Fair for euro/night players to have less drops?

General Discussion Started Last reply 64 posts
Ok, I know I have already made a thread questioning that there as a lower item droprate in off peak times. It appears such is true for ALL drop not just event items, peak times droprates are significantly increased. By peak times I mean roughly 12pm GMt to 8am GMT, 7pm CST to 1am CST.

I am making this new thread as a poll for players to post once either to approve the fact that 'off peak' gamers have significantly less droprate compared to people who play 'peak times', or to disapprove of the lower droprates during 'off peak' times.

Remember that 'RMT' players play 24/7 anyway and will only be encouraged to have more characters running during 'peak times' clogging the servers more for the increased droprate, while legitimate players who cannot play these times lose out significantly.

Please only post once and give a small argument to back up your opinion.

Also please refrain from "it doesn't affect me so I don't care" or "don't like it, then transfer or re-roll" style posts. I want sensible and mature replies.

I hope we can get a large number of good arguments and posts as not many people realise how the droprates work.

Edit: as I want to keep this thread one post only I'dd add stuff here.

I used to play night times alot over holidays and such and would often get drops, when I said in clan most of the european time players complained they'd hardly ever had a good drop, no matter how much they played.

Also for the people who say 'you play an american game deal with it'. firstly not all americans can play peak times. Secondly there were no european servers in the beginning and teon/franz are full and locked from transfer. Thirdly siege/olympiad times are known and don't significantly affect gameplay since people can stay up late a couple of nights a week. Reduced chance of drops puts off peak gamers at a significant disadvantage unfairly.

2nd Edit:

Official responce from customer support when asked if droprate on general world items is based on the time of day you kill the mob.

Thank you for contacting Lineage II E-mail Support.

We thank you for contacting us. In response to your reported issue, we would like to inform you that the drops received from the monsters are server controlled and hence, they become random at certain times. It also depends upon the factor of equilibrium in levels between monsters and a player. Further, there is a factor of probability here, which in scenario of being less, the players shall need to do more of hunting. Moreover, the infliction effect have slightly been brought down in the game since the update of Chronicle 5 to make the GamePlay more realistic. Due to the aforesaid reasons, it might sometimes be difficult for the players to receive the drops. However, upon making strenuous efforts of hunting, this could successfully be achieved. Hence, we suggest you to pursue your hunting for some more time. If you have any other query/issue, kindly contact us with appropriate details. Thanks for your patience and understanding.

If I'd of known this information previously I would have waited for the new european server to transfer to. I can live with siege/olympiad times, NOT droprates.
I'm in for getting rid of drop difference ;)
I have noticed the droprate changes in the 2.5 years I have been on Devianne. It seems more obvious whilst events are running. This bunny drop started for me almost 1:1 mob to item, and fizzled out the next day.

With that said, you have to remember that both you and I chose this server knowing it was on a USA time frame, and is therefore tailored to that market. (I am in England).

Although balancing out the drop rates "across the clock" might seem a good idea, if you think about the problem, whilst the out of peak time players like us would get a slightly better drop rate, the RMT players would also get a better balance, and the peak rate (prime market) players would lose out overall as their peak rate drops are dimished.

As for changing server, I love Devianne, I know the economy, I know the clans, the politics etc. Our clan has members from USA, Canada, Romania, Greece, Sweden, Portugal and Kuwait (sorry if I missed someone) and so we generally always have someone online.

there shouldn't be any difference..
No wonder why I that play on day time (euro) have a hard time getting the spellbooks in frozen labyrint while my friends that plays at night can get dozens of books.

In 8 hours hunting in frozen labyrint I got 2 spellbooks (earth chant and greater might). My friend got 3 greater shield, 5 greater might, 5 warchant and 4 earth chants by hunting there for 8 hours.

Atleast the quest items drops the same (I hope)

I know it is a NA server I play on, but I didn't expect the normal drop/spoil rate would be changing so dramaticly betwenn the gaming zones.

Since this is an international game and servers are open for everyone around the world I would like to see an even drop rate for ALL players no matter time zone or time of the day they play on.

I wouldn't had said anything if they had the same system as in WoW where the US servers where for US players only and EU servers only for EU players.

