The 'value' of various overenchanting amounts has been burning a hole in the back of my head for some time now. So with a bit of free time I created this table to see exactly how 'good' each overenchant is compared to higher weapons. (Well as far as pure stats go, independent of the purty glow!)
The chart goes from C grade to S grade. (I ignore S80 and Hero for this.) I give the 'clean' patk of the melee weapons and the matk of the mage weapons as a reference, but actually start the data at +3 for comparison purposes. (Starts at +3, then +4 to +16) Since these are the usual values most people will be dealing with on average and +3 is the 'safe' enchant amount.
Just looking at the information here, (If you see an obvious error let me know!) we can see a visual confirmation of what most people already suspected. Mage weapons get the most out of overenchanting, followed by daggers, then 1H Sword ( and blunt) and then the 2H weapons.
One thing I didn't put on the chart, but was tempted to add was the shot amounts needed for each weapon in C grade. (Since B grade and up is just 1 per.)
You will also note the lack of data for Bows...this isn't because it doesn't exist. (I did a chart for those too...) But because the results for it are not very useful. Simply because there is such a huge overlap in certain areas because of the difference in patk for the different bow speeds. (Slow versus Very Slow) I have not yet decided what is the best way to represent the data there. Although I may post that raw data later for reference.
One thing that stands out to my mind once I had a visual representation of this data, is how 'good' mage weapons have it. Since the main SA for a mage is acumen and that SA is the same for all levels of the SA, while Focus is the 'best' SA for melee weapons but it (like other melee SA's other than health) goes from a high value at the lower end of C grade to a low point at top B before A grade completely reverses the values.
Thus a OE'd mage weapon with acumen is very easy to deal with, while a melee weapon has to also consider a degraded SA value from Low C to top B grade as well when comparing weapons.
Yeah, I sort of discovered a bit of this by accident. I had a huge amount of low grade weapon enchants. So I decided to just over enchant my Flamberge thinking that it is so cheap that I could easily replace it.
Got it to +8 My very first "highish" enchant. Bright glow and everything.
Then I saw a + 3 Berserker Blade and realized how woefully behind I was. :(
Fortunately in C Grade you can swap it for something else. :p
It doesn't keep the enchant though right?
Even swap always keeps the same enchant level. Any upgrade removes the enchants. (Even if it ends up being a 'downgrade'!)
And on that note, I've revised the comparison tables to fix some errors with S and A grade enchants. I've also put the base +'s in a chart in the corner to see what I am using. (I use those in my formula now, instead of manually typing it all the time too...should make maintenance easier in the future.)
Thanks to Xayla for noticing the error in the S grade enchant amounts. I was using the text description from stratics for the amounts to use, and there is an error on the S grade scroll description that I used by mistake. (I only have D and C grade scrolls on hand to check against in game.)
I've also added the raw data for the bows to this one as well. From the chart you can see where having two bows with very similar patk (but different speeds) skews the data a fair amount.
I'll add data for the Dualswords later when I have a bit more time again. (Sorting them into grades w/o the multiple variations will take some time.)
Can you add a table for the colors? I can't tell if the orange or tan is high risk or low risk.
The color has nothing to do with risk. (since everything above +3 has the same risk! aka. 1/3 chance of blowing up.) It's just there to match the weapon on the left with the patk values on the right. AKA, I tend to use bright red for the top B weapon, so if you look to the right, everything in bright red has the same or better patk than top b. (But less than low A, since the next weapon up has a different color.)
I more or less randomly chose colors, greenish for C, Red for B, Yellowish for A and Golden for S. And then tried to stay roughly in that color sceme while changing the shades to allow one to visually 'see' the changes easily.
I'll comment that Naga storm, and AS are correct. I own a +3 naga and its P atk is 232. while I had a +11 AS on interlude PTS, thats P atk was 341. I have SS somewhere to prove it.
S/g +4 and above is +10 more P atk.
tho I don't think I'm adding much to the thread lol. Thanks for the chart interesting. :)
Fixed that for ya in the next version. (Changed the label on Swords to add Pole and Blunt.) :p
I'm not sure what Xalya saw that was wrong.
I was using +3 for S grade 1H instead of +5 like it should be. Not sure if I had other S grade errors, as I wiped all the old formulas, rechecked the +'d amounts and redid it all for the last version.
Ok, Duals are done, and I added Fist weapons as well. I'll add the Kamael Rapiers, Boltguns and Ancient Swords later, as I think they are different enough to need their own charts. I assume that rapiers count as 1H, Boltguns as Bows and Ancient Swords as 2H....if anyone knows different I'd like to hear it!
Since Kamael have a mix of magic and physical skills, I'm not sure if I want to do just the patk for their weapons, or if I should do two tables for each...or just two lines for each weapon. I'll pontificate on that a bit, but suggestions about it would be helpful.
I'm tempted to add the Dynasty and Icarus weapon data just for the hell of it, although I think the Dynasty info I have is slightly incomplete/unfinished and I don't have the names of the Icarus weapons. (Not sure if their stats are truly final either...I got the stats off Playforum, but I can't read the Korean text! So I don't know if those are just test server numbers or CT1.5 final...)
I'll upload the newest chart later tonight when I have time.
Fists were added, duals were added, Rapiers, Ancient Swords and Bowguns were added too.
The Kameal melee weapons seem to all use the 1H enchants, while the bowguns had their own enchant amounts, that were slightly less than the amount given to bows. That said, bowguns seem to gain more per enchant than everything except mage weapons and possibly regular bows.
Unless someone notices another error on the new stuff, all that is left for me is to add the Dynasty and Icarus weapon data.
