Actually about this event, it should be made into a permanent feature since people who have yet to subclass wouldn't be able to swap (which means they're stuck with their mainclass.)
Or maybe bring it in once a year as an event. After all, noone 'should' be able to raise their sub to be higher than their main in less than a year or so, right?

Sucks I will be forced to change to my Fortune Seeker's subclass because they have become a forgotten class of NCSoft.
I don't believe anyone is forcing you to do anything. In fact, some people think it is a good thing to be different, rather than trying to be like everyone else.
Its fun to be different but its not fun to be forgotten. With every new update we get no new cool spoils/skills that makes us more unique. We get level 85 mobs that spoil C grade only mats like metal hardeners.. Yippie ill use that never and not even cost effective to put into a sell shop to make money off of. In fact you lose more money in shots getting that crap spoil then u can sell it for. Every Rec above mid A grade is quest only all top A weapon parts are quest only all weapon armor parts above low S grade are quest only none of the new S80 Mats are spoilable none of the life stone/attribute stones are spoilable theres no point in leveling a fortune seeker over mid 70 because you will get no better spoils off 80+ mobs that you get off 70+ mobs. You can no longer kill enough mobs aoe w/ the VR nerf to make it better then killing mobs 1 at a time and even then ur dmg is so gimp is laughable. You are forced to party with other DD's to get xp but the higher level you get the less you have to offer in the way of spoils to make a party want you. God forbid they give us a AoE sweep since in some locations its impossible to target dead mobs with the size of living mobs overthem. If the /target mob doesnt target the dead on you want your out of luck. I loved my class when I started it and the only thing that may keep me from changing sub to main is sentimental reasons. It just sucks that the class has nothing to offer end game like it does at lower levels.

i'll just add that some top A weapon parts can be spoil at HB... and tons of met fibers too... NCSoft dev didn't thought about spoil table since ages...

manor system, spoil included in loot party system, olympiad joke, useless skills, totally [censored] spoil tables, stun effects (like cancel target effect on Stun Shot) for other classes but dorfs, landrate of dorfs's stun decreased, lots of items/set against stun, some chronicle without new skills, and so on...

it was true when ppl needed B or A grade, few chronicles ago (i 'll tell C2/C3, maybe C4), but at C4/C5 ppl prefered to lvl faster instead of thinking about S gears coz it was/is faster to ebay than invite a BH/FS to have mats.
And now, ppl have already S grade so, they don't really need a FS, coz FS is totally useless to farm S80 mats. And of course we came back to a time where FS are useless to XP.
U have to understand that when ppl have their gears, they don't want spoiler in their party anymore. They want to xp fast, nothing else, and a FS is useless to xp fast.
So yes, spoil included in the loot system is the bigger nerf to a class only having an economic side. The biggest nerf is the manor system.

Aghen has spoiled tons of drac shafts from scorpions (none for him xD), and top A from sandstorms and wandering caravans. My theory is that the deeper you get in HB the better the spoils become, maybe even s80 parts/mats in the innermost areas. Lets hope it is so, but Aghen will let you know i'm sure. I think he is the only FS to have gotten on HB !
the front mobs's "sweeprate" is awful...
when it's sweepable, mobs give IC parts. the mobs with natives gives tateo parts (for the summoner) and the other one gives 1 mold lub, around 20 met fibers (and maybe S arrows rec, i don't remember well).
desert scorpions give major arcana circlet parts / drac bow shaft / S arrow rec
wandering caravans : high grade suede / 2 differents best A weapon part (don't remember which)
sandstorms : 2 differents best A weapon part (don't remember which)
arcane guardians : high grade suede (nothing else)

