the only reason bots are a problem in L2 is cause all lvl spots is open area's, there is very few instances, so they are easily seen, and easily trained (if your a good trainer, takes time to learn).
IF L2 was as full of Instances like WoW, EQ2, etc. You'd probably never know that they where there. How ever thats not the case, its good and its bad. Try not to focus on it, its a losing battle!!
highest population is Bartz, teon, franz, and soon luna, with dev, and hindmith falling a distant back to them.
I wouldn't say that grinding on say Erica is better then grinding on bartz. and the grind doesn't really start till 66, so be prepared for it, and takes breaks from the game if the grind starts to become over whelming.

a lot of bots just forcelog nowadays when they see trains coming, I've had that happen too much lately.

well, your half right. ther ARE server transfers. theres also SORT OF an auction hous,e but players cannot input junk to sell, GMs sell strange crap (like +15 low NG weapons)

As far as the best serve to start on, that is all in opinionated perspective. Kind of a rhetorical question to ask too. Here is some advice. Create a character on each server, try it out, visit the towns. =^_^=

you see them in this game cause it is a open XP zone. you don't see them in WoW, guild wars, many other games cause they have alot, if not all instanced XP zones.

If you are going to play on Luna I would wait a few days after it goes live. Will be less crouded with non-talking newbie toons running around. Search youtube or some other vid sights for vids or pics of Franz the first few days. The starter towns were insane.

That isn't what you said. What you said was: don't play MMOs if bots bother you, and they are a part of all MMOs.
Bots, specifically the software applications they entail, in L2 bother me, because they provide unfair advantages to those that use them. In addition to being able to XP 24/7, many of these applications also offer increased radar range, auto-logout, the ability to see the target's HP, etc. etc. This doesn't even begin to talk about the economic impact of farmers.
This is less true in other MMOs, and, though bots certainly exist, they are all but invisible to other players, and have much less of a negative impact on the game in general (compared to L2).
