Angels in Aden?

Has anyone noticed any Angels in Aden?

Because I have, around 1:30 am (Wed morning). Disciple of Light and one other...

Perhaps this is a precursor of an event? I know some other people have reported angels in other places, but I don't know if any have seen them in the city.
Seen em in Giran. Just kill em.
Since the old thread was locked - I kinda forgot about it.

So ..... Alrya...... since it has been 3 weeks or so..... what has the dev team told you about this????

And it is ok, if your answer is "I am still waiting for an answer, bla bla bla" cuz we all know how it is these days....

But... if you use the word "soon(TM)" in your answer ... God help me....

:)

PS - why does Spam not respond to a real valid question via email? Yes, I have hijacked this thread...
Coincidentally as I was reading this thread my winamp just randomized a great song: Dissection - Where Dead Angels Lie

/end offtopic

Yeah, any new info about these weirdo angels?
It's a ... feature.
lol this thread will now be locked for no reason as well :)
If I were more paranoid I would say some GMs are playing pranks without approval, or some users with powers exceeding their attribution... Matrix style.. so the hush*hush manifests in a padlock, but I'm not paranoid so I won't say anything.. wait, oh, oops.

Last time I saw Gm's having some fun was at late c5 or early interlude? not sure. They were running around giran as kariks and doom knights and dropping rice :P . And they stayed for like an hour? The thread mentioned above was saying he stayed for hours..
you know far too much and speak too loudly sir.
dont talk about them *they* all know about this and dont want anyone else to know. get outta town and find a safe place to hide.
arent those the transformations
nope
No, I posted the pictures in the other threads but the transforms dont' look like that.
I want the one that follows you around and buffs you.

btw I have not seen it yet. I did see the images from Ellie's post in the other thread, but did anyone get a screen print of the actual angels following people around?
RumorMonger: Angels are investigating the sudden surge of souls being stolen by Kamael. Any parties with Kamael in them will randomly be attacked by Angels.

Play on :)
nice rumor mill tavi, GG.
The angels are part of a secret event. If you give the correct phrase you will get an epic jewelry or some lesser items like GHP, GSAP, GMHP among other things. After someone gives the correct phrase they won't spawn for another 2-3 weeks. Clues to the phrase can be obtain from an icon that random spawns before the angels appear. Once the angels show up the icons stop spawning and existing ones vanish.
Before CT1 I created a thread in suggestions area to game developers to add new secret content to the game in teh next update. Here's the link: thread (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Board=suggestions&Number=918387 &Searchpage=1&Main=918387&Words=%26quot%3BSuggesti on+on+new+content%26quot%3B&topic=&Search=true#Pos t918387)

Maybe they heard me :)

I hope this is not random or bug.. maybe ppl are doing something in common that makes those spawns.
Well, I wrote back the original poster of that previous thread (which was locked due to flaming, not the topic) to let her know what our team suspected. The mysterious servitor appearing in a dungeon and following a player around was something our QA team was unable to reproduce based on the little info they had been given. The most promising explanation they could surmise is that it's either an unexplained bug, or that it's related to this patch note from C3.

If a player is in danger during a fight against a monster, a hero monster appears to help the player.
Hm. I thought that meant one of the two mobs actually labeled "hero" (other than that one raid boss that I believe has hero in the title).
How does that explain the mobs appearing in Town and just hanging in there? Huh?

Cant be that hard to pinpoint a bug that is so obvious >.>

it's always hard to pinpoint where in the code the bug is if you can't reproduse it.
Like checking the server logs for when it spawns a mob in Town? In a totally different place from where it should spawn?

I play since C4, died a lot and no hero mob ever appeared ><

Anyone has ever had help from mob?
This was removed after C4 or still active? And why only now they appear?

Too many secrets.. the game is finally getting fun... :)
Oh.. I remember hunting around Goddard for a few buff rounds when out of nowhere a Varka Silenos spawned near me. I know their right place is near goddard but not that near.
Maybe a bug or some GM testing me >< I killed it btw.. it acted normally.

And it was in Interlude.. few weeks before CT1.

Server log won't tell you the reason a bug appeared or where in the code to check for the error.
Maybe and easter egg too.... Oo
I doubt anyone logs where mobs spawn anyway. Can you imagine the traffic from that ? Not to mention except in exceptional cases like this, who even cares where they spawn, since they are already given spawn spots to spawn on.

No, but if that shows anything different from the normal process at all, they have atleast something to look at.
why noone reads my theories? =(
lol

maybe the player that triggered the hero mob to spawn bsoed to town ?

the mob in town was not a hero one.
The hard part for them is trying to figure out if the old code is still active somewhere and if it is how are the mobs spawning. Of course it seems like the angels are only doing this in what 1/10,000,000 spawning times - you know, like event drops... (sorry had to go there). It would be very hard to find.

As to keeping a log of spawn points - they could be doing that, but the files size would be HUGE!!!!!!

I do like your theory Noodles -that it could be a rouge Tier 1 GM - but that would have to mean that they know how to play the game...and we all know better.
I saw an angel on bartz in plains of glory last night when hunting on my kamael , i thought maybe someone had trained it there. but it seemed to follow me around from a distance , i didnt dare attack it knowing it would easily kick my [censored]. After about 15mins it seemed to move on
It was one of the MOS female type angels with 4x hp
Alrya/Spam - would it help if when a toon has an angel to send a petion in game and let the GM staff know not to just hit F2 for the auto response so that they could come to the toon and check it out?
Do the mobs that spawn in town also buff people? Or are they just regular mobs spawning at the wrong place?

