Evolved Baby Pets

I hope this is some sort of joke my level 80 and 100% baby buffalo evolved is now level 55?
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahhahahhhahhaah :)

I am so glad I didn't pay like 50m or so for one. It shoudl take like 2 weeks to get one to 55 :).

On a sidenote, what buffs do they give?
Flayer, I just inquired about this, and found that the baby pets do indeed evolve when they are evolved; however, the new lower-level evolved baby pet you have now is much more powerful than your old level 80 one was, even with the level difference. It's similar to how the wolves drop levels when they are evolved, but they become stronger.
LOL level 1 buff with 2 min timer only thing i got was might level 1 off mine. :(
in another word, this is just a scam... GG NCSoft !!
Naa not a scam lol unless you paid 50+ mil for a level 80 one thinking it would stay level 80. I wouldnt have expected such a drastic drop, but still before ct1 you could power level one to 80 in one or two days. Now its a bit harder because of the 12 level limit thingy...

Their healing power should be much better as evolved.

I still can't stop laughing though!
LOL - again NC gave us the big screw. with the level difference how are you supposed (besides transfering it to a lower toon) get it back up to your level.
Level it on a sub, or at least until it is 11 levels lower than you...

55+11=66

So you have to be 66 or below for it to get 10% exp from you and level normally.

If youre 78 you would need to level it on a sub until 78-11=67, then level it with the main.

It's a pain, but doable...Much better than a wolf or stryder that takes away 40% exp and still levels about the same.

that info should have been in the release notes.......
My 74 did drop to 55 too. This it not like the wolf.
beside that the buffs last like 1-2 mins then fade also the new food they need cost also 1300+ adena.

Beside that why pets at lvl 55 dont loose exp for evolve while higher ones do ?
This stays still unfair.
oh ffs

hilarity ensues.
Makes one wonder what other "surprises" are still out there for people to find out eh?

I have grown accustomed to these limited release notes.
Goes for unknown bugs too. Or know ones that make it to live for that matter.

Communication/information is key here but I am starting to sound like a broken record again.

Because the minimum level to be evolved is 55. Thats not to say you cant de-level it, just that it cannot actually do the transformation unless its 55.

Also, you can still level it if your 70+, just put it in the group. I know they say its 20 levels, but thats a load of crap. It will level.
For what it's worth, I am asking for more info on this (why it was designed this way, and why it wasn't in the patch notes), and asking that it be double checked to make absolutely sure it's working as intended. I'll let you know what I find out.
thats worth more than we thank you for.
Just found out the cougar is now petty worthless for me.
Before he was used to heal me and i could do body to mind to regen mp faster.
Now he dont heal or recharge mp only gives out emp lvl 1 and might lvl 1 that last 1,5 mins.

Can i have my lvl 74 cougar back ? That way it will be usefull now its really lame food cost much more and gives less hunger gauge back and the pet gains like 0,4% from a kill that gives 10k exp.
Ah ha ha priceless!
not to speak about the xp i did not get by lvleing this pet to 80 ...

this should have really stand in the patch notes - i wouldnt have evolved it ...
ooooh.

Buff every 2 mins....

Go pull a room in a cata..... guess what the stupid animal does.... uh huh. Full agro.

Empower 1 didnt save it's life.
Petition Reply:
We would like to inform u that if a pet get evolve, it will lose some levels (haha some...). However, your pet has been improved (aha?). This is as per the game design. Please feel free to to petition in case u have any other game related issues.....
LOL - I vote this "Feature" for the BEST BEND OVER AND TAKE award.
for those that took it, yeah. i agree.

i know a few who havent augmented weapons, and who dont have elemental attacks/defence bonuses from stones for the simple reason its a money sink.
I want my 80 pet back everyone that evolves the pet 55-80 get a 55 evolved pet back this is so broken.

Being completely honest - good luck with that.
Stop whining! It's an addition! I don't understand why NCsoft give you all kind of new things and you keep whining!

