Seems like it's a service only available for Exteel, and I doubt that will change any time soon. Maybe the success of it in Exteel is to gauge the potential it may hold for other games? Who knows.
I *think* Piro is talking about NC setting up a way for players to buy in-game items directly from NC, for RL money. SOE already does this with Everquest 2.

Heh. NCcoin is already used in Korea for casual games. Like Exteel. Think of coins as tokens you purchase for your own account to play video games. You use them to buy armor dyes and such.
It (NC coin) has absolutely nothing in common with the selling of accounts or trading of items as was alluded to with e-bay and station comments by other posters.
But I'm sure we will have coin in L2 real soon. (WINK) I mean, server transfers and name changes didn't take that long right? :D (<-- This grin indicates sarcasm. I am in no way endorsing RMT use for Lineage II.)

Regarding the topic: I, for one, welcome our new CCV requiring overlords. Many a night goes by where I say to myself, "Jorge, you've been stuck at level 35 for the last twenty-five minutes and honestly...sprinkling chicken blood and bones on the grass out front doesn't seem to be rousing the the support of my dark master in my quest for level 36." Games that use the NCcoins should be Free to play, like exteel. That came out kind of backwards... Only the Free to play games, like Exteel, should use the NCCoin. That sounds a little better. Either go all out (Station Exchange) or don't go at all^^

I don't see what's wrong with the company being able to sell their own ingame items for real cash. The industry is multibillion and why should the company not benefit from their own product? From the many years I've played this game I am in shop mode 95% of the time either buying or selling, 4.99% in pve, and the measly 0.01% in pvp.
Also what is wrong with having a good job? You sound like you want everyone to slave day in and day out to play a game and not have a job. I have recently done calculations on what I own. I could buy everything I own now if I worked for less than 1 week. I have used many hours managing my buy/sell shops and in hindsight I would rather have used that time enjoying weekends out, attending a family gathering, helping out a friend in need, or working a few extra hours.

Yes, but given the rapid speed that NC moves you can expect the worst at about the time you have moved on to bigger and better.
In my mind this is like worrying about the Sun going Nova or Fresca replacing milk for cereal.
We all know the only game that will be better than L2 is L3. Nothing else.
On topic though, we all know ebay exists in this game extensively. Only someone extremelly ignorant will deny that. Now think of what will happen if NCSOFT offered it officially.
It will completely destroy the need for bot farmers, leaving only the bot levelers. That would free up so much space in game to enjoy it more, and at the same time not deal NCSOFT a devastating blow financially from all the farmer accounts that would no longer be needed since they would get income from people buying items and adena. I do think a line should be drawn though (no +20 swords, everything shoud be sealed and +0).
Because then the game isn't decided by hard work, but who has the biggest Checkbook. I love playing a retail server and laughing at private server folks, last thing I want is L2 to become a glorified & legal Private Server.

Have you considered the inflationary pressure generated by decreasing the cost of money? The market would acclimate and ultimately no benefit shift would result. From the perspective of NC revenue, the farmer accounts pay monthly fees, so NC gets its cut from the adena sales already. The optimal balance exists as is.

Inflation of prices? People already buy adena, so the prices would not increase much at all. As someone in here mentioned already; you can grind for weeks on end to gain that 100m or work for 3 hours and buy it.
For the 2nd part of your post: 'The optimal balance' as you put it is not here. If NC were to sell adena then the actual players would would be the ones to benefit. As is, only the farmers benefit. Adena sold by NC would completely ruin adena sellers (read as no more farmers all over the place, annoying spam messages or newbies leaving the game due to overcrowded hunting areas).
Plus, if all of the farmers were gone, NC could focus their attention on the botters that would actually feel the ban-hammer when it hits them.
And Ncsoft would not have to take a budget cut since they would make the money lost from all the farmers by officially selling adena for real currency. Probably even more. Can you imagine all that new influx of money being used to hire more gm's, help for alyra to finally update the website, a vacation for spam lol (poor guy is up at 3am), etc.

If NCSoft would go ahead and offer in game items, and or adena for sale for money, that would ruin the game, and YOU are ignorant if you fail to see that. NCSoft selling items/adena would just show me that they took the easy way out, and for NCSoft to do that, they are simply targeting an exclusive player base, and that alone is something that would be ultimately kill this game.
I could be wrong, but I thought the in game items for RL money would be on stuff that doesn't matter. Like you couldn't buy a +16 drac bow but you could buy a white version of it, for example.
I also have that white mask that I paid RL money for. No one seems to have a problem with it.

