In the meantime, there are some servers where it is supposedly the "norm" and some servers where the bots are hated and reviled by all. I don't bot, and neither do most of the other people I know.
Botting is about the same on all the servers really, but yeah on some servers it's a lot more "acceptable" to the populace. Regardless not everyone bots and plenty of people who share your distaste for it.
Of course there are people who bot but it is against the EULA and if you are actually caught an NC believes that you were indeed botting, you will get banned.
Do they actually ban people? Well, from the complaints I've seen on other sites there are people who admit to botting and who actually got banned. I actually know of one as well. Banned. There are also people who claim that they never botted and that NC unjustly accused and banned them.