Does not seem like it. Seems to be a chance to exchange the lvl 75 subclass skill (the skill you get on your main) for free, instead of paying the 10m you usually would have to pay to change it.
I'm confused, I thought we would be able to switch out main to our sub and sun to main.. Not swap one sub for another? Like if my main is a 75 Storm Screamer and my sub is a 78 Titan I would be able to have my main my 78 Titan and my sun 75 Storm Screamer? I liked playing a STS but I don't anymore I hate leveling it that is why its 3rd classed and only 75 I just delevel it when I pvp because I don't want to level it. I enjoy my Titan and was hoping we would be able to swap them? Or did I read something wrong somewhere and I just hoped for something that wasn't coming?
There are two different subclass "events." The one mentioned in the Hellbound Launch Events is not the subclass swap event. It's something entirely different and separate. :)

if your sub is 75 you can choose it as your new main class
if your sub (the one you choose as your new main) is a different class/race your toon will change and look like it would had this been your main class
if your main class is overlord or warsmith you cant use this event
if you have more than 1 subclass over 75 you can choose any one as your new main
all levels remain as they were
eg.
78 Doomcrier with 75 Bladedancer and 75 Bounty Hunter subclasses decides to swap and make bounty hunter his main class he will now be a dwarf in appearance, main class Bounty Hunter 75, Subs 78 Doomcryer and 75 Bladedancer.
If however you are a Doomcryer with a 75 bladedancer and a 75 elven elder subs you cant do this event (cause then you d be a de with a le sub or vice versa)
LOL Thanks for the warning and my OL and my AW share as mains and i will say cool event but if i was elegible on my AW i'd pass cuz i don't like the whole race change as well as class thing so i'll stay with how it is.
Woulda been cool though to have a Light Elf with a main class of Tyrant like how in a pic i've found with a Light Elf wearing fists but guesse they stay like how it is now :(

Isnt it too obvious? You keep the level of each class.

This does makes sense but it also means that those who will make use of the main/sub change will not be able to participate with the "Subclass Skill Certificate Exchange" event which is kind of unfair for them.

hmm hard to tell from the description, but it might be possible to get the books that you want and just store them till your main is changed then use them to learn the skills you wanted in the first place

rouge for example covers both archers & daggers, now you can not have 2 archers or 2 daggers but you can sub a dagger & archer if your main is not of those class and thus being able to pick 2 lvl 75 rouge passives (different ones thou as once taken you can not take it again).
-edit- ok that wasn't the question but still the only class exceptions are the ws & ol and as you cant sub those there's nothing to worry about it from a class point of view as main/sub class combo's are the same and as such wont change by a main/sub change (except racial ones but those are pretty obvious)..

Lets say you are a Bishop main...then you sub a DA...you would not then be able to sub a Pally after that as you already have a tank. So you're asking if you would be denied switching a tank sub to your main if you have a tank second sub as well?

I started a WS in order to earn my adenas and then make a sub & play the character that i like...
But now NCsoft pushes players to play their main chars only (with lvl cap and additional skills from sub)...
It's very nice that someone can swap main and sub class but its UNFAIR for some people like me with WS or OL for main char....
Just because the NCsoft programmers when they developed the dwarfs they programmed them in a different manner than the other characters and now a switch is not possible, that means i have to pay for their faults???

can you make it possible to delete your main class?
i mean im aware that by the ruleset ols arent subable and therefore this event should not allow a constallation that makes the overlord a subclass. however i find it highly unfair for maestros/ dominators who want to evolve in their subs.
my suggestion:
please make an option to completely remove your current main class and make the sub your main.
in my particular situation i am a lvl 76 dominator and havent played the domi (outside of sieges and some pvp) for over 2 years now.
i chose my subclass (level 80 spectral master) as something i wanted to play and im madly in love with. now i see that i cant evolve on that class maybe for years to come.
so please please please give me (us) an additional option to just kill the main (instead of swiching) and play the sub as your new main.
hmm...so far, i always have MP issues on my main, MM class. I have been in a dilemia to change my class to EM class ever since i have come across this event.
Shld i stay as MM or switch to EM?
i m already 78 on MM n it is really a pain to lvl even with my 77 SE. Always have to consider her weak pdef, and MP issues, etc etc. Only thing good abt them is pvp. Fast kill...or ironically...fast to be killed.

