dysnasty leather for healers

General Discussion Started Last reply 62 posts
erm why do healers not get the chance for a class specific dynasty leather armor they can use light armor
Is there any reason for healer to use light armor?
coming the evasion boost in CT2 it would be wonderfully beneficial.
nothing stops you from using the generic dynasty light set, you dont have to make it class specific.
Oh! Finally there's a S-Grade set for healers (lvl 80+ healers that is) and you're not happy, you want more?
Lick Korean devs toes for giving you such a wonder, or else... BoA nerf.
Healers should have a high mp pool, therefore they use robes.

Maybe sub something if u wanna run around in light armor?
u know i actually SOLO with my SE and i like wearing light on that !

besides SE rnt a main healer class anymore thats Bishop/EE job
We have light armor masteries, there's no reason why they couldn't come out with another good LA set for healers like BW light.

Kinda sad that you have to solo. Noone plays mage on your server? I've tried killing mobs solo on my SE but its just not worth the time.

We have light armor masteries, there's no reason why they couldn't come out with another good LA set for healers like BW light.

Just because you have masteries doesnt mean you are supposed to wear it. You can get away with it in your 40's, but I seriously doubt anyone really wears it near endgame.

Dominator has heavy armor armor, why there is not heavy for buffers?

you logic is simple wrong.

you want to use light or heavy? you pay for it (less mana, casting speed)

you are not fighter, in base you are mystic, and you should wear robes, cause theyre most suitable for your job.

u know i actually SOLO with my SE and i like wearing light on that !

You SOLO with S80 SE?

Just because you have masteries doesnt mean you are supposed to wear it. You can get away with it in your 40's, but I seriously doubt anyone really wears it near endgame.

I solo my prophet in heavy all the time, also i know of serveral other prophets, ses, ee, bishops, ect that wear either light or heavy, it just depends on the group size and wiether they are a battle buffer or healer. Light Armour is acaully pretty awsome for a battle healer or buffer, it gives them the extra p def that robs acually take away making it easier to so some dmg.

PSTTTTT most of those Ses, ees, and Bishops I know are lvl 76+
actually NC soft has pushed both ee and se into a back-up support type healer. Yes ee heals are good, but they dont have group heal purify greater battle heal or balance life. If you are still soloing at lvl 76 + healer type support class in light or heavy armor, you are in serious need of either a new clan or just a better party set up. Ligth armor on a healer isn't bad, but if you are there to actually heal then you shoudn't need it. An se is a great healer for a small party and a ee is a great healer for a mid size to large party depending on the damage taken. How ever, bishop picks up what both se and ee lack in their healing/support ability. A pp has always been seen wearing robe light and heavy type armor, its just natural to their class. Prophet is a buffer support, they buff them selves and others and take part in the battle. For a an actuall healer, imo, robes are necessary 24-7. A bishop is a healer, they have a few buffs yes, but 98% of the time they heal and thats all the do. An se can buff you, heal you, recharge you, cure pz bleeding and posion. An ee can do basicly the same.
But as a healer my self, i would never ever wear light armor and i would never expect an ee or se supporting me to keep up with me while wearing light armor.

Don't be dumb, they are most suitable for our job only because there are no good LA sets for healers (other than BW light). And yeah no duh we aren't a fighter, did I say I wanted to FIGHT with light armor? No, but more pdef would be awesome for pvp so we don't die in a few shots.

And only the orc buffers and pp's have heavy armor masteries, we we talking about healers here (SE,EE,Bish), pay attention.

But I expect you're an archer type that thinks all buffers/healers should be one shot and not be able to do jack about it.
Hey, if u need more pdef in pvp u could try running around in heavy armor, everyone will think u have a tank sub or something. Then when someone dies coz you cant heal them fast enough, just pop a rez while in heavy, ppl will think its regular scroll rezes.

LOL.
if you want to solo your s80 healer you can ... you can wear the default s80 dynasty light set and get the bonuses it gives

But seriously I doubt I single 80lvl supporter runs around in light cause they got masteries
No healer runs around in light armor (even though they have masteries), because there ARE no good healer sets.