I won't change server even when the new server (Luna) gets up because I got to many friends on Lionna to just leave...and specialy if Luna will start up like Franz.
Anything that makes it harder for non american players is really unbalanced for the game, especially seeing if you check the connections, 90% of players are NOT american (yes im including bots in that figure)

It is understandable that times for things like sieges, manor, olympiad are set so that they are during prime time for US players when you play on a "US" server. But changing drop rates so that more stuff drops during US prime time is utterly ridiculous - there is absolutely no logical reason at all for it, and it is extremely unfair towards those players (even US players!) who for some reason cannot play during US prime time. It is also unfair because it is a "hidden" game mechanic - euro players who started before Teon was introduced based their decision on whether to move to Teon or not (=reroll there) on the KNOWN differences between the servers. Many of those who did not move did so because they wanted to stay with friends on their current server, and because they could "live with" the siege times.

But if even normal (non-event) drops are nerfed outside prime time, that is something players HAVE TO know, because nobody wants to play on a server where he has only a heavily reduced chance of getting drops. If there ever would be an official confirmation that even standard drops are nerfed outside US prime time, there would be an uproar and a mass exodus from all non-euro servers. The new Luna server would be filled up to the limit immediately and there would be hundreds of threads demanding another one or two euro servers, and it would finally become obvious that about 2/3 of the L2 player base is NOT living in a US timezone.
the times for euro-friendly drop rates are fair on euro servers.

as much as it would be nice to have a 24-7 drop rate for the duration of the event, both you and i know that would be ludicrously market-breaking.

yes, ludicrously. suddenly instead of a bunch of bots with 10k pieces, youve now got 10 bots with 24x that.

srsly lol. thats over a hundred bags of each type, amounting to THOUSANDS of buff potions, nevermind scrolls, and inventory-clogging nonstackable agathion bracelets amid a fortune in S armor.

this event was for people to make SOME cash and have SOME easier play strategy introducing buff cocktails.

it was NOT meant to give everyone 2b.

This isn't JUST the event, it's world item droprate... IE every drop off mobs.

Also with reguards to the event you fail to see the point that why are players who can't play peak times (which is a large portion of the population of the game) penalised in such a massive game mechanic. I guess it's fair for prime time players and RMt players to participate in an event, yet others have to spend 7 hours grinding to get wha they can in an hour. If there were more sacks on the market it wouldn't mean everyone made 'billions' anyway as prices of sacks would go down due to the simple rules of supply/demand.

During 'peak' times there maybe a couple of hundred more players than at any other time. All it encourages is for the RMT players to have more and more of their groups running during peak time to maximise profits.

I'm not asking for constant high droprates all of the time, I just want to be on an equal level as everyone else.
lets put it this way - the ONLY way to catch the off-hours players would be to give 24-7 drop rates.

which in itself is a bad thing.

and no, items drop at all hours of the day regardless of when you play. the event items are the exception.

ive tested it. it works. no difference.
none.

this is by the way, only a game. if your real life has hindered you from playing and you'd rather play the game, then by all means quit your dayjob.

youre a noblesse with 3 subs. youve hit the point in the game where pve and earning money is no longer important. i suggest focus on other things in this game. clearly youve won.
That all drops are slightly worse at certain times has been apparent to me since c3. If it's bad coding or on purpose I have no idea, but I stopped relying on drops then and started using the manor.

If I have to hunt for a particular item I force myself to hunt after midnight (GMT) when they increase the drop rate. I've learned to live with this and it's only during events that I really notice it now.

Quite the contrary, I've come to the state where PvE is boring unless I'm hunting for specific item drops and such. hunting for items and specific drops is more interesting than watching my XP bar move every 20 mobs.

Which does suggest that general world item drops are controlled by the time of day that you kill the monster, in this petition I did not mention the event and specifically said world items.

good, you understand random times. then you understand that statistically world item drops even out throughout the whole day.

but i think you missed the point of what the support staff were saying - drops are random. can happen anytime anywhere to anyone. otherwise with predictable drop rates it wouldnt be as scary or fun when the Zariche pops onto your head. it would be a controlled statistic.

if you dont believe it that drops happen all the time, go ahead and level a new toon from scratch - give it no gear, and dont manor. full drops happen a LOT. no matter what time it is.

ive gotten C grade full drops, and 1 B grade full drops. multitudinous scrolls of good value, and a crazy amount of materials. doesnt matter what time you play, you get the same drop rate. except during the event.

ive been on 24hr pve binges, i know. with your level, i would expect you do too. if you experience no drops at a certain time of day, stop playing the lottery -- youre an unlucky SOB.
The game has been coded this way, because the korean (and many other versions of the game) servers can only be accessed from korea.
As you can see with the player graphics on Franz and Teon, localised servers have almost double the people playing on peak hours. Since its harder to find a huntingspot during peak hours, it makes sense to increse droprate.

