The situation on Lionna is getting out of hand. People are starting to use the EULA as a means of griefing by forcing name changes. It started with Analhanna, a character who has existed for several years with that name, is a person that primarily speaks french, and is not meant to be offensive. Somehow this gave Artbuntrector, a friend of analhanna the idea of using the same tactic. He asked in Hero shout for people to /petition NastyBastard and get his name changed. Well, lo and behold. That happened. NastyBastard has been around for years using that name. I still cannot see how it can be offensive. In response, NastyBastard asked his alliance to petition Artbuntrector. And, of course, NCSoft obliged and has changed Artbunt's name to NameChange#### as well. Nasty must have been pretty creative to figure out how Artbuntrector was offensive.
NCSoft is facilitating the harrasment of other players by allowing absolutely any excuse for a forced name change to be acceptable. All three of these people should be given their names back. Otherwise, Alyra, I request that you alter the EULA and state that harrasment is permissible. Because that's what NCSoft is sanctioning with these baseless name changes.
I personally don't see how you can find the name 'Artbuntrector' offensive, I sometimes find the person Artbuntrector offensive but not the name. ;)
It's not but it is also monumentally stupid to use hero chat to ask the server to mass petition someone you don't like. He should've expected exactly what happened.

I agree, but the GM's should show some common sense and not let this get out of control. They shouldn't change a name just because a bunch of people asked for it.
I used to wonder how Analhanna was allowd to keep that name. never really bothered me, just found it as odd (yes I know it is AnaLhana or something, but the names allow you to usecaps and the Eula is enforced using english, hence the greek cussing in hero chat goes unchecked.
nasty and art being forced to change is just kind of lolemolionna. Kind of pathetically sad in a way.
Ehm... nastyBastard got changed? hhahaha, seriously Alyra, do something, that is ridiclious.
Analhanna, sure, should be changed, but nastybastard.. hah.

"Common sense" and "Good judgment" should never be used in the same sentence with "GM". It just ain't happening. This should really surprise no one. I'll bet they'd namechange "aaaaaaaaaaa" if enough people petitioned.
I think some people are just trying to get a free name change! :p
Ok, kidding.
I'll check with the GMs to see how the policy stands right now (ie. how they make a decision, what basis they go off of, etc.) With the character name change service in effect now, we may need to make some adjustments.
3 or 4 years with a name, and now, some stupid ppl do petition to change a name which never bored someone...
LOL GF GM, we ALL are asking for bots mass ban, and the only thing you can do is what? asking to someone to change his name? are you professionals, or only some students doing a job for few dollars?
Lionna delivers! So, can the GM team precent us with a list of words/acronyms that are deemed unappropriate to be included in names so that we can from now on avoid such names and make sure that any person with such a name still has a nice Namechangexxxx, free of charge ^^
People obiously have a good point here; why is "NastyBastard" offensive and "Bastard Sword" not?
Why don't you introduce a system when someone tries to make a name with offensive words in it, just give them a message, "Sorry, this name includes one or more bannable words, please pick a new name".

cuz that would make sence - hence not in the business rules of NCNA.....
I wonder. What about names that are offensive in their native language? Or hero chat that is full of abusive language (mostly in Greek)? What is the rule in these cases? Don't tell me that only English are aloud becouse I will rofl.
Myeah, we definetley need a clear stand on this issue.
I wanted to name a char Corrector for eexample (was taken), but it could be considered offensive since it contains.. rect?
Come on, I'm looking forward to a clear stand on this issue as it's rather stupid and weird words appear in many many names while beeing almost invisible. For example Dessex? Just because it containts sex? (why sex would be considered offensive or inappropriate i won't argue, people are too prude).
And the list could go on like.. forever!
I find very very few names offensive, haven't seen more than 1 or 2.
Disgusting != Offensive
IMHO
****You would be an offensive name in my mind, AnalLeakage wouldn't, disgusting maybe, but not offensive. Never seen either of those names I just made them up as examples :p
And a name like DanaLina or something which contains **** wouldn't bother me at all.
See... there is a reason I see people running around with names like "asd123" "kjghji" and "iwf82". Heh and I thought they were automated players... tuns out they're just afraid of the EULA!
i'm a friend of analhanna, and had him in my friendlist, but now nomore analhanna neither changenamexxxx... may i do a ticket for it, coz GMs had done something wrong?
Q. :
Dear GM,
you changed a friend's name, and now he doesn't appear in my friendlist anymore and i can't pm him (coz i don't know his new name), do u think u can do something for me?
A. :
Dear Aghen,
we apologize for this, and we'll do something Soon (tm).
