I've been wondering if anything at all, other than skill level (and enchants as mentioned of course), affects success rate? I was thinking about WIT, but I see no real difference between when I'm wearing maj and DC. I haven't tested the difference with and without wild magic, because it's in the macro and I cba, and deep down I don't think it has an influence on lethal strike rates.
Anyway, I'll be watching this topic with great interest. I hope some of the bishops here aren't as lazy as I am, and more curious by nature :p
What type of enchant do they have on turn undead? Power?
Thank you for you replies so far. I mean m.atk affects fear, land rate of trance and other skills etc. Though there is no real source that i can find :p
NM robe set, Shield and SOM with Acumen can produce some fast undead killing as a bishop, but I still prefer Dasparion staff with mana-up and Tallum robes.
The only variations I have used is with an Arcana Mace/Acumen and SOM/Acumen. The Arcana Mace lands more. Empower/WildMagic makes a difference. Clarity makes a difference. I've been wearing DC, but I'm gonna try it with Majestic tonight to see if that is any difference.
Personally the ability to wield a shield and an acumen weapon is a bonus imo, although i have to say mana-up staff is really useful for exp groups. When i get my bishop back up to A I'm probably gonna have a mace and shield for undead smashing and a dasp with mana-up for group exp. also need to work on getting me some maj robes.
Really no reason for a mana up anything IMO. If you really need a big honking pool of mana for like, raids (and for some reason there aren't a stack of SE's doing nothing anyway) a coversion weapon would work.
Otherwise as I have always said, MORE mp just means more downtime for the added uptime. That's really only good if you need to use a lot of mp in a relatively short period of time (raid bosses).
I agree with Ellie, mana generation rate matters a lot more than total mana pool, since being at full mana is rare. If majestic robes (+mana regen) allow you to kill as fast as other robes, in an hour you will kill more because you have more mana.
matk does not affect the land rate of the Lethal Strike part of Turn Undead, only the fear land rate (but who cares about the fear part really). In fact lethal strike will land just as well without using shots, so you can save some money there by not using shots.
You can also avoid having to smack a mob once to finish it off, by enchanting Turn Undead to +1 Add Attack. This will make the skill do a little bit of damage. If lethal strike lands, the damage will be done AFTER the lethal, so the mob will die instantly.
Yeah, I just enchanted TU, and now it does kill them if the lethal lands... ofc the downside is that the slept mobs are now awakened by the skill... so 6 of one/half a dozen of the other. The fear is pretty good... at least it keeps the mob from smacking you until lethal lands.
My opinion about the robes you use is DC set for bishop, cause he doesnt have the same casting speed as EE's, and majestic for EE's cause mana regen really helps when you rest. The land rate difference between the two robes is insignificant
I'm currently using DC Robes, mainly becuase of the wit. EE can get the rez bonus with maj unlike bihsops.
If you have +5 WIT from Tatoos, you'll get max rez with a Bishop 74 anyway. And don't bother me with the 0.4% of the lost 4% XP difference between 25 and 26 WIT. Between 89.6% and 90% rez, the best one is still the BRez. Hands down.
Have done some small testing with Turn Undead and WM2.
EE 72, +4 Wit, DC set, no attack buffs (except Acumen), Wizard's Tear+3 with no shots, Fettered Souls. 100 tested, 32 landed, the chance confidence interval is 23%..42% (confidence level 95%).
After buffing WM2, 100 tested, 33 landed, the chance confidence interval is 24%..43% (confidence level 95%).
The chance of landing seems to be about 1/3rd in both cases, but with such small number of samples, it's hard to be highly confident in the result. On the other hand, I won't be surprised if I get full buffs on me, use shots, and still have like 31 landed in 100 tries. Need much more spirit ore, MP and time to run meaningful tests.
By the way, do Gatekeeper Zombies in Pagans give any XP when killed? :D

And EE rez is max 80% so who cares?
Isn't the max wit needed to get the best rez 27wit? I'm sure using +5witdyes and dc i just get that and with maj i don't. I may be wrong, i'll need to check when the server is on :)
The +1 wit tattoo you have to get for the +5 wit really prevents you from getting the other tattoos you need -- boy was I yelled at for that!! :) DC and Tallum come with +wit... so bishop gets the full max rez. Doesn't matter what an EE does, they top off at 80% rez, just like Bishops top off at 90% rez. However, with Clan Luck 2 (even 1) the player-given rez can be pretty ****ed close to a brez.

When you say it lands, are you speaking about the fear effect or the lethal strike?
