Bison exp setup

Orc Classes Started Last reply 59 posts
Hello all. I need some lil help on what setup I should use use when my tyrant sub will hit 68.

I've seen some ppl use tallum heavy, some use nightmare light and a bunch of different tatts also but I wonder what would be the best for me?

VR no VR? NM or tallum ? +5 str +4 con -9 dex ? or something completly different than this ? <.<

I duo with my SE wich is same level as me. Using a SoES with BTB SA (btb 5) and I use greater swift attack pots for haste 2.
+5 STR +4 CON -9 DEX Tallum Heavy, Dragon Grinder Health, vr 2/3 and normal hp potions and you're set. Also, get a Homu Conversion.
Ahhh I won't get too much hp using VR with all those crits ? =o
i think you may have to regulate life via using/not using shots due to the crazy crit rate at 30%.

get too low, turn shots on, get too high, shots off. i wonder if that would work...
Wanna exp with 30% bison and cant keep your HP low? Buy Plated Leather Set

O.O

I have never ever had to do that. I just kill mobs and pop a normal healing pot if too much aggro/dropped to low.

To the OP, in my experience, every xp place I gone to I never had the problem with staying at 30% hp. Mostly the mobs are the one regulating your hp but there are ways to "help". One way is how you aggro/what mobs you pick first. Weakest mobs to get it a bit up, harder mobs for down/maintaining blahblah ^^

Also your blaster is your friend. E.g. you're fighting a mob where u know the mob's dmg is lower than what you VR from it. Solution - pull another mob with the blaster when you are close to going out of it. The 2 mobs at once, but only for a few split secs since 1st mob dies, will ensure the mob with lower dmg than the VR doesn't sprig you out of it.

But yeah overall the places you will be xping from now on the mobs dmg will = the vr in 30%Bison.

ps! Oi! Don't try to maintain it too close to 30%, you want room for when you first go smack a mob that your first hit doesn't take you out of it. 20-25% is the good happy place.
With or without SS ?

With or without SS ?

Always with, hench quoting lifesong and saying never ever having to do that =P
How would a Bisoning 68+ Tyrant fare in Nightmare Heavy?

Full body armor. Produces following effect when worn with Helm of Nightmare, Gauntlets of Nightmare (Heavy Armor) and Boots of Nightmare (Heavy Armor): P. Atk. +4%, chance to get Sleep/Hold attack -70%, CON+2, and DEX-2

Instead of the +2 Str -2 Con of Tallum Heavy, the +2 Con -2 Dex from NM seems to make more sense. It would allow you to further maximise the tattoo setup of +5 Str +4 Con - 9 Dex. Not to mention the 4% P. Atk, instead of 8% Atk. Spd which seems pointless after -9 Dex. Granted, Tyrant Atk Spd is all in the totems, I would think the added P. Atk. would be better suited.
Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Use light armors.Period. Most of the times you will have a problem with keeping your HP low wearing hv armor, not to mention other backdraws. Depending on buffs DC Light or NM Light or Plated Leather is the best for pve. On the other hand using hv armor in PvP is probably the dumbest thing any tyrant could do
Since this is strictly for 30% Bison xping, the pvp thing is a null point imo. And problems? You talking from experience or just assuming? The setup Charmille listed is the one I used, and like I said had no problems. Nor did the tyrant I xped with from lvl 1-76.

In regards of drawbacks, the only one that matters a bit is the loss of run spd. But then again, where you xp and using your range attacks will make it hard for you to notice the difference.

Oi Thystle about the NM heavy, tbh I don't think it will even out. You will want that +2 str, and with the tats negating the minus con of tallum and then some. Btw the overall atk. spd loss will be 41 with -9dex. Can also just do +4 str +4 con and only take a loss of 36 atk. spd.

I would rec going to l2calc and play around with some of the setups. Then maybe you can measure which one would seem to fit you the most in regards of how you wanna xp.

Mind telling everyone how much time did you grinded going let's say from 68 till 76 (from bison till S grade) with that setup? A general time frame.
Can't give you a XX amount of hours, as its been awhile. Can only recall the xp % per buff round at certain lvls. E.g. at 70 in duo it was 5.2 or 7.2 % <head scratching> and 75 iirc around 2.1% (trio), which was faster than a dagger friend with PoF Pagans group. Only other thing I can tell you is that we often got comments going "wow u are lvling fast" and others saying they wished it was as fast for them. Clannies that partied us or just me <3ed the xp rate and said it was fast and good. Hope that can help though doubt any numbers would suit you.

