Excellent shield defense

Why mobs that visually don't have a shield get shield defence and excellent shield defense?

Many times I have hited mobs(all kinds) for 1 dmg (even having a critical hit using drac bow) without having any shield on them.
I had a screen shot of that 1dmg critial hit, but I lost it during the last system reinstall. ><

Please fix this.
About that, why the hell excelent shield defense rate is so low, almost inexistent? Would be nice to increase probability for tankers to have a decent excelent defence rate.

For the same reason a stunned/paralysed character can evade an attack.

NC logic (or simply bad design)

And why when you stun a mob, your weapon has the same accuracy it does when the mob is NOT stunned! (lmao)
My tank in Silent Valley Plateau area stuns a tiger using Dama w/focus....

"you miss"
"you miss"
"you miss"
"orc shaman tiger has avoided your attack"

????? It's freakin STUNNED!! Good thing I got all those sword MASTERIES!

I once missed a stunned tiger six times in a row! From 2 feet away! I know my toon isn't a dd and isn't supposed to actually HURT mobs but really....that's just nuts.

I don't think that weapon accuracy should increase. Target's evasion should go down (almost non existing) since a stunned or paralysed target CAN'T evade. Maybe a small chance of missing could exist (I swing too fast and I missed my target thing) but really small.

Well said. Even a lvl 1 charcter should be able to hit a stunned 80 level character (mob or PC regardless).
I dont like this thing of evade during stun too, but some times realy saved my [censored]. I know its nonsense to evade stuned, but stun already gives a lot of advantage, and if i remember correctly some stuns reduces p.def, so if evasion on stun get nerfed, defence reduce should be removed.
Gameplay not realism folks

All games, no matter how fantasy based they are, need some kind of realism in their mechanics.

Hey hey, i used that on those mobs that break up into 6+ mobs when you use a damage skill on them. stab + UE + POT and they could hardly hit me while i was stunned, they all used stun skill at the same time, one was always landing since i'm --con :p.
Not realistic yeah, but I love it :(.
they might not have a shield in their hands, but surely they have it in their hearts :)
Stun doesn't mean "knocked out".

If two boxers are in the ring and one gets his bell rung, "stunned" he can still avoid another blow. Im sure everyone has seen this in one form or another.

The realism of that seems pretty straight.

Paralyze..... yeah, thats off.
Paralyze is to see something so ugly, that your shocked into a motionless state, thats why Necro's have it, have you seen their summons?

As a high-50's SE, I managed an excellent shield defense against ANTHARAS and took 1 damage, when all the 75+ folks around me were 1-shot.

Ask not for greater rates, ask instead to be like me.

No thanks. I like the ability of OEing my weapons without a 100% fail rate.
Hey, I'll sell you my A crystals cheap.

They come in easy suppository form. On the foot of my boot.
You know **** well you don't have the balls to OE an A grade weapon.
i think stunned is dizzied, and dazzed, like a shield bash where you fazed and cant see anything, i believe shield stun should low a enemy's evasion at least. that would make alot more sense when being stun. that way we can own high evasion classes. and stun don't work well from what i see.

I saw DLM video and he was 1v1 this TH and after 6 shield stun and only 1 landed. but yeah in the end DLM beat the dagger without any difficulty. tank kite a dagger, lol.

but the point is that shield stun, should give some debuffs because what it does. daze and low evasion of the enemy.

well you say DLM beat that dagger, they dont need any lower evasion effect!!! well i am just pointing the realism game logic and common sense. beside that DLM didnt beat him with stun through the fight lol. let me see, oh yeah it was the DRAC BOW THAT KILL THE DAGGER LOL

ps this thread should be in the suggestion section. because anything positive enforcement for tank i am for it.

it is obvious tank and knight class need major boost in perfect shield defense. the master of shield user, they should be able to block perfectly. DUH

realism

I'm sorry, but this term should never be used when talking about a fantasy game with elves, dragons, magic, etc.

or 1 winged emo chickens
hahahahaha
but still when in stunned state, evasion should decreased.

