new players

General Discussion Started Last reply 16 posts
It seems there have been a few new players introducing themselves on the boards lately. If you are new or know of someone new then maybe you can answer a couple of questions.
How did you find out about this game? What made you decide to try this game?
I'm not new, like I started yesterday, but I'm new like I wasn't around in C1 ;) so:

How did you find out about this game?
RL friend told me about it.

What made you decide to try this game?
Watching these movies:

especially E3 cinematic and gameplay movie
In conjunction with TailChaser's question, I'd like to add that if you did come from an illegal server, please don't mention it here on our official forums. Discussion of illegal servers, even the mere mention of them, is not permitted here.
Well, I was playing Final Fantasy XII and my dog tripped over the cord and the whole PS2 came down and it broke the disk.

So I decided to try a new game maybe World of Warcraft or something.

I tried it out and didn't like it so I bought Guild Wars which would not work on my vista so I was starting to think of buying FFXII again but I saw a little advertisment for Lineage II in the Guild Wars box so I bought that game.

I have to say it's one of the funnest games I have ever played.
This is a great game but it's the friends that you make in the game that makes it even better. Welcome to the Game and Lionna (Role Playing) Server.

I fully agree that such a discussion is clearly against the EULA. But it is also my strong opinion that a large part of the current L2 community had it's first contact through those channels. What if you (as a Forum Moderator) did a poll or even better a questionair with all possible sources that brought us in touch with L2 (even the "shady" ones). In this case for once, you could make an exception as to some aspects of people's past. Things that could be asked is:
-When did you start?
-What was your first server/character?
-Where/what do you play now?
-How did you come in contact with the game?
-Etc (I thing you get the picture)

This should include all players (not only new ones). I believe such an initiative would help the marketing department of NC to have some actual feedback as to were their players "come" from (advertisement on TV, magazines, friends, whatever) and help them plan better.

I found out about the game from a friend who was in closed beta. We were sitting in computer lab and he comes over and says hey come see this (on his monitor), and he had this website on it lol. As soon as I saw that picture of a crapload of people in a throne room taking a castle, and the one with two lines of people sitting outside the gate, I was locked onto the game. Been playing on and off ever since :).
I played a little during C1 or C2. I had heard about it from a friend on a forum and looked over the site and decided to play. Lost my job and then stopped playing. Since then I have been looking over the site and was just hired on and decided to come back, as well as being more active in the community.

I do believe you just bought yourself a 3 day vacation Alyra by your own post.

Siren, do your thing!
-When did you start?
I started in December of 2004...well I bought the game on boxing day :P

-What was your first server/character?
Devianne and a Spellhowler

-Where/what do you play now?
Devianne and another Spellhowler

-How did you come in contact with the game?
Saw people talking about it in another game forum (I used to play Ragnarok). I saw it in Futureshop and decided I would try it out! I've been playing the game ever since!

That's a great idea that could certainly be fun. :) I'll see if we can get something like that implemented in a sticky post.
-When did you start?
June 2006 the night before father's day.
-What was your first server/character?
Lionna as a Spell Howler.
-Where/what do you play now?
Same server, SE mostly now though.
-How did you come in contact with the game?
My boyfriend wanted me to try a game because he didn't believe me when I told him I was a gamer. I stayed up all night and hit 20 just before I meet his dad the next day. :p
I'm kind of new, but really just returning. I played a Swordsinger through beta and at the game's release for about half a year. I stopped playing before C2 - got very burnt out on the grind and the punishments of pvp'ing (ie - lose weapon that took you six months to get). Also customer service was bad and farmers/bots were rampant. I think that is why many folks left the game back then (it had huge popularity at launch).

Lately I have been feeling nostalgic because I did have some very good memories of epic battles and so on. So I decided to come back and see how the game has evolved. I'm now working on a future-treasure hunter on Bartz named Jynks.

Please say hello - the lowbie grind is lonely. ^^;
A friend of mine showed me and said..

"look you can stand here and smack these guard trees and the will drop herbs for you..."

thought that is some boring crap.
As you see I was very wrong.
Hello, new person here.

I started about 2 days ago. And I found out about L2 when I was canceling my City of Heroes account, wanted something different, saw it on NC's list of games and figured why not :) . I heard about L2 when it first came out but wasn't really into this type of game then, but reading about the open PvP and castle sieges kind of intrigued me...so here I am.
-When did you start?
Jan 1, 2006

-What was your first server/character?
Lionna-my current main (DA)

-Where/what do you play now?
Lionna--mostly trying to get to 70

-How did you come in contact with the game?
It's embarrassing, but the whole truth is, I was in Best Buy and looking for any new computer game, didn't read the box and bought it cause I thought it was a single player game (or at least had that option).....really. Got it home and THEN saw it had to played on line (I didn't even know what an MMO was and had never played one). I almost gave up since it was so ****ed hard to create the account. Long story-short, I finally after like 3 days of trying had my character log in on Talking Island in Cedriks. Ran outside and was hooked. Tbh--I came to L2 by mistake. I had never heard of Lineage II before I picked up the box in the store and mistakenly bought it. :)