Btw also managed to catch in and surpass a Tyrant two lvls higher that was using DC light w/ DG health but I suspect he did a mix of 30/60% instead of perma 30%

Lastly about the heavy armor, are you speaking from experience or...?
That's what I originally thought, but after seeing and hearing about tyrants in Tallum Heavy, I thought I would look into it. I guess I'm just trying to figure out why Tallum instead of NM given the standard tattoo setup when 68+. The only reason I can think of is to make up for the -Dex.

+5 STR +4 CON -9 DEX Tallum Heavy, Dragon Grinder Health, vr 2/3 and normal hp potions and you're set. Also, get a Homu Conversion.

***EDIT***
Ahh, thanks for the explination, Julia. Think I was set on optimizing tattoo setup with the armor, instead of using the tats to counter the armor's negatives.
That's about % what i was doing. The difference in armors is probably due to lv of VR used.

Also did some L2Calc on 70lv tyr, +3 DG /HP, +5 str +4 con, WC 66 buffs and BTB 5 from SOES (no boss jewels):

Tallum HV: DSP 946.2 Pdef:824
PL Set: DSP 948.7 Pdef:628
DC Light: DSP 924.8 Pdef:755

So i'm gonna stick with my previous statement: Grind with PL Set
Dont go Varkas then as you will get ***** by the melee crits and melee power hits with that pdef. I'll rather take 200 more pdef than 2 more DPS ;)
Roll a tyrant then play smartas s teon destro
ORLY? Know what a Grand Khavatari is?
Aparently you don't. High pdef is not something a wise tyr would want to have. One more thing. Why would any sane tyrant/GK go to varka spot? Open field, more running than fighting + low speed (even lower with hv armor), low HP mobs. That's not an efficient grind. Sure you can even wear robes and kill x1/2HP mobs using dagger with critical bleed but that's not what tyrants are meant to do lol
I take it you've never been to Varka Captains/Generals or know why to make the quests. Have you actually even done the 3rd class change quest, hmm? So yet again, I ask do you even know what a Grand Khavatari is?

High pdef is something you can scoff at if you dont have any enemies and play on a totally empty server. Heck, you can probably survive in NG armors if your only goal is to PVE 100% of the time.

Fact is, PL has only 2 higher DPS than Tallum while Tallum offers you 200 more Pdef, additional carry capacity AND resist to bleed/poison.
And the fact that this topic is Bison EXP Setup matters in any way?
You're starting to sound a lot like Spudnik ^^

You're starting to sound a lot like Spudnik ^^

then by all means tell him epic fail.

apparently Spudnik is good at that.

i havent said a word in this thread cause Charmille decided to stick his swedish meathead in it already, so the last thing i have to say is

:p

And the fact that this topic is Bison EXP Setup matters in any way?

And you're the one who brought PVP up in the first posts. Does that ring a bell or do you wanna go and edit those out? Btw, nice try at changing the subject when you cant answer the matter at hand.

Have you or have you not done the 3rd class change quests? Or are you a theory warrior like Spudnik who has some 6x toon at most and thinks he knows how stuff works?

Only argument you've shown so far as to why heavy is not as good as light is the runspeed loss, which does not matter a thing if you exp in a cata, pagans, IT, WoA or any other GOOD spot.

PS. Spud, gotten to 64 yet?
keep playing that destro charmille. youre really helping the Tyrant conversations.

Julia's input is valued. yours is just name-calling.

theory warrior or not, i STILL have more tyrant experience than you do. and julia more than both of us.

cyrk and myself both did concur on the plated leather set useage having not conferred. thats got to mean something.

but neither julia nor yourself actually showed any numbers or sound reasoning against using the PL set. you just insult and mock, julia has yet to comment on the validity of going 68+ in Cgear as her (assuming tis a Her) experience is in Tallum Heavy from the sounds of things.
OK so i'm gonna explain this to you as i would to a 5-year old kid:

1. -10 run speed is ALOT, unless you hunt in closed and packed with mobs rooms like the ones you mentioned above (btw. -9 dex and hv armor for bandersnatchers? lolcharmille)

2. If you would ever rolled a tyrant you would know that using tallum hv in catas would result in perma 30%+ HP. The only way to prevent it would be pulling more than 1 mob at the time which screws up respawn routine thus reducing the efficiency of your grind, not to mention it's alot less safe in case of someone training you.