For those who plan to change their sub to main would be nice to benefit the current event as everyone else and not have to lose the books or skills learned after changing your sub to main. I'm sure you guys can figure out a way for people not to abuse the system without having to forbid those who change their sub to main of having the skills of preference that is given at the current event. If you guys are nice enough to give us an event where we can choose any skill we want from the sub skills, I'm sure you can come up with a better solution other than making it as if this event never happened for those who change their subs to main. Please there must be something else you guys can do for those who are planning on changing their subs to main to carry out or obtain the skills of preference once we change over sub to main.
Maybe not enough people have addressed this issue enough for you guys to look at, but if any GM that is reading think this makes any kind of sense please do something about it.

I find it INCREDIBLY unfair that those with WS or OL as main cannot take part in this event. Why should ONLY Maestros and Domis be penalised... especially when you look at the type of class they are, both not the easiest to level!
We have seen from the current event where we can choose subclass skills from other classes that it is possible to make exceptions and bend the rules a bit, so why this ridiculous restriction that OLs and Maestros cannot change their main to sub!?
Many many dwarves that manage to get to noble play their subs as main, this in fact is more normal than playing the dwarf to a higher level.
PLEASE PLEASE reconsider, and include ALL classes in this event, I feel really sad my Eva's Saint cannot progress in the way others can due to my main being Maestro. No more discrimination! >.<
Hmm... Currently I have the character that I very like to play. My opinion has changed suddenly and now I don't feel any need to switch my main to something. Anyway, I think, this offer is very needed. Sadly that it too late, but it's better to be late than never. That some classes gets restriction, but actually you cannot sub some classes and this system is not a cheat system. If you cannot have OL and WS on sub, you can't switch it. I can realize why OLs are unhappy. They got 'balanced' with ncsoft's methods... But I can't realize why someone is unhappy playing WS. Yes, you can't just wtfpwn everything, but you can sub any class excluding OL.

Actually current (and never changed) sub-class system makes no sense. I can understand if LE classes can't pick DE classes. This is acceptable according their legend. I understand why kamaels can sub kamaels only according to kamael legend. But other restrictions look ridiculous.
1) Why are we unable to pick a job of same path (within nukers/dagger/archers)? This looks pretty stupid. I like play nukers. If nuker is my main job, I was glad to pick nucker once more to correct some errors.
2) Why are we unable to pick a job of DE being LE and vise versa? It's understandable legend, but the game is something other. This game is not about separation of some races. Even if you're a kamael you need buffs/heals to play in comfort. Actually there is no antagonism between LE's and DE's. So why is this option disabled? This has no logic.
3) OL and WS problems. Actually I can't understand it now and I didn't understand it ever. Why is it criminal if someone sub OL or WS? What did this resolution trigger? I can't get it. It is the most strange part of sub-class system currently...

You can't sub a Warsmith ecause no sane Dwarf would share the trade secrets of this class with the filthy Humans, the mentally challenged Orcs, or the magic-loving Elves and Dark Elves.
(Unfortunate exceptions excluded. On that note, 10M adena for anyone who brings me the proof of the final and irreversible death of a cetrain Dark Elf named "Karrod".)
You shouldn't be able to sub Bounty Hunters as a non-Dwarf either. However, the current leadership of that guild is kinda ... eh, let's just say, a bit over-enthusiastically opportunistic. A shame, really.
Though Warsmiths should be an available sub-class for Bounty Hunters, really. As should Overlords be available to any Orc.

You can. just pay the NPC 10m to remove the sub class skills and go and get the new books on your new sub class after you have made your main to sub change.
What you won't be able to do is to choose special books from other classes like you can with this event.
Honeslty ppl need to stop complaining about not being able to trade the special skill books with other classes books when they can change a sub into their main.
I bet there are many WS/OL that is sad about not being able to switch main with sub, but I don't see them complain here like the ones that won't be able to trade special skill books.

That's nothing beside talks etc. This legends are ridiculous in L2 environment. It doesn't render any L2 facts, it's more like some sort of fan's fiction, not official legend. This strange restrictions has no other effect than impede players from getting fun.