:)
Just to clarify, when the pets evolve do they still heal as well as give buffs? Thank you for the information.
64 chicken head pet evolved to 55 one gives bts and a 2 mins empo every 2 mins and heals doesnt seem to give mp tho
does the new buffs stack with regular might and empower? If so then its great
No
What buffs do the pets actually give you? Are they the same for all pets?
So let me clarify a little. Your baby pet and evolved pet have the same exact amount of exp. It did not lose exp at all. If you evolved your pet you did not lose any work.

How about an example:

Baby pet at level 80 is 20,000 exp.
Evolved pet at level 55 is 20,000 exp.

This is the same exact thing that happened with the wolf when evolved.

Now whether you like the evolved version better than the baby version is a different story, but no exp was lost from any pet by evolving it.

Hope that helps
Does this mean all evolved pets have a max level of 55? I was listening to shout and someone who had a 56 pet evolved to level 55. And the OP's pet evolved from 80 to 55. Thanks.

I just find it hard to believe a level 80 baby pet and a level 55 baby pet(not evolved) have the same xp where they would both evolve to a 55 improved pet. You would think a 55 baby pet would be say a 25 evolved improved pet.

Spam,

Further clarification please....

Does that mean that a level 80 pet actually needs so much less exp, that it delevels to 55?

Thats worded weird I know but, do the previous 25 levels of pet exp it gained as a baby pet, not even translate into *1* level of evolved exp? (There, that was better!)

If so, holy hell... ;P I know they were easy to level, but, thats pretty crazy.

My thinking on that is, the *minimum* it has to be to be classified as a "evolved" pet is 55... therefor, it has to be 55.

Much like to get a subclass, you need to be 75. If you delevel to 74 after you've gotten the subclass, it dosent just disappear...
so theres no difference between a lvl 80 baby pet and lvl 55 one since they all will be 55 evolved?
My baby chicken lvl 55 evolved to lvl 55 buffa ;) gives empower 2min buff lvl 1 and a min or so later gave 20 min bts lvl 2
then 1 min or so after emp dropped he finally rebuffed.
Just so ya know but it is def. ******ed that the lvl 80 pets got there butts gang *****...
another NCsoft fked up lol

GOT OWnED by NcSoft XD

Just to clarify, when the pets evolve do they still heal as well as give buffs? Thank you for the information.

Yes they still heal .... a whole lot better as well. Just had my evolved cougar out and healed me for 345 and 385 reg heals and 415 greater heal. actually was kind of useful ....

To be honest. I find it very strange that people with high lvl pets get screwed for there hard work they did before while people that lvl now pets dont loose anything because they evolve them at 55.
That happenend to me with my lvl 60 wolf last update that was lvld the old way that took a lot more time and patience and now with the cougar.

Its complete poitless that lvl 55 pets dont loose lvls/exp while lv 56+ pets do loose lvls/exp on evolve. If they have to loose exp then delevel the lvl 55 pets too because they have a lot less exp.

To the questions on heal i had my cougar out yesterday on my SH.
I did body to mind till my hp was dropped to 120hp he didnt heal me. I also decreased mp while hunting he did not recharge mp because i thought maybe he recharges mp if i play mystic class.

What you're saying is that a 55 baby pet has the same XP as an 80 baby pet. Both can be evolved to a 55 Improved pet.

How is that NOT a loss of XP ? Are you trying to say that a 55 baby has the same XP as an 80 baby ? How did the 80 baby get to 80 from 55 ? Erm... yeah... it needed to suck XP from it's master. What happens to the XP earned by the baby pet from 55 to 80 ?

What Spam is saying is that the xp needed for an unevolved baby pet to level 80 is the same amount if xp needed for an evolved pet to not hit 56.

I did not evolve my baby pet right away after I saw a pick of the new look. Then clannie did his and stated it was now 55. This really is making me not evolve mine.