BUT, servers 1-8 dont have this big difference between peak and off-hours population. The difference is only 15% between peak and low. This is due to the fact that these servers were the only way to play L2 from outside korea for a long time. and many people made friends they would have to leave if they were to move to an asian or euro server.

The thing is, this little piece of coding is easy enough to change... so is NC NA just to lazy, understaffed or indifferent to care?
The official responce clearly states that server time DOES affect the droprate on world items. I've levelled tons of charecters and know about dropraes, I've also played in clans of mixed euro/american players and played long stints/different times alot. Euros in clan have always seemed to complain more about lack of drops than the players who play later on at night and now it is ever moreso apparent why.

The servers are open for players from all over the world and nowhere does it state that world item droprates are affected by the time of day you play. It's absolutely absurd that a large portion of the players of the game have their gameplay reduced to the extent that they do not recieve as much 'luck' in item drops.

If I had known of this blatant reduction in chance of game progression due to playing an 'american' server compared to european I would have waited to spend the £60 to transfer my three characters to another NA server and transfered to luna when it comes up.

I can live with siege times and olympiad times but I would like to recieve the same game quality during PvE as other players do. How can I judge my server choice based on information that is not given to me without personal research and asking questions?
Correct me if I'm wrong spudnik but didn't you argue against the notion of a double XP event due to the fact that players wouldn't be able to get enough drops to afford the new gear they needed for higher grade items?

Thats the problem that EVERY player who doesn't play peak times suffers now since droprates are decreased during their playtimes.
You know...

I have no hard evidence to prove the contrary, but it would certainly explain a lot.

I play late-night west coast US, when it's between midnight to 2 AM across the Central and Eastern regions... and I'm hard-pressed to see a stem drop, forget about anything else.
It's why I ninja my neighbor's stems.
LOL now I know for sure why I never get anything drop wise. I play from midnight to 3am PST. Which is definatly off peak hours. SInce lvl 38 I have not received a full drop or anything better than a SOM recipe. I played last friday starting at the begining of the event. In the first 3 hours I got 3 life stones from the same mobs I have been hunting for months with nothing dropping. Im sure it's not just a small decline in drop rates iether, but rather a large decline in the drop rates during non-peak hours.

It is really discouraging now knowing for sure that the drop rates on everything drop during non-peak hours. I was always under the impression this only occured during events and affected event items only.

WoW hmmm now I really understand why the people on BLah say what they say.
the hell ?

go learn what the word RANDOM means. it means NO PRESET OR DETERMINABLE STATE. drops are unpredictable let alone "better" at certain times of the day. youre imagining things, and reading into that email what cannot be read.

i stand against double exp days because drops will STILL be low. adena gained will be more, but drops will still be JUST as hard to get. 2x random = still random.

lets follow your flawed logic to its illogical conclusion for a moment and let me pose a question at you: if i get a Dragonslayer as a drop at 12:00 AM, and ANOTHER dragonslayer (still in the sme spot!) at 12:00 AM when is the best time to hunt?

it happened at random!

it is statistically probable to happen.

there is no best time to hunt - otherwise the game would be EMPTY EVEN OF BOTS at those times. believe me, coding a simple script to log out after 8mins of no xp gained is easy enough. coding one that calculated adena earned per 30 mins and logging out if it hits below x threshold is just as simple.

cause if you didnt get drops, you wouldnt get adena too.

bottom line is you have 0 clue what youre talking about, mr tha_don. 0. de nada. zippola.

If they where to make the drop rate for the event even they wouldn't had made it 99% drop rate like it is now on the peak times...maybe something like 50-60% it would prevent the ppl form getting millions of them like you say they would if the drop rate was 99% 24/7.