Nothing prevents NCSoft from creating a light armor set with, say, +4 WIT and +15% casting speed (but -INT).

Then healers could choose between higher pdef but less mp, or more mp but less pdef.

But sadly the devs have no clue and hand out light armor masteries without any interesting sets to choose from.
put it this way ... I get a healer sporting light armor in my group I am more likelly to pk him myself and put him out of his misery ...

btw you also loose a lot of casting speed when in light as opposed to robe, magician's movement and spellcraft dont apply with light.

That's what a healer's light armor mastery is for, it gives casting speed in light armor (about 90% of casting speed in robes). With the +4 Wit and +15% casting speed I suggested above, a healer should be quite close to casting speed in maj robes. And once again, healers just do not use light armor because there are no sets. The masteries healers have would make light armor sets work very well, if there just were some designed for healers. Wouldn't you want a healer in pvp who can cast just as fast as in robes, but who has more pdef and so lives longer?
NC gave light armor masteries to all support classes (heavy also to pp and orc mages) but forgot to provide the game with sets that are suited for the job. Even BW light that is considered the best (nothing similar on A or S grade) was given the stupid -WIT stat. Support classes should have to sacrifice only mana pool and a bit of casting speed compared to robes. Right now the decrease in casting speed is too much. Buffers may still use robes to buff and switch to light, but a healer no.
One thing that bothers me about Robe->Light->Heavy for classes that get more than just Robe masteries, is the lack of MP bonuses on most items/sets.

On average you can see anywhere from roughly 1/3 to 1/2 your total MP coming from a set of robes, depending on your level and class.

So,unless you are in a critical casting speed situation (and honestly, most aren't), it's the lack of MP or MP regen that will cripple you and not necessarily the casting speed. (Since you can raise casting speed in other ways.) Although it's still a factor for buffing more than 3+ chars with a prophet or other non-orc buffer.

not archer, but dagger ;o))) and yep, support chars will possibly die from 2 or 3 blows (and that's what is work of dagger, getting rid of enemy support).

so you want to have pdef like tank, and also your abilities? don't be ridiculous.

if you have plain robe, and plain light, there is (thanks to passives), difference 5% in casting speed on high level, on lower levels it's even less. and around 10% of attack speed (i had never understand reason, why mystic wearing robe is better in melee, than wearing light)

why would they create robe sets, if there will be no significant benefit over light?
Pdef like tank... geez just stop talking. Good lord at least there are people like Varaya that get the overall concept here.

Light sets for healers would have less mp, not as good regen but we can't make them TOO craptastic or there would be no point in wearing them. They should be designed towards one purpose which would be pvp, where not having as much mp or regen doesn't matter as much as staying alive a little bit longer. Robes would still be pvp/pve due to the regen, mp pool, and superior casting speed.
it would be nice if the S80 sets weren't class bound thou so the player had to option to choose w/e to wear..
Yes, talk about finalllllly adding some versatility.
The devs will most likely have to look up that word Nightfox.
(I refer to "versatility" of course.)
I would love to see more sets of LA.

I do not see any changes happening soon though....
I still would like to know what the roles are in their mind with the supporting arguments to why that is the case.

I know.... what the hell am I rambling about..

Carry on

erm, and what's the problem with wearing current light set, if you only want to get higher pdef?

you are not loosing your casting speed and regen, when u are using light(difference is too little to notice, see my previous post). which makes robes for you better than light, is their set bonuses (most people goes for casting speed) and MP pool.

so make light which add casting speed and mana (like tallum robe), and noone will use robe on buffer/healer again.

i've spent many times plaing support char (either buffer or healer), and i know, how fast they can die in pvp. still i think, it's bad idea to make light set for buffers.

The problem with light is that althought it provides bigger Pdef than robes, it does not provide any of the other functions a buffer/healer needs on a PvP case (mainly casting speed). The difference in casting speed between Light and Robes are little you say? What are you talking about? You have obviously no idea of what we are discussing here.
My WC with accumen buff/weapon, +5 WIT dyes, has a differnece of 33% casting speed between light (NM) and robes (Tallum). You call this little? Your previous post wrote about the 5% passive difference. If that was the case nobody would complain. But when the robe bonuses kick in the difference is much bigger. The OP player suggested that light armors suitable for support should be created.