Nah... there is 'realism' in all games: Gravity exits in L2 and the characters, while not all human, are heavily humanized.

I get what you mean though... In today's terms if I did something that may shock or stun some one... and then I swung a very big hammer at them... they would probably get out of the way...

Paralyzed can be seen the same way...

However, consider that if you are significant;y higher level than a RB and you attack it you re not stunned or paralyzed but instead are PETRIFIED.... that's a real conundrum.... can't help you there. But then I am not you can evade while in that state.
A golf ball is totally still on the tee.
You swing your club round to hit it half way up the fairway.
You miss completely.

It's perfectly possible to miss a stationary target.
LOL

player A: what areyou doing

player B: I'm trying to break into the castle

player A: by breaking down the door

player B: yea

player A: what level are you?

player B: level 1

Player B: miss miss miss miss miss miss miss 1dmg miss miss crit hit 1dmg miss miss miss miss

playerA: wait how do you hit a door in a critical area? and how are you missing it?

playerB: welcome to Lineage 2 :)
Okay, not to play the devil's advocate here, but landing a critical strike does not imply that you've struck a more vulnerable spot on your target... it could mean that you have a sudden surge of adreneline at that moment and exeeded your normal strength...
Thats explain why after a 5 row miss u do a critical. Your toon get angry cuase of the missing and get a adrenaline surge to do a critical. :D :D :D

miss miss miss miss miss miss miss ARGH BANG BANG BANG BANG! *tired* miss miss miss *drops to floor exhuasted*
For those who say "realism shouldn't exist in a fantasy game" I say: All fantasy games have realism otherwise they can't exist. If adena would fly instead of dropping and you had to jum up and catch them before they vanish forever, I would say "forget realism". But this game has been built in an attempt to balance thngs and create trade offs. So realism is needed in every game to create a point of refference.
wOOT FLYING MONEY!
uuhmm... money that can fly away... NOT cool
We've had pink pigs so why not flying money ^^
People are always confusing "realism" with "reality".

Something being comparable to the real world in which we live is reality. There would be cars that don't fly, and dogs that bark instead of chirping, and little old ladies would not be able to smash through brick walls with their foreheads.
Expecting something to be exactly relatable to the way it is "IRL" is expecting reality, NOT realism.

Realism, on the other hand, simply means that there are predictable and identifiable reasons for things behaving a certain way, and they can be expected to continue behaving in that way.
Realism in our world may be totally different than realism in the gameworld, because the two operate under different rules.

Lineage II does indeed have realism, as we can predict within the rules of that world how things will react.
Dark elves will be stronger fighters than light elves, buffs have a predictable cooldown period before re-cast, enemies will continue fighting regardless of the damage they've sustained, as long as they have at least 1HP left, etc.

Granted, in a magic-based world like L2, realism can sometimes seem a little unrealistic when compared to "the real world", but those are concessions that have to be made in a fantasy game.

In a place where you can kill giant, walking mushrooms with gusts of wind from atop your two-legged dragon mount, you have to assume that maybe a few things are gonna be a little different than they are in your neighborhood.
dont start to write long essay that sounds good. and think you're a PhD candidate. for realism, we want more realism, of course game have a degree of realism, but some want to have more in certain skills. in this case shield stun. but this thread is not about shield stun.

it is about excellent shield defense. should excellent shield defense rate increase? if anyone here play a true shield and sword class you would know the answer. da/sk/pal/tk and other tank, they are true shield users but the excellent shield defense rate is not any greater than other class with shield.

because of tank class we should be able to block attacks more perfectly than other non shield type classes.
why not make it so ANY class without shield masteries can not have an excellent shield def?

would make tanks worth something then..?
I play a paladin and i dont notice the rate of excellent shield def. that much atm :S im up for an increase sure so long as its reasonable.

I also agree with crazyb if you dont have shield mastery, your success rate should be minimal to none to get excelent shield def. as you have no clue what your doing with that thing. ;)
