Ok I love PvP and just started a DA on my subclass because I like the Dark Panther, but am now 2nd guessing. This is a sub on my DE Storm Screamer, so that eliminates Light Elves. I am torn between the DA and SK, which do you feel is better for PvP? I already have a Glad so no need to go there. I have a little over 300 PvP's on the Storm... So I will PvP with the sub!

Seriously you have a SH main and you wnat a tank for PvP. you should use the tank to support your clan, or to lvl fast.
but lighting strike > panther.

The only two tank classes which really kicked my butt where Paladin and Shilien Knight. If you really want the panther stay with DA, if you don't care about the subclass but wanna have a puss behind you, sub a Warlock. Kai is a much better puss to handle then the Dark Panther.
Personally I would go for Shilien Knight, but that is because of prefer any DE class over all classes. Just depends on what you want. Both Pala/DA/SK are good tanks, DA is a slightly weaker tank then SK, and Pala just is the best arround. SK has a better solo posiblity thanks to the debuffs it can cast and the default higher STR of a Dark Elf.

Ok then what you Subclass then? Should I not subclass just because I have Storm Screamer? I am working toward Noble... Yes if I want to own you I will jump on the main... Thought it might be fun to sub a tank, but want something that can still function in PvP! Mainly against the same class type! Guess I should have spelled it out for you! I wouldn't run around trying to PvP everything with a Pal! :eek:
If third class skills mean anything to you, i would keep the DA sub. SK is solid tank with tons of debuffs and cubic action, but human classes just get the best skills(i hate shield slam).
You said you want to have fun. Go with the DA. Im not sure what server these people are playing, but on Erica, a DA was the dominant pvp'er. Go to blah and look at the videos by dontlookatme. The cubics dont do much in pvp, they simply dont go off enough to make a difference. At end game, the debuffs dont get past the epic jewels. Go DA, get to level 76, enchant the cat, get your FB and a Drac bow. The only prof that will give you trouble is a mage. For that, enchant your armor for protection from what ever nuker is most popular on your server. At 78 check out the skills a DA has and then tell me you want to go with a different tank.

Considering the lvl 81 skills both are uber. So flip a coin.

Maybe by the next chronicle you'll be able to reach 81 on subs too... who knows.
Edit: Who the hell cares they started calling them "thrones" ffs. Chronicles makes more sense anyway, or allow me to call them "major updates" ? or maybe "chapters" ? Anything but "thrones" sounds better... sheesh.
I have a SK lvl 76 and I like so much play with it. But if you are thinking about fast exp to hit nobless only go tank if you have a big and nice clan to help you. Solo any tank is a painfully path.
At PVP all tanks are equals. We are strong against daggers and archers and weak agains nukers, summoners and Destro.
With good buffs, gear and skills enchants a tank have a lot of pvp versatility.
At low populations servers any tank have a hard life.
Another tip: the SK is very hard to play and require a lot of knowlogment and skills. And I never dead for a DA.
But the great job for a tank is at massive pvp where nobody care about us and we can help friends using agression to protect.
If you are thinking about 1x1 pvp don't go to a tank too. We are slow killers.
An equal lvl, buffed, and geared SK can out damage a BD without even applying debuffs. No other tank is capable of the same thing. Not to mention we have the 2nd highest shield block rate, and higher possible pdef than the 2 human tanks.
At 77 SK gets shield bash, which is exactly the same as shield slam. (stun and chance to cancel target and skill cast) Enchanted Lightning Strike = instant win in 1v1, and a great way to take anyone out of action for a LONG time in mass pvp.
The only thing that SK is lacking is a class specific skill at lvl 79 like the human tanks get. However, in the next chronicle we are getting a 4th cubic to make up for that.
Whoever said something about cubics not firing enough hasn't fought an SK since CT1. Our cubics fire at a pretty insane rate now, with DoT damage being raised quite a bit. (certainly a better use of crystals than a 2shot pet)

The answer is--what's the difference? Either way you're in a pretty nice $60,000 luxury sedan!
In many ways a tank is a tank is a tank. Of course there are differences--but none of them are archers, none of them are nukers, and none of them are DD's to the level of say, a tyrant.
Either way you will be a support toon who doesn't deal very much damage. Your role in parties and groups isn't to kill stuff--it's to HOLD mobs and get pounded. All of the tanks can do that.
Unless you are in a good and supportive group of friends/clanmates you are going to level more slowly than any class except a lone healer/buffer.
So it really comes down to what you like the most. Do you like glowie cubics floating around? Do you like self-heal and being able to one-shot undead mobs? Do you like having a glass cannon panther as a partner and being broke?
There ya go--decision.