I know exactly what I'm talking about thanks, after 3+ years of playing this game, playing at different times (I'm a student... I get into bad sleep patterns) I think I know what I'm talking about. I also speak to many different players and have recently asked them to tell me what items they've got and at what times etc.

I always remember being happy with drops I'd gotten and saying about them in clan only for alot of the european players to complain they hadn't had anything good for ages, at first I just put it down to them being unlucky.. this was a few months ago when I'd play nighttimes regularly.

The email clearly states that the server determins droprate on items which become random at certain times... IE different times affect droprate on items, not items drop at random times.

Have YOU done any reasearch? Have YOU gathered any drop information from other players from different timezones, levels and servers, have YOU got any clue what you are talking about?

Oh and to add, it's not about actually obtaining a full drop. Everyone has a chance for a drop but peak times have more than others, be it a stem or a soul bow.

I'm hard-pressed to see a stem drop, forget about anything else.

That's because I'm getting them all. :(
sigh

one more time for the slow don.

the server decides what drops, and when, right? ok.

this means the SERVER (at random) spews drops out (be it stem or soul bow) on its own. regardless of who is online, what time, or what drop.

theres too many variables in that equation to determine IF (let alone what ) you get a drop at x time.

thusly i maintain that regardless of time, drops of all kinds are random, and happen to everyone equally. randomness generally evens out like that. especially artifically generated randomness like keygenerators and number generators. you KNOW devs are smart enough to NOT use a simple irrational ( root 2, e, pi etc ) as a number generator. they likely used something more sophisticated like a fractal. or a binary number crunching algorithm to determine prime numbers larger than 1 googolplex.

the point is, you CANT do research that proves ANYTHING about drop rates. even WH in all its stupor can be duped. i remember one such event - obtaining a sage's rag in sea of spores way way way back around this time last year. the rate that WH posted was somewhere around 1/20 000 but i got one after 2 mobs, got PKD and logged out. turned in to WH and the rate got cut in half. it was back to 1/20k in a week after a LOT of bots began farming sea of spores.

statistical probability and randomness do NOT go hand in hand. you COULD tell me your ally got more stems in 2 hrs of hunting, but i have no doubt that server-wide-wise this was not the case. i would venture that most people would say i got no stems in those 2 hrs! wth!

your "proof" whatever it may be is not proof. it is a hypothesis that nobody here can prove nor disprove but must concede. if you say the drops suck during the 3 hrs of 12:00 am to 3:00 am on any given day, i must concede it as a theory. you have no such proof that drops suck in these off-primetime hours, and having PLAYED those particular hours many times over i can conclusively say you are wrong.

thus ends the statistical probability lesson for today ladies and germs. stay tuned as tha_don attempts to show his prowesse by calling me noob among many other well-thought out and highly original names and will have discovered that "if drop rates are better at x time of day, so is enchanting! zomg!"

If NC made it drop better at x time of day and totally jewed the rest of the day they would have ****** off a lot more people by now - including 24-7 trains who would be spending more money than making.
well. I am all for spreading the drop-rates across the clock. It seems most of the posts that I have speak of either higher drop rate 24-7 or keeping it the way it is.... What about having a higher drop rate every 3 hours? (1 hour of higher drop rate and 3 hours of lower drop rate)...I think that would cover many people's play times nicely.

~Z
so what u said there spud was that u used to use the sniffer to upload info to wh?
dang, never thought i read that on official forum ^^
My 'proof' that I obtained as a basis for me to even consider putting this argument forwards in the first place comes from 12 players.

3 play on erica, 9 on Bartz. theres at least 2 people playing in each timezone in the same huntspots as I asked them to. Over the weekend, beginning saturday daytime they hunted for roughly 3 hours each drops/adena they had gained. That's 20 sets of data from 3 hunting areas with 8 peak sets of data and 12 off peak sets of data (some played more than one day or longer than three hours etc). Also I am continuing to get more people to provide me with information to increase the accuracy of what I have already gained.

combined with my observations from the past.

Also remember that your [censored] sniffer only calculates items gained per mob killed and doesn't take into account time of day the event occoured. As this issue hasn't been approched outside of event periods previously I very much doubt you have kept track of the time of day compared to droprate of items.