Nobody asked for both. Casting speed and WIT bonus would be just fine (even if the MP pool was much less and the overall speed was a bit lower than robes). The reason that NC provided the masteries to these classes is for PvP purposes were MP pool is not an issue but survivability is. They just forgot the casting speed part.

If you say so.

Lol?

Healers' survivability in pre-C4 PvP was pretty much MP pool dependent. Light was for PvE (back in C1, on those levels healers could still melee solo).
Light armor masteries are given to buffers and summoners also, not only healers. That's why I used the word "support" classes. By saying "Back in C1" you mean that NC provided the light armor masteries for support classes to use for PvE on low levels only?

erm, you missed very important part, of what i said "plain robe" and "plain light".

you'll see tallum robe has set bonus +15% cs (lets call it acumen), and +2 WIT (which is another 10% of casting speed), then you are wondering, why you have nearly 30% more CS in tl robe, than NM light? lets remove your helmet, you will get "plain robe" now you see? you get only difference in mana pool (robe wins), pdef (light wins), mp regen and casting speed difference is merely unnoticeable. and let me repeat "set bonuses is what makes robes better for your job, than light".

next time, try not only to read, but also to understand what is written.

By saying "back in C1" I mean that when NCsoft provided healers, buffers and summoners with the line of light armor masteries, those masteries were mostly for PvE tanking (except for summoners, which could also meaningfully use them in PvP).

erm, you missed very important part, of what i said "plain robe" and "plain light".

Plain as “no armor set”? No, hadn’t figured that you were referring to that.

Thank you for explaining this to me. I always wondered why the difference. Tell me something else I don’t understand. I see shops selling something called “soulshot”, with grades like weapons. What is it and how can I use it?

You compare light and robe without taking the set bonuses into account? Ok, whatever. You win.

and let me repeat "set bonuses is what makes robes better for your job, than light".

Let me repeat. This thread is about “set bonus”. In particular the bonuses light armors provide for support characters.

next time, try not only to read, but also to understand what is written.

Ok, thx for the tip. I will do better next time. :p

ok, then again
make light set for buffer, and noone will use robe on buffer.

currently you have two option
use robe, with low pdef and nice bonus set + higher mana poll, or light/heavy (pp/orc) with very good pdef.

when you make set for buffers, which will add casting speed (which most buffers/healers want) - with new combo buff, MP pool is not issue. with major heal (interlude skill if i'm correct, also for healer MP pool is not critical issue), also mj light ads mana, and didn't decrease you healing/buffing ability, so light set with MP pool exists ;o))) - nobody will use robe, when there will be only "small" difference in casting speed. (this is, why i was refering to "plain robe" and "plain light" as example)
You seems to forget that a mystic will ALWAYS have higher casting speed AND much better MP regen in robes than in light (no I'm not refering to set bonuses).
Ok this is the part where I ask.. who on earth can afford 2 80+ sets in the first place? I am struggling to complete A robes. ^^;;

quests quests quests :p
well it's been what? 6 months since the s80 quests are available? I m not aware of all that many completed s80 sets out there. So it's mostly a philosophical discussion

You seems to forget that a mystic will ALWAYS have higher casting speed AND much better MP regen in robes than in light (no I'm not refering to set bonuses).

lets go back trough this topic, and read all my posts.
when we are talking about buffers and healers (and we are), they have mastery for light, and there is only little difference in CS a MP regen.

and yes, mages (elemental, necro) will still use robes, cause they don't have passive for light, but discussion is not about mages.

Still that MP regen is no where close to the MP regen for robes and you didn't comment on the huge loss of casting speed.

have you even tryied to read, what i have written?

