Dwarf Crafter Alt

Dwarf Classes Started Last reply 10 posts
Greetings All,

I have a noob question that I hope (know) you can help me with.

My wife and I have come back to L2 after a few years...been playing other MMO's, having fun, but thought we'd give L2 a spin again. We are not power levelers, by any means (2-4 hours/day), so have no dellusions of becoming max level for a long time...

My question is, is it possible to roll a dwarf alt that is just there to create equip for mine and my wife's chars, AND sit and sell SS during the long afk's that we have...18+ hours/day :)

I might be completely misunderstanding the whole concept of Dwarven AFK.

However, if my thinking is true, I'm assuming I have to obviously keep leveling my dwarf alt, in order to be able to keep up the crafting levels to match my mains levels...???

With that said, would it be better to simply level a dwarf as my main so I can play that warrior style and craft in my afk time? Currently playing a Kamael...

Thank you very much,

Hossinn
You can have up to 7 chars on one account. With the new updates coming, Warsmiths will be good at a lot of things. You will have to lvl them up a bit higher than your main, if you chose to have a different class, so they can craft those lvls. Check out the skills section of the Library for what lvl you can craft of which lvl your toon is.

It takes a special type of person to play a dwarf. Spend some time reading the posts here in the Dwarven Fighter section to see what I mean. Try it out for a bit. If you don't think it fits your play style, you can always delete it.

What server are you 2 playing on?

And, welcome back to L2!
As a pure alt, a dwarf for crafting is not terribly useful.

There are so few worthwhile crafts that can make money at lower levels, that you pretty much have to either play it as a main or sink a LOT of time into one to make it useful.

Being able to crush things for crystals and make your own shots can help reduce SS costs, but that doesn't mean that it will help you gear up or gather adena or mats any faster.

As far as selling SS goes, it can be steady income if you are afk a lot, but it takes quite some time to make before it or any other crafts can pay off noticably. (Nor does it magically allow you to afford gear...it takes effort to get it to pay off enough.)

It is however, nicely convenient if you can crush things to buy from the luxury shop, or make your own shots when all the 'cheap' shops are sold out and all that is left is the ones selling overpriced.

Warsmiths also appear to be getting some nice skill boosts next update...although it comes with a bit of a nerf/change to crafting as well.

In short, you can make as much if not more selling manored materials on your 'main' characters than you could just making SS on a dwarf, at least up to about mid B or A grade with the same amount of effort.
Very useful information. Thank you for that, and for the welcome!

From what I have learned, it's not going to be an effective choice to attempt to level a dwarf as a crafting ALT, especially with the limited amount of time I play. So...I believe my two choices are:

1) Keep playing my (currently level 11) Kamael
2) Reroll a dwarf to enjoy the fighting & crafting etc.

I've read the mixed emotions regarding rolling a Dwarf as a main. Does the fact that I ALWAYS play with my healer wife make playing a Dwarf any "better"/"easier"?

Crafting/money making aside, is the Kamael generally seen as being a more fun race to play, than the Dwarf?

Thanks again for help,

Hoss
That was my idea exactly. I created a dwarf alt to make DSS then another to spoil mats and finally my two dwarves became my main characters!

About the healer I suggest an elf or dark elf healer because they can recharge mana which is very useful for any dwarf, spoiler or crafter.

Actually a healer/buffer is not only very useful it is almost a must when you reach the level 40 since you lose all newbie buffs and it becomes very hard to solo.

The dwarf can be very fun to play if you like using a pole. I can't compare with Kamael since I didn't play them enough.

About making a dwarf alt for crafting you have the choice between make a spoiler which is a good solution because you can find crafting shops in Giran, make a crafter which can be very frustrating because you'll spend a lot of time to find key mats that the spoiler can find more easily or you can make both which is the best solution but also the more time consuming.

Most people make alt dwarves level 20 or sometimes 40 to make quick money with C and D shots and crystals. If you want to do more it can hardly be an alt.
My wife and I play on Bartz btw.
as an alt potentially...

however as a dwarf/buffer duo... its a very effective combo
long time ago recomendation to level a healer/buffer as a main find a dwarf buff them up and follow the carnage...

Yes you will need to spend some time playing your alt crafter to be able to learn higher craft lvl skill. For crafting soul shot, you can craft D grade shoot at lvl 20 after you have finish your artisan class change and have the shot recipe, lvl 36 for C grade shot, and 49 for B grade shot.. so beside D grade shot you are able to craft the next grade shot before you get to that level (lvl20=D, lvl 40=C, lvl 52=B...)
Another point is crafting B-S grade armor/weapon/item, you will need to have an extra recipe for each craft( one recipe for your craft book, one as part of the crafting material needed) plus B grade craft = has 60% and 100% recipe, 60% uses fewer material but has a change to fail craft which will make your crafting materials disappear and you get nothing!! SOme people have good luck on 60% and same most all the time- 100% B grade recipe are harder to come by and are very expensive.. The Bright side is something that player sell like a top B grade weapon for 40M adena can be crafted at 60% for like 10M , you can afford to fail 2x and still save money..

The good new is from No-Grade to C grade all craft are 100% so NO fail and you only need 1 recipe to go in the crafting book only not 2 like B grade and up crafting.

You can play a Dwarf crafter as main or alt , but the higher lvl you go the less damage you will be able to do to monster compare to other damage dealer class like due to lack of attack skill in this current release CT1.5.

Another option is to use other dwarf player craft shop and pay a fee to craft item like shot/armor/weapon.. most of the time you still be saving money then buying an item/shot from other player. Another good point is these player craft shop offer D grade to S grade(depend on the crafter level)and not have to level your own...

Have fun-when you really play a crafter and learn the active-economy in the game it like another world/game open up- where buying/selling/crafting=making money is all you think and do no wonder so many people can get rich in this game- but you must put timeand effect in learning the economy in-game- sadly your crafter will spend less and less even never leave town for xp at all when the money start coming in..
I have a WS lvl 75 as main and I'm currently lvling up a 2nd WS so that I can have room for all the recipes I want (the 2nd WS won't go higher than lvl 62...lvl 8 craft).
I craft ss and sell before i go to sleep, and when i wake up right before i go to work. i do pretty good. i have two accounts. sometimes i sell shots on 2 dwarfs.

i play 1-2 hours a day. sell ss 22 hours a day.
