missing adena

We are in need of some GM action (fast please)
We made an agreement with another clan that left Gustin to buy their CH.
In that matter we had to sell our own.

Our own clanhall was set for sale the day before downtime, and in a such matter that with a 3h downtime we would still have 2 hours to clean clan warehouse of adena to be able to get the adena from the Clan hall we sold.
Now heres the part where NC ****ed up :
Server goes down (for 3 hours as said) but bam something goes wrong for NC and it takes 8h instead.
We on that matter didnt get to empty our clan vault of adena and our clanhall was sold.
So when we are able to log in we encounter that our clan hall is sold but we didnt receive the adena we were supposed to, and if that wasnt enough we also got ripped of the adena we had in our clan vault prior to the downtime.
We allready petitioned this but as always with the GMs all we can do is sit tight and wait xx days untill we get a solution.
We have an upcomming siege week-and and cant really wait xx days before some GM feels like looking into the matter.

Could some GM please look into the matter asap, as its not our fault that NC decided to spend 8h on a downtime instead of a 3h downtime as originally planned.
Just pm HGMSpam or Alyra here, these public posts seldom help. Or mail support. Hope you've done that already since the ingame Petitions do jack [censored].
Petition and wait for the F2
"Thank you for submitting your petition... bla bla bla..."

anyway.. good luck, but I think you are screwed..
You need to petition this problem via the support page in this site, not to in-game GMs (which are non-existent anyway).
Also try to pm HGMspam via the forum, as suggested above.

But I bet the response will be something like "you've done it at your own risk... it was your responsibility to withdraw the adena from clan warehouse before the server maintenance etc etc etc"

so gl :(
That is a big problem but why didn't you just remove it a day earlier? I'm not trying to be a [censored] but it seems a lot of people are waiting for the absolute last second to do the littlest things and then complain when something bad happens. I'm sure you could've taken the adena out the night before and tossed it in your private warehouse just as easily. Just my 2 cents.
hmm well not my fault that NC decided to extend their downtime by 8h.

Anyone who was paying just the slightest amount of attention knew it wouldn't be a normal maintenance day.

There are morons who will take a day off from work/school to play the day of a new chronicle. Then get ****** when it takes all day to get the servers back up.

Did you really think it would be a 2 hour maintenance? Seriously?
well it is your fault if you are clan leader. if you have played the game for any length of time at all you know how unreliable new services/chronicles/updates can be, totally your fault for not cleaning out your wh well in advance. good luck with getting it resolved but i have to agree with previous posts i think you are screwed...
Maybe Nostrova's fault was that expected more reliability from NC regarding the down-time, but as far as that.

Nostrova, pm HGMspam ASAP.
The clan wh isnt actually located inside a clan hall is it?

I fail to see how the money got lost. U can access clan wh from any warehouse keeper.

Exactley what I was thinking. I don't get the complaint. The only link between CH and CWH is the automated withraw of upkeep patments.

Ok after reading it again I think I understand what you are trying to say. Is there still a limit on the amount of adena that can be stored in the CWH? If so did selling the CH put you ever the limit? If so it should have been removed before the down time. Not and NCSoft mistake its your clan leaders mistake.

Good luck getting the money back, seriously I hope you can recover the Adena. Loosing that kinda Adena can drive people to quit and thats not good.
I think he means he had the max amount of adena (2b) in cwh and had to withdraw 1b or something to make room for the incoming payment , and wasnt able to so the payment for the ch just got lost
KK I read this post not making any sense. or Iam not reading it right , but anyway I under stand it this .... His hall was for auction it sold, fine .. so why didnt he get his money while the sever was down ..... you dont loose any thing in clan w/h when a Hall is sold. or tranfered to other clan leaders there no way they got you money and the hall. it not your money in the auction purchase it's the ones buying it .. you cant place bid on auction unless those funds are in the purchasing clan w/h .. Once bid is placed the money is removed from the clans w/h -10% fee for (what ever reason)while the auction is under way on your hall. So either you sold your hall for some realy low price. or NC-soft software ate your payment and the 10% non refundable fee.

How you say you lost funds in your clan w/h i see was impossible , your weekly maintance few's will always be deducted during normal maintance time frame . I have yet to every loose any funds had my hall sense 7 th day of c-4... we have had many issues in the mean time and never had any funds missing. ... if the people that bougth your hall aint talking to you . then maybe they found way to pull fast one over the purchase of the hall. realy try consult customer service..
When you sell a clan hall your money gets placesd nside your clan wh.