Shillien Saint with light amor has base casting speed 336, with robe 347 - even you buff that char, and give him weapon with acumen, it will still result in 3% difference of casting speed
mp regen for this char is around 13MP/tick in light, and might be around 13.5MP/tick in robe (which is around 10MP per minute difference)

so where is your huge loss?

and this is the place, where you need to choose

light with high pdef and bonus set mostly for fight, or robe with mp and set bonus suitable for mystic (most people goes for casting speed bonuses)

Try that on a high lvl EE and you will see a greater difference.
casting speed, MP regen and MP pool is crucial for healers.

evas saint
diffenence in MP regen - same as shillien saint
diifference in casting speed 4% instead of 3%
hmm, i see, it's a lot :D

for block heads like u i repeat again

"its SET BONUS, what makes robes more suitable for your job"

and that's why i'm no, to light set for buffers. when there will be light set with casting speed bonus, no buffers will use robe (only that, which cares about fashion)

edit: i was asked for numbers so, here they are (only things, that affects casting speed and mp regen, are mentioned)
mp regen is calculated from 2 minutes regen

shilien saint 78 - GMH pot, miracles + acu, wit +4 dye, powater
robe - 727, mp regen around 12.4 mp
light - 694, mp regen around 12.8 mp

evas saint 78 - GMH pot, miracles + acu, wit +4 dye, powater
robe - 884, mp regen around 12.8 mp
light - 844, mp regen around 13.2 mp

in both test, i was using robes and light without any set bonus
Maylo, are you dense? When people refer to armor, they actually refer to armor set. They don't wear their armor without their gloves or helmet as you suggested before. Don't you understand that you only riducule yourself by making such comments? (Like the one you said "If they give casting speed to light armor none is going to use robes" LOL)
When you try to make a point, be precise. Example:
"Eva's Saints wearing xxxx armor set has this casting speed while wearing yyyy armor set has that casting speed."
That way we can have a discussion. Stop trying to make a moot point (unless you try to increase your post counter).

OK, then lets make another example.

take tallum robe set, put its bonus to tallum light armor.
how much buffer will use tallum or dc robe then? nobody, or only little few, 'cause most of people will sacrifice little mana when they get more pdef.

sittuation now - you will sacrifice mana pool (this doesn't apply when you are wearing mj light) and casting speed for pdef

undestood?

We have light armor masteries, there's no reason why they couldn't come out with another good LA set for healers like BW light.

Just because you have masteries doesnt mean you are supposed to wear it. You can get away with it in your 40's, but I seriously doubt anyone really wears it near endgame.

My Shillien Elder (http://204.127.198.25/ashleymivida/AshleyHunters.jpg) wears BW Light at 60+ solo She has a Great Wolf Doing all the Fighting and I never Need robes with that Set up. Can solo a Whole Room in the catta.

My
Warcryer (http://204.127.198.25/ashleymivida/MiVida.jpg) also Wears Light armor. Just buff up and then transform and with the new Combo Buffs she can grind the whole 30 mins. solo no pet. and with 41 STR 35 DEX and 37 CON she does it with ease.

She has 3 transformation so that's a easy 90 mins of grinding then she summons the Great wolf and hunts more. I plan on getting another Transformation hopefully this week if it drops. which will give her 120 mins of Solo grind. :D

Also BW Light has more P defence then any A grade robe and Most A grade Light Armors. +6 the SET (I'm almost Done just need +6 gloves) it and you have more P defence then any A grade Light ARMOR provided they are just normal +++. Cheaper also.

A healer/recharger would NEVER sacrifice mana pool for pdef.
A PP needs the mana pool to buff the entire party.
A high lvl WC can buff and go melee in light armor, but won't have enough MP to sleep or heal.

How about taking tallum light armor and putting its pdef as a bonus on tallum robes instead? Wouldn't it be better for all?

you said so
then why do you need light?
ask nc, to add 10% pdef to dynasty robe set bonus (actualy dc robe has 5%, lets make it even better), and you'll be happy. no need for light.

btw. why so many buffers between 52 and 61 (and many also later) prefer bw light? they have less mp than in robe, less casting speed (near 8% if you compare it to avadon robe). you can ask yourself.

A high lvl WC can buff and go melee in light armor, but won't have enough MP to sleep or heal.