3. PL set is ALOT cheaper than Tal hv. There's simply no point in getting A grade armor since you wont make much difference in any serious PvP with pre S grade melee toon (ganks excluded). Instead try to save some money for S grade. You will need Drac armor set, DS /HP, Drac bow /focus, IC set and boss jewels. That list is kinda long so you'll need all the money you can get.

4. PL set is not only cheaper to buy but also in use. Quoting L2calc from my previous example and using your server price of ssa:
Adena per second PL 174 compared to 188 with tallum hv. Te difference may be small but try to multiply this by all the time spent going 68-76 and you'll see some crazy numbers

And here's some response to your last post:

And you're the one who brought PVP up in the first posts. Does that ring a bell or do you wanna go and edit those out? Btw, nice try at changing the subject when you cant answer the matter at hand.

Dunno - i mentioned pvp in my second post here :) And it's you who tried to change this topic into 'all purpose armor for 68+ tyrant' :)

Have you or have you not done the 3rd class change quests? Or are you a theory warrior like Spudnik who has some 6x toon at most and thinks he knows how stuff works?

And again bison EXP setup. And yes
Actually, I have more experience with a tyrant than you Spud ;)

If you want sound reasoning against using PL set, read the thread. LOW Pdef, no other bonuses. Those are quite apparent for anyone who actually does more than just hits the mobs. If your gameplay is 100% PVE, you can go with PL just fine, provided you dont touch places with SS using, melee crit doing mobs. Which rules Varka out for example unless you wanna get 1 shot in 30% Bison. You dont actually stay at 30%, you will be at 20-25% most of the time to avoid VRing yourself over the threshold.

Oh, and about namecalling, I think you're doing a wonderful job in that. Btw, when will you learn to keep your word? You said the last thing you're gonna say is :p

LOW Pdef, no other bonuses.

Tallum HV Poison and Bleed Resistance +80% is so uber that it's worth spending 100+kk :)
If you need to spend 100mil for it, you're on a crappy server. You're also again ignoring +200 pdef to PL and the added carrying capacity which means several k more shots or a few hundred CP pots.

But hey, its apparent you havent done the 3rd class change quests since you're avoiding it so much. Lvl 70 or what? Since you did the calculations on that.

Have you or have you not done the 3rd class change quests? Or are you a theory warrior like Spudnik who has some 6x toon at most and thinks he knows how stuff works?

And again bison EXP setup. And yes

And you can have 2,8k ssa more - that's worth every adena spent on this set. But i don't see you arguing about other facts that i pointed out. Can't realy argue with numbers?

PS. Cut the Cp pots/pvp crap. This topic is not about it. Here we discuss pure pve setup
someone recommended to blaster stuff to pull it - PL adds +4 str and with the +5str tattoo recommended by others earlier that would make blaster crit 25% more.

draw your own conclusions.
Forgot about -2 CON from tallum. You can carry 1844 SSA more with tallum than with PL set.

Spudnik: you can't realy exp with skills :) 25% skill crit rate is nice but it doesn't realy matter in pve.
sure you can. Bear! not bison! hell, Puma to 79 using skills.

Have you or have you not done the 3rd class change quests? Or are you a theory warrior like Spudnik who has some 6x toon at most and thinks he knows how stuff works?

Like what numbers? 2 more DPS? Oh right, thats great numbers. Thats your only argument for using PL lol.

You know, only numbers that actually matter in that are the SS price, and even then, it is pretty much inconsequental ^^ Julz will explain the rest to you and Spud since you both need some guiding in the ways of the Orcs.

PS. You can always sell gear when you move to the next grade, so your part 3 is a moot point from the beginning, but nice try.