Oh and Spam you might want to rethink the numbers you have used for your example. If 20K xp was all it need to be level 80 mine would have been 80 in 4 mobs. But I do have a question then. If I do evolve my baby and it drops to level 55 would it be @ 0% as well?
I would just like to Thank everyone for this Post. Took me 2 weeks on my WC (don;t know how people do it in 2 to 3 days) to get my Cougar to lvl 80. And to find out NC Soft messed up yet again and made them evolve to lvl 55 no matter what high lvl it is? Priceless

a lvl 55 Cougar turn into a 55 evolved
a lvl 74 Cougar turn into a 55 evolved
a lvl 80 Cougar turn into a 55 evolved

You tell me Spam How the Hell is that fair?

I was mad about my wolf but a lest it was just a different XP ladder and I got a Much better wolf in the end.

a lvl 55 wolf turn into a 55 evolved
a lvl 71 wolf turn into a 66 evolved
a lvl 72 wolf turn into a 67 evolved

That my friend is fair

Now the Cougar just turns 55. With lame buffs. Thanks for the Info I will keep mine White at lvl 80 and a Big help to my SH. :p
Just a question, when u de-evolve pet back through "additiona-pet-helper npc", will it become lvl80 again?

*lucky, was too lazy to evolve yesterday* )
I never evolved my lvl 80 cougar. and after reading all this I'm not till they fix it.

You cant deevolve pets ( maybe wolf is an exception i think i saw u could trade back).
The only ones are the clanhall ones back to normal pets because if you loose the clanhall you cant use the clanhallpets ( snowwold, red strider, ect. ) anymore.
Beisde that if i could trade my baby cougar back i would but i bet it will be lvl 55 then and not 74 anymore.
Need to update sig it's still Cougar: Kimba lvl 74 ;)
Done
The level loss sucks, but I do have to say that the heals are awfully nice! Seems to use about 70 mana, but the pet gets it back fast and heals my lvl70 toon for almost 430hp a pop (with bsps on). Hopefully the buffs will improve as the pet levels up...

That's a point of view. The pet didn't lose XP. But... it wasted the XP of the character who gave their 10%.
You would have XPed your cougar evolved from 55, for the same 10% it would have reached a better level. Not 80, sure, but better than staying at 55.
I was lucky, I had a feeling that the pets would delvl, so I only took my cougar to 56 prior to update.

Get buffs might1, emp1 every 3mins and last for 2mins each.
Heals for 385, and 422 (greater heal), heal rate was good in battle situation, have not tested btm.
Can't use old food, or that pitiful armor.
New food is used at a higher rate than old food.
Pdef is up, Mdef is down, so pet can now take a couple of melee hits before dying, and still 1 shot death in VoS from flashes

As cougars are mixed use buffers, buffalos melee, and kookaburra mage, can someone tell me what buffs kookaburras/buffalos give plz?

All in all I like the evolution, and hope it leads to better things for the pets in the future.
evolved buffalos 55 give might lvl1 for 2 minutes and btb lvl2 for 20 minutes
Okay the new pets is quite awesome.

The heal warry from 345 to 422 AND it have a heal dot who heal for another ~400 or so, so yes thats correct one single heal from it heal between 700-900 HP. Only downside is that it usually cast 3 heals in a row then wait 2 min to cast the next ^^.

As for XP usage... the old one was 5% the improved one eat ~25% of your XP.

Other thing to mention mine went from 74% lv 56 into 3,15% into lv 55. Also about teh armor and M.def increase, It got a hughe armor increase and about 30% M.def decrease, BUT on other hand it gained 1,5k HP on top of it. My lv 55 cougar have 2379 HP.

Also food usage is quite high now, it cost prety much the same to keep it going as a great wolf, ~30k per hour or so, so quite expensive but on other hand it may help some classes to fully solo now like BH :P gotta try it out on my main.

Baby Kook gives: BTS 2 and emp 1 (raised my lvl 60 prophets m attack by roughly 300)
Sorry Spam, but I call BS on your comment.

If it was true, then why is everyone saying that their pet went to 55 regardless of level?

Sorry Spam, but I call BS on your comment.

