Help Make L2 Vault Better!

General Discussion Started Last reply 3 posts
This week I will be beginning a recruitment campaign to beef up the staff here at the Vault with a new generation. If you're interested, check the Staff Openings (http://l2vault.ign.com/static.php?page=sopenings) page.

Open Positions Include:

News Reporter
Database Admin
Guide Writer
Columnist
Fan Fiction Writer
Translator

Everyone can contribute something to the Vault. If you'd just rather not do any volunteer work, then tell us what you'd like to see as a viewer. This week we will be running a poll (http://l2vault.ign.com/) including the various aspects of the site we could work on. Tell us which ones you would like to see!

And if you'd like to contribute to the Vault without becoming a staff member, you can always submit your various creative works and guides! As a fan site L2 Vault is a melting pot of player contributions to the game. Just send anything to [email protected] or use the site's submission systems and include any source info you'd like us to post.
Can you give a little more detail about the DB Admin position?

All it says is entering data. Is there any actual administration of the database. What DBMS is it? etc.
The lack of info is probably due to my lack of good knowledge about it thus far :P

Well anyway from what I know and from what I've done myself, we use VNAP, the application which all Vault network sites use to update any info on the site. It works simply enough, Just has a set of modules... one of which may be Weapons. That page includes categories (swords, blunts for example) and you can add new entries with a simple button and filling out fields for patk, grade, etc.

As I've not worked with any other DBMS I don't know how it compares -- although does that answer your question?
