Shilien Knight or Blade Dancer.

I am having a hell of a time trying to figure out/choose which one I want to become. I read up on both classes, and they both sound awesome. I asked my guild also about their opinions on them both also. I would like a wide spread blanket of opinions on what exactly each class entails, power, defense, & magic wise. The details to me were a tad obscure. So, if anyone can input their opinion on what each class is known for, please, let me know. Thanks. ^^

Do you want to be constantly begging for party, or do you want people to beg you to join their party? That's the difference between a tank and BD.

For BD, it's much easier to find a group. However, being required to dance every 2 minutes for the rest of your life (well, at least untill you subclass) could be annoying.

Also, in CT2 tanks could become more useful in groups and easier to solo.

Give up tank idea! They ain't needed(required) anywhere and left in vain. Go for BD.

It doesn't matter will it be more or less useful, fact that melee group will better have one more real DD, archer....one more archer and in mage - one more mage. And only BD is a thing that needed in any type of this groups.

BD's versatility at fitting in parties is a winner. Any party that wants efficiency (killing speed) needs a BD. Be it melee, archer, mage or mixed. SK will have a much harder time finding parties as levels go up since he has nothing significant to contribute compared to BD. Not to mention that SK is considered the worst tank for raid bosses (CON 32 doesn't really help). SK's playstyle might be much more intresting, but BD will level much faster.

SK is the second best tank for single-party bosses like Anakazel (the best one being Destroyer).

Actually the best thing would be to pick sk and have a bd friend <<.

The Destroyer is not really a tank as it can't hate and often looses the aggro.

As stated above, you'll have a better time finding a group as a BD than as a SK but I prefer the SK anyway :)

just a warning, both are not pvp classes so if you want to "pwn" reconsider

having said that bd's are always needed and as such shouldn't have any problems finding a party once they're lvl58+, tanks and sk's in particular have it a lot harder so be prepared to solo a lot if you go the tank route..

The BD will be asked to join groups frequently (or you need to find smarter groups).

There is nothing wrong with either class. As a tank, I can't recommend that anyone consider playing a tank. Unless you're also a masochist you should probably pick another class.

The best a tank can hope for is sympathetic clanmates and friends in game.......

Player 1: "hi! Tank here! Anything going on?"
Player 2: "well, we're putting a group together..."
Player 3: "I don't know if we want to screw it up with Player 1, though"
Player 4: "yeah, who needs the tank?"
Player 2: "c'mon guys-he won't hurt anything...."
Player 3: "yeah--he won't KILL anything either"
Player 4: "okay, I guess we can take him along--if he can find a dd or support toon to bring along!"
Player 1: "gee, thanks guys--you're the best!"

I newst to hate tanks with a passion.

mostly cause I've lesioned to these ******s on the boards, and in game.

Honestly I think an SK is far better then a BD. Many times I've had need for a mid 60-70+ tank for rifts, fortress dungeon, and there aren't any.

SK is a great PvE class if set up right. however, bd has to dance every 2 minutes, and if you forget for even 10 seconds you'll get yelled at by your party!!

sure BD/SwS getting a boost with dances/songs on their own bar next chronicle. but thats not enough to get me to play it. I wish NCsoft would increase the song/dance time to 5 minutes.

I have an SK and I love it. I party with clan mates or run a 2nd box, doesnt matter. It doesnt matter if it good for pvp or not, Ive gotten beat several times and have won a couple too :) I just love the class.

Because remembering to Sing/Dance every 5 minutes will somehow be easier? It still requires people who pay attention and do their jobs.

SK is by far more interesting and fun to play. But since this game is mostly about grinding, the BD will lvl twice, maybe three times as fast, not only because of parties but also because of his own higher dps.

If you are in a good clan finding a party as a tank will not be a problem most of the times. Also a tank can take part in archer or aoe parties where xp is high and really help a lot (archers with root-hate, pole with pulling, taking the damage). Even so, as a tank you will spend many hours (maybe most of your hours) soloing, getting low xp.

SK is not a true tank. Not very useful at raids, no stun. BD on the other hand is a very wanted player in all parties any time.
I went SK because I thought it would be more fun, but when you see real tanks, you realize that the sk is gimped player and in the long run, much harder to get to the top with.

Can't be that hard, they do have Hex.

SK does have some kind of stun at end-game, and its doing pretty good at raidbosses also, still there is no reason to play Tank, there is no place that can't be handled without it.
