I appreciate NCNA's wish to protect themselves and players with their current credit card policy. However, given the new services, maybe it's time to adjust them?
I mean let's think about this: if one person with just one account, albeit with characters on 3 servers under that account, wanted to order gender/ server transfer/name change on on all servers, he or she would be s.o.l. They'd have to wait until the following billing cycle to purchase all of the account services. Madness!
I don't recall how many times you can use the same card for accounts (nagging number in my head is either 3 or 5), but whatever the number is, clearly it's too few. It appears that many of your loyal subscribers are being stifled by this policy. Time to change it.
Here's a thought: leave the CC account restriction for activating and renewing monthly subscriptions, but remove the requirement for in-game services. Or is that too sophisticated for your current payment system?
Finally, it would be great to get a resolution before the Monday holiday. I realize that many of us come across as impatient, but please remember that waiting benefits you at NCNA, not us. After all we are on a monthly timeclock here, before we have to renew and your delays short-change us. I have a feeling it will be ghosts running the show with everyone on holiday Monday, which means that we will have to wait until the NEXT server downtime February 26 to transfer. That would be a shame.
As for everyone who is having a problem with CC allowance, I have two suggestions:
I. Purchase a giftcard -- Visa, Amex, Mastercard, etc. You can buy them just about anywhere these days, but I suggest getting them at your bank, since you can load the amounts that you need there. And don't forget that L2 account services are taxed, so getting only a $50 giftcard to use for a server transfer (for example) won't help you. You'll need at least $60. Also, if you buy the pre-loaded card from the store, don't forget to register/activate it. It might take an hour or two, but it will eventually work.
II. Another solution is Paypal, which offers a plug-in service that will randomly generate a safe credit card number for you to use online. You must be a verified member to use this service (meaning your bank account must be linked to your Paypal account).
I'm sure there are other work-arounds out there, but I only feel comfortable suggesting the above as safe alternatives. But hopefully NCSoft will provide us with a solution of their own and SOON.
