i think when people say a server is dead its an exaggeration but that doesnt mean it is a bogus opinion.
servers have been hitting Normal and Heavy status less than say, around the time the last update came out(looking at bartz/teon/franz since the other servers never get past Light).
does that mean the avg amount of people logged in is more diverse or is there actually less people playing?
i think, merger of server from #1 to #4 and merger of sever from #5 to #8 is highly needed to keep playability on pointed server. with online of 600-800 concurrent player it is possible to find nobody... franz is usually normal in nights (from ~00.00 to ~13.00 Moscow time). it's european server so online peak is in european evenings... nothing wonderful here. bartz online dynamics makes me be anxious about it. bartz loses ppl very fast. it's very bad and demonstrative tendency. so this tendency allows inclusion of barts to merger process. sadly.
It's true Val. It seems on some servers some players cheated their way to the top only to find no one was there (lmao).
Everyone cheats Drak, come on, stop with the "only high levels do it!!111".
You and I both know there are cheaters in your guild, in my guild, in every guild in L2.. and we may never find em, but we arent so naive as to think they arent there... are we?
L2 is dieing for 2 years already(since i play).i having most fun ever in teon now
talks about 'l2 is dying' i hear from the first day i first time discovered L2 community sites/forums. this whine has strong source of continously decreasing servers population. sadly, but this tendency cannot be disputed. it's objective reality - servers population decreases. i think, nc korea discovered this fact (after 4.5 yeras after launch there LOL) so they doing some steps to allow casual player reach more and faster. for example, new vitality/dynamics system which can be fully usable only by casuals who spend in game around 2 hours and maybe not every day. also some steps to make quests more profitable and more XP/SP significant, instance dungeons, somehow increased drops rates, improved mobs ect. also we will have Gracia. i think, new continent will be different from existing ground to reflect new idea of take care on casual players. i don't think older grounds will be changed greatly. they seem to be experiment of new drops/mobs system... and, well, ncfost never takes care on older mobs/lands.
i think, this changes can really renew the game, make it more newbie friendly and casual player friendly. this will be great new impulse to push L2 back on the way of success.
mate ppl leave L2 because of many reasons.
i bet that high % of players that leave on light servers is lack on competition.1 ally dominate all.some of that ally quit for boredom and other ppl quit because that ally sufocate them.
is very easy to get 76+ on active clan.majority of light servers dont have a ton of clan with alot of activity like happen in heavy servers or in korea servers
i agree, this is also strong reason, but it is sequent from pointed prombled of unfriendly to casuals environment.
what does casual want? he/she wants: fun, some xp, some pvp, some communication and some result.
what does casual gets from l2? grinding, grinding, a bit of communication about grinding, a bit of pvp when he/she loses most of that day grinding result, in other words: no result. communication anyone can do using MSN/ICQ/skype and other services to make friends. and that services are usually free or don't cost EUR13/month. i think, EUR13/month is hell much for even very good-looking chat if we consider L2 as a chatting system (with very tiny chatting features btw).
so the chain is: casual players get unsatisfied -> they quit -> concurrent online decreases -> it decreases until it feels abandonment -> hardcore players get bored because of no targets -> hardcore players quit -> rest of players spend rest of interest on dead servers where nothing happens -> slowly, one-by-one they get bored and quit -> server is quite empty. game over.
and x servers are empy) are based on more assumption than fact.
There was a site with online counters for every server...
The online count was around 1500-2100 for 6 of the servers, then there was hinde (i think) with 3k bratz with 3600ish and teon/franz on 4000-5500.
Then when server transfers came every server except teon/franz took a real dirt nap in online count. 7 servers had less or around 1k players online. Bartz had 2k
A week after that the site dissappeared.. 'Someone' did not want us to see that.
You and I both know there are cheaters in your guild, in my guild, in every guild in L2.. and we may never find em, but we arent so naive as to think they arent there... are we?
Prove it. We aggressively pursue any accusations that a member of our clan is violating EULA. Quite a few "nice" people have been kicked to the curb because they cheated.
You might be happy knowing there are cheaters in your guild you can't do anything about, but I'm not.
How can you tell they're not running Radar? They dont have modified chat colors? Zoomhack? Thats just a few things that are _extremely_ hard to detect unless you can see their screen or they tell you they're using that stuff.
Or how about IG Walker? They can play live like the rest of us but use it for that little bit of an edge.

