I have recently returned (seems like a trend lately...). I have done some searching thru multiple forums and the general theme seems to be that this class is not what it used to be. I would be leveling likely with a SH friend of mine ( So i won't be polling most likely). Can i still have fun,and be competitive in PvP (sieges 1v1 etc) or has this class lost a lot over the Chronicles?
Also...not the right forum but would a warlord be a better option? Sadly both classes that interest me the most seem to be iffy.
Get a 2H sword for the Destroyer and go hunt with that...very little else comes close to the effectiveness except maybe a Berzerker...but they don't have quite the durability either. You can always grab a pole later if they de-nerf AOE in the future. (A warlord is not a 'upgrade' choice....)
They nerfed Frenzy very badly in CT1, and they nerfed Battle Roar in CT1.5. A Destroyer can still be somewhat fun to play for just PvE, but now you don't have that uber 90s punch that makes up for your super-slow run speed, and it isn't exactly a real DD class anymore. Will more nerfs come? Who knows?
If you're going to party with an SH you might consider a phantom summoner. Once you get to 58 you will be an awesome duo (use nightshade to pull large group of mobs, use the nightshade's mass curse to debuff mdef by 30%, then use mass surr2wind, then the SH will use one or two Tempest - if you time it right they all die before the nightshade does - great fun for all!).
The destroyer is still great fun. But I will say that a duo of Destroyer and SH is not ideal.
Even with the nerfs the Destroyer is a blast to play imo. Buffed up by a SE or WC ( I prefer WC ), they rip through mobs grinding. As for PVP is still iffy at best depending on buffs and if you get into range before you fall over dead. I have more probs with archers than I do nukers. Everard is very correct on the stun with a 2 HB, once they are stunned it is pretty much all over.
I have a titan main and a tyrant sub and i have found the tyrant more fun and a lot more effective in pve. I loved playing my destro until they nerfed us...it really killed the popularity of the class and i just cant do much of anything anymore in pvp except be a wall of hp since i cant catch anyone.

A grade wep for Destroyer: I have been told to use the Infernal Master because the added Crit fro Focus is better than the 2H Blunt or the Dragon Slayer. I like the idea of using a 2H Blunt because of the stun, but people keep telling me that the focus on the IM is the better way to go.
What say you?

PVE = Focus (No contest)
PVP = Stun (Noticably more useful here.)

I'm not at A grade yet, but so far I've always kept all three weapon types with me so that I can make use of all my skills. I don't think I would have had as much fun on my Destroyer with just one weapon type.

I recommend u get Great sword+7-9+Focus instead Infernal Master. Price will be ~ the same (because SA for A grade cost like... 40m). P atk ~ the same. Shots price MUCH LOWER.
With B weapon u earn money while hunting.
