If I may offer one piece of advice to you (and take it for what it's worth)..it would be to not let all of the negative people that you've already been exposed to get to you and bring you down. They basically have nothing better to do than [Censored] and complain about how bad everything in this game is...but yet they still log in everyday and play.

Thanks for posting. I sincerely hope you continue to feel positive and that you share that positive feeling.
Some few trollers will probably post to tell you everything that sucks about the game (lol)---and of course there are some things that are less than perfect.
At the same time, I remember feeling like you do and I still believe it's a great game to log into every day after 2 years of playing.
Find some good folks in the game and build some relationships. Don't be in a hurry to "level fast". Read up on how to earn extra adena (at lvl 20+ you should be manoring in cata's with blank scroll quest from Necropolis of Sacrifice internal gatekeeper and collecting seal stones--for example).
Disregard 99% of the negative you read on this forum. Almost none of it will pertain to you anyway--what little complaining that does pertain to your experience is likely just wrong.

I've been playing 6 months and I still feel the way you do. Although you will read negative comments on the forum and most may be true, this is still a great source for information. A lot of people have excellent information. You may not see a live GM but these guys make up for it 10 fold with their knowledge of the game. I guarantee any question will be answered, with SEVERAL opinions.

dont listen to the cryers, just ask them why they still log in if that game "sucks" that much... so even if it sucks it sucks less then all other games ;)
Welcome to the game. Remember the game is more than pvp and the exp grind regardless of what others say. There is the money grind, there are quests, clan activities, fishing, crafting, etc. Find things about the game that you enjoy and play them and you will stay for a very long time (until the devs nerf your favorite part of it, LOL).

I'm out with my friends, who I've know for years, every night...
Wild parties, dog training seminars, swim meets, hiking/running, the list goes on... I even volunteer with the local 'keep your community clean - pick up other people's trash' commitee.... **grins**
Just cause its all inside a video game doesn't make it any less of a social time with friends and family, for me.

Yeap it's a great game, over the years tho I'm not completely sure if I should thank or curse the friend that introduced me to it! It's alot of fun, but also a huge timesink!
I tried playing wow and a few other mmo's, but when you compare them to l2 they all feel so cheap...really looking forward to aion tho.
Visuals, people, economy, castles, general concepts and difficulty, pets, dwarves and crafting and spoiling, clans, weapons, clan wars, PvP, mob visuals, mob AI, difficulty level, scenery, races, the moon and stars, the drama, the debating, the boards, the traditions and lore, the Mother Tree, the monument to the developers, the raid bosses, the super classic raidbosses, the subclass quest, other quests, the friendships, the evil players to combat, the 7 signs system, the rarity of some gear, the need to work hard and long to accomplish high levels, the ants nest and wastelands, striders and wyyverns, animations and soulshots, the ding when you level, falling in love....and this is just scratching the surface.

Appears I've been on this forum so long I automatically think the worst!
I was going to type that you should leave the new person alone!!! (lol).
I love the player-influenced economy most, followed closely by the views and size of the game. I've always liked the Pve interface and style. And unlike many, I think the content (though it could use some work) is pretty diverse.
Being able to hunt and laugh with friends in-game and to choose new areas where there is some tension and risk is pretty cool too.
I've never been a huge PvP fan though I generally rush in to die dramatically for whatever cause of the moment happens to be going on.
Well there are freaking many aspects not willing to write them here...

You forgot to mention the awesomely excellent new Server Transfer feature that took months and months to complete !
I really thought only SOE could be stupid enough to screw up their own game (Star Wars Galaxies), but it seems like NCNA is trying real hard to compete with them here :p
(and for the record, yes i do love this game, but how it's slowly but surely not supported anymore is beyond me... i guess we'll just have to wait for Aion or Lineage III...)

I believe you wanted me to answer this, as I am the author of the post. I apologize for the delay in replying. For, when I have come home from work and turned on my computer, it seems that there is this error in my brain that logs me straight into the game. Hehe, anyways, I am having lots of fun with the game and am in an awesome clan. Level 32 now, not bad. On my way to make my Shillien Knight. Anyways I enjoy the design of the game alot, as well as the combat which seems to be much faster than most the other games I have played. It also is a fresh breath of air having a death penalty, brining an actual sence of loss when you die, un like most mmo's you play now, where there are no penalties for dying. I really like my character which is a Dark elf. The character model looks so sinister! My only compaint is the w,a,s,d,keys. They could have made it so that you could move a little better with directional keys. Other than that, I just bought a new logitech mouse for all my clicking needs for L2. I have started to raid, which is also really fun. The fact that its not he normal, wait around for 2 hours until raiding is very refreshing. We can get the clan togethter and go straight to the Raid mobs. In addition, while there are some immature people in the game, I enjoy the general population of the game. They are in essence, mature and very similar to me, while still having a streak of evil in them to keep them playing an all pvp game. I look forward to leveling and getting my new gear, but in the same page, I must say that I am having fun leveling my way up as well! Oh yea, last thing, this game has tons of players running around at lower levels, where most games that have been out for a over a year, and in L2 case, almost 4 years have no players at lower levels. So I have had fun running aroundin zones with lots of player populating the 1-32 level zones.
