Although I do agree it would be nice to see some sort of statistic, although I am not going to hold my breath, last time I tried that I passed out and fell face first on my keyboard. My boss has warned me that I can not break any more keyboards.
Wonder how many accts the SQL script has to go through in total to check if the player is being transfered or not. Quite alot has to have built up over the past 3 or 4 years

This week's regular maintenance period is being extended further due to the account service processes taking longer than originally anticipated, and the sheer volume of the initial services purchased. We do not currently have an ETA, but we will be monitoring the account service process progress closely. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and will keep you updated on the status of this extended downtime.

Mybe transfer is more complicated then we thinked?
For example balancing things a bit - for each item transfered with character they have to redo loot drop table making that item harder to drop.

yes maybe thats it, now drop chance of +8 drac bow /focus will be lower^^
Well, the number of transfers was NOT a surprise... since you had to apply and pay for the services, they had the information at their fingertips... so they had to be aware of how long it would take. Not only that, all they had to do was read the boards and see how many people were going to transfer...
And remember... this has been delayed from CT1 update because they were perfecting the process... so that this wouldn't happen. And yet it has. So yeah, it is frustrating for everyone involved. Those applying the transfers, and those who are waiting for the servers to come up.
All they had to do was to introduce a quota of transfers that they would perform in each maintenance. As soon as that limit is reached you give the new people applying a date of next week. This would be preferrable to making everybody wait just because some people want to transfer. After all, this was in testing for ages so why the big surprise at how long it takes?
Ok, I figured out the reason for the delay:-
The database updates failed, so the GMs are having to manually XP each of the characters up to the levels on the originating server.
(for my toons that wont take long ;) - hehe no i'm staying put)
February 19, 2008Server Transfer Update, and New European Server Announcement
The server transfers to Teon and Franz this week have been so popular that the activity has put both servers near their maximum player capacity. We regret to announce that we will be suspending both of these servers as available transfer locations for the time being. (All server transfer purchases to Teon and Franz that were made prior to 5:30 PM Central Time today will go through.) Please keep in mind that this does not necessarily mean that Teon and Franz will be forever closed off to transfers. This also doesnt affect the gender change, name change, and character server transfer services on and to the rest of our servers.
It is very important to us that the current Teon and Franz communities have the best possible experience. We also understand the need and desire for our European players to be able to play on a European server. We will be closely monitoring the server performance on Teon and Franz to evaluate whether they can handle more players and how soon we can reactivate the transfers to them again.
We also have some exciting news to announce! Last week, we mentioned that we were currently discussing the possibilities of a new European server. The players on Teon and Franz and the rest of our European player community made it very clear to us that there is a great need for a new European server. We listened to you feedback, and have made that a priority. We're very happy to announce that this decision has been finalized, and the new European server will be coming this year! We will continue to strive for the best experience possible for our Lineage II community.
I inquired whether we would be sharing any server transfer figures. We do have a policy (as most MMO companies do these days) not to display server population numbers. The same goes for our server transfers. I will see if I can compile some sort of a percentage of growth, or percentage of players who used the account services etc., but I won't be able to provide any exact numbers.

a percentage change on each server on average would be decent enough based on the Siege time one week before and one week after the transfer etc i think would be a good indicator :>

Unlike some, I don't give two hoots about #'s--that's for you all to worry about.
They will just fuel more idiotic posts of advice on what to do with someone else's server, anyway.
I want names.
You've built a service to encourage Eula violations and wash the toons clean through the transfer. Those inclined can now buy the 76+ powerleveled toon on "light" server (where everyone would know it was purchased) and presto-chango for $50 the toon is 100% legit on another server.
The remedy to that is to list server transfer account names the same as you did for name changes.
Or even just list the names that got changed in the process. As it is now, it's potentially *boom* new identity. At least if they keep the same name, it's traceable if you're willing to ask around a little. But ideally, yeah, I'd like to see a full list of who transferred where.
In fact, there is no guarantee in the Eula for in-game privacy.
I don't see why as an added deterent NCSoft doesn't routinely post the names of those banned for botting, ebaying, and such.
Through the course of play clanmates and acquaintences come to know each other a bit. Why not add a factor of mild humiliation to the punishment for those caught?
Post it.
"xXDeathXx" (Lionna) banned 2/25/08--Eula Violation (3rd party program use)
and so on.
The TOON "xXDeathXx" in this example has no expectation of privacy. And the player behind it will know that some folks in game know that "Joe Smith" was the guy running "xXDeathXx"--and also that he has a second account with his main there named "rupert" (for when he transfers rupert to another server).
You shouldn't keep allowing Eula violations to be some secret. the more light you shine on it the better. I'm not naive enough to think this will matter to everyone caught--but it will matter to some of them.

This would be fine IMHO. Thanks for trying Alyra.