I have 1500 MP after FULL Buffs in Majestic Light

More then enough for Sleep and heal and WC has the Best MP regen.

yea For Combo Buffs :)

btw. why so many buffers between 52 and 61 (and many also later) prefer bw light?

It's cheaper than BW robes.

well, if you go for BW light instead of avadon robe (which is even cheaper), that means, mana pool is not an issue (as i have written in some posts before)

and you have again missed the point.

let do some comparation
price - ava robe < bw light < bw robe
mana pool - bw light < ava robe < bw robe
mp regen - bw robe < ava robe < bw light
casting speed - bw light < bw robe = ava robe (casting speed in both robes is nearly equal +3 wit it's like 15% cs)
pdef - ava robe = bw robe < bw light (cause of 5% set bonus, ava robe nearly equals with pdef to bw robe)

your argument was mana pool and casting speed, in both is BW light in disadvantage, and yet peole likes to choose light, instead of robes. and price also can't be the fator, to buy light. so what's the true reason?

well, think about it for yourself.

btw. you have not aswered to my question, and i think, you don't have an answer.
Maylo, you are trying to make a point that you alone see as valid. Reality is that NC should have provided at least 1 armor set like BW light (but not with gimp -WIT) for A and S grade. S-grade is so poor, they really need to do something about it (S80 armors are too far away for the majority of players). If they don't increase S-grade armors or make them more flexible, they should at least allow A-grade armor to accept elemental stones for protection.
A light set for support characters set should have a 15% casting speed bonus, a +1 or +2 WIT modifier and no mana bonus (disadvantage compared to robes). Case closed.
First you can get your equations right.
With data from a lvl 52 EE:
pdef: avadon robe (463) < bw robe (468) < bw light (579)
mdef (with BO set): bw robe (588) < avadon robe (592) < bw light (606)
casting speed: bw light (430) < avadon robe (475) < bw robe (477)
mp regen (running): avadon robe (9.1) < bw light (9.3) < bw robe (9.4)
mp regen (sitting): avadon robe (12.5) < bw light (12.7) < bw robe (12.9)

As you can see the ONLY advantages the bw light has over avadon robe and bw robe is mdef and pdef.

A raid group would never take a healer in bw light because it would run out of MP way to fast + casting speed is crucial in most cases.

A party would never take a PP in bw light because he/she won't have enough MP to buff the entire party.

since you said for yourself in the last post that "price can't be the factor" then my question to you is why would anyone go bw light instead of bw robe?

I have never used light armor on my EE unless I go solo (dc light for atk.speed+patk).
I tried bw light on my PP and I couldn't buff more than 4 ppl and I didn't have enough MP to keep their buffs up because I had another 4 ppl to buff.

now why don't you tell us what the "true reason" for anyone to use bw light instead of bw robe?

Are you sure you aren't confusing the mystics in bw light you see with summoners or human mystics on a sub with heavy armor?

from very start of this discussion, i have said, that there is no reason for creating light armor for buffers/healers.

when u are on raid party, u are not the one, who get hit, so robe is best for you.
when u are in pvp, u will be taken down in one salvo, or 2 blows, either u have light, or robe.

when u solo, u mostly use light, for their pdef, but either mana pool, or casting speed is there an issue.

make the light, with bonus like robe set, and noone will use robe, thats, what i'm saying from start. if you still don't get it, then let it be.

all u are arguing about, is casting speed. and i'm saying no. there should be not this advantage. if it's casting speed so important for you, use robe. there is no more to say.

BW light is cheaper to convert to BW robes. Or they just don't know better (it happens, especially with people that are still going to play a live buffer in L2).

However, I don't remember seeing a buffer in BW light (not that I know a lot of buffers that solo, though...).

ppl would still use robe instead of robe even if light had better casting speed because MP pool AND MP regen is important to keep the party going for hours with heals/recharges.

in every single post you have been trying to turn everything around.

have you ever played a healer/buffer as main? if no, then don't make nonsence comments.

Do you play a support class? Do you PvP with it? Obviously no. When you start doing these things come again to discuss the issue.
