Don't know if anyone else has encountered this, but we noticed some odd behaviour from our buffers on auto-follow.
When we flagged on another toon, our buffers hit us, flagging themselves as well.
We tested this on multiple chars, and found that most of them would auto attack us if we flagged. Our clan leader made a recording of this, and is submitting it to NC.
Not the kind of behaviour we want from a toon on auto-follow - if we defend ourselves, our buffers become a free target.
HAHAHA! I've had this happen to me right when I changed back to my buffers screen. I'm sitting there not pressing anything and she walks right up to my main and smacks her around. And, I just sat there... bewildered.
Auto-follow is kind of half *****. It's really just attack without forcing the game to attack. So when you flag, it allows the auto-follow character do what it's wanted to do ever since you set it to "auto follow". That would be, attack.
Well, it could be they're just sick and tired of being 2-boxed characters. They're fed up with being the second-rate persona, relegated to buffs every 20 minutes.
So Yeah, I can understand their desire to maybe walk over and smack you around a little.

Yup, that's it. There is no real "auto-follow" in the game, what people call "auto-follow" using the standard game client actually is nothing else than "attack" (after all you set somebody on af by targetting somebody and clicking "attack", or by double-clicking, which is the same thing).
So what the toon on af actually is trying to do all the time is hitting the person it follows, but it can't as long as that other toon is not flagged (because you would need to force-attack to do that). But as soon as you flag - boom.
Especially funny if you are playing an academy toon and have your S-grade equipped buffer on af :)

Well said! Playing a (live) support char, I know the feeling very well. Sometimes I go around helping low level friends to level up and feel the urge to hit them all too often!
After this thread, I can always claim it was "the autofollow's behavior"!

consider it a blessing in disguise.
instead of only ONE target for a wartag to drop, now anyone that comes faces 2 targets.
i that target is a squishy buffbox that you dont care about the exp on and keep out of party, why are you moaning? OBVIOUSLY the slave will be the first target.

It's been like this at least since Interlude, but I'm pretty certain I noticed my SE trying to beat me up a while before that. You just have to be careful with your boxes, I suppose. An actual auto-follow command would be nice.
Aye this been since the beginning (beta?) and players would use this to get free pvp points back in the days, some "high-lvl" would ask some lowbies on TI to go hunt, he would walk there so all they had to do was going on "auto-follow" then when far away from town he would flag (hit a npc or something) so all his followers would smack him and flag, free pvp points for the "high-lvl" player...