Now Mr Splatter, what is your evidence to oppose the allegations I am making?

your "proof" whatever it may be is not proof. it is a hypothesis that nobody here can prove nor disprove but must concede. if you say the drops suck during the 3 hrs of 12:00 am to 3:00 am on any given day, i must concede it as a theory.

thats me, bout half an hour ago. plixplox read before posting.
Would they really do the effort of making a seperate code for the event items to regulate their droprate?

Pretty sure they just put a set 'random value' for every item and then depending on the time it gets 'halved' or 'not halved', seems a lot more logical then to reprogram things whenever you do an event.
(halving is just used as example).

I must agree with tha_don and his 'findings' though, my original theory was that nukers & humans got more droprates, go figure that most humans and nukers in clan happen to be us timezone players, and that the few eu players that are/used to be in clan appeared to get drops less often.

This doesnt mean full drops (or spellbooks, part drops, etc) wont happen during eu times, just a bit more rare.

And if they were ever gonna 'fix' this, i'm actually all for putting the servers constantly on the 'non primetime' droprate.

n order for me to concede this as actual research youll need to do 3 things: 1, get data for the WHOLE SERVER's drops; 2, account for Euro servers AT THE SAME TIME; 3, take it over a full 48 hr period.

then and only then will we BOTh see the whole picture.

9 people on bartz? what are you high?
Knowing some things about L2's code that I do that I didn't a few hours ago (it's amazing the things one learns when working in the tech industry), I have to concede the point that drops can be adjusted/set by real-life time (the code is there) and that your avatar's face, name, and hairstyle can all affect your chance to get drops or perform a successful OE.

That code seems to be there as well, though I have no idea if either of them are "active" or w/e you would call it.

Still, the possibility is there, and the probability exists. It also seems in keeping with the whacked-out "vision" E&G seem to have for this game.

Firstly, is saturday to monday morning not 48 hours?

Secondly, I am not contesting droprates on euro servers as I've never played on one... as for other servers it's impossible to get information as I don't know anyone on them, lol.

Next, how can I collect information for a WHOLE servers drops? I believe that is just you being awkward because I've actually done reasearch yet you're holding out an argument based on your theory, and yes my data is far from precise but I haven't had time to work on it since it only became apparent on saturday.

As for:

9 people on bartz? what are you high?

Erm I don't quite get what you're pointing at here? I have plenty of friends on Bartz thanks.

I believe you are now just being stubborn with your baseless argument. I do however still accept that you may be correct, if I am proved otherwise you will hear my humble apology. Untill then I am continuing to get more evidence that item droprates are significanlty higher during peak US times which is totally unacceptable that off peak gamers are treated in such an unfair way.

One of the things I was told in college is that it's almost impossible program a stand alone truely random number generator, so often programmers code forulas based on the milliseconds of the computers clock. So combining that and doing a formula with the characters features or location would make sense to create a 'random' number with.
actually to clarify...

doubling the xp/sp/adena and drop rates.... doesn't mean that random drops multiplied means the same random drop.. it means there is less figures to roll through for random... increasing... essentially doubling the chance that the random drop will be something great... be it full drop..

IF for example normal rate is that a stem has a 1 in 10 chance to drop.. a dark crystal boot is 1 in 1000 and a soul bow is 1 in 10,000... then doubling that random chance essentially means 1 in 5, 1 in 500, and 1 in 5,000 ...... it doesn't mean the quantities increase...... it does mean that the chances of the drops occuring has...
The more bots you report, the higher your drop rate becomes.
The more you Criticise NC_SOFT on the boards the lower your drop rates are. :D
I would like to add that normal drop rates and event drop rates are not related.

The drop rates of items from normal mobs is random at the time of the monster killing. This rate does not change with the time of day.

The drop rates of items from normal mobs is random at the time of the monster killing. This rate does not change with the time of day.

Thanks spam that pretty much clarifies both the arguments going on these boards at the momment. Event/regular drop rates vs server time.
I wonder if the time also effects such things as enchant success and cashing in event items...

From 2200 sack pieces all I got was an EAB, EWD and a couple 55 mid life stones, where seems almost everyone else with a similar amount or less got one, two or more attribute stones. While not that many sacks and hardly something large enough to base anything solid on, many of the events I've seen similar luck.

