Anyone mind suggesting some decent quests or grinding areas for a noob SH?
My Spellhowler is 42 and over-hitting everything in the forest around IT. She's still in D jewels but has Karmian and an Acumen Homunkulus. She's still leveling like mad (the boxed SE just getting Recharge helps a LOT) but I was just curious if anyone knew of some decent or suggested quests for her near future. I heard something about a quest around Floran or somesuch to get C jewelry.
And the general consensus is +4 WIT/INT/CON, -8 MEN, -4 STR for tattoos, right?
Are you saying the over-hit takes away from the SP you would get by killing the mob with another skill or that you shouldn't waste the over-hit which allows you to level faster without the SP need for new skills?
How often do you die? :P
nah, I myself also select skills to learn and wich ones to leave for another time or to leave till the end of ages :P
(cure Poison?, I have Purify :P)
I wont tell people how they must play, it's just my advice not to overhit all mobs you come across ^^
Have fun playing your class the way you find best ;)

I rarely die.
I just have yet to run into any problem whatsoever by using the overhit. I still think they will have no issues with skills. At least being able to max out important skills.
It's nice to be a class that can skip out on certain skills. But if you party with an SE/EE that doesn't die a lot, they will likely be a little short on SP, if you overhit a lot. I know I was. The SH I leveled with most of the time was addicted to overhits, and I paid the price :p
Over hitting is not a bad thing. There is no negative to getting extra experience points when you grind, no matter which why you try to spin it. I really dont understand why so many people feel over hitting is not a benefit. Just take a minute and think about it, you could get extra XP with the same amount of time and mana has someone not over hitting.
If you manage your SP properly you will get the skills you need when you level. You can get the others at a later date. Most of the skills are a waste of sp anyway.
I don't post here often but I do read, So thought I'd Chime in. I will agree with Dracha. Being a 77 Sts, I've had no issues with my SP when I need them, infact I have had extra SP most the time till lvl 75, and I lived off overhitting for faster lvling. And I didn't notice if anyone answered the Tat question for Gokuryuuha, you should have +4Wit/+4Int/+4Con ..-8Men/-4Str. That is what I have always run with.
I was referring to SHs when I said it's nice to be a class that can skip out on certain skills. SEs need pretty much all skills they get. They don't get much of the extra fluff. Of course you can wait a bit with getting some of the skills, but I prefer to have my xp match my sp. It's all about personal preference. There are no facts here, other than you fall behind on SP by overhitting. Then you decide if it's a problem or not. I'm just speaking from my experience as an SE, and I was always short. Especially when they added new skills in C5. I still don't have all the skills (speaking about levels below 76, naturally I had to pick and choose at 76+), but that's because I don't xp her anymore.
So I haven't had an overage of available time to play in the last week but have squeezed in a couple buff rounds each night on my SH with boxed SE.
-I took the advice of other SE players and am overhitting far less.
-I managed to get +4 INT/WIT/CON, -8 MEN, -5 STR tattoos (and by god, I'm never going back).
-My +5 Acumen Homunkulus is serving me quite well.
My question this time is: How preferrable are Demon Robes to Karmian?
I know DE need the cast speed help and SEs don't get Acumen (at least not for a while) but I can't help but think that Demon Robes would make my damage output more ridiculous (I love my 37 Assassin but there's no turning back from two-shotting). Is the money I'd spend on Magic Haste Potions worth the extra 4 INT that'd have me blazing through Pavel Ruins at lvl 46 worth it?
Also, I keep reading about how much more helpful an EE is (though not until 58 and Clarity) than an SE. Is it recommended to box the EE up to 58 and keep an SE OOP?
An SE can give you EMP, making your nukes stronger. An EE can give you Clarity, so you don't need to be recharged as often. But an SE will be able to keep up with your recharging perfectly fine, and you will have a stronger nuke. For an SH, go SE for boxing, not EE. (The situation might be reversed for a SpellSinger, but that's academic.)
Sps needs both to go nonstop for a longer period of time. SH doesn't even need a recharger if you hunt in a herb zone, some heals and regular use of body to mind is enough. Sure, recharges probably make you kill 'faster', but personally I have more problems with not having enough mobs to kill...
@Goku, reading your post I get the impression that you wouldn't be using magic haste potions with karmian robes, is that right? Even if you use karmian robes, for gods sake use magic haste potions too :)
Makes sense for the SpSs. Thanks for the clarification.
Considering the fact that I'm the one asking for help and you're the one with a StS, I hate to sound ungrateful for the advice but am curious as to why I need to use MHPs. Things are lucky if they even get a hit on me (unless, of course, I aggro 3+ mobs at a time). I can see the use of using MHP in cats or necros but 2-shotting everything that I'm currently hunting leaves little use for any more casting speed.
Yes, I'm one of those people that will kill 2-3 mobs and go pick things up... u_u
Well more casting speed is always good. It lets your skills refresh faster. This will be much valuable once you start to do CDL nuking. With the very much improved magic fail rate, you will need your skills to cast and refresh faster as much as they can.
There was also a discussion about Demon and Karmian Robes, and one poster said that Karmian is better, if you can two-hit mobs in both Karmian or Demon. The reason is that you can kill things faster with faster casting speed and skill refresh letting you do B2M more often which then translates to greater XP over Time. This is true in spots with high respawn rate.
My SH is currently 64, i've been hunting in Valley of Saints since 58. And since 60 i've been CDL nuking the mobs. It's pretty addicting once you get the hang of it :). It's one-hit fest all over again.
You should be able to level with Karmian. I used Karmian instead of Demon. I just couldn't take the slow casting speed with demon. It drove me nuts. Now, keep in mind, this was before Weapons SA's and casting speed potions.
So Goku's 48 now and two-shotting Hunter Gargoyles and the Oel Mahum in Outlaw Forest. Any other suggestions for solo grinding areas?
Any suggested quests around Outlaw Forest at this point? I intend to go around one-shotting with CDL @ 52 but am currently working on getting Demon's Gloves because it looks like my 38 SE box is going to be MIA for a while. :(
There's a quest if you go to the dwarf freightman in Oren for the Gargoyles. You collect these coin things and then do bingo. You get small awards like mats and stuff and occassionally the EAC but its worth it :)
That's a completely different quest. I actually still have that quest active, the bat groups in blazing swamp drop those warehousekeeper's medals like crazy. Possible rewards from that quest include full C-grade items too... I have 6 or 7 aquastone rings from that quest and I think also drake leather armor/boots are available from it. Nothing too valuable really, but if you have room for that quest, take it.
SE till 52 for Emp3, EE after (till78+ if possible) got same recharge level, same WM, a better cstspd/mpregen for more recharges and clarity for less mp use.
Also perma overhitting will cause you SP probs at a time or another, specially if you lvled Sleep b4 the nerf of WVortex b4 Spellforce was added (had only SP for a single of the 3 78 skills w/a learing Health or Spellforce).