Simply the money in clan wh + money from clan hall sale was too much, so it looped... to a minumum ammount.

What is it hard to understand?

Well whoopee doo for you and your crystal [censored] ball. No advanced warning of an 8 hour extension was given by NCNA so the OP had every right to expect a normal downtime and not to be shafted by the extension.

Last time I checked it wasn't a requirement of playing L2 to sit on these boards and read countless posts about server transfers and then try to guess at the ineptitude of the transfer process/staff.

Argue all you want but if no warning is given then any opinion on extended downtime is purely a guess and players/clans should not lose large sums of money by not being able to guess correctly. This isn't an online casino after all.

Warning is rarely given for an extended downtime. You have to assume it can happen. You're an idiot if you thought this maintenance would be 2 hours.

It doesn't take camping the boards to know that the very first attempt at server transfers was going to be a cluster-[censored] both because of the fact it hasn't been done here before and the sheer number of players transfering.

Ever try flying on Thanksgiving? I don't have to have a crystal ball to know it's going to be painfully slow to get through the airport.

It wasn't a secret that server transfers were happening on that day. wasn't a secret that they were very popular, tons of people announced they left X server and headed to Y.
Doesn't take much brainpower to figure out that since it's a new thing that hasn't been done before by the maintenance crew it will most likely take (much) longer than a normal maintenance.

Why could you not have removed the adena before the downtime? What stopped you from doing that?
Now that I see this OP--I think I might be missing 2 billion adena on a couple toons too!

If I didn't have that much, the bigger point is that I might have had that much--so I'd like to have 2 billion adena added to my toon, too.

Tyvm :)
I know its easy to place blame on the clan leader for not being proactive, but god forbid ncsoft actually writes some code that has even the slightest amount of efficiency to it. Copying up to a million records from one database to another shouldnt take longer than 10 min. So please tell me how it is reasonable that it would take ncsoft FIVE extra hours to do this? I mean come on... we are talking about a few thousand rows MAX.

Not only that, but its the lazyness in programming that puts the limitations on the amount of any one item that you can have in your inventory / warehouse / on your pet / where ever you feel like. There would be no point to punishing a player for a BUG in the game.

Ever try flying on Thanksgiving? I don't have to have a crystal ball to know it's going to be painfully slow to get through the airport.

And how did you know that? Had someone told you before? Had you experienced it yourself before or maybe seen reports of horrendous queues on the TV?

Fact is that no-one had experienced NCNA performing character transfers before and, as such, any thoughts of an extended downtime, particularly such a long extension, were pure supposition. Maybe the OP had faith in NCNA performing all the transfers in the 2 hour slot. NCNA certainly knew how many they needed to do and, as we were informed by Ornery, had extensively tested these transfers to ensure that they worked. So how did they not see the "slight" extension to maintenance of 800%? After all, they had the details of what needed to be done to the databases, not us.

The facts remain that the OP has lost money through no fault of his own and deserves the situation to be rectified very quickly. Anyone who can't see that is a complete moron, not just an idiot.

Here's one last thing for you. If you knew that travelling through an airport on Thanksgiving was going to result in you having access to your bank funds removed and your house taken away you wouldn't do it would you? There, your analogy now fits the situation far better.

I'm sorry, but assuming everything will be the same as always when they suddenly have a load of extra work to do, is just idiotic.
They tested if it worked. They probably didn't test how long it would take to transfer 1000 characters. And maybe they ran into some problems because of the high number.

That is what your logic sense SHOULD tell you each time the server goes down for maintenance, if there's something new being done during it, things are almost bound to go wrong.

And there is no good excuse to not get the adena out of the clan WH before downtime, none at all. If you had the inventory available after DT, you had it before DT as well.

Any ETA set by anyone is usually optimistic, under ideal circumstances with nothing going wrong. And that is often the least likely scenario.

And the Thanksgiving thing. I don't live in a country that celebrates it, Never heard about it being insane in the news. And even i can figure out that an event where people travel to meet up with their families, all at the same time. A lot of plane tickets will be bought.