Im usually play at night in australia and am not a morning person at all. Morning for us is peak US time so Im almost never on during peak.

Time to become a morning person..?
Spam, then why is the drop rate biased to peak times for events?

sigh

one more time for the slow don.

the server decides what drops, and when, right? ok.

this means the SERVER (at random) spews drops out (be it stem or soul bow) on its own. regardless of who is online, what time, or what drop.

theres too many variables in that equation to determine IF (let alone what ) you get a drop at x time.

thusly i maintain that regardless of time, drops of all kinds are random, and happen to everyone equally. randomness generally evens out like that. especially artifically generated randomness like keygenerators and number generators. you KNOW devs are smart enough to NOT use a simple irrational ( root 2, e, pi etc ) as a number generator. they likely used something more sophisticated like a fractal. or a binary number crunching algorithm to determine prime numbers larger than 1 googolplex.

the point is, you CANT do research that proves ANYTHING about drop rates. even WH in all its stupor can be duped. i remember one such event - obtaining a sage's rag in sea of spores way way way back around this time last year. the rate that WH posted was somewhere around 1/20 000 but i got one after 2 mobs, got PKD and logged out. turned in to WH and the rate got cut in half. it was back to 1/20k in a week after a LOT of bots began farming sea of spores.

statistical probability and randomness do NOT go hand in hand. you COULD tell me your ally got more stems in 2 hrs of hunting, but i have no doubt that server-wide-wise this was not the case. i would venture that most people would say i got no stems in those 2 hrs! wth!

your "proof" whatever it may be is not proof. it is a hypothesis that nobody here can prove nor disprove but must concede. if you say the drops suck during the 3 hrs of 12:00 am to 3:00 am on any given day, i must concede it as a theory. you have no such proof that drops suck in these off-primetime hours, and having PLAYED those particular hours many times over i can conclusively say you are wrong.

thus ends the statistical probability lesson for today ladies and germs. stay tuned as tha_don attempts to show his prowesse by calling me noob among many other well-thought out and highly original names and will have discovered that "if drop rates are better at x time of day, so is enchanting! zomg!"

If NC made it drop better at x time of day and totally jewed the rest of the day they would have ****** off a lot more people by now - including 24-7 trains who would be spending more money than making.

In the beginning of the topictried to resist replying. But after the third page i just had to.

First of all in the first lines of your statement you are contradicting urself. You use the word equation to calculate the droprates. And how the server handles the ammount of the specific droprate. I want to point outthat you have no proff whatsoever wheter or not NCsoft has calculated servertime into this equation or not. I myself think that it is possible that times was added into the calculations. But mry preference goes out to an equation where the number of logged in people is in effect. That would render the timeissue useless and could explain why people at certain times have better drops or not.
I support my theory also with the fact that the ammount of quest items dropped for example the torches in the forge are affected by the number of players in the party. The individual his drops are influenced by the number of people in party.
Also Spam just told us it is not timerelated but it could be numbers logged on related. If not for world items, then for event items.

I quote:

theres too many variables in that equation to determine IF (let alone what ) you get a drop at x time.

This is true and this little sentence makes yall your statements false as well as mine. Or at least hypothetical.

I would like also to point out that it is also possible that adena drops MIGHT be a standalone calculation with a different equation. It is possible that they have a random integer between two values too calculate the ammount that needs to be dropped. I think it is safe to say that that this system would be stand alone given the fact that sowing can switch of the drops. Just like quest items can.
It is obsolete to think that this game would only have one system running for all droprates coz there are so many.

Also it is POSSIBLE that on 1/2000 droprate for item x you get 7 times in a row item X. We must say that it is NOT PROBABLE.

While the other way is also POSSIBLE that on a 1/2 droprate for item x you get 2000 times nothing. We must say that it is NOT PROBABLE.

The only way to prove this actually is to have a n hourly scheme of users online. And compare that to the user drops in total. L So every theory we might have cannot be proven. The only thing we can say for certain is that there are rates and that they are influenced by an equation with a random ammount of variables. We do not know these variables and what references that they use. We only know that for some items they might influence droprates.
You read HGSpam's reply before posting this?
no editted it. Sorry :)
We don't have the same conclusion on HGSpam's post it seems. I read that common drop rate is not affected by time and deduce that the event drop rate are. Nothing related to number of people connected there ...

