Hi there! This rare, so rare, class have some unique skills, like the enhance shield defence bonus, and the ultimate defense that DA have...So whats the problem of choosing this class? Its just their lack of p.attack? Its because they take more time to level?Arent they the finnest of all the tanks (read tankers guide)?
They are tough to solo. They have no real offensive skills. My dorf has an easier time soloing. They have some skills that i never use and can't be bothered to points in like Charm and Holy aura. Tried holy aura in fotd but prefer using arrest. The attractive cube is real useful in parties. In duo with my clannie, a tyrant, the life cubic helps when we have no healer. My tk was my first character and is my main, so I stuck with him. But overall I think the DA is a better tank, in that you will have an easier time leveling when solo and still be useful in parties. Sorry if I am rambling a little.
Because tanks are rare in L2 to begin with because everyone wants a damage dealer. DA's are generally picked because of their average defense and offense and a panther that can help them solo to get some exp.
Why do we need defensive classes when we have buffers and healers and can get more exp per hour by using a damage dealing group than a mixed group?
But yeah, the TK is probably the best "Tank" in game if thinking from a complete defensive stand point. Good p.def, m.def, and high evasion. But in a game where it is more importaint to have more p.attk, m.attk, and accuracy, seems like those attributes are overlooked.
The current state of the game due to development and player preference is why people don't play TKs. Only real reason to play a TK is that you have a better chance at getting hero with it.
Man I personally love and have loved playing my main through my l2 career. The lvling factor yea its kinda slow but all depends on your availabillity of parties/buffers which I have not had a problem with since I got passed B grade way back.
Skills to save sp on: Holy Aura and Charm and Entangle (sometimes I use in pvp but that is about it)
To help your lvling curve definitely get a wolf mine was definitely a huge help for when I solo'd buffs or not. Attract cubic is good for pvp dont really use it for pve much. Life cubic is my bread and butter and loved to have in party most of the time (**** those tyrants and destros needing low health). Storm Cubic is good too but just wish it fired a bit more often. But yea only one offensive skill (Tribunal) which is real good but hey we were not meant to be damage dealers anyhow.
Well whatever you choose to play hope you enjoy it :)
I ve started my tk 2 and a half years ago without even knowing what a hero is, i ve enjoyed his playstyle every moment since then, supporting my party members and dieing for them.
For me its clear that its the best tank defence-wise for the following reasons: 1) highest pdef 2) nice hp/cp 3) shield defence from all directions PASSIVE(with no defects) 4) speed/ att. speed
Atm my tk is 79 lvl and i can beat pretty much every other tank in oly and a nice percentage of most classes, so before you create another DA, think about the infamous Temple Knight.
Its good to see that, at least some, are here not just for level, but also to enjoy themselfs with some toon and class that they enjoy...as for me, im going to do an alt tk!!!after reading some much "love" for this class, im convinced!!!:D
By the way, which tats and dyes you recommend for this toon?
I didnt touch any dex or str or con I just went with what armour sets gave me I liked being pretty well balanced. I did up my casting speed though with dyes. My preference is all, some might do up others.
I have enjoyed my TK so far and I am at lvl 46 now. I know it's a slow pace lvling compared to my Sps or even my Glad but I really can't imagine how bad it's going to get in the 70's. Anyway the reason I came on here is for the tat setup.
I was thinking (+4Con-4Str) -7%Patk but +4680 in weight which would help greatly carrying more shots. Also thought about +5Wit -5Int since Matk isn't really important but casting speed is specialy when trying to heal myself in battle.
There is no +5 tattoos, so +4 Wit/-4 Int would be the way to go. On my wifes tank she did +4 Wit/-4 Int, +4 con / -4 str, and +1 con / -1 str, but the also went the route of dedicated pve tank. Since we rarely if ever play alone, she is always the tank, I am always the DD (I play ES btw). In all it makes a pretty sick team, we also both have wolves with them, so that helps ALOT.
If you were going more PVP you should probably consider +4 str/-4 con, or -4 dex, not sure which would be better there.
To get a good look at what you are doing seach google for "L2Calc", I don't think it's a "bad" tool, since it doesn't really tell you anything but character stats, but it helped us figure out exactly what the difference would be with the different tattoos and armor.
I think you should just pick a sub you're comfortable playing. Depending on the sub, you will get different special skills for your main, so you may want to factor that into your decision. It is a long way off however, so you have lots of time to think about it :)

Where can I find out what special skills you get for each subclass? The Library on the Official Site doesn't give very much information about subclasses.
Subclasses: if the ultimate goal is to get Hero status, which would be a more beneficial subclass - Prophet or Necro? I've been sort of leaning towards Prophet, but I tend to solo play mostly.. so is that going to be a pain to level?
Here (http://boards.lineage2.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=1103933&an=0&page=1#Post 1103933) is a link to a thread about subclasses. The second post contains links that you should read - they tell about all the different subclass skills. I think a prophet sub would be more beneficial but it is really up to you - both seem really good for MP management, it's just how you want to play.
I just made level 74 last week. I am planning to go Gladiator. TK can not do much damage so I want a DD. I find archers boring and already have a SPS. Also the orc classes seem so un-elf like. I just find LE with 2h sword or fists wrong. I have a friend who is a gladdie and looks like a fun class. It does good damage and has a nice ranged attack.
Also as a TK, I have all the heavy armours needed and just need to make the duals. When CT2 comes, the duals for all grades except S, will be relatively cheap to make. Hope this helps.

I was thinking about that too - not having to get any other armor - would save some adena. It's a good thing I have so much time to think about this... this is a tough decision!