It's like this:

You have a coffee machine that's full of coffee (lvl 80 baby pet), and an empty cup of coffee (lvl 55 evolved baby pet).

No matter how much coffee from the machine you pour into the empty cup, it will spill over once it's fulll.

In order for a baby pet to become an evolved pet you need "x" amount of experience. Once that requirement is met, the rest is useless.

It makes sense to put it that way because baby pets are MUCH easier to level than hatchlings or wolves. I'm glad it is that way.

When they said it is exactly like a wolf they were either wrong, or they meant the part of losing levels is the same, just not the amount of experience needed to evolve.

Get it now?
The way I am seeing this - evolved baby pets are just another attempt to make buffers obsolete (except warcryers). You have two boxes, prophets in a bottle and now buffers you can summon.... Perhaps at later levels, the evolved pets will have more powerful buffs. Either way - I will still evolve mine and loose multiple levels on the pet.

Now what would be really cool - if the evolved pets became something mean looking like the pets you can raise at the beast farm. That would be awesome!! (Sorry Bill Engval for using the wrong word form for "Awesome" - LOL)

you DONT get a pocket buffer from this. sorry, but no. ONE 20 min buff, and ONE 2 min buf from either baby pet that in NO WAY compares to boxed buf***e, or boxed heals.

a lvl 55 evolved pet that heals for 400, compared to the lvl 80 pet that healed for 50, id take the 400 hp and HoT.

evolved pets are Healing potions that wont empty, and that can survive taking a hit.

whats not to love?
Sorry - was being a little sarcastic.... Actually will be nice to have a little summon like that - at least the pet wouldn't turn me down after I shout "PP LFG" for hours on end...
What % of level 55 does a level 80 baby pet evolve too? Is it just that the amount of xp required for a baby pet to get to 80 is the same amount needed to get a evolved baby pet to something like 90% of level 55?

An un-evolved baby pet is much easier to level than a wolf and requires very little xp so it makes sense that they loose more levels than the wolf (the xp ladder has a much greater difference between un-evolved and evolved for baby pets than for wolves). Obviously the amount of xp needed to reach 55 and 0% is the same for both evolved and un-evolved types.

This, combined with HGMspam's post explains the process. I did get confirmation that this is working as intended. Unfortunately, I do not have an answer regarding why it was not in our patch notes.

So, to summarize, it takes a greater amount of experience to get the new evolved baby pet from level 55 to 56 than it does to get the old one from level 1 to 80. If you evolve an old baby pet at level 80, the new one will be level 55, but you will be much closer to level 56 than someone who evolved their old baby pet at level 56. No experience is lost--it's simply a much greater amount that is needed to level up the more powerful evolved baby pets.

When I rewrite the pets section of the website in the near future, I will be sure to put in an explanation of this system.

quick question to follow that, then.

given pets can now level to 86, if one baby pet evolved at 86 what level would it become? possibly 56? possibly 57?

I hope this is some sort of joke my level 80 and 100% baby buffalo evolved is now level 55?

Good explanation ... now that u mention it when I evolved mine it had over 47% to 56 .... but 1 more question; if it takes more xp to get an improved baby pet 56 then 1 - 80 shouldn't the started buffs be at least lets say lvl 2?
When I had mine out in fotd quickly it was getting 0.01 per kill while I was getting 5-7k per mob just right at the port spot. Just an idea since it is going to require a significant more time to get them to a useful buffing level. Although I guess on the flip-side their heals are great and very useful, so like someone else said they might just be a walking effective healing pot. I have a buff box anyway so its never going to replace that. It would be useful on 1 of my nukers to have my proph buffer and get emp from the lil guy is nice.
Thanks Alyra, that cleared things a lot. Basically the evolved baby pets are on a new exp table that is much steeper that the old pets. Maybe it might even be on part with the wolves but that's just a guess until I can check things out. Still not sure if I want to evolve mine at this time because those level80+ mobs would surely 1-shoot it then. Anyone know if the level cap for the pets has also been raised?
