cheater" alliance.

The obvious "FIX" for the Devs is to make the additional spawns (Witch Warders) aggro onto the person who causes them to spawn, instead of aggroing onto the original player didnt cause them to spawn.
But yeah, If this is "Fixed" it will mean more farmers and bots at IoP....so I dunno which is the lesser evil tbh.
Currently, as long as you see it coming, you can simply stop shooting, before the Adds attack you.....you will still have the original mob after you, but its pretty easy to outrun it then instead......
If it is an exploit, we can request the dev team consider tweaking it.
A simple tweak would be to make the cats eat anyone who made them spawn and anyone in that group. And they should not be social to the IoP mobs. This way they do their job and then do what cats do best, be lazy and just enjoy the place.
Leave IoP alone, it is just fine, the DEVs did a great job coming up with this "Spawn feature" and it requires no tweaking.
It seems like you want the DEVs to make the game easier to play, like it is to hard to play with others running around trying to kill you.
Hello McFly?!?!?
It is not fine. When one person can shut down an entire area by using the spawn system then it is messed up. If that same person can shut down an entire area by flagging/pvp then that is fine. Right now I could take a stealthed TH in a 3 man party and roll through IoP using a noobie dagger and smack every mob then fake death. I'll die a few times but that island can be covered in cats.
The ingenuity of the North American player base to grief each other never ceases to amaze me.
I am not for it but the mechanics clearly show that there is a problem. By bringing it to the open then hopefully they will take a second look at this area and make a fix.
e.e The pet raiding was originally considered "use of game mechanics" as well ... only way to get this kind of thing fixed is to have someone abuse it to the point of being game-breaking for so many that they have to move.
Fortunatley, this being L2NA, there's no problem in achieving that. :
Thank you for contacting Lineage II Support. Actions of this type aren't necessarily a violation if the player does not know what he or she is doing. However, if we are able to verify intent, then it is a violation.

The Lineage II Support Team

Just received that from the l2 support. So to all you griefers out there this is your heads up. I don't know about you guys... But I have no intention of finding out what happens if you get caught doing this to other players.
The first time I went to IoP I was in a group with 2 buffers. I didn't know about the 2 person limit and got the spawns. I just killed the original mob and the 2 cats disappeared. I'm not sure if that always happens or not.
reasons why these problems get to NA and not stopped in korea is because we have a different mentality. A lot of the changes to the game have been because of the NA mentality of cheating and griefing. In korea even if there is a way to exploit something they tend to stick with the design of the game instead of going OMGWTHIPWNED Your noob bootie because I found a way of getting around the system.
A thing we can see are the changes to the raid pets exploit, the merc being dragged into towns, perching if you were around in c1/c2 you know what perching is, the introduction of cp because of the b2m tatic people would use to get people to go red, training people for gear hence no more whites dropping. The biggest change coming is the fortress change because in NA we yet again cease to play the game the way it was designed and instead of actual clans taking forts hero clans get a level 5 alt clan to take the fort with 2 people in it and then transfer the rep points to their main clan and anyone who attacks the fort seeing a two person clan owning gets nailed by 20 something heros.
Grats NA you proved you can exploit any design that comes out of NCSoft Korea lol
Well, I would say devs underestimate one thing: people will not play how it's intended to be played, but how they want to play it. Dev's vision of fun sometimes =/= player's vision of fun.
I still can't see how this is in any way breaking the EULA or abusing mechanics as much as pulling a train on someone is....
All you're doing is training someone, and it's easily avoided by stopping attacking the mobs when someone comes near to spawn the warders. The only people who lose out are the botters, and that's a good thing, lol.
I still see no official responce that this is breaking the rules so I assume it's a valid gameplay tactic.
Obviously some of you can't comprehend, it's not so easy as stop hitting the mob.
I'm attacking something and i'm in the grind zone. Mr griefing -_-er rolls along when your not paying attention, ice strikes your mob with some random toon. Even if you stop hitting the mob these things still want to chew your -_- to tiny pieces as you've done the most damage to X mob already. You are dead before you realized what has just happened.
Such a easily accessible no risk griefing tactic should not be at someones disposal.
And guess what, 4% is a -_- at lvl 79.
The 2 player party limit is supposed to be designed to only allow small parties to level on the island. It's is NOT designed as a griefing tool to be so easily accessible that it allows you to kill anyone in a blink of an eye without any risk to yourself. That right there is abusing game mechanics.
And obviously you did not read my post WITH THE OFFICIAL RESPONSE from gm lemoncobra.
No one even need to have 3 people in party. You can have two people in party and attacking and a third person attacking the same mob will spawn the little devils. I think.
The reason I think this is how it works; I had my buffer in party and was killing a mob, when an archer shot the same mob, which made the kittens spawn. I don't know if he had anyone else in party, but no one else was around.
Sorry, but I fail to see why they would need to change this. If you see the toon comming PK him/her. And I see this as a great way to get our "friends" out of the place.
LOL..at BlankStares...sounds like to me the botters are already complaining judging by the original post...and a GM's response being official is so C1...

Don't be silly. Last time I was at IoP someone tried to PK me from behind, and above me on a hill, while I was engaged with 2 mobs. I never saw them. Luckily I am reasonable fast with the BSOE. I only found out who it was because he didn't immediately attack my buffer.