1. -10 run speed is ALOT, unless you hunt in closed and packed with mobs rooms like the ones you mentioned above (btw. -9 dex and hv armor for bandersnatchers? lolcharmille)

Don't dish my lovely Bandersnatch slaves T_T 14k/21k xp per mob, nice aggro range and decent respawn made them quite alright imo. For run spd, it just didn't matter in that area as I got to know it. I do believe that can also apply to other open areas. You learn how to pull and make the best of the types of aggro.

2. If you would ever rolled a tyrant you would know that using tallum hv in catas would result in perma 30%+ HP.

I got to disagree with you. Since 70+ I been pulling from 1-2 big (+1 small) rooms in Disciples with just WC72-77ish buffs or SE 56 buffs. No need to over aggro, mobs just die a hella fast and their dmg even out both lvl of vr just fine. VR 2 can just mean u actually gotta use a normal heal pot once in a while. If I was in PL I don't think I could had fared as well, but could be a possiblity I guess that the extra STR kick would in return up the VR enough so the end result would be the same. But melee crits on PL increases chance of dust eating.

For the spots Charmille mentioned, those are very much imo places a Tyrant/GK should lvl, most of them at 74+.
About Pagans/Varks, PL seem very well to be suicidal. In Drac I get 800-1k crits (WC 77 buffs) from soldiers/caps. Pagans... well the drainers are the biggest [censored] there if Anterooms but u very often end up with multiple melee mobs that can dish out quite a beating so no PL again.

In conclusion I think you could use PL but you would be screwing yourself over on some lvl. PL could work until 74ish but after that you are then reaching the point of royally screwing yourself over. The mobs from there on will pound you down with their normal hits and crits like no tomorrow in PL. Overall you make something risky more risky, unless you somehow compensate (i.e. xping in BS/HS). But overall, there are xp spot where you can not compensate. Most of those areas being past 74+ and very good xp spots.

FYI, I aren't saying you got to go varkas/Pagans/IT/High lvl cata. Some prefer HS/BS etc but I for sure want the best xp possible out of my time, which leaves those spots out for multiple reasons.

On the money/pvp issues, Imma not comment on that because long [censored] post will become longer unless anyone cares to know. I don't wanna cause eye cancer to some people if the discussion on those subjects are already dead :P
Yeah i read the entire post, which Charmille couldn't manage on any of mine :)

First of Charmille: Got a Tyr/GK of your own? Please enlighten us with it's lv. And as for 'Julz will explain the rest to you'. You didn't explained anything simply because you don't know why some tyrants prefeer tallum hv over light armor. You've just been told that. You know there are some beneficts, you might even know what are they but you don't know the reason of choosing that armor. You don't know the drawbacks it got. You're just like those blah people who are preverted l2calc users but didn't tried anything by themselfs. In other words let Julia do the talking. I don't agree with everything he/she's saying but at least statement's are followed by arguments and we can discuss it.

As for Julia: No doubt you know what you're taliing about but i have to disagree on some points. First off there's a big difference between se 56 VR2 and WC's VR4, not to mention warchant. I've tried grinding with tallum hv and vr4 and it doesn't make any sence whatsoever to add yourself quite alot problems with keeping HP down. Second of all with tallum hv -9 dex and wc only buffs you end up with 99 speed. If that's neglectible to you or even great for pvp as Charmille tried to say, that's fine by you, but it does decrease grind eficiency by ALOT. You said that you pull entire rooms with tallum hv - that's your choice, i prefeer to move from room to room with the same efect but faster (due to speed bonus). It may be only a couple of seconds every respawn round but in the long run it does kinda big difference. VR3/4 +4 str and warchant bonus is enough to make up for lower pdef. Yeah crits can be a real pain in the [censored] but i have to be crited 2-3 in the same second to die (pots/elixirs). If they are distributed within couple of seconds they're not realy that dangerous. This is simply the price of slightly faster exp. As for surviving multiple mobs in pagans it's realy simple. You kill faster - no multiple mobs cos of respawn, and that's it. And i dont go Varka cos it's not that efficient to pull mobs from long distance and it's full of bots.

Actually, I said that because she said she wanted to reply to it. I guess communicating outside the game is something unfamiliar to you? I'm even now talking to her about your latest "smart" reply. Got good laughs so far ^^

99 speed, guess you should get WW, hmm? You know, like buy a potion or use one of the scrolls you get from all the events? But hey, that requires actual thinking! You cant get it straight from the WC, ****!
Cyrk, first thx for reading ^^

Reply: with a Warchant and VR4 its still np with me to keep low. I just prioritize my targetting differently in regards of "soft" target mobs or high p.def mobs if I am getting close on breaking out of it.