The buffing mobs are awesome, those sort of things appearing and acting randomly is **** fun.
And the whole concept of an old code snippet going rogue without the devs finding it is just wonderful, haha :)

Dont repair this ^^
Normal mobs that can kill alot of people thanks to the new way of how you can target ppl even if they havent loaded yet.
Hmm, Im not familiar with that.
Can you ellaborate please?
ROFL that's one of the most pleasant bugs this game ever had. If all bugs were like this :D
I don't believe for a second that the staff does not know what this is. IF that would be the case it's just not the tier 1 gm's that need replacing imo.

I believe it's just a way to make everyone excited by acting like they don't know what it is. But, hey! It works.
Anyway, cool add to the game.
Some mobs will jump you the second you log into game, so if your computer is slow and you aggro one of these fun guys, you'll be dead before you even see your character show up.

The ant groups in the wasteland formerly known as "desperados" will do that. I've had it happen :/

Yes this is really frustrating. Both when trying to run throught giran fast before everyone spawns you get stuck randomly clicking ppl you cant even see and therefore cant move unless you click walls, and you run into a new area and wartags are hitting you even if you cant even fricking see them.
Ah, the typical black screen issue ^^

Ah, the typical black screen issue ^^

I'm not talking about black screen now. It can be a normal field and i run straight into it and i see mobs and then i see my cp starts ticking down and after a few more secs i see a wartag hitting me.. and then it's already too late. <.<
Something changed with how ppl load into your screen with T1. Hella annoying.
It was just a normal monster from what i saw
I just saw my first one, in Witches. It was a Pilgrim's mob from VoS. It spawned in a botted room. The bots attacked it. It wiped out the entire bot party..so fun!
Yeah that it is. Like before when you ported to a town the npcs would load first, then all the players. Now it seems to try to place everyone before you can see them (leading to that annoying I-can't-move-because-someone-is-sitting-there thing), plus you have to wait 30+ seconds or so for the **** npcs to show up.

This is interesting... consider it a theory.....

This is a GM tool that they are using to check for bots.....

30 seconds?! Lucky you, Giran is half-loaded after FIVE minutes for me. I was forced to memorise all the key NPC's names already, since it takes forewer and a week to load gatekeeper or priest of dawn or pet manager etc... /target NPC + attack ftw.
Previous system was good, I hate this "feature".

I am still waiting to meet my first angel, but i find all this story funny as hell. If it's a feature, then gratz NCsoft, that was good idea. If it's not... rofl.
OMG THAT"S THE ANSWER!

if NC made a huge announcement that they were going to spawn passive level 80 x4hp mobs randomly in the catacombs/necroposises and the bots start attacking them and they all die, that would be perfect, I would pay money for that to happen lol!!!
They spawn just as much in Towns as in some random cata. I find it more worrying to accidentally bump into one in Town while still loading all the toons and NPCs.
I haven't seen one yet, outside it's place...

They aren't agro and won't do you any harm unless you attack one.
Ok, how many times does one have to explain this... CT1 = when you load a new area, you CAN target people/NPCs not loaded yet. So, you're trying to run as fast as possible from the GK, before loading every single shop and whatnot. You're bound to click on a few names. Now, you can just aswell click on the mob and boom, bai bai.

Considering that the one that popped in Giran was next to the GK, I'd say that you have a HIGH chance of targetting it and even attacking it while not even seeing it yet.
When you target something even if you can't see it you will get the little window saying what you have in target. Also a good indication that you shouldn't click on the same target again is that the mouse pointer changes into a sword.
And if you happen to click twice in a rapid succession, you're already attacking before you even notice it. Most people DONT expect mobs to be in town, so they click fast around in order to manouver.
I find it's easier to control my toon if I dont spam my mouse clicks. One good mouse click will get the job done just fine. If your strategy for navigating around is to spam the left clicker, you really deserve it :P
I can kill the angel, but not everyone can. And one mouse click does nothing if it targets a yet loading shop. You'll just have the name up then. But I guess Kain is so empty now that you can click anywhere on Giran and not get a shopname up.
Nope if you click all over the place like mad like I do (because I like to get places fast) you'll pretty much always hit a shop. I haven't seen an angel on Kain though so my insane clicking should be ok.
So you understand the issue anyway. Also, the angel mob is much bigger than a normal player or shop, so it is quite easy to target it accidentally, especially when it stands next to the GK lol.
Why not use the w, a, s, d keys to navigate?
WASD is for FPS games.

Doing it old school - nice!!!

QFT. Trying to use that for this game is just flat out silly. You can't dodge spells, you can't strafe arrows.
I usually klick some wall or the sky in the direction i want to move, since there is no point searching for an empty place on ground to point to or watch random shop windows if you spam mouseclicks on the invisible people.

But yeah, that does not prevent from hitting an angel, especially if he is right in front of you. Not that he would stay alive in Giran for long on Teon.

I do it all the time, I multi task a lot.
Up, Down, Left, Right?
I'd love to be able to move around with "WASD", it's not only for first person shooters, also third persons (remember hitman, max payne, splinter cell, gta3 etc. All of them made great success. WoW also uses this system and i love it).
The only games i have played more or less hardcore without the "WASD" system would be Donkey Kong (SNES), Tony Hawk's Pro skater 1 and 2 (PS1), Diablo2LoD (PC) and L2 (PCLOL).
The rest is first and third person games (PC).
I hate WASD. x.x Always takes me a long time to get used to it when I play other games cuz I'm so used to L2...

Up, Down, Left, Right?

Wasn't it Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select, and then Start?

I will agree that WASD is poorly implemented in L2. There's a million other games where it's a lot more fluid and accurate to use than it is here.

no it was up up, down down, left right, right left, square
That first one was for NES Contra XD
