I'm coming back to L2 after being gone for a while. My highest level char from before was a lvl 53 BD and I don't really feel like playing that one now. So time for a new character :)
I decided I'm going to make a Destroyer (it was between that or Gladiator). I'm planning to dual box a buffer with the Destro. Mostly since true soloing after the newbie buffs start to drop off at 35 will be really painful and I don't expect there to be many people to party with before at least B grade.
So the question is... Which buffer  ? I have a 46 Proph and a 44 SE that I could use or I could make a new WC. So which one do you all think has the best set of buffs for the Destro? Maybe split it, which is best below 52 and which is better 52+.
Prior to the frenzy nerf, I would have taken SE without looking back (WC requires quite high level to be really effective if I remember correctly), but now, when you have to maintain <30% HP level... Most probably Prophet, mainly due to his Bless the Body and a few other useful buffs, that WC doesn't have.
I don't really know how would WC fit in this case. Never had one myself.
If I were you I would have chosen Gladiator though. And not only because of the Frenzy nerf.
WC. Destro has BTB as selfbuff. Prophet will do the job just fine too, as long as you hunt herb areas. Which is quite nice actually. So, if you dont fancy rolling a new WC, just go with the Proph.
WCs gets all the important buffs, at 56 it's almost as good as a PP already. A WC only really need some resists, BTB and Mental shield. BTB and Mental shield can be fixed with weapon SA (SoeS BTB and Hell Knife Mental shield, not cheap, but works). Resists doesn't even work at end game lawl!!! Other than that, I 'll miss zerk and holy weapon, but can just relog for that if I really really want it.
I recently "rerolled" my pet account from PP/SE to WC that more or less covers all the buffs I need in PvE. If you bother to level it to 78 you'll have the best overall buffer in game, IMO.
So it sounds like the WC, at higher levels especially, would offer the best set of buffs. Also if I'm partying them I guess the WC would add more damage than the others.
I keep hearing about some change to VR. What was changed? Is it less effective now?
You can find all the changes in the patch notes, but to make it short: VR, single mob= max HP you can get back is what the mob has left. Otherwise works normally.
Multiple mobs(poling)= VR effect gets divided by every mob you hit. Sucks, means it is pretty much useless. Get a healer for poling, not SE.
WC is best choice, SE second best choice. Why do I say SE is 2nd best choice? Simple. A Destroyer is a natural for XPing in areas with multi-HP mobs. Unfortunately, most of the multi-HP areas do not frop herbs, so having an SE with it's modest heals is a big help when soloing - combined with it's VR. A WC's healing power is limited, so it suffers in that aspect when compared to an SE. But the WC buffs are so sweet, I have gone this route and I just look for ways to manage the HP with the limited WC heals, when soloing.
You need healing? O.o WoA solo with SE buffs at Banders = no healing. HS with PP or SE buffs = no heals. FotD, BS with PP buffs = no heals. IoP SE+PP = no heals. And all of those beat catas imo.
Ah that change to VR makes sense, in a twisted L2 sort of way, I guess. Still really sucks for poling, but I never did that a whole lot anyways.
I guess I'll go with the WC although I imagine I'll be spending quite a bit on haste / greater haste pots lol. Won't really need it if I'm in the catas or somewhere like that. Orcs just run so slooooow :(
If you're not getting healing, then you're either consuming pots to maintain HP, or you're stopping to sit every once it a while. Or, you've gor a regeneration buff (those work quite well, at least in some places).
VR+ Frenzy, Zealot, Rage and Guts cycling with BR. If I could have PoF/CoV and BD dances, I would be permanently Raged and able to pop BR/Frenzy/Guts about every minute or so.
