Lineage 2 accounts have seen their first increase in activity in the last 6 months.
It has been falling in active accounts since Dec 2006, now it is back at june 2007 activity numbers at 84,000 active accounts. The most NA ever had active was 106,000 active accounts.
Hopefully this an increasing trend? And all the doomsayers can cut it out?
Note these numbers were prior to the new update we will have to wait to july/august for the june numbers that will have the update including in it.
just look at the New Person posts on these boards. a LOT of them are Kamaels.
it pays to simply release content and let word of mouth and mere press releases spread the content around. the type of in-your-face advertising that wow did with Shatner and MiniMe couldnt possibly pique interest of new players.
and even if it DID those new faces would be gone in a month when they cant seem to make adena, or havent found groups, or havent done raids, or have been PKd by wartags and been frustrated out of play.
theres no low-level content IN the game to keep players that "came for the graphics"

Its on the corporate website. And most concurrent users (meaning most log in at one time) is 27,000. Now figure at least half are bots and bots are log in all the time your guys exaggerate how many bots they really are. about 15% of the total population would be automated which in the grand scheme of things is not so bad.
They are just more visable then real players because THEY NEVER LOG OUT.
World numbers are as follows for l2 for this quarter (im just going by total accounts)
Korea 423349 (33 Servers)
Taiwan 106563 (21 Servers)
Japan 115804 (12 Servers)
China 186343 (8 Servers)
NA + EU 83,316 (10 servers luna was not out yet)
Thailand 22,921 (5 Servers)
Total pop 938,296 active accounts on 89 servers
Roughly 10,542 people per server but China's low server number skew that if i had to guess probably around 5000 on avg per server worldwide.
Meaning servers like Teon Franz and Luna are what the biggest servers worldwide would look. Also we are pretty much close to japan and taiwan in numbers so I am not sure why the abandon us so much lol
One last thing is the pacifica region is not included because they aren't run by ncsoft so that could be even more people.

I know how ya feel. I left L2 for a while to explore new games and I said I was never coming back. The whole time missing the game. I had fun with other mmo's but L2 just kept calling me back. Leaving other games didn't have the same effect on me. I guess it's just the grind addiction! lol! I really wish they would just add the content this game lacks but for the most part, L2 rocks! lol

NCSoft NA actually did a pretty good effort in advertising and promoting the game, its paying off now, hopefully well enough.
Yes, I agree. The best thing they did was put the retail game on the shelves of stores. I think I even have someone at work going out to buy it. It's really a good deal with that 60 day time card in it.

...And on the topic of subscription volume, good on them I say! I agree that an improved NA retail presence (complete with shiny foil-stamped embossing) was a very wise move.
For example, I've known about the game since its launch, but for some reason, I never really got around to playing it.
Other games always just kept my attention too well to themselves, and I'm not a poly-gamorous kind of guy.
I finally decided to pick up a copy of the 4th anniversary edition based on a banner ad that I swept across online, and frankly, I wish I had sooner.

Just FYI, since you don't seem to know, ArtbuntRector was a player on Lionna who was blessedly given a free name change by NCsoft when someone reported his name as being offensive.
The REALLY funny part of it is that the part of the name that we all assume was reported - Rector (because it sounds like ****** maybe? Who knows...) - actually means cleric or clergy man.
Even funnier (to me at least) is that I got into a conversation w/ a GM over whether I was allowed to name my character "somethingRector" and it was extremely clear that the GM didn't even speak English, the reply was complete and utter gibberish, didn't make one lick of sense. But every time I post a link to that screen shot, my post gets mysteriously deleted and thread gets locked. ='(
There was another player around the same time named AnaLhanna or something like that, who also earned a free name change. She was pretty upset about it. I can somewhat understand that one though, cuz it did have "****" in it... "Rector" however, just really makes me laugh... shows that our GMs don't speak English. :)
What's not being said is that 82,237 of those accounts are new bots. Lionna has seen a 10x increase in bot activity in the last few weeks alone.
Which Lionna have you been playing on? For at least the last 4 weeks there has been a SIGNIFICANT absence of actual bots.
There are FARMERS--but those automatons are not quite the same as bots.
Bots = those trains of no-names gathering mostly adena in all locations.
Farmers = generally trains of auto toons controlled by players--many of whom are significant on their server--looking for any number of specific things.
I've recently been in TI, DEV, Light Elf land, Dwarven Village and for the past couple weeks I can count all the auto toons there on one hand.
If you're going to make comments then you should at the very least know what you're talking about.
The true bot population on Lionna is close to non-existent and has been for quite some time.

It's not splitting hairs noob. Your fellow players are farming the catas. And technically those probably aren't full auto toons--kill one of them and see what happens next.

YES bots exist on lionna. Drakkos was not saying there are no bots. he acknowledges the adena farmer toons that used to exploit newbie zones for literally billions of adena of income a day have relinquished their posts either by force or by choice. it MAY be that those bots have moved up to farming instanced zones, catas, or regions of the more obscure type - but the whole point of the post was that anyone coming into lionna to check and see this "10x" bot activity WONT FIND IT in low level zones anymore.
take a trip into Mithril mines, maybe 2 groups running. likely just the same old one group.
take a trip on lionna into Ancient battleground. GLAD2BEAGLAD afk farmed there with oop buffers for MONTHS. i even PK'd him once and watched him lie dead for literally HOURS as i exp'd. when he came back shouting "!LF SPUDNIK" on his S grade Dualist Mainclass he COULDNT EVEN FIND WHERE HIS BUFFERS WERE (still dead beside my Loc)
and now he is a hero. and i have Screens. but nobody cares cause GLAD2BEAGLAD will be moving to Bartz soon.
so yes, there ARE bots. theyve moved up far enough now though, that its not so visible to new/reroll/alts.
Remember from the piggy event? the amount of them in the starter towns was crazy, but I think that was something to do with the free trial accounts. I can't remember if it was just before or after that event, you'd see hundreds of them running all over the starter towns. Now theres hardly any at all.
The catacombs are full of them still, most of the trains are watched by one person which will attack back if they think they have enough firepower to kill you or they'd just log in their enforcer to clear you out. Although I was flagged on once when I was pulling mobs from a bots room, now that was a lot of fun!

I'm looking at it from the point of view of someone who played during Preludes and C1 only, and then came back recently. I have been very impressed by how much content they added (granted, they had 3 years during that time). So far I'm 37 and have felt absolutely zero lack of content.
I'd characterize it as "misguided" content rather than lacking. Just my view.
Opportunities to have lore that progresses are everywhere and seldom developed.
Quests for the most part have stayed at the "grade school level" during the whole 4 years and the rewards are just completely out of touch with the game's economic progression.
Classes have been haphazardly developed--many just receiving offensive boost after offensive boost and others nerfed or ignored (sorry to poor dwarfies--but one bone in 4 years doesn't right 48+ months of being hosed).
Those absolutely insane drop table parameters--Ehhh! Essentially left broken the whole time.
Some really good content has been added--at least conceptually good (not always detailed accurately imo). The new race was pretty well done overall--and the Kammie starter area showed real thought and was nearly brilliant with multiple free ports to spots polluted with mobs and an instanced dungeon.
The 'concept' side of the fortresses--neat as well.
New hunting zones at top end (though it doesn't sound like they have all been well thought out either) has been steady the past couple chronicles.
I think "amount" of new content has just looked misguided or accidental and most all--disconnected. It's like a half dozen guys are sitting around just playing "what if" rather than acting on a well thought out and reasoned PLAN for game development.

As one of the new players recently returned, I can just say I'm not alone. There have been a bunch of returning players. I haven't met too many true first-timers yet.