It's a combination of logic and common sense. It's unlikely that they would have held the 2hour ETA, extremely unlikely.

let me just point out again

The facts remain that the OP has lost money through no fault of his own and deserves the situation to be rectified very quickly. Anyone who can't see that is a complete moron, not just an idiot.

The fact remains, He didn't think ahead, and lost his adena because of it. his own fault for not thinking things through.
Anyone who can not figure out that server transfer downtime will take longer than normal downtime and the first one will probably go wrong is a complete moron, not just an idiot, and deserves to lose the 2bil.

LOL, what you think it is one SQL select * statment and copy to a new table. I bet not. My only issue is they had to know the transactions per sec and the number of transactions it took to move a single person from server a to server b. That should have given them some type of insight to the total time it would take for the move. I am willing to bet the real issue was they never knew what the real time to move an account was and therefor could not have forseen such a large time window being needed.

I would also say that by looking in from the outside, the fact they had to stop the transfer to the two euro servers meant they really didn't have a pre check in place to understand the vast numbers ahead of time, so the backing out of those transactions had to take place or they hit an error condition and go back in to see what was the issue.

The fact remains, He didn't think ahead, and lost his adena because of it. his own fault for not thinking things through.

So, by your logic, NCNA employees complete morons? After all, the "unexpected" extension suggests that they didn't figure out that it would take longer.

Not very nice slagging off the company that provides this game. I'm sure they are doing their best after all. But that would explain the lack of warning and thus entitle the OP to full reimbursement.

LOL, what you think it is one SQL select * statment and copy to a new table. I bet not.

Not 1. I would assume that there are only a few character specific tables (5-6). You are only looking at a few thousand records being moved though. If it is taking them 5 hrs to do this, then they have some major indexing issues.

I do agree that they should have known ahead of time how much time it would take. Shouldn't that be part of the testing process?

I'm not saying anything bad about them. you are.
If you played a lot of mmo's you'll know that all companies will give you their best possible ETA for when everything works right. And then add extra delays ontop of that.
And even if you say it's NC's fault that the adena disappeared, then they don't have to give anything back, adena has no real-life value(to them).

Sucks to be the OP, but it's more of their own fault than NC's

I'm not saying anything bad about them. you are.

The application of your "logic" contradicts you.

If you played a lot of mmo's

How do you know that I don't? Or is this just another fact that you've managed to pull out of the ether?

I never said they had to, I simply said that they should.

Heaven forbid that he/she should expect to not lose out on 2 billion adena (or whatever the amount was) while a server is down, something completely out of his/her control.

No, I never said anything about whether or not the NCNA employees were morons. First of all I doubt the same people do both the transferring and reporting ETA on the website. And even then they probably already knew it would take much longer than the suggested downtime, but as i said, all game's do the same thing, report the best ETA they get, it makes their service look better.

If you played a lot of mmo's

How do you know that I don't? Or is this just another fact that you've managed to pull out of the ether?

I didn't mean you personally, mean "you" as the reader, whoever it might be, not accusing anybody of playing too few/many, I have no idea what you played apart form Lineage

And even if you say it's NC's fault that the adena disappeared, then they don't have to give anything back, adena has no real-life value(to them).

I never said they had to, I simply said that they should.

I didn't say whether they should or shouldn't, not that my opinion will have any influence on whether or not they do. I just said that they didn't have to. And at the same time that the OP was sort of responsible himself, for lack of foresight.

Sucks to be the OP, but it's more of their own fault than NC's

Heaven forbid that he/she should expect to not lose out on 2 billion adena (or whatever the amount was) while a server is down, something completely out of his/her control.

The server being down is out of his control, yes. But the time that he decides to remove the adena in the clan warehouse is completely up to him, He chose a narrow window of 3 hours, right before it would be sold, those 3 hours being right after the downtime(at perfect conditions). I'm just saying it was a stupid decision to wait till the very last minute, It wouldn't have affected anyone if he had done it a day before. Could even leave 5mil or so in there to secure the clanhall functions for the last day.
Jeez, you took the OP's misfortune (his fault or not) and tunred it into a sling fest. wow.

Jeez, you took the OP's misfortune (his fault or not) and tunred it into a sling fest. wow.

We did and we will never agree on this. That is blatantly obvious. I think this dead horse (well, dead to all but the OP and his clan) is well and truly flogged. With any luck though, he got his adena back by the bottom of page one. :)
