Seems i wasted my time

Seems i wasted my time farming about 2k charcoal. I'm told it's a mat noone wants and i can't even sell it for half my server's value. There's a buy shop at 1/3 that value.

Just when i was starting to think making money was possible in this game i get hit with this. GG you lost, farm more.
go farm some coal, craft cokes and sell those, every server has a market for cokes
The prices and availability (supply vs. demand) on every server for every conceivable thing in L2 FLUCTUATES.

You've lost nothing Feline. Throw the 2k charcoal in your wh and go on to the next idea.

If they are selling for 300a each now--hold them. At some point you'll see them start going up again, even if that is 3 months from now. Then you can sell them.

Every player needs to take the time to study market trends (well, not those who get their adena through "other means").

On my server recently varnish went through the roof and I had over 3k in the wh from before. I made over 4 million and the sellshop wasn't even open 1/2 an hour!
It wasn't long ago that same varnish was selling for around 600a each. It's now up to 1,500 or more.
I had this same experience a few months back with animal bone. My lowbie little scavi had been farming them for a number of levels and I probably had 1,200 of them. They weren't selling for much so I stored them. For about 8 days the price for AB went up to around 2,500 adena each on my server--needless to say I sold mine then.

Check multiple shop prices of mats. Pick the one or two most lucrative. Then decide which seeds can MOST EASILY give you those fruits via the manor.

Anyway, you didn't "lose" by farming for charcoal. It's still EXTRA income generated while you hunted. Even if they sell for 300a each--that means just about every mob you killed you got an extra 300a, 600a, or depending upon where you farmed up to 1,200a PER MOB. That certainly more than covered the cost of your farming them and should net you at least a little profit.

As long as you can actually turn in crops and didn't pick "stems" as a reward--heck, maybe even if you DO pick stems--you will make something extra via the manor. That's why it's worth doing.

Don't get discouraged, though. Everyone makes mistakes and then learns from them. Lol--I once used quick (and faulty) math to convince myself I could convert d and a few c-crystals via the lux shop into MORE c-crystals which I could sell for profit. This was a long time ago. After attempting this about 4-5 times I rechecked that math and went...."uh oh! THAT doesn't work!"
Probably cost myself 1/2 a million adena on that stupid idea.
But it taught me to do the math twice and also to think before clicking--to choose carefully.

Keep trying! You'll eventually hit the right combinations.
Seed all the different mats and store them for when they do another mass farmer ban. Then you can get top Adena for all of it.

Good post.

Yeah Feline, you have to realize that it's a dynamic market. Do some research, find out what goes for what on your server and see if it is something that you can supply.

It can be anything, you might have to be clever in how you do it though. Whether that is using craft shops, mammon, manor, finding someone trying to unload something cheap so you can then purchase and sell it for a little more, etc.

This is why this is a hard game. If you don't like making money or can't enjoy the mechanisms in place it can be tough going.
Drakkos' suggestions are all wonderful.
When you farm for mats to sell, never ever use Buy shops to sell them, unless the price is satisfactory. Instead, set your price and a shop to sell them by yourself. If you decide to farm some more and craft Cokes, your sales will be even more profitable.

In any case, don't be discouraged; and if you feel uncertain about what to do, come on the fora. There will always be someone to give a helpful hand. Good luck!
what server are you on?

Charcoal on Bartz has a fluctuating value and I think it is currently at 800 adena. It is a mat that is widely used and needed, whoever told you its not needed doesnt know much about the lineage 2 economy.

Edit: At that price it is worth 1.6 million adena even at half the price thats 800k.
If you are talking about Luna, the prices are slowly but steadily increasing all the time.

I made m.alloy and s.cokes of my mats. Waiting for the A-crafts to start. So ppl get tired of building mats from scratch after failing crafts :p

I collected mats and bought mats for all my money as soon as i got my D weapon. Mats were very cheap in first weeks and still are. So that way the profit will soon be several times the money spent.
Get some Coeal, make Cokes and sell those for much higher price. That's how it usually work on other servers. Not sure about Luna economy now though.
Thanks, i actually sold the thing, lucky buy shop at 500. Made about 1m there, that's was a whole day's worth of work. If something like that happens again, i'll try to buy some coal and make cokes, see how that goes. Farming them would just take too much time plus i don't think and seed in my level range gives that.
There are usually rewards for the same mat at various levels.
Lost on many newer players is that you can OFTEN get good, sellable mats at VERY low levels.

As I mentioned, I have a level 10 toon on Lionna making a LOT of adena atm.

I've said it before. Don't make the earning of adena overly hard and complicated in your mind. Spend some time and look around.
If animal bone is selling for 2200 adena--for goodness sakes figure out how to get animal bone so you can sell it.
I can think of 3 ways that relative lowbies can get animal bone as I'm typing this.

You have to put effort and time INTO the market if you want to get adena OUT of the market.
Yup. Animal bones and coarse bone powder are needed all the way up to S grade. A far more safer bet.

I don't think 1 mil for a day's worth of work, at your lvl is so bad.