Also for run spd. I think in order to compensate I gotten used to using Fblaster very much in regards of how to pull to minimize overall running. Oi also e.g. if down to 3 focuses and mob a bit away, instead of doing them on the spot, I just already move to the mob and then do the charging up with the mob hitting me, thus helping me keeping hp low (though that scenario is if I am close to breaking the limit, if not then yeah will do them without getting smacked on ofc).

Lastly no WC I know likes to buff and sit, all the clan ones in Tsuki likes to co DD instead of being glorified pick-upper. So they actually co pull mobs most of the time. Its actually a trend of whatever class buffer I party with. They like to feed me mobs ^^ Pretty sure that also "influence" my stance on the run spd. and efficientcy in those lvls. But overall, many ways in which u can make the -10 run spd. and p.def. work for you, just as you managed to work with PL I reckon.

For pvp, well bonus side -> higher surviviability, down side -> lower run spd. I think it depends on what classes you are fighting, area, buffs etc. There are soooo **** many pvp scenarios that can be discussed. But in the end null point to me, cuz most pvp that a person gonna do as they lvl is most likely at 76+. And at that point only set to wear is drac imo.
Gah I'm so lost now
Tallum...PL....low/high VR etc. etc.

Let's clear a few things up....I'm just gonna be EXPING till 75 on that tyrant sub so I don't need to know anything about what COULD be better for pvp. What I need to know what would be the best for xp (mainly in catas). As I said I have a SE same level as me so I will have VR3 till lvl 72 and I use GSAPs + BTB 5 SA on a staff of evil spirits my SE uses.

What would be the best for THAT ?

Go blah - you'll feel among your kind there. Btw. No answer of lv of your tyrant? Not even if you have a tyrant?

PS. Did you see me replying in destro thread? No? Maybe cos I know about destro somewhat same you know about tyrants, eg. I read quite alot but didnt manage to have my own high :)
Actually, I only talk about my main most of the time, my other toons and their lvls are my business not anyone elses ;) I've never mentioned my main level in here or Blah either. And for the record, I can play several other toons too ^^

PS. I'm still waiting to hear whats wrong in what I've been saying ;) The fact that you should get an outside source of WW because a WC cant give you it? Or the fact that Tallum has better overall benefits? Or that Pagans, IT boss room, WoA and Catas are all extremely good exp spots? That runspeed does not mean anything in a confined exp spot? Or the fact that you can sustain 30% Bison perfectly well with Tallum Heavy?

You prefer using VR4, I and some others prefer VR2. On my main, I dont even care about VR since I'm mostly hunting for Fire Stones these days. And as I said a few times, PL is fine if you go 100% PVE, but guess you just cant take the fact that Heavy armor works just as well(even tho you suggest buying IC set in S-grade ;) )

Cyrk, first thx for reading ^^

Yeah you too.

Also for run spd. I think in order to compensate I gotten used to using Fblaster very much in regards of how to pull to minimize overall running. I'm using a bow - no need to charge focus and costs less mp :)

Lastly no WC I know likes to buff and sit, all the clan ones in Tsuki likes to co DD instead of being glorified pick-upper. So they actually co pull mobs most of the time. Its actually a trend of whatever class buffer I party with. They like to feed me mobs ^^

Yeah - i'm using boxed wc so no love for me there.

Pretty sure that also "influence" my stance on the run spd. and efficientcy in those lvls. But overall, many ways in which u can make the -10 run spd. and p.def. work for you, just as you managed to work with PL I reckon.

That's the thing - you can use alot cheaper equipment and get the same resoults. Plus i got trained way too much in cata while testing tallum hv.

For pvp, well bonus side -> higher surviviability, down side -> lower run spd. I find that dc light is alot more versalite for A grade pvp. I'm not a big fan of tallum hv pvp tyrants cos i've never lost to another tyrant ~my lv in hv in my life. When i see him comming i pop wolf and start kiting. To catch up with me he has to pop rabbit loosing patk. and when he does get close to me it's toe to toe but i have more patk. If he switches to another totem he'll become a practice target and if he stays with rabbit he'll do less dmg to me that i will to him. Small scale PvP is all about the range and speed. Large scale is all about range and there's nothing we can do about it before K+

Actually, I only talk about my main most of the time

Stick to it then. And as for speed - read my reply to Julia.

