Um....I bought my second account a day and half ago....so yea....I love this game!!!!!
People on this game are great to, that is what makes this game so much better than all the others.
Unless you are on the most populated servers (where you still wont find party cause everyone is top lvl) that is not a bad idea if you want to keep lvling with support.
I on the other hand like to torture myself by not using a box acc, cause I still deep inside somewhere believe that one day nc will merge the servers and live support (and other players in general) will exist in all lvl ranges :p
I'm glad that new players come and post here on the forums too!
I know there are many players still who just started the game but they stay in the quiet :>
I don't know, "I love this game I use a buffbox the 2nd month" sounds contradictory to me. Another smart guy told him he couldn't play without I assume...
Buffers/healers that go afk etc is annoying. I own 4 comps and 5 accounts so I can play when I want to, not when the support players feel like it. And I still enjoy the game, probably more than the guy shouting LFG for a few hours before getting a group.
I will take live support over boxed support problem is LFG dont happen at upper levels. So if you dont have support in your clan you need to make it yourself
Slycutter : you don't see support classes LFG at upper levels? What do you call upper level? What server are you on?
Sorry, but it's not a rubbish excuse. And even if its an old excuse, that doesn't make it less valid. Try playing a non-support char over lvl 6x or 7x. Preferrably a light or robe user, that would actually need their supportive healer actively doing something.
Ironically I'm not the one that needs excuses, I'm perfectly capable to play this game whenever I want to.
U however need a party that acutally require heals, which probably just leaves raid parties and aoe parties. Judging by your sig its pretty obvious u havent run into the problem most singlebox DD's have. All your non-support chars would still get newbie-buffs.
Next time you go exp with one of them, skip the newbie buffs and shout for support players.
As u are on Teon u might get lucky and actually find one (6k or more player base?). If i tried that on Gustin I would spend 3 hours just sitting around doing nothing...
What are you talking about? You think support are picked up at login?
I regularily spend 30mins - 1h before getting a group.
And again I said "Buffers/healers that go afk etc is annoying" is rubbish. I never said that anyone could solo finger in the nose. But you're too selfish to think outside the box. Pertinent expression, isn't it?
I usually spend 3 minutes logging in, and 2 mins or so asking if anyone needs a party. Then im off xping.
I can trust my healers to heal me when needed,. coz I click the heal macro myself. Play your non-support char and have a healer that went afk without telling u, and see if that aint annoying. Have it happen multiple times and then come back and say my excuse is rubbish.
I'm trying to tell u why some ppl dual/triple box.
I usually try to party similar lvl support chars if there is one looking for party, even if I have my own higher lvl same class buffer along, it is after all an MMO-game. But most of L2 seems heavily based on clans now, so I would rather add a clannie (no matter what class) than a non-clan support char.
If you as bishop dont get a party fairly soon after login, u might be in the wrong clan. Bishops need pvp clans that acknowledge them for being the best pvp healer in the game, and add them to parties to get them higher lvl for future pvp. If u are in a pve-clan you are sadly misplaced. A pve-clan that doesnt AOE/raid has no use for you.
Bishops need pvp clans that acknowledge them for being the best pvp healer in the game,
For "pvp clans" the best pvp healer is CP pot.
LOL I would take a live bishop over CP pots anyday. CP pots have thier place and are extreamly usefull but I would rather have someone running a bishop. Of course that means someone who has played a bishop and knows what they are doing.
As for the arguement about support classes. There are very few support classes that are mains compaired to boxed support classes. THe higher in lvl you get the more you will see and the easier it is to tell who was/is boxed and who playes one as a main.

