Seeing as how these ants have been isolated to Texas coastal cities since 2002, move at a rate of half a mile per year, and Austin is around 160 miles (257 kilometers) from Houston.
On their own they are slow but what if a queen manages to hitch a ride on a semi. Yup, by flashing one of her legs and twirling those antennas till some trucker is unable to resist and pulls over. But really, a bag of dirt or a wet season and those queens can take a ride to other places.
Don't confuse Crazy ants with Fire Ants. Fire Ants crused into Texas decades ago. Crazy Ants ship came in about 5 years ago.
Both like electric stuff. We have posions for the Fire Ants. Nothing the EPA allows will kill the Crazy ants.