If you change your sub to main, you can pick new subclass-related skills. Your old skill just will be wiped and you can get learn new. Yes, you will be unable to trade certificates, but you can still pick skill than related to your new subclass. Yes, this is a little unfair, and people, who don't change anything, have some advantage. It's better if they place back the cat.
We'll let you know when we're getting closer to the event time period, but that isn't the case yet. Our purpose of letting everyone know that this event is coming much farther in advance than we normally do is so that those who wish to participate have time to prepare. I don't mean to be vague, but it isn't for awhile still. I know there are a lot of questions surrounding this event--we'll do our best to answer those questions when we get closer to the event period.
Also, to answer some of the inquiries about the Choose Your Destiny event versus the current subclass skill event, they aren't meant to go together. The current event is meant for those who do not intend to participate in the Choose Your Destiny event, and vice versa.
not trying to give you a hard time here Alyra here but Korea had this event right after Kamael Plus - Hellbound went live on their servers so what's the delay or will ours be slightly different then what they had ?
When have NA ever did added something the same time as Korea. The devlopers are in korea not NA so it takes a little longer over here. have patients my friend ;)
Ashley the time difference in the events is normally equal to like the mayor releases and as Korea had their K+ (Hellbound) quite a while ago and we have Hellbound now also for almost a Month it makes one wonder as the event in Korea took place right after their Hellbound go live date..
1 + 1 = 2 hence my question if the delay is due to the fact ours will be slightly different then the one Korea had like allowing WS/OL's to participate as well etc.. or if it's just due to NA NC Soft being understaffed or w/e..
Which goes right back 2 the fact it talks a little longer in NA.........I don't get it you seam to understand it but at the same time don't understand it.
Stop comparing Korea to NA becasue it's not the same. I bet Korea don't have 1/2 the TEXT errors in game that we do. So big deal that we have Hellbound now......they copy still better then ours.
So no telling what is making the event take longer to make happen............. the fact is it's going take longer.
Be happy that it's coming you could be stuck with the main you pick in the first place (NC didn't pick it) and never get the event but it's not like that........ It's coming just not now. ;)
hopefully they will hold this event again for a week or so during the Choose your destiny event. They've extended it 1 week which was nice! ty! just not very fair that ppl that love their sub more than their main wont get to participate in this event like others do.
/bump it has been 6 weeks now since Hellbound/K+ went live and as the original poster said Korea had this done the very first week that it went live at their side..
We'll let you know when we're getting closer to the event time period, but that isn't the case yet. Our purpose of letting everyone know that this event is coming much farther in advance than we normally do is so that those who wish to participate have time to prepare. I don't mean to be vague, but it isn't for awhile still. I know there are a lot of questions surrounding this event--we'll do our best to answer those questions when we get closer to the event period.
Also, to answer some of the inquiries about the Choose Your Destiny event versus the current subclass skill event, they aren't meant to go together. The current event is meant for those who do not intend to participate in the Choose Your Destiny event, and vice versa.
I dont think you understand the situation, the current event is meant to help people who have the wrong subclasses get useful skills, because it was never implied that we had to chose our subclasses carefully to match our mains.
As NC decided to change the nature of the subclass system I asume they were nice enough to at least make it so that our chars arent completely ruined by introducing these two events or perhaps they did it to prevent and angry mob of koreans marching on ther HQ with pitchforks and torches.
Whatever the motivation one event can not in the name of fairness go without the other, a lot of people want to be able to continue to progress on their favored subclass rather than their obsolete main, ergo why the Chose your destiny event was created, however these people may have inappropiate mains like oh say for example a SR who wishes to be a main class cardinal. If this player is not allowed to change his skills to something at least marginably useful to a cardinal then he faces the exact situation the event was designed to prevent in the first place.
I'll be the last person to stick up for NCSoft but they did say "coming this summer". Summer = June 20th in North America so try not to get too worked up just yet. Its coming soon (im sure thats trademarked by nc :P)
usually when NC soft tells us about an event its like 2-4 weeks away... its been over a month and not even a set date yet... korea had this event the first week of hellbound, looks like we might be closer to gracia by the time this happens...