Your points would only have value if there were no adena buying or anything to date. But, since there is, NC selling their own adena would lead to nothing but removing a ton of annoying bots, farmers and spammers.

Agreed. It's frustrating when one month someone is buying DSS from me geared in D grade and the next month or so passes through wearing full S grade. I have taken a lot of breaks to play the market and get gear for my next grade and it really slows things down.

Spam you do realize that buying an item from ebay or an official L2 source would be the same thing, the only difference is who gets to claim the $.

Just know that adena farmers have millions upon millions of adena stored on accounts. The only way to get that money back in to circulation is for people to buy it.
Literally, someone can buy 1 billion adena and use it to their own benefit. True that if everyone bought 1 billion they would eventually run out, but it would have the same effect as NC selling their own.

AI changed and there are some very funky places to grind now. places where the time of day will tell you what kind of mobs are present, areas where mobs will duplicate + social with Nuker mobs that HURT the duos, mobs that buff themselves Chant of Victory, mobs that kite you into x8 very high pdef social rooms, and rooms of 9+ nuker mobs all social eyeballs and golems that the golems PORT you to them.
pve is getting harder by the update.
not to mention a maze where you can only duo inside, and the end of the maze means solving a puzzle based on the mobs thrown at you.
there are bosses where if you kill specific mob groups you weaken the boss vs specific elements of the game (weak to Patk, etc).
Spam pretty much closed this issue when he hinted towards the lawsuit NCSOFT had about ingame items being sold for real money.
Because of it, in game items will never officially be sold for real life money (they probably can't legally do it because of what happened), even though it was a good idea. Too bad! On to other solutions to raise funds and get rid of farmers at the same time. ::hmm::
So the government makes drugs illegal, and drug lords make a mess of cash selling drugs...because ultimately there is consumer demand. The drug lords pays taxes, so the government kind of turns a blind eye, unless someone complains about the drug farms.
Then, a marketing puke in the government says..."Hey, let's legalize the drugs, supply them ourselves and tax the heck out them. Our profit = up and the drug lords--whom we can't control anyway--profit = down. And (here's the best part) we declare it LEGIT!!!!"

Spud, I know things have changed but a lot hasn't. You don't *have* to grind on those particular mobs. There are plenty of plain old easy to grind on mobs and people hit max levels before the "smarter" ones were ever implemented.

So, true and hopefully amusing (if not thread derailing) story...
I get good advice to go to Isle of prayer. I decide to go after one particular night's clan hall defense. We finish that, I go and get shots, put stuff in warehouse, etc and then head to IoP.
I get to alligator island, swim to IoP, look around and finally find an area without anyone. Now, I know that you can't have more than 2 people in a party. What I forget (in my tired state) was that I never dropped party from the clan hall defense. I look at a mob... decide to hit it, and suddenly all these mobs appear and take me out.
I'm thinking WTH! I was solo. Then I look up to see all the names of my party members. sooooo....
Now cut to a few nights ago. Another mage in my clan wants to go with me but he is 77. I warn him about the island but he finds out that you can be less than 78 to level there. I tell him to "bring a blessed rez because I don't entirely trust this place".
We get there, kill for a bit and I have the bright idea "hey, let's head toward the Crystal Cave area as I'd like to check it out".
We go, pass by some people in the pass ("hey, hey, just passing through, etc), kill a few mobs that aggro and then I see the Water dragon...
Standing there...
Gleaming, like a promise in the sun.
So I think "ok, why not, I was born for this moment, I've taken on FoG mobs solo, nothing can harm me". I hit the Water Dragon, he spawns friends I HIT the BSOE they interrupt it and I go down in moments.
My clan member BSOE'd to safety so that he could laugh and taunt until his throat was hoarse and red. Well, I didn't hear him but he would would be remiss not to have laughed and taunted.
Next time I go there someone is going to tell me "OMG you were standing next to THAT particular tree and not running in circles!?!? No wonder you died!" :)
As a side note I found a house with 3 guards inside that were attackable... I just backed away slowly... slowly... (I later learned they were part of an island race quest.. .but as I said, I don't entirely trust that place :cool: )