Spam only said that normal drops are not related to server times or real life times. That does not mean that the droprates equations are not linked to the number of people logged in. If not with abuilt in cap.
Another thing in the equation I think people are forgetting is that we do not know if NCSoft ever continued what the did in C1 where they had the same mob have several drop lists it took from. (Back then the skelies in DV did that).

This could easily screw up peoples perceptions of droprates.
That is easy to check, you know. Also, there's several "same" mobs which are actually different. The beast farm mobs for example. Depending on spices etc. they vary much.
You choose the server your on KNOWING that Sieges and Olympiad would be geared around LOCAL time zones so SUCK IT UP!! Change servers (when you can) and get into your time zone. It's a GAME don't make it a life style!!!!

the discussion is about event items droprate, not olymp or sieges... read a bit pls...

co if droprate is in relation with number of ppl logged in, i can conclude that Lionna have an euro population, and only few US ppl, coz event items droprate is around 100% during euro nighttime.
I started playing in Dec 2007. Did there used to a much higher US player based? I'm hearing alot of people say regardless of what server that "this server is mosty euro" etc etc. I guess one can assume that majority of players L2 based is European or Asian.

Anways, new Euro server coming out and hopefully those complaining will move to it. Then consolidate the remaning "US servers". All free transfers of course.
There should be no difference.

I am an American, living in Texas. Due to prior commitments, I could not play this past Saturday or Sunday night, but had several hours to hunt during the day. The lower drop rate was unfair.

The weekend only events can also be a problem. During the week, I can fit in a few hours of play after work. Unfortunately some weekends I am out of town and can't play.

We complain about this problem, event after event. NCSoft never responds or even acknowledges a variable drop rate during the day.
After weeks and weeks of killing mobs in FOD I actually got a full drop last night (Doom Gloves). First full drop I have had since lvl 38. Only 32 more lvl's tell the next drop LOL.

the point is, you CANT do research that proves ANYTHING about drop rates. even WH in all its stupor can be duped.

you cant? if i were to kill 10k of the same mob with the same char and keeping it at the same level and then gathering how much drops i got during a certain time periods i cant say if the drop rates for the items dropped of it is?
if i were to find that during the first 12h of the day i get an item at 1 every 3 killed mob and the 2nd half of the day get 1 every 2nd. cant i say then that the droprate varies by time of day? especially if i have logged 5k killed mobs for each time period.

you say "Random" like a mantra. but you fail to realise it seems that random can be determined and put a number to it saying how likely something is.

we are not simply talking about items that might drop 1 in every 20k mob but even normal craft materials like animal bones or stem that might have a drop rate of 1/10 or even less in some occasions.

*edit* man i need to start learning to read entire threads before replying to them...... >>
I am sure the drop rates vary and no-one will ever convince me otherwise.

HGMSpam did respond in a way but that can in my view be taken with a grain of salt. And that's his job. Even if the statement is based on the complete truth we as costumers still have the choose to believe it or ignore it. I stated my believe in this and you are completely free to make up your own mind.

Why do I choose to take his statement with a grain of salt? Simple, managers are trained to do what is best for the company they work for simple is that. If not mistaken HGMSpam is a manager. So if you ever watch "Thank you for smoking" you will know what I mean. The response therefor will be cryptic if the facts can be bended at times. Silence is a good tool too to keep users/costumers guessing.

I take no offense to this approach at all. I know when to tell the truth and when to avoid it. I will tell the truth is it makes my point valid and I can prove it and if it is in the best interest of the company I work for. If it needs to be avoided I will either be cryptic or keep silent until the other party has prove otherwise like say in the form of a written and signed contract/recording etc what is deemed legal to the law.

Anyway thats my view of things. If you want to make a statement you have to have those facts to begin with. In this case it would be a current readout of the randomizers present in the game. With that you can make or break a case.

We as players do not have a case to build upon. We only have results of what we have seen from our personal point of view.
Is that a fact? Nope, to many variables can mess up this presumption of what could be called fact.

I suggest we lay this thread to rest.

Just a humble suggestion.
i loved thank you for smoking... excellent movie