Careful, you know you're soon going to need a PP,BD, and SE.
Smitie, so you don't have the need to go to toilet, eat something, when you are sitting for long hours before the computer screen, etc. Yes, sure. And nobody never calls you? I wouldn't like to be a robot like you, no thanks.
I will play my 1 account as a support class too. If I can't find party, I can always fish (and make money) or play alt (soloing him).
The question "to have a boxed buffer/healer or not to have" seems like a vicious circle to me. Active healers/buffers complain, and very rightly so, they are not needed because people boxed their own, and those who box complain, again very rightly so, that they are not many of them around or/and they don't do their job right. Both of these excuses are correct, in my opinion.
From my experience, very few healers are good at what they do -- and these are irreplaceable, worth-waiting an hour to get them. As for the rest, they usually join a group, heal a bit and do other real life stuff at the same time. I have died in raids because the Bishop was talking on the phone; I have died in Catas because the EE was doing her homework; I have died out in the open field because the SE was chatting in-game with a friend; I have died in the rift because the Bishop... honestly I don't know where he was or what he was doing... ><
I don't mind players doing other stuff as long as they let you know about it. But I do mind players who join a group and don't pay attention to what's going on. I still haven't a boxed healer but there have been far too many times I wished I had had one.
I'm another one with 5 (well 6 now) accounts and 4 PCs. I couldn't give a monkey's chuff whether someone likes me boxing a buffer and a healer or not. They are MY characters, I pay for them and I created them because there was a shortage of live players at the time. Do I invite other players to group with me? Yes. Am I often asked by a buffer or healer? No.
I have every sympathy for people who are trying to play these classes now but you are only suffering due to the shortage of them in the past. Nobody likes to see their class reduced to an auto-follow, OOP pet but people needed to XP in the most efficient manner so the boxed-buffer/healer was born. Don't blame people for wanting to play a game (that they pay for) when THEY want to play, not when some healer or buffer sees fit to log in.
Besides which, my buffers and healers are every bit important to me as my main so if they can XP at the same time then I'm going to do it.

Well welcome to lineage man :) Ya if you doing a buffer its a good idea if you can (if not thats no drama either) - its a long term game and it really helps to be able to hunt really well whenever suits you. Of course partying with RL buffers is more fun when thats available.
This is a dman awesome game and I think I've always loved it cause its different to all the US MMO's in how it feels and plays. I dont mean game concepts here so much I mean game mechanics. Its solid, gritty, hard...more long term. Feels more valued and hence more rewarding, even if the levels do take alot of patience to reach. All the better.
I didnt play beta but I've been playing since prelude btw - still love it.

Same here I love my Box SE and when I can't use that when my Cousin is playing I have my WC and Wolf so I level when I'm ready to level and I do it for as long as I want.
I started in Beta with an SH so solo was fine but later I tryed other classes and found I needed a buffer for when I'm ready 2 hunt.
Sometimes I feel sorry for the Person LFG and Invite them........sometimes :D

I have to say that I'm also in agreement.
though I am currently in a Clan with a Clan hall I do have a second account with a buffer "just in case" we lose the clan hall.
However, I've never been able to wait in town and find support players. In my earlier time of L2 (and as this is my first mmo) I would try to look for players but more often than not I would wait too long and just log out and do something else.
To be able to log in and then go do what I want is invaluable as I consider my time valuable.
This is not to say that I won't party a suport person. But what I've ended up discovering is that they will want to maximize the xp and we end up traveling around, looking for a place that is satisfactory. Only to have them go a few rounds and then need to log. Then I go back to my original place to find it was taken.
I love playing my bish so far (I'm only 44, I know :), I have never had a problem finding a party even at such low level, especially when it comes to raids.
Now, I'm curious about something and that is when people say things like "healers who know what they are doing", etc. What exactly do they mean by that? And don't go into things like healers going afk without warning or doing a gazillion other things and not healing, cuz all these are common sense reasons to get annoyed at someone and I get that. When I heal I'm never just healing, I root (can't trance yet) or go at the mobs with my duals. So aside from the obvious potential multi-tasking hazards, what do you mean when you say "those healers who know what they are doing?" Just curious :)
Edit: Once u get trance, don't ever root again as a bishop. If u did that in party with me I would scold u. If u did it again I would kick u.
:p How strict! Thanks for explaining, you do make sense. I usually root only when I duo with my TH partner. We don't use shots so sometimes rooting is needed for crowd control when he pulls more than enough :) It actually saves me mana that I would have otherwise used up by healing him more while he's getting schooled by too many mobs. I realize that in a large party this would have been just a waste of mp.
I only run out of mp during raids when some idiot keeps hitting the mob after aggroing him away from the tank. I have a macro that tells them to stop hitting, lol. But since I'm only 44 a lot of my raiding has been done with new comers to the game who have not figured out the mechanics of raiding. I know I prolly should let them die and learn their lesson the hard way but I'm a soft squishy, what can I do, hehe.
The incompetent supports must be the ones who are leveling a dualbox to match main's level.
And the same can be said from DD. Breaking mobs under Trance, not assisting MA, going afk in the middle of a pull, etc.
There are bad players in every class.
To be able to log in and then go do what I want is invaluable as I consider my time valuable.
And this is a luxury for most supports. So show some respect and don't accuse them of playing bad because it happened to you once or twice.
And in order to level a SH "solo", you only need a boxed SE, not 4 or 5 accounts.