Gah I'm so lost now

You're going to get 2 answers again, cos we both are living proof that both PL and tallum hv does work in that situation. In any case get a bow also. That way when your current setup will prevent you from keeping <30% HP switch to bow for no VR effect and still decent amount of dmg (untill you drop <30% HP again ofc)

Actually, I only talk about my main most of the time

Stick to it then. And as for speed - read my reply to Julia.

You know, there's subclasses too in this game ;)

As for speed, your PERSONAL problem does not mean that what others write is wrong. If you are forced to box a WC and cant have WW, does not mean that it is the rule of thumb and all advice should be based on that.

I can box PP+SE all the time if I want, but I'll rather take a buffer into the party and leave them out totally. Do I use a minimum of SE+PP buffs as a basis for my advice? No, since most people dont have that level of support. Or then they have even more.
About costs, with the economy on Teon, I knew from start I would get my adena back + some. Thats a trend imo with armor sets like T. heavy, the amount of classes using it gurantees money returned in most scenarios.

For Pvp, in any straight on melee fight, I always let the person come to me. Simply cuz then I do range atks. then charge back up full before they reach me. So a bit of a headstart with dmg, which often leads to the person being dead after 2-5 more skills. (depending on buffs and pots). With you I wouldn't chase you because why should I? Come to Orcy if you wanna kill me, plus yeah the "headstart" dmg/charges wise :P Only scenario where I would put up a case is if u messed with my clan mates, but still switching totems when u stop running would be a plusible thing to do. But as you proved, you work with what you have and try to make it work for your own advantage ^^

Cardek, welcome to tyrant world ^^ Many ways to play the class, though for the matter of armor it would be easier for you to test it out with PL as it is cheaper to aquire. From there on you can judge for urself if its something you wanna stick with or u wanna try T. Heavy or DC Light. Also, l2calc is your friend.
Can we please get this de-railed train back on track? The OP asked about the best PvE NOT PvP setup.

I don't have a tyrant (yet) so I can tell you what PvE setup is the best for 30% Bison.
I am gonna go for a setup that some tyrants call "suicidal", but I guess I will have to wait and see what the result will be once I manage to sub tyrant.

If you wonder what the suicidal setup is:
Dye:
+5 STR +4 DEX -9 CON
Armor:
Plated Leather, DC/NM light
Weapon SA:
Risk haste all the way from C grade to A grade

I am only gonna PvE so I don't care if I will be an easy target in PvP or not (couldn't care less about PvP)
Don't go NM light which apart from buildin vr1 it sucks major for tyrant. Risk. Haste is nice if you have btb on you all the time and you feel your toon. HP is safer. If I would have had more money in A grade lv range i would go with sobbecs risk haste no doubt for pve.

PS. DC light ain't sucidal - it's probably the safest pve armor you can get (quite alot of pdef and nice run speed at the cost of DPS).
with -9 CON, guess you missed that. He will have about 1k HP at 30% Bison and 3,8k or so at 100%.
Guess I can try DC light since it's what I'm using atm...
or Tallum Heavy...
or PL...

GAH :(

yupp...that's why they call the setup suicidal, but then again I will have some fun grinding living on the edge (good thing I have an EE alt on a different account with 60% rez :p )
Cant make it work in the long run. You'll probably making about -3,5% per buff round :)

Maybe, and I say MAYBE with constant btb 6, HP song and CoV on you
Well, it is very situational, but it could work in 1x HP places like BS/FotD. You will kill the mobs so fast that you're not taking almost any damage. Then again, if you have VR on, you'll be constantly over the 30% line.

But yes, Vitality, BTB6 and CoV could make it work. But that means 3 support classes already O.o
I have none of the things you 2 mentioned...not even epics.

I know I will be living on the edge with the setup I have chosen.
Nope - you wont be leveling. You will be very very veyr veyr lucky if you dont die every buff round.

Read my post again...I said living not leveling :p
Nope - you wont be living , at least not in game :)