I don't want to play the NCsoft fanboy here, but what is so hard to understand about "it is still a long time away, we will tell you when we have set a date"?
Alyra said there is no date yet. She said it will be some time in summer. It is not summer yet (summer starts June 21st). Start complaining when we have reached the end of summer and the event has not been announced yet :)
Although some info from Alyra (or anyone at ncsoft) would be kinda nice, they've given you more info and more advance notice for this upcoming event than any they ever had. I think its a nice change to see this from ncsoft, even if they don't have an exact date released yet. Take the announcement literally, summer starts June 20th in North America :p (and stop making me defend ncsoft)
you guys are missing the point as there's no explanation given why this event is being delayed in NA, "this summer" when it was done in the same week in Korea has a huge time gap..
btw if that comment about teenagers was meant for me you're so wrong as I'm 30+ and have a nice full time job at a large US Corp., one in which you will lose customers if you gave them vague New Product Introduction announcements as "Coming this Summer"

obviously I do as I want to be able to compete in Oly & benefit of all my subs by getting those passives on my SwM and I bet I'm not the only one..

Yes, it is actually very good that they still give us lots of time to prepare for the event. I have a clannie who wants to switch one of his subs to main, but it is not high enough yet - so every additional day until the event arrives gives him more time to lvl up that sub :)
the first time it's an event and after that it becomes a service as thats how it is done in Korea so there's no need to rush on lvling your subs as such..
judging from the feedback I got in pm's with Alyra & Siren and the just announced mergers they decided to make that their number 1 priority awhile ago before working on this which in hind sight I can understand seeing the impact the later has..
once the dust settles from the mergers we should be able to get more info on this so yeah even though I hate it patience is a virtue..
Yes, good point. I guess the server merges will be quite messy, so they better spend their time preparing those than on some event which only affects a few players.
level subclass? my toon is 79 on current main and 78 on the subclass of my choice. i can't see any problems. moreover, in korea they had this event running for long enough time, and they planned another run for this event sometime till october of this (2008) year. everyone just can't do a sub till deadline comes. people who missed this run, will participate the next.
and don't say something like: "you are heartless, i need just 1.5 levels to unseal a sub".
i say: "don't be a hypocrite, there are a lot of people who are 1-2 lvl close till 76 of their beloved sub. if we continue waiting for everyone, we can find time for this event only when this game has no users".

would love to have an answer to this as well but I'm realistic enough that right now while they're dealing with the mergers they won't bother commenting on this until that is done
CDT is UTC-5. CEST is UTC+2. That means there's a six hour difference between central Europe and the central US (because summer makes math go wierd...). :D
If Rome and Paris are 5:46 PM...and Houston is 10:46 AM...and it's Saturday in all three cities...then there's actually 7 hours of difference between CEST and CDT...I really need to stop doing things when I'm tired.
Back on the topic.....It's 26 th June and STILL no news on this event....Are we gonna have to wait for the merges before anything else? :( :( :( :eek:

if they want to open t2.1 pts in july... then sub-to-main event will run from 15 july to 29 july... maybe till 5 august... or, if they're so lazy to install t2.1 on live server, till 12 august... but it is not realistic. so, 2 weeks of this event... maybe 3...

Earlier this year, we announced that an event called Choose Your Destiny would be coming to the European and North American servers. The wait is almost over! On July 15, 2008 , this unique event will begin and allow qualified players to permanently swap your main class with one of your subclasses. Read on for more details.
This event is very nice and I want to try it out. I have only one concern though. I'm not noblesse yet, can I apply for the event ? I read the event page, but didn't see any info on that .. Also I assume that if I want to change sub to main, my quest for noblesse from sub will be deleted, and I would have to start over ? Any answer is appreciated :)

You need to be atleast 75 on main and 75 on sub to do this.
nah, the main and the sub must be in 75...80 range. if your current main is higher than 80, sorry, there's no cookie for your. :p
i assume u can dlvl the main to get in range. they didn't say anything except it has to be 80 max.
(maybe +++ some skills w/o being sad about losing xp for once :) )

They work too much. They informed us a month before server merger occurs. Now the things may flow as they can. Everything comes back to its own circles... So next announcement they will show us a day before the event goes live...