even if he/she says about usage of such things, you still can't be sure if he/she doesn't tell lie. some people thinks it's cool or '1337' if they use such things but actually they too newbie to use it.

probably you never had such automated person in your clan. players who uses such things are easy to detect if you have this problems once. :p

No. I have a lot of faults but being naive isn't one of them.
Certainly no matter what cross section you sample you will find those who violate the Eula.
The question for me is "to what degree to various levels break the Eula?".
It doesn't seem to be equal. The capacity and example of people cheating who are 76+ is far above some guy who is level 25 and has been playing for 4 weeks.
Can you find cheaters everywhere? Absolutely and of course.
Of the sum total who intentionally cheat, are they a) over lvl 70 or b) under level 70?
We don't know for sure. My personal guess is that those who cheat that are over lvl 70 outnumber those under by 3 or 4 to 1.
End of the day you are right Ashane. My post seemed to single out higher players and they probably don't deserve that. After all, before long I actually may HIT lvl 70! (lol)

You just did prove it.
They've been in your guild. Nice people you even said.
Grats you kicked them, want a cookie? You think some of those "other" nice people who saw you kick the ones who were botting didnt take notice and be more careful?
Jesus, you people are pretty **** dense you know?
I know there isnt any botters in my guild (to the best of my knowledge). I know there isnt any ebayers in my guild (to the best of my knowledge).
Does that mean its NOT happening? Of course its happening! I just dont know about it yet.
Merge them all and L2 is dying and all is going to the poopers, and please Luna is doomed.
Man this is all I read on this forum.
It might help keep more existing players and get more new ones if people can get time cards without running around and getting frustrated trying to find one.
I can just see the advertising slogan "Lineage II provides the most grind for your dollar! Get it today!"
OK, I'm being facetious. But in all seriousness, I think advertising alone might not be sufficient. New players would have such a long way to go in this game just "to get within distance" of veteran players, much less catch up to them. And I'm thinking that would hurt the effort big in the NA market. AFAIK, in most other MMO games, new players can catch up to veterans in a few months, naybe a year.
I will give NC credit for trying in many ways, to make things easier for incoming players. And I agree with those things, by and large. But could they ever do enough to fit up with a mass marketing campaign in the NCNA market?
I actually bought the game because of the box. I havent found a box OR a time card since. I did go to a local Gamestop recently, actually the place I got my copy, and asked if they had Linegae 2. The clerk never even heard of L2. That ain't right! He looked it up for me, to see if another Gamestop had it and the closest store that had one was an 8 hour drive away.
For some reason, though, I thought you could use ANY NCsoft time card on ANY NCsoft game? I HAVE found other NCsoft game time cards, can't think of what atm, but I have found them, and recently.

Yeah, any NC time card can be used for any NC game...and I think you can even use them for buying 'premium' things from their 'free to play' games like Dungeon Runners as well.
What i think would be interesting :
Teon / Franz / Bartz remain.Luna will open so 4servers with Luna.
and then all other American servers merge to one...
actually thanks to a little program i use (which i wont disclose due to possibility of getting banned) most NA servers have on average about 800 +/- players. However Teon and Franz have about 4200 +/- players each so it really depends where you play
not everyone turns a blind eye to botters Ferst, now that you're on Bartz get used to encountering ppl that will report botters unlike on Kain were only a very small minority does so..
Yeah, I find it funny the guy that does the right thing by reporting those who are cheating is called ****** just because unfortunately NCSoft doesn't do anything.

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Drak, im not on bartz
NA is bad at it and very slow yea, but the one that dont care is you.
I gave up caring when i had to compete for my spots againest bots starting in c2/c3 and you petition them for 30 days straight and their there 24/7 every day and nothing happens
U want to know how many times i was petitioned by wartags for "botting" when my clan was 100% legit? i had a good 30-35 gm windows within a month as the highest, it was scum like u.
Oh and yea, petitioning does do nothing. Reporting on the website, does alot more.
It is not people like me that report other for botting due to other reasons.
I could care less about internal game politics, actually i have a higher habit of reporting my own clan/alliance members then other clans member due to the simple fact that i have had a chance to usually party or be around these people more frequently.
So before you continue to point the "scum of this world" finger at someone that is far beyond that of being the scum your refering to, i'd suggest making sure before you do so. AS your own post is an indication of what you so hate yourself.