I dont understand what you mean by incompetent supports lvling a dual box to match mains lvl, care to rephrase that so we know what you actually mean by it? I lvl my dualboxes so they have better buffs, more hp/mp etc. Not to match my mains lvl.
The bishop I was talking to asked me to explain what ppl meant by a statement, and therefore I explained.
Ofc there are bad DD's too, and they do exactly the things u said. Those players I scold and heal, and if they do it more I tell them I wont bother healing them if they cant even do an easy task like assisting. After final warning they no longer recieve heals. Most of them get their act together after the first SE-rez.
And I dont think we are accusing every support class out there of being bad players just coz we dual/triple/etc-box. Some of us even party other support characters even tho we box one of them.
SH can technically "solo" without even a boxed SE, at least to 75, not something I would recommend tho.
I have 5 accounts coz I want my different support chars on different accounts (after I messed up the first time and made PP/SWS/BD/OL all on the same account >.<)
What Washtak means is players that are playing/lvling a support class in order to use them as a buffpet once that support class has reached the same lvl of their main with whom they will box. They don't really play the class, just do their best to powerlevel the soon to be box and thus, never become proficient at playing it. Of course, the few TRUE live support classes out there don't get any practice either, since they can rarely get a party and are forced to solo since everyone else boxes.
It's a major reason I stopped helping support classes these days, as that seems to be the end goal of all the current low lvl "live" ones. Why help these would-be boxes who will only make my class even more obsolete.
And I LAUGH at the constant argument of "I'll always take a live player over my box". LIES or fairly untrue and rare at least.
I had bad experience as healer for a level 2x raid boss...
I was with duals in light armor when I got invited, I ran out of mana quickly, then I went back in mithril set but they started attacking before I could get full mana and the party wiped again.
I'm far from being a perfect healer since I solo too much but some patience may help lol.
The party can help saving mana greatly with various skills, for instance stun can buy time for a healer to cast normal heal instead of battle heal.
If the tank (and other dds for the occasional aggro switch) uses normal heal pots one after another and the occasional elixir of hp and mana, below 40 it will be easy to raid. Also the healer(s) can have some mp elixiris ready for extra backup.
If noone affords pots or shots or elixirs.. well, it's a lot more difficult and risky.
When I did noobie raids (if you don't count the ones over 40), I ran out of mana only once. What really helped is having 2 healers in party, or 1 healer and 1 se to help heal and recharge. With that set up we always made it. I don't remember our tanks using that many hp pots.
Healers should never battleheal in a raid, the tank never takes that much dmg (if its a real tank that is).
Ha! You must have taken part in perfect raids only if you say that tank shouldn't take that much damage. That's what I thought until I did King Timak with 3 parties. We had 3 healers in our tank/healer party (tank was a SK) and we could barely keep up. We had an oop live prophet and a recharger so i'd say we were prepared but man, that tank got a beating from the rb! I know the tank to be very experienced and not sure he could have done anything differently/better (xept mebbe to buy some uber OEd armor :D). Some bosses are just tough, I guess.

Yes that's what I mean. Thank you for rephrasing, I'm not native English.

Sorry but this made me LOL. If you are boxing an SE your NOT lvling your SH solo.
Solo means 1 toon not one person controling two or more toons. I lvl'd my Sps solo 60% of the time. I only say 60 % because ince lvl 64 I have had acccess to clan hall buffs and herbs. With the addition of herbs 90% of the time I can solo in FOD for an entire buff round without stoping. Which is way better than before.
Healers should never battleheal in a raid, the tank never takes that much dmg (if its a real tank that is).

Im not sure, but i think that one might have reflect dmg. Try next time to use a TK for tank and have him just use aggression and run around. Archers and mages for dmg.
It's a tough one tho, back in the day when I lvled up my EE doing raids every day, we always had trouble with that one. He has a ton of hp. Solo raid bosses tend to hit harder than the ones with minions too.
